Bückingsgarten in Marburg

We were there with a group of about 80 people, and I was absolutely thrilled. There were several starters and main courses brought to the table in small portions, not the buffet you'd typically find with such large groups. All the dishes were freshly prepared without exception. The staff was friendly, quick, and, for the most part, professional. If some of them lack the appropriate training, they certainly have had an excellent introduction. I highly recommend this place. I dare say the quality is just as good at the à la carte restaurant.

The restaurant, with the castle wall as one of its exterior walls, is spectacular. The food was good and smartly presented. The waiters were friendly, had a good sense of humor, noticed empty glasses, and offered replacements. They were there when you needed them.

Splendid and meticulously maintained location, at the foot of the castle, truly evocative. The food is unique, prepared with great care and pleasing to the eye. Even though we hadn't booked, the gentleman welcomed us kindly and found us a table quickly. Impeccable service, courteous and smiling waiters. Everything was truly excellent! 🍽️🏰✨

Not only is the location worth a visit, but the food is also excellent (top quality and selection). In summer, the terrace offers a beautiful view of Marburg.

A very nice cafe with a summer terrace and a beautiful view of the castle and the city of Marburg. Aromatic Lavazza coffee and a warm waffle warmed me up on a September autumn day, pleasant atmosphere and staff. I recommend visiting!

A wonderful ambiance above the rooftops of Marburg. Despite the restaurant being full, the staff is very friendly and the food is excellent. Those who like can climb the Schlossberg on foot or by car and take a break in the beautiful beer garden, right on the city wall below the castle.

First of all: I don't want to diminish the quality of the main courses in any way, because we were there around 3:00 PM and, unfortunately, there was nothing. Except for an apple crumble cake that looked like it had thawed, and a small dollop of whipped cream (€1 extra). Neither was worth the money. The staff, on the other hand, were extremely friendly, attentive, and very helpful. Respect. The place was clean, and the restrooms were also very tidy. Overall, worth a visit - but please not during coffee time ;-) A little tip: how about some light snacks: sausage salad, sandwiches, a cold cut platter, etc.

The climb from the lower town to Bückingsgarten was definitely worth it. We sat on the terrace with a beautiful view. The roasted cauliflower and the Wiener schnitzel were delicious. The service was very attentive and the ambiance very pleasant. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The Bücklingsgarten is truly a fantastic restaurant. The kitchen is of a very high standard – everything is fresh, perfectly presented, and delicious. The view over Marburg makes the visit even more special. The only minor complaint: the wait for the main course was a bit longer than expected. Nevertheless, overall, a top-notch visit – a definite recommendation!

Unfortunately, the beer garden menu is no longer available in the early evening, which we were informed of in a very rude manner. It wouldn't be a problem in itself that there is an evening menu and a lunch menu, if there had been information about it somewhere (online or at the restaurant itself). When we asked about it, we were given the rather rude reply that they don't eat waffles in the evening, after all. When we then decided to just have a drink, our table was pointedly reassigned to a new reservation after a few minutes. The ambiance was very nice, but the service was unfortunately inadequate – apparently, profit counts more than customer satisfaction here.

We've been to Bückingsgarten many times now, and it's now like home. The restaurant manager and his assistant are so friendly and welcoming. The service staff are extremely well-trained and very attentive. You can tell they work as a team. The food is a true delight. The people in the kitchen really know what they're doing. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Based on the website, we booked a table in the beer garden, and we were expecting the beer garden menu! Unfortunately, it's not available in the evenings. It should be better described on the menu.

It's great that you sit by the city wall. Otherwise, it's rather dark. Perhaps more suitable for an autumn/winter day.

Unfortunately, it was poor. I've been there many times with my company, and the buffet was always excellent! This time I went all-inclusive. Poor service, waited forever for a lemonade that was just water with lemon juice – after complaining, it contained woodruff syrup. Even worse. The food was brought to our table, but it never arrived. We left dejected and without food. Unfortunately.

Wonderful restaurant! Everything was fantastic: the atmosphere, the music, the decor. The food was exquisite. There was a meat menu and a small classic menu, offering something for every taste. The portions were generous and the presentation was beautiful. The service was perfect. This restaurant is honestly one of the few restaurants in Germany with warm and professional service—we've been to many restaurants—and our server always paid attention to every detail with a smile. We had a great time and will definitely return.

Overall, everything was pretty tasty, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the pasta was too salty.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. There were two of us, and my companion received his food 20 minutes after I had finished my meal. Unfortunately, my criticism was not addressed at all. Instead, they gave a very unprofessional explanation that we had ordered separately. Which is incomprehensible, since we were sitting at the same table and had placed one order accordingly. Very disappointing!! POSTSCRIPT: Thank you for your response to my review, but the process with the order is simply not true. It's a shame that they claim the order was received 10 minutes late, thus not telling the truth, instead of addressing criticism in a customer-oriented manner. However, since my criticism was not addressed on site, this was to be expected. A real shame, and professional is something else entirely!

We had a wonderful meal outside in the beer garden. The dishes were traditionally yet exquisitely prepared. The kohlrabi in buttermilk with caramelized nuts was delicious, and the Kilok chicken fricasse was very tasty. We felt very comfortable.

The food was okay, but the presentation was a bit poor. We had two Wiener Schnitzels and a Cordon Bleu.

We've been coming here every now and then for years. The service and food are always good. Any additional requests are met immediately.

Three of us were there today, but unfortunately, only one of us was truly satisfied with her meal; the other two weren't. I had chicken fricassee, with at most a small stalk of asparagus and a tablespoon of peas. The sauce wasn't light, but dark, and I wish I'd known beforehand that it contained alcohol. It wasn't filling; €28 is simply too much. My friend, who opted for the pasta, wasn't satisfied either. However, I have to give a positive mention to the dessert; it was really good. I should also mention that online, you can only find the snack menu; there's no information about the regular evening menu being valid in the beer garden after 5 p.m.! All in all, it wasn't worth the money we spent there. A shame.

Always a good place in Marburg. Friendly, fast service. Good food selection. A bit more expensive than other restaurants in Marburg. If you go hungry in Marburg, it's your own fault. There's something for every taste and budget.

The dessert was delicious, and the main course (I had pasta with mushrooms) was okay, but not what I expected from a restaurant of this type. The portion was too small to fill me up, and the price of €21 was completely unjustified. Unfortunately, vegetarians only had a choice of one main course and pasta. The waitress couldn't handle our question about whether we enjoyed our meal, remained silent, and left the table.

Wow, how unfriendly the service is here. We had a reservation, and after being ignored for about 10 minutes, my girlfriend decided to approach a server. Despite politely addressing us, we weren't served again... Crazy!!

Beautifully situated below the Marburg Castle with a fantastic view. The interior is also very cozy. Excellent food with superb service. We'd love to come back.

We actually just happened to pass by while descending from the castle, and behind the inconspicuous entrance lies a true gem. The ambiance is simply fantastic, especially for medieval fans. The natural stone wall in the hall is unclad. There are candles in the small bay windows. The tables and chairs are solid wood with a sophisticated look, and the atmosphere simply matches the castle next door. Fantastic. The food was outstanding. We had the Nebraska steak from the menu, and it was so worth it. The staff rounded off and confirmed the good impression. What incredibly nice people. It was truly lovely. It won't be the last time we're there.

We came in hungry and left hungry. The waitress saw us coming, wiped the table, and said someone was coming. 25 minutes later, we were served asparagus soup, but we hadn't ordered anything yet because no one seemed to be interested in us, even though six people walked past us, the other guests took our orders, paid, etc. Instead of an apology after the comment, "Unfortunately, we haven't been able to order anything yet," we just got an "oh." After another 10 minutes, we left. We then had a delicious meal further down town. That's a good way to scare away customers and guests. :)

This is a great restaurant if you like something special - great service. Our waiter Stephan (Stefan?!) was incredibly helpful and friendly. We had a starter and then main courses. And the suggested wine went well with the food choices. Also, if one of your party has difficulties walking, the restaurant recommends a taxi which literally parks in front of the restaurant. Great experience and I can only as much as provide five stars. Stephan deserved 7!

The staff is friendly, and if you have any questions, you'll receive good, detailed answers. However, you should definitely make a reservation in advance. I'd be happy to go back anytime.

The atmosphere there is truly something special. The food, which was absolutely perfect, tasted even better. We only found the price of the dessert to be too high for its size. It was delicious, and the terrace is a lovely place to sit with a view of the castle and Marburg. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately, it's way too expensive! I paid €8 for a mini waffle with cherries! That's definitely too much. The cherries were about 1.5 tablespoons. Also way too few for the €3.50 cherry topping. I would have liked a scoop of vanilla "flavored" ice cream on top, but that would have cost an extra €3.50... for one scoop.

A lovely evening in a pleasant atmosphere.

The terrace is beautifully located directly below Marburg Castle, the view is a little overgrown, but still nice. The service staff is very nice, attentive and pleasantly unconventional. The food is very tasty, but in my opinion the prices are a bit too high, also when it comes to the drinks. The toilet (ladies) outside definitely needed cleaning.

The food was very good and sitting on the terrace under the parasols was very pleasant. Still, I won't be coming back for the time being. It is very expensive, but the service could have been more attentive. In addition, the light in the toilet didn't work and there was no way to dry your hands.

A disaster. Despite having a long-term reservation outside, we had to sit inside on Mother's Day when the weather was beautiful. The service staff was incredibly unprofessional. The food came two hours after ordering, was partly cold and unfortunately didn't taste good. A real failure. Definitely not again.

Just drinking something, ordering and paying was a disaster. 1 man for 30 tables Ordered and over 30 minutes later the drink arrived as ordered. We wanted to pay and leave when the drinks arrived.

Nice location, apparently professionally managed, the card promises more than it delivers and charges significantly more money than is reasonable. My experience was marred by the surprise delivery of asparagus with *mashed potatoes* instead of triplets. Anyone who charges EUR 33 for a simple asparagus dish should be able to point out the defect to the customer when ordering and not ignore clearly expressed surprise.

Everything was great - quick check-in right under the castle with a view of the city - everything was nice, portions could have been a little more generous. We'll be back :)

In my opinion, anyone who is upset about the quality of the food or has anything else to complain about simply wants to complain. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. The service staff is without exception super friendly and accommodating. How you can complain about their clothing and deduct points because of it is beyond me :D What counts is a friendly conversation and a courteous attitude - especially in 2025, one would think. I've experienced that every time here. So, keep it up. By the way, the veal schnitzel couldn't be better :) The price for the food is absolutely reasonable considering the quality!

The dishes correspond to a high level of craftsmanship. The Bückingsgarten also plays in the Champions League in terms of taste. A big thank you to the kitchen and service crew. You get 6 stars from me😉

We have often been guests at Bückingsgarten and it has been my favorite restaurant in Marburg so far. But now the prices no longer bear any relation to the size of the portions. The greeting from the kitchen, starter bread with dip, is no longer available. I find that very unfortunate. Otherwise, for me, the service no longer matches the high prices. Too bad...

Had great lunch with a friend today, food was excellent, service very friendly, maybe a bit too cheeky, and the location is stunning.

I ordered spring awakening - sour cream dressing, radishes, asparagus and baking peas (that's exactly what it said on the menu) and I got: lettuce (a bowl full), finely chopped cucumbers (a few), coleslaw, pickled radishes (I didn't recognize them at first because they looked so colorless), baking peas and croutons and... I then found the very finely chopped asparagus. Very very little and cut into small pieces so that I couldn't taste it. When I asked where the asparagus was and pickle salad isn't on the menu, the following answer came: "If you want to eat asparagus, then you should have ordered asparagus!" 🫢 I ordered this, didn't I? The atmosphere is very nice and the food was okay overall, I would have just liked to have eaten what was on the menu - and not a bowl full of oversized lettuce.

From the reservation (we were even told by phone when the kitchen would open because we wanted to eat at an earlier time) to the service and the food, everything was excellent! The taste was great, the atmosphere was really special, we would love to come back!

We spontaneously stopped in for dinner late in the afternoon on Easter Sunday. We sat nicely on the beautiful terrace with a beautiful view of Marburg. Very very tasty high quality food.
