Block House in München

We had another delicious meal at BlockHouse, perhaps our new favorite chain in the area. Everything is fresh and well-prepared!

Reminds me of the awful restaurants in the US in the 1970s/1980s before they discovered good food, but at 5x the price. My university cafeteria has significantly better food. I have no idea how this place stays in business.

Very generous portions and worth the price. It's so popular that it's a victim of its own success; there are long lines at the entrance, but it's worth the wait. I recommend it.

We spent the weekend in Munich and ended up at this Block House restaurant. Our server, Aretha, was very friendly; from start to finish, the service was simply perfect! The portions could have been a bit bigger, but everything was delicious! Our steak arrived well-done, just as ordered, our gluten intolerance wasn't a problem, and the dessert was a chocolate dream. We'll definitely be back!

We went to Block House with the whole family and were rather disappointed overall. The burger was quite tasteless, the fries bland and not crispy. My mother ordered the fitness pan and wasn't impressed either. Another negative point was that tap water wasn't served despite repeated requests, even though the menu offers "Munich tap water with lemon" for €3. This seems presumptuous and gives the impression that they're more concerned with generating additional revenue than with customer service. The wait after ordering was also far too long, and parts of the order were initially forgotten. On the positive side, I'd like to highlight the coffee, which tasted good, as well as the pleasant size of the restaurant and the moderate noise level. Overall, however, the visit was disappointing for my family and will remain a rather negative memory.

Not comparable to Hamburg's Block Houses.

Generally it was a nice dinner. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the presentation of the food. The meat also had some weird fat on the side of it. Also the waitress came twice in the first few minutes and then made us wait 10 min. I just thought that was weird, but I do understand that she might have been busy. It was a solid 4 star dinner.

Konstantinos was a fantastic waiter – kind, friendly, attentive, and very helpful in advising me on the different steak cuts. I naturally opted for a ribeye because it's especially delicious and tender. They offer two cuts, and you can enjoy a very good steak for €40 per person. That's hard to find in Germany. So, well done, Blockhouse!

The service is always good, but I've never gotten my steak cooked to the desired doneness. Sometimes it's overcooked, sometimes undercooked. They either mix up the steaks or don't know how to grill them properly. Sometimes the meat is too tough and/or almost burnt on the outside, making it taste bitter. Despite this, we keep coming back because it's not as expensive as the good steakhouses (although it's not exactly cheap either). I think Block House used to be much better, but the quality has declined significantly. It's a real shame.

Unfortunately i had a bad experience I had to return the steak, twice! First time it was cooked from a side more than the other side Second time it was overcooked and ruined Third time they got me new steak and it came cooked as i asked but the taste wasn’t good and the meat wasn’t soft also it took a very long time Without any apology , the staff was looking at me as I’m eating for free ! And I can see the chef wasn’t happy!! Well , I paid for this and I’m expecting a good meal from a restaurant which claiming to be a steakhouse!!

This was the best restaurant we ate at in Munich; everything was delicious and filling. We especially enjoyed the Apfelstrudel dessert. We wholeheartedly recommend it. We thank Konstantinos for his service and attentiveness.

Price - performance steak house, if you are in the center, suggested!

Restaurant Review – Sunday, November 2nd (Party of 2) Manager - Stoyanka Waiter - Konstantines We arrived at the restaurant at 21:05 and were promptly shown to a window seat — a great start. Our order was taken quickly, and we both requested medium-well ribeye steaks. The drinks and starters arrived promptly, but that’s where the positive experience ended. Our starter plates were left uncleared for an unusually long time, while (since the kitchen is open) we observed our baked potatoes sitting on the pass cooling for at least 10 minutes before the steaks were plated. Then, before the starters were even cleared, a different waitress handed us our steak plates in mid-air over the cluttered table. It was careless and unprofessional. Our used cutlery was still on the starter plates. When my guest asked if we’d receive fresh cutlery, the waitress responded sarcastically, “Oh, I’ll get you some if you want,” clearly surprised by the question. We ended up awkwardly grabbing our used cutlery off the plates before she whisked them off. Meanwhile our drink glasses were empty and no one checked whether we wanted anything else. When I cut into my steak, I was stunned to see it still bleeding. I’ve ordered medium-well many times and never seen a steak this under-cooked. The centre was visibly red, and the juices pooled into the lukewarm baked potato. I did not attempt to eat it and flagged down the waiter. He offered no apology — only a suggestion to “put it back on the grill for 2 minutes.” I declined, as by then I had lost all appetite. The manager eventually came over. Instead of acknowledging the issues, she attempted to justify the bleeding by claiming the steak had been hung for 12 weeks — a claim we found completely outrageous and unsupported. We checked the company website of BLOCK HOUSE and did not find any published evidence or mission statement verifying a 12-week hang period. Their site does state: “Our BLOCK HOUSE College has been training all our employees for 25 years, and practical knowledge is shared every day in our various companies. We extend our grateful thanks to our many long‐standing employees.” There is no mention of 12-week ageing of steak. In fact standard steak-dry-ageing practices are approximately 14–28 days. My guest’s steak — also medium-well — was inconsistently cooked: one side closer to medium-rare, the other more well done. We were both extremely shocked by the manager’s claim. In the end we paid for the one partially eaten steak, with no apology, no gesture of goodwill, and no empathy from the staff. The restaurant was practically empty, yet the service was terrible, the food poorly executed, and the staff dismissive. Overall, a deeply disappointing experience: unprofessional service, mis-cooked food, and a complete lack of accountability. I will not be returning.

The staff were very nice. But the food has declined in quality.

This was our first time here at the Block House and we were thrilled with the rump steak with a baked potato with sour cream, as well as the barbecue steak plate. Simply perfectly prepared. Our waitress, Ms. Coacci, completely impressed us with her service. She is very friendly, attentive, and always concerned about the well-being of her guests. Thank you for the excellent service, and a big compliment to the kitchen. We will definitely be back.

T-bone was cooked wonderfully,I was very satisfied.

Upon arrival, it wasn't too crowded. We ordered food but they apparently forgot to order it. All the surrounding tables had already received their food. The conversation with the restaurant manager was quite unpleasant, instead of apologizing for such a long wait, she rather rudely asked if we wanted to eat any more. After a total wait of more than 1 hour, the ordered food finally arrived. Unfortunately, the food wasn't what it used to be. DISASTER Salad topped with a dressing we hadn't learned

First of all, the service was excellent. Only the food: the sirloin steak was ridiculous... 1 cm thick. The fries were subpar. And the tablespoon of coleslaw was ridiculous. I was a guest at Maredo for 35 years, a sad successor. Once and never again.

They do hav me the best T-bone steaks and their onion soup is delicious. Nice family restaurant.

I visited Block House Restaurant today and absolutely loved it! The steak was perfectly cooked and incredibly delicious. The service was fast, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable — I’ll definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

I'm a frequent guest at various Block restaurants in Germany, and this was the first time I've tried the burger. I have to say, you want to differentiate yourself from others, which isn't wrong, but not like this. No sauce, just plain on half of a 1/4 baguette, sorry, as you call it: our bread. Also, I can't serve fries like in those burger chain restaurants, you know. In my opinion, they deserve better quality on their plates. The beef broth wasn't great either. At this price, I'll just say it's too expensive!

Food OK is a steak fast food restaurant that's what you know but that there Ballermann music is played extremely loudly is not acceptable

We had a pretty decent meal. The service was good, but the music in this restaurant—the volume, the songs—was nothing like Ballermann. Far too loud. A shame.

During our visit to Block House in Munich, we had a really enjoyable experience. The highlight of the evening was without a doubt our waitress—she was absolutely awesome. Friendly, attentive, and quick to make sure we had everything we needed, she made the whole experience much more enjoyable. I ordered the filet mignon, and it was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and served exactly as requested. It’s clear that the kitchen takes pride in preparing high-quality steaks, and it showed in every bite. On the downside, I found the French fries disappointing. They tasted cheap and didn’t match the quality of the rest of the meal, which was a bit surprising given how excellent the steak was. That said, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, combined with the great service and delicious filet, makes Block House a place I would definitely recommend when in Munich.

Looking for an inexpensive lunch, we ended up at Blockhaus. I found the other restaurants downtown quite expensive! The food was good and reasonably priced. -It didn't look like much at first, but it was enough- The service was very friendly and quick! Lunch included salad! With a drink, about €20...

Anyone who loves steak should visit this restaurant. Please note that reservations are not available on Fridays and Saturdays. The staff and service are very good.

Worst service we've ever had! I just wanted to order a burger and was told in a disgusted tone that if I wanted a "burger," I should go to McDonald's. I ended up having a salad instead, which really wasn't that special. I remembered this restaurant as being better.

We were there in the afternoon, and it really wasn't busy. Nevertheless, we had to wait a long time for our food. There were three of us, and we ordered three medium-rare steaks, and all were more well-done than medium. We were offered the option of exchanging the steaks, but that would require a considerable wait. We declined due to time constraints, but at a steakhouse, you expect the steaks to be cooked to a higher standard.

The service was nice, but not particularly attentive – there were often full and empty glasses on the table at the same time, even though the staff came by several times. The salad to start with was tasty. The steak was well-seasoned and quite tasty, but despite ordering medium, it was almost completely cooked. For a steakhouse, the cooking level should be better.

Typical block house, with great gluten-free options. Unfortunately, the allergen list hasn't been updated, but the menu has. And the portions are getting smaller and smaller...

The waitresses were very friendly, and the atmosphere was really great. I had the American tenderloin with fries, the fresh salad as a starter, and the apple strudel for dessert. The quality of the food was fantastic.

When you want to eat steak in Germany, go to Blockhaus!

I can speak German, but sometimes people I travel with cannot. This restaurant, along with all the other BLOCK HOUSE locations, is very good at catering to folks who can't speak German. The atmosphere is always quite nice as well. The food is incredibly good - nothing very complex, but just good, simple, food. Everything is quite yummy, but I would highly recommend the baked potato if you do end up coming here.

As former Munich residents, we've been back in the city for a long time and have been to the former Maredo...now for some time now, the Block House, and it's been a winner in every way! A very pleasant and cozy atmosphere, very attentive and courteous staff...and the quality of the food—very fair prices despite being in the center of Munich—simply top-notch. We had the lamb rump and sirloin steak, which were divine; nothing to be desired—we'll definitely be back when we're in town again!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this steakhouse. I arrived as a single guest without a reservation and felt warmly welcomed and was even allowed to choose my own seat. Very attentive and friendly service, the steak was excellent, cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. I wondered why the decor was so dark. But that's a matter of taste and shouldn't influence my review. I'm delighted to have found a new favorite restaurant in Munich and would love to come back next time I'm in Munich.

It's a great restaurant. The staff is very friendly. The meat is very good. The hamburgers are legendary. The prices are quite reasonable.

It used to be an absolute insider tip, ten out of ten. The price/performance ratio was absolutely top-notch, but today it's not good at all. The service has deteriorated significantly. The service needs to be changed. The food was okay, but it used to be much better. I hope the boss reads this message, takes the staff to task, and changes things. Then we'll be happy to come back.

Nice steak restaurant. The meat could have been cooked 10 seconds longer on each side, but otherwise it was quite good. The salad had too much dressing; it could have been used for two salads. There was nothing wrong with the carpacio per se, but I expected a bit more. Since I order it at many other restaurants, I can say I was a bit disappointed here. The service was friendly and very quick, nothing to complain about.

It was ok. Took a rare rib eye 230g. It was ok but not a high quality tender steak I have in Canada. They are generous on wine serving but not on draft beer. Not actively taking care of you during the meal but borderline sufficiently. No tap water available when asked at the end of the meal.

The food was unfortunately very bad. Our steaks arrived completely cooked, which wasn't a problem, as the staff was immediately super friendly and brought new steaks. Unfortunately, the meat had a very strange taste. We didn't have to pay anything after complaining about the meat, but unfortunately, our hunger had passed. Please work on the quality of your meat, because the excuse that the animal was stressed unfortunately has nothing to do with this pungent taste. Thanks anyway for the very patient service! I don't accept the excuse about the stressed animal. The effects the next day unfortunately confirmed it…and not just on one person! I won't be going back to that place.

The food was very tasty, and it was nice that the waiters brought sour cream on their own. The waiters were friendly, and the food arrived promptly.

We had tried it with my family in Dusseldorf before and we liked it very much. The service, food and atmosphere are of the same quality and I recommend it.

The steak was average, and the price was reasonable. The service was good, and the atmosphere was nice. However, the steak on the special menu was a little small that day.

My favorite steakhouse so far...very friendly service, but unfortunately the quality has been declining lately, especially with the Wednesday steak special. Sadly disappointing. Please improve so I can give it five stars again soon :-)

Excellent restaurant. They have very good meat. The design of the place is very nice. The waiters are friendly. The only problem is that it is a bit expensive. But there are normal prices for a meat restaurant.

We waited over an hour for our food. When it finally arrived, half of our orders were missing and the food was a disappointment.

I was here with my wife and was already familiar with the Block House. I have eaten there in Stuttgart and Hamburg. We both ordered a Mr. Rumpsteak with a baked potato and salad, my wife's steak medium/done and mine medium-rare. My wife's steak came back even redder than mine, so I told the waitress that it wasn't what we had ordered. The plate went back to the kitchen in the meantime. In the meantime, I had to wait until my wife's plate came back a while later. The waitress said I would come back in a moment to ask if it was okay, but the steak was still too red. This annoyed me, and I told the waitress, who of course couldn't do anything about it, that I didn't like it. The waitress then said we would repeat the order because you can't cook the meat three times and my food had gone cold in the meantime. As I said, after a while, both orders were served again, and although my wife's steak was still not medium-done, the blood wasn't as prominent as before. Overall, I didn't think Block House's performance was good...

Nice ambience, delicious steaks and the waiter Vy was really sweet, we really liked him.

The food was, as expected from Block House, very good. The service was particularly good. Our server was Vy. He was still in training and did an excellent job. 👍 He was friendly and accommodating, and he contributed to a wonderful evening for us.

A nice steak with a great crust and a juicy center. I like the ribeye steak best. It's served with a nice Pilsner. For dessert, a warm chocolate cake with chocolate sauce and strawberries.

The food was very tasty but the hall was very noisy due to the many guests

The rib-eye steak was incredibly tough, the bread was soft, and the sour cream contained dried parsley instead of fresh. It really wasn't good. I left almost all of the meat uneaten and reported it as tough, but no one cared. It's a shame, we won't be going there anymore.

People have different tastes, but the food is inedible and tasteless. However, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is nice. I hope they improve the quality of the food.

This restaurant had the taste and feel of a good American Steak House. If are from the USA and you need a "Taste" from home this is the place. We all had steak and wine. Oh, and a great salad.

Do you like steaks! You have to visit this restaurant close to Mariannsplatz. Delicious steaks with baked potato and grilled baguette. As the starter fresh salat! Visit and try!

Rarely have I eaten such a poorly prepared piece of meat. Steak was more like the sole of a shoe than a delicious dish. The service is not willing to show any goodwill, instead they refer to “internal regulations”. Once and never again!
