BLOCK HOUSE Friedrichstraße in Berlin

Not for the first time, we ordered menus to be picked up. The meat and the baked potato were nothing to complain about. The salad was great as expected. We almost lost our faith when we unwrapped the "Teriyaki Pepper Cream Sauce" and the "Crammed Mushroom Skillet": - 2 whole peppercorns in the pepper sauce - predominantly mushroom stalks (90%) in the "mushroom pan" - the taste can be changed as desired. That ruins the whole menu. We are not used to this poor quality from the Block House on Friedrichstrasse. Too bad

My visit to BLOCK HOUSE Friedrichstraße was amazing! The atmosphere is pleasant, the service was excellent, and the food was simply perfect. I had a steak, and it was cooked exactly as I wanted – juicy and full of flavor. The setting is cozy, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. I’ll definitely be coming back!

One of the best steak restaurants in Germany

We'd booked a couple of days beforehand and would strongly suggest as the restaurant was very popular. To start we had goulash soup and a small salad... the soup was very tasty, and the salad well presented. Then we both chose filet mignon... both cooked exactly as ordered. Unfortunately no room for dessert! The staff spoke good English but were happy to try out our very poor German, they were attentive and very polite. The restaurant is in a good location, very easy to get to and accessible. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening 😀

Éramos un grupo de 10 damas que nos visitaron para almorzar. Nuestra camarera, Anja, era muy amable y manejó nuestros pedidos sin ningún problema. Teníamos una mezcla de comedores de carne y vegetarianos y había un montón para elegir en el menú. El ambiente del restaurante era bueno. Los baños están abajo, sin embargo, tienen un baño separado para cualquier visitante discapacitado. El precio de las comidas son muy razonables, así como la elección de bebidas. The food was OK to good, the steaks were expertly cooked. I've never seen such small portions in a steakhouse (I don't mean the meat): never even such a tiny lava cake. By the way, the Italian salad dressing is not made with olive oil. Kudos to the service: fast, attentive and friendly. It was very crowded, which is good for the restaurant, but has a very negative effect on the noise. In order to understand your table partner, you have to talk quite loudly, which in turn adds to the volume. Comparatively, it was relatively expensive, but that was also due to the location. Conclusion: you can definitely eat here if you are nearby and then go to the theater afterwards. Coming here just for the restaurant is less worthwhile. But I'll definitely come back if I have to go to the Distel or the Admiralspalast afterwards.

The tastiest steaks I've ever eaten!!! We were at the restaurant on Saturday evening and had to wait for a table. But while we waited, they brought us free wine. When ordering a steak, they also bring salad, baked potatoes and bread. The salad is brought almost immediately to eat while you wait for the steak. Everything is incredibly tasty. The service is also good. I wholeheartedly recommend this institution!!!

very good experience. the restaurant is centrally located and is within walking distance of most things in the central area of ​​berlin. They serve great dishes and I chose the American Tenderloin. it tasted amazing and was cooked perfectly! it wasn't the cheapest but it was definitely worth the price. I could probably have paid a little more for the same product. The venue is nice. This was a really nice place to spend my mother's 50th birthday.

The one place I was excited to eat out in Berlin was the Block house and it definitely lives up to the expectations. They have a wide variety of Stake offerings with adequate sides with bread and salad. The licther was too good. The most electric part was the service- good English spoken guys doing service and English menus are available. The sitting arrangement can improve as there is always a long queue and waiting for 15-20mins. Keep up the good food guys.

Wow, I can’t believe what a great experience it was dining here. My boyfriend and I are visiting from Canada and were looking for a nice dinner date. We found this place next to the hotel and decided to try it out. Something that really stood out to me was the exceptional service despite being fully packed, and how seriously they took my nut allergies. Our server read the allergen menu and checked everything. The food was delicious and my steak was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend checking it out!

Mi marido y yo vinimos aquí para cenar y nos quedamos gratamente sorprendidos - fue muy bueno. La ensalada viene con una selección de aderezo y tuvimos ajo - había una mezcla de ingredientes estándar de ensalada con semillas de calabaza - encantador. El bistec fue cocinado a la perfección. No me gusta la crema agria así que pedí mi chaqueta sin lo cual no hubo problema. El pan de ajo que viene con él era delicioso! Compartimos un pudín. Precio razonable por la calidad. Buen servicio. Very nice restaurant and was pleasantly busy. No reservation and already a table after 15 minutes. While waiting we were given a drink from the company. The food is very good and tasty. Tender meat and great service. The food was prepared quickly and definitely recommended if you are in Berlin. I would definitely come back again. Price and quality ratio is top.

We were there again after a long time and were thrilled. Food was great as usual, but the service was absolutely great. We had to wait in line for a bit in front of the restaurant, but a lady at the restaurant took such great care of the customers, regularly letting us know how long it would take, etc. The restaurant has a children's menu and immediately something for them to paint/play with little ones. Today I spontaneously went to Block House Friedrichstrasse around 5 p.m. A very friendly employee asked me whether I wanted to sit at the counter or at the table. I chose the counter. I was served very friendly and politely. My waiter was Mohammad Deek. A very friendly and attentive young man. Because of the direct proximity to the counter, I got drinks directly from the "barman" (trainee), also a very considerate, friendly employee. I enjoyed the food very much. I had skirt steak from the regular menu and also opted for a “pre-salad” for €3. This was freshly prepared by my waiter and was very rich and tasty. The sirloin steak with fries, garlic bread and coleslaw garnish was also very tasty, well seasoned and hot! This was definitely not the last time I came here. I'll be back next time I visit Berlin! Unlike most chain restaurants, this Block House on Friedrichstraße stands out with its unique charm, offering not only the signature Block House quality but also a distinctive atmosphere that makes it a special dining experience.

It was just great. We received a friendly welcome at 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve without a reservation. Great service, fun evening.

Even though I'm from Berlin and tend to avoid places that are overcrowded with tourists, I was very excited. Food was great. Steak very tasty and to the point. Salad and baked potatoes are also great. They even put some sourcream on the table. One of the few steakhouses where I have experienced this. Our waitress Luise was great. Friendly, patient, always keeping an eye on the table. Always a kind word and a smile despite the store being full. Many waitresses can take a lesson from this. I would definitely go there again. The star deduction for the ambience is due to the size and because the crowd is a bit hectic.

We tried Tomato Bruschetta Beef Carpaccio as a starter and liked it. Main course MR. RUMPSTEAK and New York cheese burger were very delicious and juicy. We preferred it well cooked. For dessert, Apfelstrudel was also good. We are very full. It's too much. Even one plate of main course is enough for 2 people. The environment is very nice and high quality and the staff are very nice, polite and helpful. I made a reservation.

Fui allí hoy 30 / 12 / 24 y el lugar estaba muy ocupado. Como estaba solo, me metieron enseguida. Me enseñaron el menú y opté por la ensalada de gambas que venía con un buen trozo de pan de ajo y un Ribeye de 12 oz que también venía con pan de ajo, papa chaqueta con crema agria y una ensalada lateral. El servicio era excelente y el personal muy atento y siempre preguntando si la comida estaba bien, lo cual era obvio. Mi consejo sería reservar con antelación ya que cuando me iba, todavía había de 10 a 15 esperando fuera por una mesa disponible.

Good welcome and very good meat

Absolutely delicious. It was my first time here and we visited as a team for lunch. I have absolutely loved this place. Had American Tenderloin as steak with mashed potato with salad in Italian dressing, also carrot-ginger soup, tomatoe-bruschetta and tomato-burrata and french fries as side dish, lava cake with walnut-caramel ice cream. And every single one of these tasted absolutely delicious. As it was not enought how a good meal all we ate was, we were once again schocked by the amazing dessert:) Wonderful quality and fast and also kind service. We had a blonde mid-aged gentleman serving our table and he was super nice.

Very bad, I always enjoyed eating there. But yesterday was horrible. Kitchen dirty, poor quality meat full of tendons, coleslaw salad old and had nothing to do with a standard dish. We are good guests and our bill was 130 euros plus tip is 140 euros. It wasn't worth it. You should definitely carry out a quality control.

Here for dinner with 7 colleagues. Steaks were delicious as always and the service was perfect. Blockhouse is always great.

Expensive, and uninteresting cuisine.

The food at this place was great. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars for service was because we came in an a 10pm and the restaurant closes at 11. We kind of felt rushed and noticed the servers annoyance with us coming in. Mind you we were out of there by 10:45 so that either shows the food come out fast or we were rushed. Nobody was rude to us directly at all. Anyhow beef tartar is a must have. I didn’t take pictures as it was so good and I was hungry. The steaks were perfectly seasoned cooked to the perfect temperature. Also I am not a bread person but the bread was so good😌. Restaurant wasn’t busy for Friday night either and walked in no reservation needed. Took pictures of the aftermath of the delicious food. Empty plates show I will definitely come back again.

We were there yesterday with my parents. You should definitely make a reservation if you go in the evening as it is fully booked to the last table. However, the service was very quick, attentive and friendly. The starter, the salad and the main course came quicker than expected. The food was very tasty. We'd love to come back!

Queríamos un buen filete para el cumpleaños de mi esposa mientras estábamos en Berlín y eso es exactamente lo que teníamos. Este parece ser un restaurante de cadena especializado en filetes. After 5 minutes we were seated, greeted by the host of the station, given advice and information, quickly served through the courses and completely happy and satisfied. Always happy because we Hamburgers feel at home everywhere at Block House and the boss had a very friendly greeting. Near Alex, Block House was completely overcrowded and so we were happy to be here on Friedrichstrasse. It was once again a nice evening with friends and also with friends, so to speak.

Wednesday is “rump steak” day. It sometimes happens that the sirloin steak is already sold out. In these cases, however, you will be informed of this at reception. Not today... First of all we were ignored at the entrance for 10 to 15 minutes. OK. Then we went to the table (there were three of us). When we wanted to order (we had to wait 10 minutes for the waitress to come), they said that the sirloin steak was sold out. Unfortunately, so much of the lunch break had already passed (around 20 to 25 minutes) that a change of location wouldn't have been worth it. Wrong decision. We then ordered something else (Block Burger) and unfortunately had to wait another +45 minutes. Conclusion: A total of around 1 hour and 10 minutes passed between our entry and the start of the meal. For a lunch break the killer... This can happen, but the staff responded to our concerns and questions in a relatively unprofessional manner. As a customer who sits there for an hour, you don't want to hear in an annoyed tone: "You see what's going on here, we can't do any more." Yes!: At the beginning point out the waiting time, maybe apologize for the waiting time, put us off with a coffee or something on the house....

First of all, I always enjoyed staying at the Block House, whether in Berlin or in other cities and was a satisfied guest. Now I haven't been there for a long time, until today. I was completely disappointed today and won't be coming back. The price-performance ratio is simply not right. Prices have risen everywhere, we live with that. But the portion size is disappointing and outrageous. They offer “two tender turkey steaks” on the menu and there were two very small pieces of turkey on the plate, very dry at that. If you look at the cucumber slice next to the steak in the photo, you'll notice that the steak and cucumber are almost the same size. I got up from the table hungry. The potato was also small. I used to always get full from you and usually get full after one portion in restaurants. If only the service had been good. But our waitress didn't do the least good hospitality. Drinks were put down without a word, plates were taken away without asking, even though people were still eating. Plastic was found in a meal at our table. The plate was then cleared away without a word or apology. Also no question about whether it tastes good or anything like that. It felt like mass processing. No, just no. For me as a guest, nothing is right here anymore. I have fond memories of the BLOCK HOUSE, but I'm out of it forever. Edit after the owner's comment: the two turkey steaks were each about the size of half the palm of a normal female hand. I've never seen such a small portion. There are approximate guidelines for how many grams of meat and side dishes are served. Both the potato and the two mini steaks were away from these guidelines. Your silent waitress didn't mention that you could at least get a second piece of bread. But that is also irrelevant. I often eat out in restaurants and have never received such a small portion (which costs €16 and is NOT on the children's menu).

Encantador ambiente gran bullicio en la habitación y capaz de ver a los chefs en el trabajo. Una encantadora bienvenida en la puerta y por mi servidor. Nunca sentí que la comida apresurada era excelente sopa de cebolla para empezar y un increíble filete cocinado a la perfección servido con papas fritas. Excelente relación calidad-precio también.

Cenó aquí en diciembre de 2024 y tenía la sopa de cebolla para empezar con crutones de queso por encima. Estaba bastante bueno pero el filete que siguió estaba abrasado por fuera y rosado y jugoso en el medio servido sazonado con sal y pimienta y con un poco de ajo y mantequilla de hierbas sabe fantástico. Cada filete viene con papa al horno, ensalada y pan de ajo incluido en el precio a diferencia de en el Reino Unido, donde hay que pagar extra por ese tipo de cosas. El servicio fue eficiente y amable. La sopa solo era buena, pero el bistec y el postre de helado era excelente. Cinco estrellas

I haven't been to the Block aHouse for a long time and yet I immediately felt comfortable again. There's not much to say about the meat except that it was delicious as always. Good meat, unfortunately poorly prepared. The atmosphere is more comparable to a large canteen. Meat was almost raw. Steak knives were forgotten. The food is carelessly prepared on the plate. Normal beer is only available as a 0.33l version. We're not in Cologne😎

Outstanding for a chain. Good meat expertly prepared, very fresh salad, good sour cream, spritzer to mix yourself and great value for money. Only when it comes to ice cream with hot chocolate sauce should the latter be delivered separately, as the ice cream is always half melted. Not ideal.

Comimos allí el sábado pasado antes de volar a casa. Investigamos Restaurantes sobre TA y finalmente nos decidimos por este para comer antes de volar a casa, ya que tenía buenas críticas. ¡Gran error! ¡Qué desastre! Alimentos: Muy bien. Los filetes (2 X filetes y la costilla Master Cut - ojo) eran absolutamente deliciosos! Se sirven con una patata al horno cargada y pan rociado con mantequilla de ajo (¡Deliciosa! ) , pero preguntamos si podíamos sustituir la patata por patatas fritas y no nos dijeron ningún problema. Nos sirvieron una muy buena y abundante Ensalada como Entrada (¡Que fue una sorpresa realmente agradable! ) , con una selección de tres Aderezos. Todos fuimos con los franceses, que era delicioso. Nuestra más joven (¡eventualmente!) tomó la hamburguesa simple con papas fritas, que dijo que era muy buena. Esa era la comida, y ahora . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . El Servicio: ¡Qué desastre total! En primer lugar, intenté hacer la Reserva en línea, pero en ella se indicaba para el tiempo que requerimos ( 17h) , la reserva en línea no estaba disponible, pero para llamarlos. Esto lo hice y un buen caballero tomó mi reserva. Sin embargo, cuando llegamos a las 5 pm, nos dijeron que no había ninguna reserva en el lugar, pero verían si podían encajar en nosotros. Le enseñé al tipo, que nos dijo esto (que estaba trabajando detrás de la barra) , un registro en mi teléfono móvil de mí llamando al restaurante y él dijo que en su opinión que llamé y me dijeron que no había reserva posible, pero ahora estaba faroleando para conseguir una mesa! Mi primer error: Debería haber salido por la puerta y luego después de ese comentario. Finalmente nos sentamos en una mesa frente a la cocina. I had a wonderful dinner here. The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff, and the food was equally impressive—delicious and well-prepared. The restaurant’s location is another big plus, as it’s very close to the station, making it easy to access. If you’re looking for a great dining experience with excellent service and convenient access, Block House is a fantastic choice! Highly recommended for a satisfying and enjoyable meal.

Today the two of us had dinner at the Blockhouse on Friedrichstrasse around 2 p.m. As always, it was worth a visit. Today, in addition to the great food, there was also great service. From the very first moment, our waiter Michael lightened the mood with his unique manner, joked with us and served us in a very professional manner. This takes normal good food to a completely different level. The Blockhouse is worth a visit at any time and if you're lucky you'll experience such good food in a great atmosphere.

Arrived to hotel pretty hungry after a long train ride to Berlin. Luckily this place was right around the corner so I went in for a steak. Very happy with the decision. Steak was a perfect medium rare and tasted great. Dessert wasn’t bad either. Service was also very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Very friendly service and cozy atmosphere

After visiting the branch on Adenauer, this time we visited the restaurant on Friedrichstrasse. Let's summarize: the ambience is great inside, clean, cozy, invites you to linger. Service great, very friendly, attentive, top grade. To warm up there was bruschetta, well made, but to be honest it wasn't a highlight, so "only" four stars for the food. For the main course I had the pastured lamb, which was on point, with really delicious potato gratin, very tasty spinach, the fantastic Blockhouse bread and a piece of herb butter, which is of course also great! All around a culinary delight. I have to mention, however, that the portion could be a little larger, perhaps with a little more gratin and spinach, because the price is decent - but I think it's justifiable given the quality of the lamb. Oh yes, my child had the nuggets with fries and then a big scoop of vanilla ice cream - everything was also delicious, especially the ice cream made my child very happy! In any case, Blockhouse is very child-friendly, their concept has proven itself! I give a clear recommendation! Only: We had to wait a really, really long time for the food, the food at the next table came quicker even though we ordered earlier, and we only got our food when the next table had already eaten. That wasn't great, so there's a big deduction from the service rating.
