Unfortunately, the breading on the schnitzel was completely burnt, and the waffles weren't fresh at all, as advertised. A real shame, even though the ambiance is nice.

We stopped here on a Sunday between lunch and coffee and were lucky that it wasn't very busy. Getting a quiet table with a nice view wasn't a problem. The drinks arrived quickly, and our order (from the fairly concise menu) was taken quickly. The food was very tasty, but could have been a bit more generous. Overall, it's acceptable for these prices. The service could have been a bit more attentive in some places, but unlike other reviews here, we found it quite acceptable. We can easily imagine another visit.

Excellent and tasty food at a good price-quality ratio. Served by the friendly owner. My husband eats a low-sodium diet, and the owner was very helpful and adapted the dish. We were there on a quiet Tuesday evening and were served quickly.

Entertainingly poor service. Other reviews are accurate. There was a huge mess of dog poop on the patio. We asked for tissues to wipe it up, and the waitress said, "No problem." We asked three waitresses before one brought us two tissues to clean the poop off our shoes. Another customer asked if they had apple juice, and the waitress asked another, who said, "I don't know," and shrugged.

You get the distinct feeling of being unwelcome here. There was a lot of grumbling about a reserved table that wasn't even serviced until two hours later, so we were allowed to stay with the promise that we'd be gone within two hours. When ordering drinks, I immediately asked for the menu but never received it. After our drinks, we paid inside because the waitress was nowhere to be seen. Inside, it was a complete mess, with empty glasses everywhere—absolutely filthy.

I admit I was a bit skeptical about the reviews. However, I took the time to read them beforehand, and since the main complaints were about the wait time and the staff, we decided to give it a try. We were there in the afternoon, so it was empty. We were the only customers. The staff was friendly, and the food came quickly. The portions were too large for both my daughter (pasta) and me (stuffed peppers). Both dishes were hot and we enjoyed them. So, we really can't agree with any of the criticisms; we had a good visit.

We've eaten here many times. The service staff give their very best, are super friendly, and make you feel welcome. The food is amazing, the view is amazing, and there's a wonderful atmosphere where you can really relax outside. Even though it's very busy on some days and staff shortages occur, they always try their best. We've always felt well served. Definitely recommend it.

The schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce lacked seasoning, and the fries were only half-cooked. At 3 p.m., we wanted to order cake, but it was already out. Instead, we were offered waffles. They were cold and "rubbery." The restaurant's location is good. We went there twice and were unfortunately disappointed both times.

The service is very slow, in general you had to wait a long time, the portions are small even though you have to wait a long time and the toilets are small and a bit strange, it looks nice from the inside but everything is very, very slow and uncomfortable!

The restaurant is generally very nice and has a good location on the way to the open-air theater. Unfortunately, the staff was very unfriendly, and the food wasn't delivered. The wine spritzer we ordered was warm! When we wanted to pay, we told the waiter what we thought, and the response was: "Next time you have to make a reservation, then you'll get better service!" We won't be back!

Made no reservation. But there should be place at the terrace. We had to wave the waiter to get a drink. We had to get the menu ourselves. After an our the waiter came to an table who arrived after us so we left the money for the drinks and walked away.

When we first arrived it look very cozy and the view was great. But that is everything that was great because we waited 40 minutes for our drinks and above all whe had to get the menu it self, ourselves. They did 't serve us, they didn't check and when we wanted to finally order... They did't come. This was after an hour. Even when we raised our hands more then a few times. They just did't respond or look our way. When we were fed up with this so called service we walked away. Yes, we left some money, but not because they earned or checked us. When we walked away, they didn't look, or even saw us leave. Even though we saw them look after we left already, because our table was empty. Shitty service, and cranky waiters who didn't want to be there i think. We will never go there again. And we have a lot of patience, that should say it all.

The restaurant is actually quite okay, but the staff is unfortunately unfriendly, slow, and unmotivated. Even when we informed them that the food wasn't tasty and we had to wait over an hour, they didn't respond at all. It's a shame, considering the restaurant is right on the way to the open-air theater; they could make something of it 🤷‍♀️

Pretty from the outside. The food is okay, but the staff are completely overwhelmed, unfriendly, and slow. You're often turned away even though there are free seats, reordering drinks is practically impossible, and even when you speak to a server, you're more or less ignored. The main course was so-so. The fries were cold and undercooked. Mayo comes from a packet. The dessert wasn't much better. The "waffle with hot cherries" was neither warm nor lukewarm, let alone hot. I'll probably never eat here again, but good luck to the other guests.

Although the castle tavern was quite busy, we received prompt and good service. We found the food delicious, and the view from the terrace was unique.

We were there with a group today. We were immediately shown to our seats. It wasn't busy (that should have been a warning). Drinks were okay, but the selection of vegetarian dishes was ridiculous. Bruschetta was burnt on the sides, but it was nicely presented. When our main courses arrived, there was a lot of confusion as to whether the plates were broken. But it must have been. The culinary highlight was burnt schnitzel with a gray mushroom sauce, and the plate was "decorated" with a slice of cucumber and half a tomato. The tortellini was topped with a layer of cheese that had just melted. There was no gratin. Just like with the tagliatelle, the sauce was a joke. It would have been better with higher-quality canned tomatoes. Despite our empty glasses, we weren't asked for drinks again. Unfortunately, it was a real disappointment from start to finish, and we wished we had simply avoided this place.

Had a delicious meal at the Burgschänke. Friendly service and food for a reasonable price. This is a great place for an evening of affordable and good food.

Disappointment. Nice design. Great location of the restaurant. The restaurant could have been hugely successful. But the cuisine and service leave a lot to be desired. We were served a warm white wine from a popular supermarket for 3 euros, but ended up costing around 25 euros for the bottle. The potatoes were also semi-finished products from the same store. It was so familiar and mediocre. The meat was 3 out of 5. The prices like in a good, popular restaurant. It wasn't comfortable because the waiters were arguing very loudly in the kitchen. And there was a dog running around on the restaurant premises, defecating. It was too much. Beautiful and tempting, but expectations were not met. Very unfortunate.

The visit to the Burgschänke was a big disappointment. My friends wanted to go to the musical that evening after dinner. The table was booked for 5:30 p.m., which should be enough to eat and then reach the performance at 8:00 p.m. The food was ordered and then we waited. Guests who arrived later than us received their food and we continued to wait. When the food came after 2 hours, one dish was not served. According to the waitress there was no more pasta. No alternative was offered. My food was also a disaster. I ordered a rump steak medium. But it was delivered to me well done. We then asked to speak to the boss. He then came, listened to our complaints and then asked if he could offer us a schnapps. He asked to bring me a new steak but due to the lack of time, it was already around 7:40 p.m., I couldn't accept a replacement. All I can say is that if I go out to eat in Tecklenburg again, I'll give the Burgschänke a wide berth.

So if you want to go to the open-air stage and eat beforehand, you should go there at lunchtime so that you are there on time for the entrance! We ate there two hours before entry, ordered and then waited 1.5 hours for the food. And the drinks were only available after half an hour and when you asked where the food was, you were told it would only take a minute to get to the open-air stage. And when you wanted to pay it became more expensive at the checkout than it said on the signs.

Unfortunately, our visit to Burg Schenke in Tecklenburg was a complete disappointment and almost ruined our entire evening. We had specially reserved a table for 5:30 p.m. because we wanted to go to a musical afterwards that started at 8:00 p.m. But what happened to us at Burg Schenke was simply intolerable. After waiting for over two hours and asking several times, we were finally served three of the four dishes we ordered. However, my daughter was left completely without food as we were suddenly informed that there was no more pasta. Instead of offering a solution, we were simply left standing - my daughter had to go to the musical hungry. The boss's reaction was even worse when we spoke to him about the situation. He laughed at and downplayed our concerns about not making it to the musical on time. With a condescending tone he said that we shouldn't "act like that" because there was still enough time. This indifference was difficult for us to bear, especially since we were already worried about our daughter's lack of meals. To make matters worse, we also had to take care of our own drinks. No waiter showed up, so we were forced to get them inside ourselves. In summary, the evening at Burg Schenke was not just bad, but catastrophic. Unfriendly service, a completely overwhelmed kitchen and a boss who showed no interest in his guests' problems. We can definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Good view. But that's what was noticed positively. We didn't eat there. Unfortunately, the Aperol Spritz didn't taste good at all. Way too watery. You could already tell by the color of the drink. They also seemed to be very overloaded... Too bad...

We all agreed (including other tables around us) that this shop deserved a 0 star rating! After 1.5 hours, food was initially given to part of the group, the other part received it after the first part had already eaten. When there were questions or complaints, the employees became very rude and rude. The price is overpriced for the mini portions we got. We didn't get enough. The big surprise came at the end. The price was wiped off a board over the course of the evening and the meal was 3 euros more expensive at the end of the evening.

Unfortunately, we had an extremely disappointing experience during our visit to Burg Schenke yesterday. What was planned as a cozy evening ended in absolute disaster. Even the start was bumpy: after an incredible wait of over two hours, three of the four dishes we ordered were finally served. But instead of making all the guests happy, we were told during serving that there were no more pasta (main course) - and that after more than two hours of waiting and repeated requests! An absolute no-go in the catering industry. Instead of offering a solution or alternative dishes, the affected guest was simply left standing and had to spend the evening hungry. Unfortunately, our attempt to talk to the boss didn't bring any improvement. Instead of apologizing for the grievances, the boss reacted disinterestedly, denied any allegations and portrayed us as liars. He showed no understanding whatsoever for the long waiting time and the fact that one of our guests came away completely empty-handed. The only "solution" he offered was to remove the dish that wasn't served from the bill - which shouldn't be more than a given and didn't help us in the situation. Conclusion: Our visit to Burg Schenke was a huge disappointment. The service was overwhelmed, the staff disinterested, and the overall experience was far below what you would expect from a restaurant. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant. Any chip shop would have been better!

Unfortunately, our visit to Schenke Castle in Tecklenburg was a big disappointment. What was planned as a nice family evening ended in frustration and disappointment. After a seemingly endless wait of over two hours, we were finally served three of the four dishes we ordered. However, instead of serving all guests, we were then told that there was no more pasta. Receiving this information after such a long wait was beyond annoying. Worse still, no alternatives were offered, so one of us had to spend the evening without eating. I got drinks at the counter myself in between because no waitress came to our table to treat myself to something to drink during the two hour wait. The conversation with the boss that we sought in our desperation was anything but helpful. Instead of addressing our legitimate complaints, he responded indifferently and dismissively. He denied the problems, dismissed our complaints as unfounded and did not address at all that one of our guests had not received food. The only compensation he offered was to take the dish that wasn't served off the bill - a ridiculous gesture that we think is self-evident and in no way made the situation any better. This visit showed us that neither the service nor the management at Burg Schenke respond to the needs of the guests. We wouldn't wish an evening like that on anyone and we definitely won't recommend this restaurant.

We know that there are a lot of reservations for the festival and that's why we come over earlier for dinner. However, it would have been nice if there hadn't just been the information that there were no more seats available in the beer garden. Upon request, we were allowed to sit indoors. It was very pretty there too. The food was good and inexpensive.

The operation simply takes too long. Drinks were brought, but the menu wasn't even offered. You had to ask for it first. Other guests got them themselves from the neighboring table. After an hour we still didn't have them on the table. We were lucky enough to be able to ask the waiter to settle the bill. It's sad when the shop is full, it's musical days in Tecklenburg and then only two people serve. The store is not recommended at first.

Cold fries wait way too long, and warm rosé, and waiters are not friendly after asking three times they just walk away.

The service is totally overwhelmed. One young man for the entire beer garden, the owner only very rarely came along. We should order the food in advance so that it goes smoothly. After 3 requests, the food came after about an hour. The side salad was poor, the schnitzel was okay. It was only when we paid that it became clear that the food was significantly more expensive than on the card we had been sent. No information beforehand. No apology for the delay or the increased bill. The gong was already ringing when we arrived at the open-air stage. Not recommended at the moment.

An absolute failure before a performance on the mountain railway. Table reserved for months, wasn't reserved, free table by chance. Two unfriendly, overwhelmed waiters. Ordered after 40 minutes after multiple requests. Food after multiple requests after 1.5 hours. Food is terrible, bland, loveless, tasteless. Unfriendly conclusion...never ever again!!

The food was okay. The service was completely overloaded. But what came with the bill was a disgrace. The prices were changed, almost every dish cost €2 more and the menus were not changed accordingly. Unfortunately, this only became apparent after payment and the company was not prepared to deal with it. The tickets have been ordered, but not yet there. That would be our problem now. First of all: I'm not picky when it comes to food... The Burgschänke is a cute, beautifully located restaurant. However, the food was not a feast for the palate. The side salad consists of a few green leaves with a single slice of cucumber, half a mini tomato and no less than three threads of carrot. The fries and hash browns were served completely tasteless. The schnitzel looks totally like a “ready-made meal” and the chicken tastes exactly as you know it as frozen food in a liquid marinade and - at least for me - do NOT love it. The selection of drinks is quite modest. VitaMalz out, passion fruit juice and a few other juices out, Cola Zero not in the range at all. Unfortunately we were very disappointed.

If you have really bad food, I would recommend this place to you.

In itself, the Burgschänke is a very nice, rustic restaurant with a great location. Unfortunately I have to agree with the other reviews here and can only give it 3 stars. The taste of the food was just OK. I had the schnitzel with mushroom cream, which unfortunately had hardly any taste. The tortellini casserole was also simple and partly very dry. Unfortunately, the service wasn't as friendly as you would expect or at least expect. All in all it was just OK, hence 3 stars.

Rump steak and the vegetarian stuffed peppers tasted good. The service was ok.

Ate schnitzels with fries with 5 people. Even though the restaurant was not even half full, we had to wait 45 minutes before the (simple) food arrived. The wine glasses on the table were not clean. Staff friendly but not alert. Not worth repeating for us.

On Saturday afternoon after a long hike we were in the beer garden and just wanted an Alster and a beer. It's not a bad place to sit but apparently the service didn't work at all. A young man and a young woman walked back and forth rather haphazardly, taking an order here and there and then were not seen again for a while. Apparently brand new there. The boss then carried out the on-site training. It had been known for a week that it would be the first 25°C day of the year. Although the outdoor area was only about 30-40% occupied, we, like others, simply weren't served and then left disappointed after over 30 minutes. Too bad.

Not a very extensive menu and no culinary delights, but what they serve is delicious and what they charge makes it almost 5 stars. Super hospitable and friendly. We'd love to come there!

Let's start with the ambience. A cute old half-timbered house in Tecklenburg's old town... mega. The rooms with the wooden floors also looked good, but 2 stars deducted for the paper Christmas tablecloth a week before Easter, which had probably been on the table for some time. At least that's what the stains on the ceiling suggested... Service, friendly and quick... About the food... It was ok, but not worth a 4 or 5 star rating...

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday, the widely advertised apple crumble is already out. There's no strawberry cake anymore either. The service understands almost nothing. Tragedy😒

Unfortunately I'm totally disappointed! There were four of us here. Two of us each ordered a schnitzel with fries - maybe I'm being picky, but just because we're sitting at the same table doesn't mean I want to share my meal. At first the waiter didn't know that there were fries with every schnitzel and then he said it was a communal portion for the middle.. Then the beer was stale - too bad!

Sehr gutes Essen zu fairen Preisen. Vor der Freilichtbühne eine gute Alternative zum Essen.

Wir waren Besucher der Freilichtbühne und wollten vorher noch was essen.Wir kehrten in die Burgschenke ein da alles sehr nett aus sah. Wir bestellten Thunfischsalat und Tortellini.Der Salat war schlecht gewaschen,man biss auf Sand,war nicht abgemacht und den Thunfisch mußte man fast suchen. Zum Dessert bestellten wir Schokoladensoufflé mit flüssigem Kern - leider ein totaler Reinfall - wir wurden vergessen und haben fast 45 min gewartet dann war es kein Schokoladensoufflé und kein flüssiger Kern und auf meine Beschwerde hin, wurde mit einem Schulterzucken reagiert, von wegen wir wären das 1% das könnte man tolerieren. Das geht gar nicht. Die wußten genau man kommt nur einmal und das haben wir als Gäste auch gespürt NIE WIEDER

Leider war das Wiener Schnitzel nach Wiener Art ein Tiefkühlschnitzel, gepresst, welches schon fertig paniert ist und dieses wurde gebraten. Also kein frisches Schnitzel. Zu Anfang unseres Besuches, mussten wir sehr lange auf eine Bedienung warten. Wir mussten in die Küche und uns bemerkbar machen.

Sehr freundlicher und aufmerksamer Service. Sehr schöner Biergarten.

Freundlicher Empfang durchs Personal und von Zeus. Service freundlich und schnell. 4 Gerichte bestellt, von der gefüllten Paprika und der ummantelten Hähnchen brust begeistert. Die Schnitzel blieben etwas hinter den Erwartungen der Bestellerinnen. Preise moderat. Der Ausblick ist sehr schön.

Nettes Restaurant, mit Biergarten und schönen Blick auf die Tecklenburger Altstadt. Essen war ok aber nicht unbedingt günstig.

Nette, freundliche Bedienung. Ich war mit einer Freundin zum Kaffee ☕️ und Kuchen 🎂 da. Mir gefällt das schöne, alte Lokal.

Der Service war freundlich und bemüht dem Ansturm gerecht zu werden. Die Tische viel zu eng gestellt und ideenlose Tischdeko. Absolut nicht einladend. Die Waffeln waren innen noch roh.

Bei dem schönen Wetter saßen wir draußen. Konnten auch ohne Vorbestellung noch ein leckeres Essen genießen. Der Chef , stammt Kollegen, waren sehr nett . Sollten wir noch einmal nach Tecklenburg kommen ,kehren wir gerne wieder ein.

Toller Ort, von der Weinempfehlung bis zum Hauptgericht sehr sehr gut! Rafiniert, erholsam und lecker der perfekte Start für einen begeisternden Abend bei den Festspielen

Das vegetarische Essen war in Ordnung, aber nicht überragend. Tortelliniauflauf mit zu wenig Soße und die gefüllte Paprika mit einer Soße wie in der Uni-Mensa. Wir hatten einen Tisch für 5. Wir fanden zum Schluss außerdem die Preise zu hoch. Der Kellner hatte uns nochmal je 4,50€ für einen kleinen Haufen grünen Salat berechnet, den er uns noch zwischendurch so angeboten hatte, dass es klang, als ginge er aufs Haus.
