A classic Bavarian inn, located right on Traunstein's town square. The beer from Hofbräuhaus Traunstein is beyond reproach, and the food is simply delicious. It's especially recommended in the summer, when the town square is closed off in the evenings and performers of all stripes make their appearances.

The Bräustüberl is located in the center, and the schnitzel with fries was good. The service is very friendly.👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼

We sat outside and just had a drink because there was a lot of car traffic right next to the tables...a shame for the owners and impossible for the city administration to allow cars to drive through there.

Unfortunately a disappointment. In short: 1: Inattentive service. We then got the menus ourselves from inside, waited a long time for our orders to be taken, and with the food came the next disappointment. The bread with the sausage salad, for example, was hard and old, the fries with the schnitzel were way too salty, and the portion of cheese spaetzle was ridiculous for the price. No one ever came to ask if everything was okay with the food. Once, we were asked if we wanted more drinks (as the plates were being cleared). When all the glasses were empty and we obviously wanted to pay and had said so several times (!), we were simply ignored and no one came. All in all: poor service and poor value for money for the food.

The reservation worked out well. Whether you like the beer or not is a matter of taste; ours wasn't. But the roast pork and the knuckle of pork weren't even average, and the potato dumplings were a disaster. There was hardly any cheese in the cordon bleu. They also forgot to order a second drink. At the next table, the children were sitting naked, wearing only diapers. I didn't think that was appropriate. None of the waiters said anything! Nothing I'd come back for.

I had a white sausage and wheat beer. The service was first-class. I'd be happy to come back.

Known for good Bavarian cuisine and beautiful ambience

The absolute worst knuckle of pork I've ever eaten. The crust was rubbery, the meat was rubbery... and I always thought knuckle of pork was a Bavarian staple! Now I understand why not a single local goes here to eat; there are much better options elsewhere in Traunstein.

We were there yesterday just after lunch, and I was lucky enough to get a roast with crackling. I haven't had such a perfect piece of roast, cooked to perfection, in a long time. The dark beer sauce was divine 🤤 My wife had the spaetzle, which was also very good and plentiful. Great food at a fair price, we highly recommend it.

Even though we didn't have a reservation, the host found a table for us. We had a very good meal.

Well, you can do it sometimes. We weren't late and almost all the classics were sold out, even though we actually wanted to see them and had driven there especially.

I can only recommend it, discovered it by chance and have no regrets, on the contrary, top food, top staff, would be happy to go back.

The Hofbräuhaus in Traunstein has been impressing visitors for years with its unique blend of traditional hospitality and high quality. The beers are unmistakably distinctive – the Märzen and Zwickl stand out in particular. The cuisine offers classic Bavarian delicacies, always fresh and lovingly prepared. The roast pork and the Obazda platter are particularly recommended. The service is also attentive, warm, and professional – you can tell that hospitality is alive and well here. If you want to experience authentic Bavarian brewing, this is the place to be. My tip: In summer, be sure to sit in the beer garden – with a view of the beautiful Alps, it tastes twice as good!

There are several typically Bavarian taverns in Traunstein – one of them is located right on the town square: the Hofbräu Bräustüberl. In summer, it's pleasant to sit under umbrellas, but we were there at the end of January, so our only option was to escape to the warmth inside. There, we were greeted by a rustic Bavarian dining room, decorated in dark wood, with several very large tables where you can also sit together when it gets a bit crowded. We were in an adjoining room, which can also be booked for larger groups, but on a Saturday lunchtime, it was obviously needed for the many guests. It's a bit cooler, but also brighter and much quieter. Unless someone moves a chair... The menu is – without giving too much away – very Bavarian. From roast pork to knuckle and venison to schnitzel and creamed mushrooms, all classics, and fish is also a must. We opted for Wiener Schnitzel and Zwiebelrostbraten (onion roast beef) and were not disappointed. The wait was okay, and the drinks arrived very quickly. Naturally, when a restaurant is full, it sometimes takes a while. The taste was perfectly on target, but the only noticeable thing was the subtle salt seasoning. While you're usually bombarded with salt in restaurants, here it was almost (too) little. The Zwiebelrostbraten (onion roast beef) was tender and lean, relatively thin and therefore slightly over-medium. The fried potatoes were quite crispy on one side and tasted impeccable, and the onions and gravy were above average. The schnitzel was well pounded, also a bit low in salt, and the fries were crispy and delicious. The drinks were classic Hofbräu Traunstein; the beer is—as they say—"solid," so you can't go wrong with that. The non-alcoholic drinks are, of course, good too 😉 The prices are really reasonable compared to Munich standards; you'll often struggle to find a schnitzel for under €20 in the state capital. The service was extremely friendly and fast, but unfortunately, they were less frequent in the adjoining room than I'd hoped, so I didn't have the chance to order a second drink. Note: If all the tables in the room are occupied within a 20-minute period and then want to pay at the same time, the wait for a drink and/or dessert was too long. Especially child-friendly: Every dish is available in a small size for half price. I think that's great! The entire building, like the town square outside, is literally filled with history and memories, and so my story with the Bräustüberl isn't over yet—I'll be back!

A rustic, ideal brewery inn with friendly service, a large selection of excellent beer, and truly delicious pub food. My white sausages were served in really hot water and were the best of my Bavarian vacation. The same goes for the 🥨.

The price/performance ratio is unsatisfactory! Fish platter with canned vegetables, zander you have to hunt for, Riesling sauce that tastes like NOTHING, and a shrimp for 24.50. Schnitzel with fries that have been in the deep fryer several times... Not recommended

Drinks arrived quickly. Food arrived quickly, but the cheese spaetzle lacked cheese and was stringy. Otherwise, everything was good.

The Cordon Bleu was very good, but that was about it. The portion size of the pork loin seemed too small for the price. They shouldn't have skimped on the side dishes, so you'd still be filling for the price. Unfortunately, the spaetzle came with a beetle – that shouldn't be allowed, and the way it was handled, after commenting to the staff, seemed unprofessional. In general, the staff didn't seem very customer-friendly. The ambiance was rather mediocre. The table setting was nice, but otherwise the interior lacked some love and enthusiasm for decoration. It's a shame. There's potential.

A nice place to eat and sit outside, serving typical Bavarian dishes. Prices are reasonable. There's always something going on here, with lots of locals here too.

The beer is truly delicious and varied – especially nice when you're sitting outside in the central square, surrounded by old buildings and a lively atmosphere. The food, however, was disappointing. Only the schnitzel was okay, but the side dishes were dry and tasteless. The dishes overall seemed uninspired. The staff were reserved and seemed unmotivated – not in keeping with the Bavarian pub atmosphere. Too bad – we moved on to enjoy the beautiful day elsewhere. Happy birthday, Traunstein!!!

Unfortunately, the restaurant is very drafty, and the atmosphere isn't customer-friendly, as seen at the table next to us. And the food, simple and quick to prepare, is too expensive. Three stars because the roast pork was good. The dumplings, unfortunately, weren't.

We were there today. Since it's always busy, we thought they'd serve great Bavarian food. I had the roast pork. Unfortunately, the meat was really tough. Grandma had the pork knuckle, which was also tough, and my daughter had the spaetzle with sauce. All three of us got terrible diarrhea right there. We definitely won't be going there again.

I drove 40km just to treat myself to a good pork knuckle. Just like every year. But this time I sat at my table for 15 minutes. The waitress walked past my table at least six times, deliberately looking away. When I called her, this bohemian waitress got loud, yelled at me why I couldn't wait a few minutes, and slammed a beer mat on the table. Not recommended when you're treated like that as a guest. The manager should have a serious word with this "friendly waitress."

Really delicious, and in a typical Bavarian setting... I love these places! And the special edition white beer is really delicious!!!

Two dishes were sold out at 5 p.m., the waitresses were pretty confused, and it took several attempts to get drinks. It's expensive, and the dumplings were much too small; some of the meat was tough. I paid €26 for a main course with a small side salad and a drink, and it didn't fill me up. You can indulge yourself, but you don't have to.

There were three of us visiting, but unfortunately it didn't live up to our expectations. The service was very slow, and the food came before the drinks. The selection was limited, and the food was okay for us, but nothing more. It's an absolute no-go that they offer bottled beer in a brewery without any notice. Hence, unfortunately, 3 stars.

It no longer has anything in common with the old “Stern-Bräu”. Food and service are recommended. Unfortunately, the outdoor spaces are very disturbed by the cars constantly driving through. Recommendation: close the town square to these people from 6 p.m.!!

If you are in Traunstein, you can definitely stop by here. The brewery's beer is very good. You can actually only buy it up to a 300km radius around the brewery. The ambience in the restaurant is very harmonious, the only thing disturbing the outside area is the passing cars. The food is traditional Bavarian, but you can also find something creative. I thought it tasted very good.

Was very happy with my meal! Tastes good and comes to the table very quickly. Unfortunately, the staff had a very loud and rude discussion among themselves. Things like this should be clarified when there are no guests in the restaurant. That left a very bad impression. We will come back, hopefully when the staff will be in a better mood.

Overpriced I got frozen vegetables and on my plate for 24.90 and a very large plate with little food, the atmosphere wasn't that nice when you're sitting right next to cars driving by. I'll never go there again for the price I'd rather go to a better restaurant where they also cook with fresh vegetables.

Extremely inflexible. Children's portion only up to 12 years old, even if you only want a small portion. Cyclists only if one drinks the other. A no-go in such a big economy.

Another nice old traditional brewery. We went to the Stüberl for a cold drink on a Sunday morning. Nice, you could really feel the Sundays of the past. Nice staff, delicious beer, I will definitely be a guest there again on my next stay.

A cozy restaurant in the heart of Traunstein. Very good food at relatively cheap prices. Many types of beer! Very nice and friendly service.

Eat: Crusty roast with two dumplings in beer sauce. The roast was mostly fat and the crust was way too hard Cordon Bleu with fries. The breading was way too oily. The morzarella in the meat tasted rancid. Some of the fries were too hard. Service: The lady who took our order was very nice. She probably didn't cash in. Ambiance: Train station atmosphere, very noisy. There is no comfort.

This was my first meal in Germany and was exactly what I had hoped it would be. I want to come back tomorrow (and just may).

The two of us spontaneously went to the restaurant for lunch on Saturday around 12:15 p.m. Very nice house, very nice service - but very mediocre food. We had 1/2 knuckle and a pork schnitzel Viennese style. Both dishes had no salad on the menu (!) - so we had to order the coleslaw and a side salad separately. Dear people, the salad is simply part of it... Offering it for a separate payment is absurd. 1/2 knuckle: The knuckle isn't cooked through properly, the meat is still tough and doesn't come off the bone properly. The sauce is definitely a finished product with no taste. The dumplings safely out of the bag - a total loss for a franc. Bacon coleslaw very good (you pay on top). Schnitzel: Schnitzel not seasoned when taken out of the deep fryer, breading lifts off and is lost. Unfortunately, fries were only very mediocre. Side dishes salad very good (extra price again). Conclusion: It's a real shame that this bad habit with salads (you order and pay extra) is now widespread almost everywhere. A knuckle also comes with a coleslaw for €15.90, very simple. If you can afford it, fine. 2 beers, schnitzel + half a knuckle + the two salads extra for a total of just over 50 EURO. That's far too much for the result. We're definitely not eating there anymore, sorry.

Typical Bavarian restaurant with excellent food and a varied choice of dishes. The added value is given by the very kind and very welcoming waitresses.

Bavarian inn as you imagine it. Although our reservation was lost, we quickly found a table for 6 people. receive. There are many types of beer from Hofbräuhaus Traunstein to choose from. Not all of them are on the menu as there is a small card at the table in which the beers are described in detail. As a starter, I shared a pretzel dumpling carpaccio with warm pumpkin cubes from the daily menu with my sister. Was kindly served on two plates. Then there was Kasspatzn. Really tasty because they weren't drowned in cream (as is unfortunately the case in most restaurants). For dessert I ordered a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and a liquid chocolate center. All in all, highly recommended if you are traveling in Traunstein.

The finest beer hall atmosphere underlined by underground decoration or interior design, if you even want to call it that. If you want to experience industrial vibrating tile floors paired with horrible acoustics, this is the place for you. A wildly prepared pub salad with meat elements is called market salad, but it doesn't make it any better. Unfortunately, the very nice staff can't get it out of their way. Unworthy of the top location on the town square.

Had lunch with 18 people on Christmas Day. There was a smaller menu than usual, but it was reasonably priced. It's cheeky that they only offer such expensive dishes. The portions weren't particularly large either. But the Christmas guests were really left out

That wasn't a highlight! Service when it comes to ordering drinks is still ok. The food took a long time and unfortunately came to the table without cutlery. Luckily the nice gentleman at the next table helped out with the cutlery he had set up because there was no trace of service staff left. I'll spare you details about the food, but I wasn't satisfied with any of the 4 components. It's better to go to Sabine's Meindl Alm in Bergen, where there is good service, enthusiastic staff, delicious food in a pleasant environment at cheaper prices.

Quite expensive and the food was OK but nothing special. The tables were sticky and dirty. 2 tables were occupied and the rest were empty. Dumplings are tiny and a slice of belly costs 17 euros It was OK but not again.

Last year it was awesome and this year it tasted sad. Schnitzel was seasoned almost 0, orange juice tasted really tired... But the fries were good. Service was quick and friendly.

A really great, very authentic inn/brewery right in the heart of Traunstein. Wit had beef goulash, half a knuckle and a children's schnitzel - it was sensational!! The kitchen is really great. For dessert we recommend the apple strudel and the apple rings as well as the chocolate cake! Overall, the Hofbräuhaus Traunstein is a beautiful place of Bavarian hospitality and lifestyle. We would love to come back!

Really delicious, traditional German cuisine in a lovely atmosphere. My onion roast was delicious. The beer is also great. Occasionally more unusual dishes are also on the daily menu. Vegetarians will also find something here. Very child friendly, which was also great. The service is great and quick. Prices are great!

We were there as a couple and really enjoyed the hospitality, especially from Nina and Noah. The food was excellent, the Traunsteiner Helle was well tapped and the atmosphere made you feel good. Absolutely recommended!
