When delivered, Beacon & Cheese fries without bacon, special fries without onions and the wrong sauces that were paid for extra were also not delivered. But received a voucher after calling, so the review was corrected

It was delicious and arrived on time at the stated time. 👍🏼 We can't provide any information about the ambience, but we give each one a total of 5 stars because we're thrilled. 😀 At the turn of the year we even got a free currywurst with a code! After living in Bochum for 10 years, I can confidently say that the best currywurst in Germany is served at Bratwursthaus. Coming back to Bochum, it was an absolute must to get my currywurst fix, and it did not disappoint! I was pleasantly surprised to see how the menu has expanded since my last visit. The addition of vegan and vegetarian options is a fantastic upgrade. It’s great to see such a beloved local institution keeping up with the times while maintaining the same delicious quality they’re known for. Whether you’re a currywurst traditionalist or looking for a plant-based twist on this German classic, Bratwursthaus has something for everyone. I can’t recommend it enough to locals and visitors alike—it’s a must-visit spot in Bochum!

Ordered food: The (filled) pizza rolls are far too expensive and very small, definitely not worth it. The pizza tastes good, but unfortunately the previous pizza maker was much better. Here too the price is rather too high. 1 hour delivery time: ok, but pizza only came lukewarm

Really super tasty, vegan currywurst, the portion size was more than enough, I didn't quite make it. The fries were very pale and not great. But we'll be back for the vegan currywurst.

Mega bratwurst in many variations and much more. Only bar tables with and without bar stools. Staff very friendly and quick. Entrance is in a pedestrian zone. You can also pay by card.

Wirklich lecker! Gehen immer wieder gerne hin. Auswahl ist völlig ausreichend. Bedienung nett und unkompliziert. Steh- und Sitzmöglichkeiten sind vorhanden, nur bisschen unhygienisch, wenn da die Stadttauben rumfliegen... Gäste-WC leider nicht vorhanden.

Typical Ruhrpott charm with lots of local color. The currywurst is good, but certainly not as exceptional as is made out to be, except for the locals. I think any snack bar that works with good butcher sausages and home-made curry sauce can achieve the quality. Nevertheless, it was nice to have tried this currywurst.

Go to the city, you're hungry The only thing that helps is... currywurst... The Bratwursthaus is simply an institution in Bochum and one of the best currywurst stalls in Germany in the middle of the beautiful Bermuda3eck in the heart of the Potts. Dönninghaus Currywurst is really good and the fries are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - just perfect when the place isn't on fire and even then the people on site are always relaxed, unless it's Bochum relegation or on match days. For a stopover or to Bochumtotal a visit is mandatory and if you are in the 3eck you have to pay a visit. The price is okay at 6.90. Of course less would be better, but when it comes to the store I say it can cost more. I still go there because the quality is decisive, the staff are treated very well and even inclusion is not an empty phrase there, because the "restricted" works for 5 and has it full of it and yet I often see joy in and in front of the house. I'm already looking forward to my next stop with you

Wir haben heute 2 mal im Bratwursthaus online bestellt : das 1. und das letzte mal! Das Schnitzel so wie der Burgerpattie waren furztrocken und knüppelhart! Die Pommes labbrige Stängel! Der Anfahrtsweg war über 4 km, vielleicht kam es deshalb ziemlich kalt an. Im Grossen und Ganzen nicht zu empfehlen, zumindest Burger, Schnitzel und Pommes.

Always great food (one of the few places fries arrive as yummy as they should be), customizable dishes, many vegetarian options. Currywurst is their signature dish obviously but they also have the best wings in town and great pizza. We especially love their Uncle Sam specials, a twist on the golden arch BigM. Delivery is quick, efficient and reliable if we're ordering to a scheduled time in advance. Have ordered for larger groups too and everyone is happy because they have a variety of options.

I was there again after over 20 years. My tastes have probably changed since then, as the bratwurst in the bun no longer tasted as good to me as I remembered. Personally, it was too greasy for me. I also remembered the sausage being much longer (bigger). Now it's barely bigger than the bun. But who knows, maybe she was always this small and I remember it differently. The service was quick and friendly.

A cafeteria the German way. It can be very busy in the evenings and on weekends and you have to be prepared to be in a mess. There are many dishes, but all based on curry sausage or bratwurst, but luckily you can also just order a sausage.

Come from a shift, there's nothing nice... I thought it was more iconic than the person who ordered fries was given a "Hammwanich! Kriss 'n roll with it!" flew towards the other side, but hey: there should be a lot of sausage here and there's no wrongdoing -> The one from Dönninghaus belongs in the bowl and that's exactly what's crunchy here! Het is duidelijk geen restaurant maar Duitse versie van een cafetaria. In de avond uren zeer druk en bereid je maar voor op een lange rij dan . Door de populariteit prijzen aan de hoge kant. Buiten eten in de kou , als was eer aan de zijkant ook een overdekte ruimte. Veel variaties in gerechten maar het gaat natuurlijk om de bradwust die je ook gewoon gelukkig los kan bestellen !

First we entice Black Friday with a 2 for 1 discount, then it turns out that it only applies to a few products and then the code doesn't work - when there's just under 70 euros in the shopping cart, we're told we can't check out because we haven't reached 25 euros - even if you specify collection! Disaster with cell phone, but even when switching to PC nothing worked. Super old-fashioned, unfortunately. Tried in vain for almost an hour and also by phone. No chance. Our guests are just as happy.

I ate a "manta plate" there today. You can get really good currywurst here for a fairly reasonable price. The sauce is really great, I haven't had such a delicious currywurst in a long time!

You can't beat the friendliness and the currywurst/chips were the best we've eaten so far. We drove to the branch for their delivery service. We were then really pressed for time because the Starlight Express show was starting. Without asking from us, the employees and their boss immediately prepared everything for 4 people to eat immediately and we arrived on time for the performance. I have never experienced such friendliness (we are moving from Bavaria to the Pott... nope;))). I don't give a damn about any star-rated restaurant and their chicness, and if anyone deserves a Michelin star then it's the Bratwursthaus in Essen. We also bought the homemade curry sauce (best ever).

Very tasty but the portions of the currywurst fries have become so small that you can't get enough of them. I'm not the greatest and it costs almost 7 euros. Afterwards we went somewhere else to eat.

We were there recently and were looking forward to a special fries. However, we had to realize that the classic currywurst fries would probably have been better. The portion was good, a bit too much sauce, the sausage was tasty. But otherwise it's just an OK taste experience for far too much money. Next time we'd rather go the classic route, you could never go wrong with that at the Bratwursthaus =)

Ich musste unbedingt mit Berlin einen Vergleich haben , aber so enttäuscht war ich no nie . Currywurst na ja , wenn der Curry auf der Soße fehlt ist das keine Currywurst , vin der Kositenz nicht schlecht , aber geschmacklich viel zu lasch , Pommes waren Durchschnitt. Also da habe ich selbst in SH schon bessere Currywurst gegessen. Ich kann die guten bewertung nicht versethen. Und klein war die Wurst für das Geld leider auch noch .

Placed an order at 18:22. Earliest delivery option was for 19:40 to 20:00. Food finally came at 21:15. 3 hours for some sausage and fries. How stupid do you have to be to be that slow? Food is shit and overpriced also but the kids like it for some reason.

Update October 2024: Once again, the fries taste bland, and the sausage and curry sauce no longer taste like they used to. The employees seem annoyed and the prices no longer justify the quality of the food. It's a shame, there's a two star deduction for that.

The Bratwurst House in Bochum. Every city has its "King". In Bochum it's probably the Bratwursthaus. Very tasty currywurst, very tasty sauce. Fries and other dishes were also very tasty. Nevertheless, other cities also have their "King", I've eaten a lot of currywurst, that's why we went there specifically. Well, as I said, food good, ambience, no go. We remain loyal to our snack bar in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

As is the case with regular shops, everything always seems to have been a bit brighter, brighter, tastier, better. If I think back to ten or twelve years ago, I wouldn't compromise on classics like the Bochum plate compared to today. Currywurst, sauce & fries still taste great. I also tacitly accept disproportionate price increases of more than 50% if the quality is right, and that is what it is here. However, it seems to me personally as if the selection of special menus, which is reminiscent of Frittenwerk, significantly detracts from the charm of the establishment. Hipster creations with all due respect, but the Bratwursthaus thrives on its classics and not on fads. What upsets me the most is that, at least in my personal opinion, the service staff are no longer as nice and cool as they were five or six years ago. Today's student employees seem grumpy to me, almost snotty. I have no idea where the Ruhrpott happiness has disappeared to. It bothered me so much on my last three visits that in retrospect I would have preferred to avoid the visit.

Maybe the currywurst with fries and mayo was good here once, but not in 2024. €8.30 for a 100 gram sausage with mediocre, over-salted fries and SALAD MAYONAISE, which tastes more like something than mayonnaise and has the consistency of ointment The curry sauce tastes ok, but is full of cheap, indigestible and harmful ingredients such as glucose syrup, modified starch and flavoring. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case these days. My grandma would say you're doing too well!

Hello dear Bratwursthaus team, today was July 30th. 24 at 10:30 a.m. eating with you again. Currywurst fries double mayo. Currywurst sauce was great as always. I've had it before that the fries weren't in the deep fryer long enough, and next time when ordering I should say please leave the fries in the deep fryer for 2 minutes longer, which is what I did. The lady, a young blonde woman with a pigtail, told me that the fries had been there for a while and then served me the bowl with the currywurst fries with double mayo, so I went to the table and I also had a light one from Fiege, actually like always when I'm in town. And what can I say, the fries were again only half cooked and not cross and in combination with the sauce they were soggy. So I won't be eating fries there anymore and will only order currywurst. I've been a customer for probably 25 or 30 years. In the past they only served currywurst and bockwurst and the currywurst was a lot bigger than it is today. Well, it's just the passage of time. It's just a shame that they can't bake it with the fries. And I'm not the only one who says that, the table next door had the same problem. Oh and the light one from Fiege was great,😂😂😂. And as I said, I won't miss the currywurst. I'll continue to eat it when I come from Wattenscheid and am in Bochum (3 times a week). Kind regards, Uwe.

Today I initially waited in line on the left for 10 minutes. Then the employee called out to me from the window that card payments were not possible there and that I should go to the other line (a clearly visible sign would probably be too much to ask..) Then I went back to the back of the queue on the right. The employee who served there disappeared from the scene for a long time while serving a customer standing in front of me and was no longer seen. After waiting twice as long, I had enough. The fact that they now charge over €6 for a simple currywurst with a small portion of French fries and offers an impenetrable jungle of all sorts of pulled pork dishes etc. is another matter. I will avoid the store in the future. It's a shame, it used to be a nice place.

We were persuaded to come here, if you are in the Ruhr area you have to try the currywurst… The portion of currywurst/chips was completely sufficient for the price, the taste was amazing (spicy) we love it… the chips were first class… There are 3 stars because the guy at the serving window was so unfriendly... we asked about drinks and when we asked again he turned away and answered the same game and just read the answer yourself... Yup... Everything is great except the young man...

The food is very tasty and freshly prepared, authentic and a must for every Bochum resident. The service is very friendly and helpful and typically Ruhrpott. Unfortunately, there are a few unfriendly homeless people in the area who beg or loudly tell themselves. But peaceful...

I knew the store from documentaries and YouTube videos. Apparently the best currywurst in Germany. I had to wait in line for a very long time and the staff didn't even say hello. Unfortunately I didn't like it that much. I found the fries underwhelming, quite bland and a bit too crispy for my taste, although I generally don't like these fries with the skin on. But hey, the mayo was great. I don't know if I was unlucky or if it's always like that, but I found the curry sauce way too spicy (I usually like spicy food) and it would probably have made children cry. Unfortunately, the spicy taste almost completely overshadowed the rest of the taste. But the sausage itself was delicious, that's why it gets the 3 stars.

Like the same good original Dönninghaus currywurst for years. For me the only true currywurst is the one from Dönninghaus :) In my opinion, value for money is also very good.

The fries are delicious, the different versions are very good and there is something for everyone. Standing in line is no fun 🤣🤣🤣🤣but that was relatively quick. The hungry pigeons are now just part of the atmosphere but live and let live ;)

Currywurst-Pommes-Majo. 8 Euro. Alles ist teurer geworden. Trotzdem. Aber. Ich habe heute die Currywurst und die Pommes getrennt bestellt. Die Pappschale ist die gleiche. Daraus folgt - bescheissen ist so einfach. Einfach nur die halbe Portion Pommes in die Schale. Und die Wurst dazu. Die Wurst ist im übrigen auch ziemlich geschrumpft. Sowohl in der Größe als auch im Geschmack. Das ganze war heute derart überzeugend, dass ich heute wohl das letzte Mal da war.
