The decor is a bit dated; however, the staff is cheerful and always has a quick joke on their lips. The food was plentiful and very tasty. They were a bit stingy with the salt, but there are salt shakers on the table. Even though the chairs, tables, and benches are a bit dated, they were still quite clean. The only criticism would be the coldness of the dining room. At 17°C, it was a bit chilly.

We were at the beer garden with several people on Friday evening and wanted a bite to eat. Most people ordered schnitzel with fries. Three people opted for schnitzel with mushrooms and fried potatoes, while others chose chicken with salad and other dishes. The service was very friendly and accommodating – a big compliment for that! Unfortunately, the quality of some of the food left a lot to be desired. The fried potatoes and the schnitzel had obviously been prepared in a deep fryer and were practically dripping with oil. When you pierced the fried potatoes, the fat ran out of them, which significantly dampened our appetite. If you go to a restaurant and pay €21.50 for a schnitzel, in my opinion you can expect the fried potatoes to be prepared in the traditional pan – ideally with some bacon and onions. The way we got them, unfortunately, had little to do with a restaurant meal. A real shame, because the service was really good. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the food. Too bad.

Joh. Albrecht has been in Bielefeld for what feels like forever. The ambiance is lovely and the beer garden is excellent. The food is also impressive. As is typical in Bavaria, the portions are generous. The salmon is highly recommended. The traditional Bavarian dishes are nothing to sneeze at, but the taste is a bit different in Bavaria, and there's something missing. Still, good food, excellent service, and good home-brewed beer!

We were a large family group with children for two evenings over the weekend and were very satisfied. Excellent service ("Karo") served us both days. Thank you again. Everyone's food was very good. The kitchen was top-notch. Therefore, everyone requested the second evening, and since we arrived early (5:30 p.m.), we were again given a great table outside. The next time we have a meeting in Bielefeld, the Brauhaus will definitely be a stop again.

Prices are a bit on the higher side, and dips cost extra, which I find rather unnecessary given the price range. The food is good, and the portions are decent. The food and drinks arrived quickly, even though it was quite busy, which suggests the staff's good organization. Only once were cranberries forgotten, but they were served upon request. The beer is tasty and drinkable.

Their homemade beer is excellent, but unfortunately, their kitchen isn't very successful. The Schnitzel I had was too greasy, and unfortunately, it wasn't, but the beer was very good, so the two balanced each other out. I recommend coming here; it's a fun place to spend time.

The food came very quickly, but it wasn't very busy. The schnitzel was good, but there weren't enough paprika in the paprika sauce. The baked potato was a bit hard, but otherwise it was okay. The service was friendly.

The beer garden is very attractive and, despite being fully booked, wasn't too loud. The service was okay, but nothing more. Two orders brought the wrong drink. Unfortunately, the food wasn't what you'd expect from a brewery. The knuckle of pork was very dry, and the schnitzel looked very frozen. The sauces were also apparently ready-made products, including canned mushrooms. This is also supported by the fact that the food was served less than 15 minutes after ordering. In conclusion: Beer yes, food no.

We went here for dinner. The food was pretty bad, the meat was dry, and the other ingredients were anything but tasty. There was a lot of it, but if a lot of it doesn't taste good, then it's better not to go. The second star is only for the speed and friendliness of the service staff. They did a good job. We wouldn't come here for dinner again.

The atmosphere is very cozy. The brewery's own beer (Kupfer) is delicious. The service is friendly and professional. We had Wiener Schnitzel and a pan-fried knuckle of meat (photo). The Wiener Schnitzel had a bit too much breading and was too thick for the price. The knuckle of meat was tasty. However, the sauerkraut was overcooked and overcooked (see photo).

It would be a remiss to award this restaurant less than five stars. It is the best restaurant in all of Bielefeld, if not the surrounding area. Friendly, attentive service and chefs of exquisite craftsmanship will completely win you over on your first visit. Although the restaurant is located in the heart of the city, you can linger in the cozy, secluded beer garden—away from the noise and hustle and bustle of the street—and enjoy the delicacies of German cuisine, depending on what you're craving: schnitzel, spaetzle, or something simple like beer bread... Sundays are schnitzel day, when you can indulge in schnitzel of any kind and preparation. The house beer, which I initially had some doubts about, turns out to be surprisingly delicious—whether brass or copper, it will suit your palate (unfortunately, no wheat beer). The interior is also a wonderful place to sit, especially when it's cold and miserable outside. The service deserves the highest praise: No matter how many guests arrive at the same time, you won't be overlooked. The food is delicious, the portions generous—you leave feeling full, happy, and eager to return soon. We discovered the restaurant about a year ago, but we always enjoy coming back.

The best German restaurant and beer house in Bielefeld.

There were two of us. We received a lot of attention and friendliness from the service staff. The beer was very drinkable and the food delicious. One dish was missing a chicken breast. After a spontaneous comment to a server who wasn't in charge of our table, it was promptly replaced without any questions. Overall, highly recommended. Thank you for a lovely evening!

The first brewery I was in that had vegan schnitzel! And it was really tasty! What would make it even better is if it were a little bigger compared to the meat schnitzel or if you got 2 schnitzels (possibly for a small extra charge). ^^ But it's really cool that vegetarian and vegan cuisine is becoming increasingly popular in traditional restaurants.

After a long time back home, I had a fantastic pork knuckle with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. The craft beer was just great. Highly recommended. And take a bottle of beer brandy home with you.

The Brauhaus Joh. Albrecht is a place with a unique atmosphere and excellent thematic furnishings. Here you can enjoy fresh, delicious home-brewed beer and sample hearty, traditional German cuisine. In the warm season, I particularly recommend visiting the cozy beer garden. It's the perfect place to meet up with friends and relax after work. 100% recommended!

Ordering beer went quickly and arrived quickly. It took a long time before we were allowed to order food. However, the food came after 5 minutes and was really delicious. When we had to pay we also had to wait again. Toilet conditions were ok.

There were 6 of us there in December. The food was definitely very tasty, no one complained. The service was also good and friendly, even if the restaurant was very busy at the time. However, there is one major point of criticism and that's why it's only given 4 stars: the toilets are absolutely disgusting. You go from this really nice ambience into a setting where you think you've landed at the train station, everything smells of urine, is unkempt and there were no towels. So really super fun and I didn't expect it in a restaurant like this.

In a half-full restaurant we stood at the counter for about 5 minutes until someone asked us what we wanted. When we then said that we would like a table for two, apparently more important things were done without comment until after what felt like 5 minutes we were shown a few bar tables by the extremely grumpy waiter or were directed to the next room. When we wanted to sit down there, the next equally friendly waiter came and told us that the area was about to close. Thanks, but never again

Pre-cooked food, frozen fries, it was like eating at McDonald's. We ordered the dishes and not even a minute passed and they were already on the table. That means they are already done and just reheat. We asked for still water and they brought a beer mug of water and charged us 4 euros, if they didn't bring the bottle it would be tap water. I don't understand how there are people who have been able to rate it 4 or 5. It would be another restaurant. Anyway, nothing as expected and please don't go, it's a scam.

We went here for dinner with several people from our company after visiting a customer in Bielefeld. None of us were convinced. The menu already looks like it's from a system restaurant, the food is bland mainstream, there were no daily specials - that has nothing to do with good, dedicated cuisine. The service was good, the atmosphere was tolerable. Next time we'll go to a "real restaurant".

We were at the brewery and ate the kale. Unfortunately it was way too salty. We also asked for tap water, which was only brought to us fifteen minutes later. We are really disappointed.

My experience was very good here. Yes the pork knuckle is to be tried and it did not disappoint but boy is it rich. Gaviscon at the ready but hey the taste is worth it. I was part of a larger group booking on a business hospitality event. My point being we were a roudy lot visiting from the UK. This said the staff here showed patience and did not dampen our enthusiasm one bit during the evening and were attentive to our needs. Our visit incorporated an explanation of beer brewing which is done on site within view of the entrance and our young Brazilian host in that regard translated very well to us the technique. The food I found delicious and being my first visit to Germany in my 59 years has been met with a reward of a welcome extended to us by the German people I never imagined. The people who live and work in the towns and factories we visited were polite, friendly and open. To an English man the look and feel is very similar to the UK but I sensed a work ethic that I loved here and I will be back to experience more of Germany for sure. Thank you Brauhaus Bielfeld for adding to that positive feeling for this one evening that you made us feel very special and thank you to all the German people for your smiles and help during our 3 nights.

Das Lokal verfügt über einen ansprechendes uriges Ambiente. Der Service ist aufmerksam, schnell und zuvorkommend. In unseren Augen zu kumpelhaft-aber das ist Geschmacksache. Das Essen in Ordnung ohne ein wirkliches Geschmackserlebnis. Desaströs sind die Toilettenanlagen und der Gestank auf dem Weg dorthin. Hier ist dringend Renovierung - und Putzbedarf. Wäre ich vor der Bestellung dort gewesen, hätte ich auf ein Essen hier verzichtet.

We were here on a Sunday. Unfortunately there was only the schnitzel menu and something else. The main menu is available from Monday to Saturday. The food was great but it also arrived quickly after ordering. It was a bit cool in the rooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful

We went here as part of a culinary walking tour. There was then a dessert in the brewery, a panna cotta with a blackberry sauce. There was also a beer called Messing. It was very tasty and we would love to come back.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed because we actually remembered the brewery relatively well. Unfortunately, the Viennese-style schnitzel didn't taste good at all. It was very dry, tough and the breading wasn't good either. Plus it was pretty small relative to the amount of fries. The fries were okay - but nothing more. One had the impression that they were fried in relatively old fat. The cucumber salad that came with it was also no more than average. To then charge €16.90 for that is a lot. Service, however, was friendly.

The schnitzels are super good. We also had cheese spaetzle, which was also very tasty. The service was quick, the employees were friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our food. The beer selection is good. Will come back!

The food was tasty and well presented. The fries were of the bog-standard industrial type. The service was half-hearted. 50c for butter to go with your €3.50 bretzel, and €1 for a tablespoonful of mayonnaise for your fries (which wasn't made clear on the menu) - a disappointingly cynical pricing model. The beer (dunkle) was good. However I was drawn by the promise of craft beer served in a brewery. All I could see available were fruit beers and an IPA, but the staff weren't interested in talking about them, and I don't think the establishment has seen a live brewer in quite a while (the lovely copper brewing vessels looked a little forlorn.) The garden area is a lovely place to sit and enjoy your refreshments.

I had the mushroom cream schnitzel. That was good, but I expected it given the prices. We were there in August and they had their own summer beer - that was amazing! For that alone the visit was worth it. Addendum: Unfortunately we only had a reduced menu. Compared to the one from the website, some interesting things were missing. One star less for service.

Decent brewery. What you expect.

Still one of the best locations in Bielefeld...especially during Corona times...the prices are mostly halfway normal...the dark beer makes the difference

I've been going here several times a year with friends for well over twenty years. The last two times we were really disappointed. The second to last time we just thought it was a slip-up. But the last time, oh god, the service, soooo bad! Eat this way and that, it depends on what you eat. The beer is super tasty, the ambience is typical brewery, everything is good. But some of the staff doesn't work anymore. We all agreed on that. This time there was no tip either. Next time we want to go somewhere else.

We stopped in on Saturday lunchtime and ate mushroom schnitzel, fries and cucumber salad. Delicious! Brass beer 🍺also very smug. Service friendly and attentive. So for everything: thumbs up

I had reserved a table for a larger group and the service staff moved the table to the beer garden without consulting due to the nice weather - very attentive and accommodating! The spring beer and the food were very tasty, and there are also creative dishes for vegetarians. Attentive service and lovely, lively atmosphere in the beer garden. Definitely recommended!

All in all, a good place to go for good home cooking. Hearty and light dishes, but with some drawbacks: schnitzels are getting smaller every year and the price is rising. Fries are always super salty. No wheat beer in a brewery on the weekend. Service is top. Attractive ambience and beautiful beer garden. When it comes to eating alone, the above points should be the same as before or improved.

Solid German cuisine at hefty prices.

Once and never again. The food was an imposition. Orig. Wiener Schnitzel ordered. Completely dried out, both breading and meat. After replacing it, it wasn't any better. The potatoes tasted like they were warmed up yesterday. The only bright spot was the beer.

Das ist das dritte Mal, dass ich zu Joh. Albrecht gehe, da es das klassische deutsche Restaurant ist, das ich meinen Freunden gerne zeige, wenn sie mich besuchen kommen. Ich war nie besonders zufrieden, aber das letzte Mal war wirklich eine schlechte Erfahrung. Wir waren zu sechst, und ein Freund kam etwas zu spät, weshalb wir etwas länger brauchten, um zu bestellen (aber das Restaurant war nicht voll, also war es kein großes Problem). Der Kellner, der uns bediente, war unfreundlich. Ein Freund von mir bestellte ein Weizenbier, aber der Kellner missverstand und brachte ein Glas Wasser, und als mein Freund ihm netterweise sagte, dass er Bier bestellt hatte, schnaubte er sehr verärgert und goss das Wasser über den Arm meines Mannes. Außerdem kamen zwei Gerichte etwa 15 Minuten nach allen anderen, also mussten wir 15 Minuten warten, um auf unsere beiden Freundinnen zu warten. Darüber hinaus war mein Truthahn wirklich trocken und zäh. Als ich schließlich bezahlen wollte, 62,etwas €, sagte mir der Kellner (als er sah, dass ich den Betrag nicht aufgerundet hätte): "In Deutschland ist der Service nicht inbegriffen." Und ich antworte: "Meinen Sie das Trinkgeld? Aber es ist doch nicht obligatorisch, oder?" Und er: "In Deutschland normalerweise schon." (Nun, ich lebe seit 9 Jahren in Deutschland, und ja, normalerweise gibt man Trinkgeld, wenn der Service aber gut ist.) Und so ich antworte: "Na ja, wenn der Service perfekt ist." Am Ende runde ich aber trotzdem auf 68, aber widerwillig. Der freundliche Kellner machte weiter und sagt: "Wir haben aber mit der Küche nicht zu tun". Und ich musste ihn noch genau angeben "Ich rede nicht von der Küche, sonder von dem Service!". Könnte ich zurückgehen, würde ich kein einziges Cent Trinkgeld geben. Ich finde es wirklich unhöflich, nach einer solch unangenehmen Erfahrung nach Trinkgeld noch zu fragen. Für den Service würde ich 0 Sterne geben. Liebes Joh. Albrecht, es wird kein viertes Mal geben.

This is the third time I go to Joh. Albrecht as it is the classic German restaurant that I like to show my friends when they come to visit me. I've never been particularly happy, but the last time was a really bad experience. There were six of us and a friend arrived a little late so it took us a little longer to order (but the restaurant wasn't full so it wasn't a big problem). The waiter who served us was unfriendly. A friend of mine ordered a wheat beer, but the waiter misunderstood and brought a glass of water, and when my friend kindly told him that he had ordered beer, he snorted very angrily and poured the water on my husband's arm. Also, two dishes came about 15 minutes after everyone else, so we had to wait 15 minutes to wait for our two friends. On top of that, my turkey was really dry and tough. When I finally wanted to pay, 62, something €, the waiter told me (when he saw that I hadn't rounded up the amount): "In Germany the service is not included." And I answer: "Do you mean the tip? But it's not obligatory, is it?" And he: “Usually in Germany.” (Well, I've lived in Germany for 9 years, and yes, you usually tip if the service is good.) And so I answer: "Well, if the service is perfect." I still end up rounding to 68, but reluctantly. The friendly waiter continued and said: “But we have nothing to do with the kitchen”. And I had to specify "I'm not talking about the kitchen, but about the service!". If I could go back, I wouldn't tip a single cent. I think it's really rude to ask for a tip after such an unpleasant experience. I would give 0 stars for the service. Dear Joh. Albrecht, there will not be a fourth time.

Das Brauhaus ist immer ein Besuch wert. Einmal kommen schon seit 15 Jahren hierher und sind noch nie enttäuscht worden. Super leckeres Essen zu akzeptablen Preisen und leckeres Bier. Dazu ein Service, der auf Zack ist. Hier ist besonders Marie zu erwähnen, die, trotz vollem Haus, immer ein Blick darauf hatte, wenn die Gläser leeren waren. So stellt man sich einen entspannten Abend mit Freunden vor. Und als es an Bezahlen ging, hat Marie in einer Geschwindigkeit im Kopf die Gesamtrechnung auf die einzelnen Personen aufgesplittet, daß war schon sagenhaft. Einfach top Service!

Absolute joke compared to the Brauhaus Paderborn. Frozen meat and poorly seasoned food + sometimes musty taste. Not recommended.

We had the pleasure of visiting this charming restaurant in Bielefeld. The service was outstanding, the rustic, cozy atmosphere created a welcoming atmosphere and the home cooking was simply delicious. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for real feel-good gastronomy!

While I am still looking for the best place to have a true German food wowing ;) , the Brauhaus Joh. Albrecht offered a very pleasant experience with good draft beer and a variety of vegetarian and very meaty dishes! Staff is very friendly and helpful and the place offers a nice pub/brewery-ish atmosphere. Ideal for an evening out with friends!
