Everything is simply delicious and of the best quality. Homemade sauces, nothing out of the bucket. Friendly old school service. You can tell in everything that a trained specialist is working here. That's why I like to come to WAT from DO more often.

Four stars for my previous experiences, zero stars for today's. The good food quality at still fair prices and the charming atmosphere make it worth the longer drive. It's just annoying to find a completely empty counter at 7:50 pm, with only the unpleasantly strong smell of cleaning products in the air. If extending the opening hours isn't profitable, the information on Google (until 8:30 pm) and on the website (until 9:00 pm) should be changed.

Super schnitzel very friendly staff

Never again!! The salad bar was filthy and run-down. I bought chicken. It was strange that they had to rummage through the chicken to find the oldest piece. Then they fried it to death in old oil in the deep fryer. Instead of throwing it away, they tried to make money off it. It's not what it used to be!! It's an outrage to offer something like that!

So far, everything is fine at this chip shop. A few things aren't to my personal taste, but my girlfriend likes going there. All in all, the price-performance ratio is perfectly acceptable, and the food tastes pretty good.

A typical Ruhr area chip shop. With Bochum flair, heart and soul, they cook and serve here, and you can get a good, generous portion of food. The service is quick and friendly, and they bring the food to your table. I always enjoy coming here. Great! 👍

It's a good German snack bar. The owner is very nice, but unfortunately he makes great schnitzel, not his own meatballs. A little more craftsmanship would be nice.

Since Raimund opened his professional grill, I've been a regular there, especially since he continues the delicious tradition of "Kurt's Frikadelle & Sauce." Of course, the food is generally fantastic, and Raimund is incredibly customer-oriented, but even now, over 30 years later, that Frikadelle still draws me down from Höntrop to stock up on a few. I'm absolutely terrified that if the professional grill ever closes, my "Fricki Kurt" era will come to an end. I wouldn't know where to get them then. It's a shame that this isn't sorted out beforehand, like it was for "Grandpa Kurt" back in the day. But putting that aside, the professional grill definitely gets top marks overall, if only for its early opening hours, friendly owner, pan-fried schnitzel, and all sorts of other delicious treats.

A snack bar that hasn't been renovated in 20 years. We ordered currywurst and a mixed grill. The currywurst was okay, but nothing special; the fries were too hard, and the sauce was really bad. The gyros on the mixed grill was alright, but the pork schnitzel was completely dry and tough—like shoe leather. The furniture and the floor were badly worn and greasy to the touch. We wouldn't eat there again.

Unfortunately, we don't have anything close to such a great chip shop in Münster... Everything's just fantastic... And we once wanted to be the European Capital of Culture...

Overrated. A run-down chip shop with cobwebs and nicotine stains in the corners is being called the heart of the Ruhr region. Well, okay. In times when everyone who's ever seen a miner's German Shepherd greets you with "Glückauf" (a traditional miner's greeting) – well, that's acceptable. If at least the sauce (quite tasty, but not enough curry), the sausage (yes, it had flavor, but there wasn't enough), and the fries (half a plateful, well-fried) had been exceptional. But they weren't; you could find something like that on every corner 40 years ago.

A lovely Ruhr area-style grill. You rarely find them like this anymore. The atmosphere is great, the service is charmingly down-to-earth, and the food is okay. Unfortunately, expectations are too high because the grill is so highly praised. It's a good standard, worth a visit. Just don't expect too much.

For us out-of-towners, it was exciting: a very rustic, "traditionally German" snack bar. The currywurst with fries was very good. But the decor definitely takes you back to the 90s. The prices are extremely reasonable by 2025 standards. 2x currywurst with fries + drinks for less than €20.

My uncle invited me, the best currywurst, well, lots of fries, otherwise you had to look for sausage, thin fries, so short service. Ambience, lots of tables, tight if someone next to you wants to get up you have to get up to let them out, 2 smaller tables would be better. Next to us there was a standing table but with a stool, 2 of them for sitting down, tasty when 2 people sit there where the bottom is much too big, mm, tasty. So I'm currently visiting here and there are much better chip shops in NRW. PS the 2 steps at the entrance were very clear. With that in mind

Finally, a real "chip shop" like the ones we used to know from the old days. We ordered a classic currywurst with fries and mayo, and everything was absolutely delicious. - The prices were fair. - The food selection was good. - The atmosphere in the small, owner-operated snack bar was friendly, informal, and familiar. We'll definitely be back. I promise.

We went to Profi Grill yesterday, having traveled all the way from Mühlheim and Gelsenkirchen. We had the recommended Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes. It was simply excellent. The service and owner were very friendly. You have to like the ambiance, but it's part of a rustic snack bar. "Highly recommended"—they should give both the food and service an extra star. We'll be back.

Raimund Ostendrop's professional grill is pure Ruhrpott—exactly as you'd imagine. The sausage was truly delicious and absolutely convincing. However, it's important to keep in mind that they're not reinventing the wheel here—it's classic, down-to-earth, and familiar. The first impression wasn't misleading. A chip shop like I remembered from the past. Unfortunately, it's almost nonexistent these days. The fries were well-fried, accompanied by a currywurst. The sauce was a dream; not a uniform mix. Thanks to the recipe published on the owner's website, I can recreate it myself.

So, just because I asked for a menu, I was treated like a nuisance. They wanted a bill, the same thing. Rudeness could hardly be surpassed. It was better back then, and I don't recommend it anymore.

After being sliced, the bratwurst is pushed onto the plate by hand instead of being cut directly on the plate like in other fast food establishments. That's too unappetizing for me.

What a fantastic chip shop, as we say in the Ruhr region. It truly lives up to its name, Profi Grill. The currywurst and fries were amazing, and the service was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it.

A genuine German snack bar, the staff is always friendly. The owner himself is often there and is happy to stop by for a quick chat with each guest. Rustic decor—yes, I like it that way, but I've heard otherwise. You should plan on having some time at lunchtime because it can get quite busy and many people want the great food. Everything I've eaten there so far has been perfect; there's simply nothing I can't recommend. We've been going there since the beginning in the 90s and will stick with it until the bitter end.

Well, I don't understand where all the positive reviews come from. It was the first and last time I ate there. Fries with shish kebab. The shish kebab is heated up in the microwave, the sauce is completely watery and tastes excessively of bay leaves. The fries are soggy, the fat in the fryer is black and stinks. The grilled sausages are stacked on the griddle, and to warm them up, they're thrown into the fryer, where they then make more fries. The general cleanliness is awful. The staff is nice, but that doesn't help matters. After waiting 5 minutes, you smell like you've spent a day behind the fryer yourself.

It's a good place to meet up with friends. There's a playground with sports equipment opposite. The food is delicious. 10 out of 10

The food is simply amazing for a chip shop and the price is right! When I still lived in Düsseldorf, I used to drive by often. The interior is a bit dated, but the food is perfectly fine. It's kind of part of the atmosphere. It's a bit far from Munich, but when I'm home, a visit is a must.

Unfriendly, anti-family, and bad food We went there with our young son and were immediately treated rudely. When we ordered, the waitress couldn't be quick enough and made a cheeky, arrogant comment. Overall, the tone was extremely unfriendly and snotty – as a guest, you feel absolutely unwelcome there, especially not with a child. Family-friendly is a different story. But the food was also a disappointment: The schnitzel came out of the pan, but was still cold inside – obviously only fried very briefly. The frikandeln were the same: warm on the outside, cold on the inside, obviously carelessly thrown into the fryer and far too short a time. The taste was unfortunately just as disappointing as the service. A waste of time and money – we definitely won't be back.

Today, a gyro plate and CPM: Both delicious! The gyros were juicy, the fries were fresh, the sausage was not run-of-the-mill, and the curry sauce was delicious. Not a sloppy, sugary ketchup mess.

I've rarely experienced a shashlik that tastes so round, so robust, so homemade, and yet has nothing to do with packet sauce. Here, the sauce is still stirred with love, not adulterated with powder. Salad? Fresh. Chips? Perfect. And the sauces are a revelation... Atmosphere? Well, more of a kiosk than a brasserie, but that's precisely the charm. We're in the Ruhr area, and that's exactly how it should be. Nobody wants Instagram here; you want to be full and feel like a king in your kitchen chair. Conclusion: If you're in Bochum and hungry, don't go anywhere, go here. The sheriff says: Anyone can make Michelin-starred food, but taste with character? Not that.

We drove a special 45 minutes to eat the highly praised currywurst. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth it... The currywurst was mediocre, and there was no taste of the former Michelin-starred chef. The tables were dirty, the floor was sticky, and there were plenty of used plates lying around.

It looked really inviting, and the atmosphere inside was nice and homey, but the food was so bad. Currywurst fries: No salt added. Five currywursts, and the sauce tasted like nothing. Very bland and an extremely meager portion. 6€50, but a good price.

The bratwurst was served in bread that was far too large and dry, which completely suppressed the flavor of the sausage and made the dish overall unpleasant. Not only was the meat too dry, but it was also raw in the middle, which was very unpleasant to eat. The cheese wasn't even melted, which is a must for a burger. The tomatoes were way too big and took up too much space in the burger, so the ratio of ingredients was completely unbalanced. In addition, the atmosphere in the store was anything but pleasant. There was an unpleasant smell because the exhaust air wasn't working properly. The smell made the stay even more uncomfortable and added to an overall bad experience. I hope this feedback helps improve both the quality of the food and the ambience. The potential is there, but unfortunately it was a very disappointing meal at the moment.”

I cannot confirm the statement that gluten-free is possible here. When I asked, the waitress told me that she didn't know what was gluten-free and what wasn't. Since I don't want to take any risks, I unfortunately decided not to order.

I was happy that there was still a chip shop like before. Like in my childhood. Unfortunately the joy didn't last long. The lady behind the counter was so incredibly unfriendly that I wanted to leave. But I was hungry so I didn't let myself be annoyed and ordered food. That was really done quickly. I quickly realized why it was finished so quickly. The fries weren't cooked through. The shish kebab was cold, only the currywurst was still warm. But unfortunately the currywurst wasn't tasty. I am very disappointed. The prices are okay.

I was just there Gyros with rice (red with vegetables) Rice really disgusting I spat it out straight away Gyros with so much gyro seasoning that you get the impression that the meat was already bad and you have to cover it up also threw it away Meatball tastes the same but with cartilage and even 2 pieces of bone and fat to no end Unfortunately I had it to take away otherwise I would have fired the dirt behind the counter My conclusion I will never eat this crap again.

Absolutely recommended. Had a Jäger-style schnitzel/Jägersschnitzel. The meat was very tender and the breading was crispy. The sauce is a poem. As far as I can tell: Natural taste without the use of artificial sodium glutamate. Maybe different than usual, but definitely delicious. The fries that came with it were also just right. I will definitely come back when I am in the region.

Was just a test meal! Well attended, the Po.Bu...like before! Tried the bratwurst without anything (simply too ordinary for a advertised butcher's sausage! But it's okay! Plus the shashlik (not a skewer) came out of the pot, a kind of goulash, onions in a separate bowl next to it were added on top! Taste was OK too, thin fries were nothing special but OK! The advertised "schnitzel from the pan" came next to the sausage and fried egg on the griddle/splash pan... they are homemade breaded, but in a pan with clarified butter they are naturally nicer and there is no foreign taste of other sausage, egg, etc. The cleanliness and order still leaves a lot of room for improvement!!! In the cooking area and at/under the tables! The ladies seemed very stressed, which is also noticeable in the way they handled the food!! As an amateur cook, I prefer to be in the kitchen myself! I know what's going on there!! Otherwise, the concept sounded great on TV when Björn Freitag was there. Good! A top chef (or former one) will know that! Thanks. Just eat at a chip shop!😋

Top snack! Simply cult and always good

There were three of us and we ate bratwurst and currywurst fries because everything else didn't look very inviting and the staff seemed superficial and somehow not very well looked after. The atmosphere seemed old and worn out and didn't invite me to linger. We were served quickly, the prices were moderate, but the sausage could only be described as warm and the curry sauce was too little curry, not spicy and too sweet in my opinion. The slot machine right at the entrance doesn't seem very inviting, especially since the players are blocking the entrance area.

We recently visited the professional grill in Bochum-Wattenscheid and tried the shish kebab with fries mayonnaise - and what can I say? It was really delicious! The shish kebab itself was incredibly tender, almost buttery, and literally melted in your mouth. The sauce that went with it was an absolute highlight - spicy, creamy and simply perfectly balanced, it gave the dish that certain something. The fries with mayonnaise were crispy and rounded the whole thing off perfectly. The employees were very friendly. The trip from Essen to Bochum Wattenscheid was worth it. Clear recommendation for anyone who loves hearty, delicious snack classics.

I've been a regular customer for over 20 years and still come by occasionally when I'm in the area. Unfortunately, the professional grill has declined massively in recent years: Open until 9 p.m., it can happen that you find yourself standing in front of the closed doors from 8:15 p.m. and watching the staff sweep away. In general, the staff: The service is completely confused and gets in each other's way, one employee stands out not only because of her disgustingly long fingernails (a no-go in the restaurant) with which she grabs the sausage on the grill (without gloves), but above all because of her extremely unfriendly, snotty manner towards the customer ("Yes, what do you want?" - where I come from they say "Hello"). That's not possible, and charging to the detriment of the customer (even though the price board is clearly visible behind the counter) is certainly not possible (especially not getting rude when the error is politely pointed out -- and no, I can sell myself better for being stupid, I don't need any outside help for that). Something is clearly wrong here, because when the boss is in the house, the ladies pull together. But woe betide you when the cat is out of the house... the deep fryer is swept up and served up. Addition: It should perhaps be made clear once and for all that the owner is NOT a star chef. The man learned his craft in the catering industry and spent a few years standing behind the stove in the kitchen of a star restaurant in Düsseldorf and swinging the pans and pots. Then he got fed up with the stress in the kitchen and opened his own shop at the opposite end of the spectrum.

My currywurst with fries tasted good, the deciding factor was the curry sauce, which tasted very good! I took the food with me, but wouldn't eat there on site! Unfortunately, the currywurst and fries were in a kind of plastic pot, with the currywurst lying under the fries! A wider bowl would be more practical when eating without having to dig for the sausage 😉. The service was friendly 😉. My request: Please create an even nicer atmosphere!! The eye eats too 😉

The cooking here is just as good or bad as in other grills. Ruhrpott atmosphere or not, being a star chef doesn't mean that everything is better here. We could have saved ourselves the journey.

This is how a chip shop should be. Fries, currywurst, super tasty, old school decor, service great and price/performance ratio is completely fine. If you are in Bochum and want fries and currywurst, you have to go there. Definitely worth it! 5 out of 5 👍
