Good, tasty, cheap, great location, nice, attractive service.

As promised, here is a TOP rating. Mega location, super friendly staff (even watering the greens for a chat 😊) and really delicious currywurst. Other would-be top dogs in this area can really pack a punch. And also really great in terms of price. We are really happy that there is an online shop, so we can order up to Stralsund and enjoy it again, although unfortunately without any funny conversations. Thanks for a great experience today!!!

As always, the currywurst was absolutely great. But the fries could be improved a lot... I was very disappointed. It's great that you can buy packs of 10 sausages and various sauces to take with you on site.

The Bratwurst House in Bochum. Every city has its "King". In Bochum it's probably the Bratwursthaus. Very tasty currywurst, very tasty sauce. Fries and other dishes were also very tasty. Nevertheless, other cities also have their "King", I've eaten a lot of currywurst, that's why we went there specifically. Well, as I said, food good, ambience, no go. We remain loyal to our snack bar in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

It's definitely worth queuing for one of the tastiest curry sausages I've ever tasted. It's best to use something not quite everyday, such as the version with chili cheese.

As is the case with regular shops, everything always seems to have been a bit brighter, brighter, tastier, better. If I think back to ten or twelve years ago, I wouldn't compromise on classics like the Bochum plate compared to today. Currywurst, sauce & fries still taste great. I also tacitly accept disproportionate price increases of more than 50% if the quality is right, and that is what it is here. However, it seems to me personally as if the selection of special menus, which is reminiscent of Frittenwerk, significantly detracts from the charm of the establishment. Hipster creations with all due respect, but the Bratwursthaus thrives on its classics and not on fads. What upsets me the most is that, at least in my personal opinion, the service staff are no longer as nice and cool as they were five or six years ago. Today's student employees seem grumpy to me, almost snotty. I have no idea where the Ruhrpott happiness has disappeared to. It bothered me so much on my last three visits that in retrospect I would have preferred to avoid the visit.

Totally overrated! Maybe the currywurst with fries and mayo was good here once, but not in 2024. €8.30 for a 100 gram sausage with mediocre, over-salted fries and SALAD MAYONAISE, which tastes more like something than mayonnaise and has the consistency of ointment The curry sauce tastes ok, but is full of cheap, indigestible and harmful ingredients such as glucose syrup, modified starch and flavoring. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case these days. My grandma would say you're doing too well!

Hello dear Bratwursthaus team, today was July 30th. 24 at 10:30 a.m. eating with you again. Currywurst fries double mayo. Currywurst sauce was great as always. I've had it before that the fries weren't in the deep fryer long enough, and next time when ordering I should say please leave the fries in the deep fryer for 2 minutes longer, which is what I did. The lady, a young blonde woman with a pigtail, told me that the fries had been there for a while and then served me the bowl with the currywurst fries with double mayo, so I went to the table and I also had a light one from Fiege, actually like always when I'm in town. And what can I say, the fries were again only half cooked and not cross and in combination with the sauce they were soggy. So I won't be eating fries there anymore and will only order currywurst. I've been a customer for probably 25 or 30 years. In the past they only served currywurst and bockwurst and the currywurst was a lot bigger than it is today. Well, it's just the passage of time. It's just a shame that they can't bake it with the fries. And I'm not the only one who says that, the table next door had the same problem. Oh and the light one from Fiege was great,😂😂😂. And as I said, I won't miss the currywurst. I'll continue to eat it when I come from Wattenscheid and am in Bochum (3 times a week). Kind regards, Uwe.

Today I initially waited in line on the left for 10 minutes. Then the employee called out to me from the window that card payments were not possible there and that I should go to the other line (a clearly visible sign would probably be too much to ask..) Then I went back to the back of the queue on the right. The employee who served there disappeared from the scene for a long time while serving a customer standing in front of me and was no longer seen. After waiting twice as long, I had enough. The fact that they now charge over €6 for a simple currywurst with a small portion of French fries and offers an impenetrable jungle of all sorts of pulled pork dishes etc. is another matter. I will avoid the store in the future. It's a shame, it used to be a nice place.

We were persuaded to come here, if you are in the Ruhr area you have to try the currywurst… The portion of currywurst/chips was completely sufficient for the price, the taste was amazing (spicy) we love it… the chips were first class… There are 3 stars because the guy at the serving window was so unfriendly... we asked about drinks and when we asked again he turned away and answered the same game and just read the answer yourself... Yup... Everything is great except the young man...

The food is very tasty and freshly prepared, authentic and a must for every Bochum resident. The service is very friendly and helpful and typically Ruhrpott. Unfortunately, there are a few unfriendly homeless people in the area who beg or loudly tell themselves. But peaceful...

The currywurst is great, no question. However, the prices are quite high considering the portions.

I knew the store from documentaries and YouTube videos. Apparently the best currywurst in Germany. I had to wait in line for a very long time and the staff didn't even say hello. Unfortunately I didn't like it that much. I found the fries underwhelming, quite bland and a bit too crispy for my taste, although I generally don't like these fries with the skin on. But hey, the mayo was great. I don't know if I was unlucky or if it's always like that, but I found the curry sauce way too spicy (I usually like spicy food) and it would probably have made children cry. Unfortunately, the spicy taste almost completely overshadowed the rest of the taste. But the sausage itself was delicious, that's why it gets the 3 stars.

Fries nice and crispy and well seasoned, good bratwurst, the sauce was slightly spicy, just great 👍 I've known the shop for years and have never eaten there because it's always crazy!!!! WAS FULL!!!! Fries currywurst with mayo for the first time here today and what can I say... fries below average in terms of taste and quantity. The sausage was good, the curry sauce was also good... but nothing more. What's the hype?

Like the same good original Dönninghaus currywurst for years. For me the only true currywurst is the one from Dönninghaus :) In my opinion, value for money is also very good.

Currywurst-Pommes-Majo. 8 Euro. Alles ist teurer geworden. Trotzdem. Aber. Ich habe heute die Currywurst und die Pommes getrennt bestellt. Die Pappschale ist die gleiche. Daraus folgt - bescheissen ist so einfach. Einfach nur die halbe Portion Pommes in die Schale. Und die Wurst dazu. Die Wurst ist im übrigen auch ziemlich geschrumpft. Sowohl in der Größe als auch im Geschmack. Das ganze war heute derart überzeugend, dass ich heute wohl das letzte Mal da war.

The fries are delicious, the different versions are very good and there is something for everyone. Standing in line is no fun 🤣🤣🤣🤣but that was relatively quick. The hungry pigeons are now just part of the atmosphere but live and let live ;)

However, I have to say that the sausage is a bit too small, the employees are really committed and friendly and everything always goes pretty quickly. I grew up with the Bratwursthaus, they existed over 30 years ago and of course they looked a little different back then.

Pretty much anyone can make good currywurst if they want, but it tastes perfect in the Bermuda Triangle 👌!! Everything just fits... The hearty bratwurst is showcased really well by the sophisticated creations and is simply delicious in combination with the hot fries 🤗!! Grade 1*

We ordered currywurst menus. Delicious. Sausage, fries, salad, desserts were all excellent. The home-made lemonades are particularly worth mentioning. When we are back in the area there will be another round.

We ordered food from you for the first time this evening (Sunday 7 p.m.) and are very, very satisfied. The food was a little late but the nice employee on the phone let us know straight away. In the next 20 minutes the food arrived and tasted like it had been freshly ordered at the counter. Fries and everything else were nice and hot and individually wrapped so that nothing got soggy. The colleague who brought the food was also super friendly. So completely satisfied all around. Service 10/10 Food 10/10. Since the colleague got there so quickly, we were too slow with the tip. You'll get twice that on your next order! Thanks to the team ☺️

The first-class quality of the sausages and sauces from the Bratwursthaus has long been beyond question for me.
 But I have never heard of such first-class service and had never experienced it until yesterday. DHL returned an order to the Bratwursthaus for no apparent reason and I didn't have any suitable sauces for my planned party. The guys from the Bratwursthaus managed to personally deliver the misplaced order to me just in time for my event. You are heroes!!!! Thank you!!!

I was always told that this place was where currywurst started. You'll see some photos of celebrities going there to try the famous currywurst. Whether it's true or not doesn't matter to me because it is SO GOOD! The sausages are just perfect and the fries are crunchy. We held our welcome dinner here for our wedding guests and they did such an amazing job - reserving tables and decorating it for us. Ordering was easy and hassle-free. Alex and her staff were very, very nice and accommodating. We had a good time and all our guests were happy to experience an authentic German dish from this wonderful establishment.

The Bochum menu - really the best choice if you want a really good snack. Atmosphere great, good and diverse offering. It's worth visiting here often.

A great restaurant with delicious food. We enjoyed our fries with currywurst (also in a vegan version) at the bar tables at the finest Sommeretter with a view of the T-Rex. There were also some stools - good for the children. Price-wise, completely okay. Nice and friendly service. We'll definitely come by again, even without the T-Rex 😉

One of the best bratwurst stalls and has been for many years. The offer is always top fresh. The prices are, let's say, not to everyone's taste. But we find them appropriate for most dishes. However, since public traffic has changed so much, we are only there very rarely. But if we're there anyway, a good currywurst is a must! Parking garage within walking distance. Subway station directly below. And a big compliment to the almost always friendly team.

Was there yesterday for the second time. The currywurst was well cooked despite my early arrival (half an hour after opening). I took them with fries, mayo and a cola. Very tasty curry sauce and also a good portion of mayo on the fries. With a 0.3 liter cola from a glass bottle, which was also well chilled, the whole thing came to just under €10. You really can't complain about that. The staff is also very friendly. I would definitely like to come back if I end up in Bochum

He's so motivated at work that I've never seen before :) totally polite and now he can't be bothered. I've never seen a person like that who radiates such positive energy. You'll be happy to go out to eat when you're greeted so politely. Eine Currywurst die Ihresgleichen sucht. Sie ist in Bochum seit mehreren Jahrzehnten eine Instanz. Durchgehend gut und lecker ist hier nicht nur die Currywurst sondern auch die Pommes - das Konzept ist über die Jahre bunter geworden und das ist gut denn quch die Pommes in modern sind super… es gibt einfach keine bessere Currywurst !

Freundliche und schnelle Mitarbeiter. Und das beste was ich an Currywurst gegessen habe. Und als Highlight ,sind die Preise für die heutige Zeit auch sehr human.

I come to bochum yearly for work and I always visit this place, usually after a few beers in one of the excellent Bermuda Triangle pubs. Quick service, food is excellent and you can even get a beer too. Don't kid yourself, this isn't gourmet dining, it's fast food...but it's good fast food.

Every trip is worth it - I'm from Bavaria in Bochum 1-2 times a year and I always look forward to my currywurst from the master of the Bratwursthaus. Tasty tasty :)

Here you can get the original Bochum Dönninghaus Currywurst. Unfortunately it is completely overcrowded on weekends and therefore it is like a mass procession.
