Block House in München

Unfortunately I've already fallen for it twice with Hereford ribeye steak, totally stringy. The baked potato was also very watery and tasteless. Everything was better a year ago. There seems to be a compromise on quality here. However, the staff was great and offered alternatives and brought new steak (Mrs. rump steak, was okay) and new potatoes, which weren't any better.

Service was friendly and tried hard, unfortunately the fries arrived at the table cold but were then quickly replaced with hot ones. New York Cheeseburger was OK, nothing special

Food was fantastic! The steaks are butter hard and cooked to perfection. Our waiter was extremely attentive, polite and accommodating. The price is of course a little higher, but you know that when you eat steak. Were with our seven year old daughter; She also really enjoyed it. Was given art supplies while waiting and balloons and a scarf when saying goodbye. Thumbs all the way up! The ambience is not 5* standard, but you are aware of that when you stop at a chain. All in all worth a visit!

This was so disappointing. I ordered my steak medium rare. It came out 5 minutes later still cold it was so rare. So I asked for it to be brought up to temp. 3 minutes later they sent it back out still rare as rare can be. It was gross and bleeding all over my plate but I was hungry and over it so I ate my garlic bread and cold potato gratin and left. Worst meal I had Munich.

Steaks are recommended. So the restaurant was founded in 1969 and to this day the quality of the food is consistent with the brand. Nevertheless, I deducted points because of the operation (it should be improved, I think)

This was my second time in this restaurant and it was excellent again. The service was attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was very pleasant and the food was simply fantastic! Every dish was perfectly prepared and the quality of the ingredients was impressive.

Steak was not bad. But the waitress took my change as a tip. I paid 100euro for my 80euro meal. She didn't give any change. That made my Day unpleasant. I won't visit again and i hope this will not happen again.

I had the Fitness Plate(?), which is a favorite. Steak strips with peppers, onions, mushrooms and a creamy pepper sauce. Served with their garlic bread but I always ask for a baked potato. I bring the garlic bread home for a snack the next day.

The best part about this place was leaving. If you're looking for a quality steak or burger, this isn't the spot. The steak was watery, undercooked, and lacked seasoning, while the New York cheeseburger was far from what you'd expect—both in taste and appearance, with the beef seeming off. Though one of the waiters was friendly, another interrupted our simple question and raised his voice at us, which was unnecessary and unpleasant. We were hoping for at least a decent lunch but left feeling unwell and very disappointed. On the bright side, if you turn left when you leave, you’ll find Ruff’s Burger, which I ended up going to after. Overall, Block House isn't worth the price—you're better off choosing somewhere else.

I will never go again. I waited about 15 minutes and I didn't get a menu. I understand there are only 2 waiters, and 1 bar and a big group just came in. But what does the guy with the gray suit stand for the whole time at the bar, but I assume he is a manager. If you just bring me the menu while the waiters are looking up with the big group, that will be much better than just standing still and don't do shit. And make me walk away.

Rib eye steak is a must. Burgers were ok. Salads were good too.

This is an American beefsteak chain restaurant located in Germany. The German founder is developing this restaurant with the desire to provide American beefsteak at a low price. So affordable and delicious! Although it's near Marienplatz, it's off the main street and has plenty of seats, so it's relatively empty. Recommended if you want to eat steak!

Unfortunately the burgers aren't real. Just a meatball with garlic bread underneath. For 18 euros it's more bad than good.

So the atmosphere is really nice, it's clean and nicely decorated. You can't complain about the service either. The food was very good and didn't cost that much. However, I didn't eat steak but rather their citizen, which I personally liked very much. The meat and sauce were excellent. However, I was a little surprised that my citizen didn't have a bun as a lid on top🙃 I wouldn't call that a disadvantage because it was very tasty, but I was still surprised.

Very good food, the steak was fantastic, I wanted it medium rare and it was perfect.

We ordered beef steak with mushroom and regular steak. Yes, they have a roasted potato and a salad for free. Everything was sweet and delicious. The employee, Gabriel, is cheerful and speaks English. The bill came out with 57.60 euros, which is equivalent to 237 dirhams.

We waited 15min and nothing happened...the other people can order we couldn't, and the waiters has no respect.

There's a big difference how quick they serve men and women: unfortunately the waiters are more friendly and faster with men clients.

Some of the worst service you will find anywhere. Had to wait super long for a table and after being seated, we were not served for almost 40 minutes. They did not even offer any water at the very least. Waiters walking around ignoring half the customers and not taking their orders for a long time. And then they got the order wrong. At the very least the food itself was good. In short, we basically wasted close to 2 hours of our day waiting.

Not ideal for lactose and celiac disease sufferers. Despite ordering, there was no bread or herb butter on the plate

Had the New York cheese burger. If they call it a burger then I expect a burger but it wasn't a burger. The patty was placed on half a hard baguette (loveless). I waited for a bun but none came? This is not a burger and for the hefty price of €18, the price-benefit expectation must at least be approximately achieved. We were scammed. The fries were also frozen fries, the food would have been okay for €8 in an outdoor swimming pool, but in a restaurant some attention should be paid to quality. A pity

Even in the Block House, the quality of the food is no longer at the same level as in previous years. But the prices are very current.

The big negative for me is that the waiter gave me the recepiet and said: It is 35 without tips!! It felt that it was a direct way to tip. When I paid 35 he was disappointed. I left so 2 Euros, but I did not want to pay a tip. 2 euros which others might think it is low, because there is a written rule from movies it has to be 5-10%. But, honestly, I live currently in Denmark for nearly a decade, previously the UK and Turkey, I never tip, nor was it part of the culture. What I know about Germany is that they do not have a tipping culture, but I guess when you speak English, they think that you are American, and maybe ask for a tip. Still, it is no justification. A waiter is hired to take your order, serve food and make sure that the experience is positive. We do not tip the doctor, nurse, policeman, etc for doing their job. I ate their steak with a baked potatoe. I ordered nothing to drink, not even water. The food was okay, and expensive.

Ok value for money when it comes to food. But that's the only positive thing about the restaurant. Food is carelessly slapped onto the plate, portions are rather small, service only becomes friendly towards the end (when it comes to tipping). For me, rather no.

Stopped for a quick beer. Can’t say much about food as such (I didn’t eat much here) but the service was excellent. The waiters were attentive and friendly. Things came quickly despite a busy evening. The ambience is very nice. Outside seating overlooks a nice monument.

After a rather unpleasant visit to the Block House at the train station, we drove to the Block House at Rindermarkt. Incredible service. It was absolutely awesome! All the waiters were nice, the food was great and you felt incredibly welcome! Gladly again!

Out favourite steakhouse chain. Excellent service, great menu and tasty food at reasonable prices. If there is any issue they do everything to set things right.

Unfortunately not the usual Block House quality. The tablecloth was stained, the food was lukewarm and the portions were rather small for the price. I recommend the Blockhouse near the Giselastrasse subway. The food and service are worlds better. I will avoid Rindermarkt and Elisenhof in the future

My family and I wanted to eat something in the restaurant which has a high enough rating on google maps. In result. Prawns ordered were nearly raw with the addition of the redish with the vinegar. The second dish (Fitness Pfanne) was nearly raw. Vegetables were raw and cold inside like after the freezer. The big violet onion was nearly raw and only sliced on four parts. Mushrooms were raw and cold inside too. In 20 minutes after such a meal my wife and son felt nausea and stomach pain. The whole next day my wife could not eat normally. I also ordered Carpaccio (there were nearly 10-12 slices of meat), but decided to take it with me home. We asked to pack this meal and take it home. We didn't check it after the pack, but at home there were only four slices. We did not expect such mediocre quality of food for such a high price. At the same time, the service was good, the waitress was very polite and pleasant, and the presentation of the dishes was good too.

Staff was great and fluent in speaking English making our choices of food easy.

Excellent - far above average. At first we had reservations about the beef medallion. Is often too hard to bite. The meat was sensational and the gratin with vegetables was on the same level!

We were in the Blockhouse outdoor area in the evening because we have already had good experiences in various Blockhouse restaurants and eaten delicious steaks. The steak I ordered that evening was the worst I have ever been served in a steakhouse, and the steak my companion also left something to be desired. The steak was tough, stringy and crunchy. In my opinion, absolutely not recommended. There was no waitress to complain about anywhere. Only during the payment process was there an opportunity to make a complaint. The comment: You should have complained about that straight away! We are practical, speaks for itself!

We recently went to Block Haus am Rindermarkt and spent €100 there. Unfortunately our visit was extremely disappointing. Even though our drinks were still completely full, the waiter asked us to leave because they were closing. There was neither a “thank you” nor a “bye”. The staff was very rude and seemed listless. What was particularly disappointing was that only we who spoke German were asked to leave. Another table where English was spoken was not spoken to and was allowed to stay. We definitely won't come here again. Very disappointing!

The place is advertised to be open till 22h, and we were there at 21:20, the waitress sent us away and not politely and the reason was that kitchen was closed.

We were served quickly, friendly and nice. Although there was a European Championship game in Munich the day before, the Blockhouse was not heavily frequented. Clear recommendation 👍

Can't eat here, I've been feeling sick for days because of the food

The meat was very delicious. We went on recommendation and were very pleased. They gave very sweet gifts to my little daughter and she was very happy.

How happy I was when they reopened this steakhouse, but people seriously a "Classic Burger", consisting of a naked patti WITHOUT bread, salad and sauce with just a piece of garlic baguette, for 16€ and that as a "burger" for sale, really... At least make it LOOK like a burger.

Visited this place today evening and was delighted by the hospitality. The food was par excellence and so was the service. We celebrated my sister's birthday and the staff went out of their way to make it incredibly special especially Duc and Maher ! Highly recommend this place for a beyond wonderful experience

On Monday, May 27th, 2024, we visited the Block House at Rindermarkt in Munich and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience, especially due to the behavior of the management. There were three of us, including my grandchild. The manager was extremely unfriendly and unaccommodating towards our grandchild. We had to decide whether to take a high chair or the stroller instead of being offered both options. There were also problems when ordering: the salad that I ordered without tomatoes came with tomatoes. The steaks we ordered, which were supposed to be medium well, were served rare. What was particularly annoying was that one person was not served at all and therefore received no food at all. As long-time regular guests of the Block House on Giselastraße, where we were always very satisfied, we were particularly disappointed by the unfriendly and less customer-oriented manner of the manager at Rindermarkt. Due to these negative experiences, we will no longer visit this restaurant and cannot recommend it.

For the first time in Munich and I was awakened in this fabulous place... dishes with excellent quality of beef and a very very welcoming atmosphere, especially the waitress Bongie Atalan, very nice, witty and helpful.

Everything was great, gladly again. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly service and a perfectly cooked medium-rare steak. Accompanied by a fresh, appetizing salad with a very good dressing and excellent garlic bread. Everything was fine, but I would have automatically wished for a herb butter with it.

Yesterday we were at the blockhouse with a small child around 3 p.m. The food was good. Nice atmosphere and not too crowded.

My order consisted of a ribeye steak and a burger. The meat was delivered rair - not the medium rair as ordered. The menu took 15 minutes to arrive. The waitress was arrogant and rude. There is no reason to tip at all. Nevertheless, I tore off 10%. The verdict is the same crap as other restaurants in the center. A scam for tourists. Will I go again - no.

In my opinion, not the usual Blockhouse quality. Today I spontaneously chose the Blockhouse again and found that the prices had been increased significantly. Unfortunately, the baked potato on my plate was much smaller than before, and the bread (also much smaller) was lying in the pool of blood. My request for more sour cream and steak sauce had to be repeated twice. The question as to whether everything was ok was only asked when clearing away, by which time it was really too late. I didn't find the meat quality that good either, not really tasty. Conclusion: I won't come back anytime soon, the price/performance is no longer right for me.

We walked past this place and after looking it up and seeing a good rating decided to try it out. Service was ok initially, but got worse across the evening. I asked for no onions, and was told no problem but still the salad came with onions. Salad was OK but glad it was free, wouldn't have paid for it. Ordered a side dish of seasonal veg, which seemed to be frozen vegetables that were extremely overcooked and tastes like nothing except onion, very unpleasant! The actual steaks were cooked nicely (we had the ribeye mastercut) but they had too much pepper on and no garlic butter or anything unless you specifically order it. I also ordered a steak sauce which I had to ask for 3 times, by the time it came out my steak was basically cold. The jacket potato was nice, although they were trying to upsell everyone to have fries too, which was unnecessary! All in all, it was ok but for the price, extremely lacking and I wouldn't recommend it.

Good steakhouse in the medium, slightly higher price range, at least if you eat steak, very centrally located, just five minutes from Marienplatz and eight minutes from Sendlinger Tor Platz. Nice and big and spacious, nice team and pleasant customers; you can also go there individually and eat there. Burgers are also on offer, which are cheaper than the steak dishes. The restaurant is still medium-sized and owner-managed, the other branch is on Leopoldstrasse. During the week maybe a lunch menu card, then it's a tip. The portions could be a bit more generous. - Good steakhouse in the middle of Munich, slightly higher price range, at least if you eat steak, very centrally located, just five minutes from Marienplatz and eight minutes from Sendlinger Tor Platz. Nice and big and spacious, they have a team and there are also pleasant customers; you can go there individually and eat there as well. The steak had a slight burnt taste but was cooked to order. I've eaten better, but it was ok. The young waitress was very interested in flirting at the next table, so we always had to wait. Knives were only available upon request. I stepped in a bowl of dog food under the table. All in all, not a particularly great visit.

The restaurant is very nice and has a nice atmosphere. The service was also very friendly and helpful. The food was good, although the meat didn't blow me away for the price.

It's gotten quite expensive and much smaller portions for more money, (less salad than before) and smaller garlic bread, I haven't been for a while, was really disappointed...

The lunch menu is good and the price is fair

The lunch menu is always great, unfortunately the last one wasn't that good and was described differently on the menu. When I asked if everything was OK, it was noticed and then the restaurant manager just commented in a mushy way: “Oh yes, there “But the plate looks different.” If you don't want honest feedback, you shouldn't ask for it!

It is truly truly truly fabulous. Unfortunately there is no rating above 5 otherwise I would have given it. Truly extraordinary entertainment and great creativity, not to mention the food which has exceeded the limit and is of perfect quality. While you wait for the food they are brought to you crayons and a card relating to the mascot of the place. Splendid and hyper kind service. Different choice of foods and a splendid environment. Truly truly fabulous

We have already eaten at several of the chain's restaurants. This one is left in the past. The food was not as usual. Ordered medium and received shoe sole.

Very good food although a bit expensive. The ambience in the restaurant is good but could be improved with room dividers. The service is sometimes very good but some of the waiters are listless and rude.

It was good as always, but the prices are no longer celebratory. Unfortunately, the Tbone steak I ordered wasn't 500 grams either... and then the price... doesn't match. Gladly again but not every week anymore...to compensate for the price.....!

Three of us were there yesterday and were warmly welcomed and served. The steaks were all perfectly cooked to order. Unfortunately my Schloss Vollrads Riesling wasn't really cold, but the very friendly waiter immediately brought me ice cubes (at my request). Unfortunately, all 3 plates from the main course were almost cold. That could be done better. I told the waiter that too and he replied that next time I should say that I want a hot plate... but I think it should be standard that the plates are at least warm. Otherwise everything was great!!!

The phrase “all fur coat and no knickers “ describes this place best. The restaurant looks lovely inside, warm and atmospheric. Sadly the food was average at best. The menu is pretentious. You read it and the description makes your mouth water. Then it arrives.. a grilled lump of burger, a minuscule dollop of anemic coleslaw and dry baked potato. Pitiful. No condiments were offered at time of ordering at all. It certainly wasn’t value for money. My companion left a tip, I wouldn’t have. I got the impression the waiter was Spanish, he had a slight Spanish lilt and his attitude was typical of all Spanish waiters I’ve ever encountered. Surly.

The day before yesterday we were at the Block House at Rindermarkt. The beef fillet was tender and good in taste and, as requested, grilled medium. The baked potato was also delicious as always and the salad with French dressing was good and generous in size. Overall everything was very good, and, positive surprise: finally the excellent Erdinger beer in the Block House. We'll be back.

By far the best system catering. There are only a few points of criticism: Bull Soup has become thinner over the years and the cup has become smaller. A pity. The delicious Pils in Hamburg has unfortunately given way to a bland Paulaner Pils in Munich. Otherwise: perfect. Eat. Service and ambience.

Very nice service but that was it. Fries mediocre and the ribs are a joke. 2 small mini parts. After the €25 bill I had to get a kebab around the corner. This was my last visit.
