A true insider tip for connoisseurs and those on a budget. The hotel impresses with its excellent location, ideal for exploring the surrounding area as well as for relaxing stays. While the facilities aren't state-of-the-art, the hotel scores highly for its cleanliness and lovingly maintained rooms, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The excellent local cuisine is particularly good: authentic, fresh, and prepared with love. The service is very friendly and attentive – you feel welcome from the very first moment. Combined with the reasonable prices, this makes for an unbeatable overall package, perfect for both short breaks and longer stays. We're happy to come back every time!

We ate here yesterday with our family (four children), and unfortunately, the visit was very disappointing. When we asked on the phone, we were told that there were no high chairs available – we'd have to bring our own if necessary. That was the answer. Even then, you could have guessed that this wasn't a family- or child-friendly restaurant. We went anyway. Things got a bit more complicated when it came to ordering: For the children's schnitzel, we wanted pasta instead of fries, and for the bratwurst dish, we wanted the cabbage extra. The waitress, however, said the kitchen was very tired and stressed and couldn't promise anything. She wanted to check, but didn't come back to let us know. Only when the food was served did we find out that it had actually worked – that gave us a very bad feeling. Even though we were, of course, happy that it had worked. Mind you, this was children's food, and anyone who has children knows that little extra requests often arise. Additionally, there was a significant discrepancy: We had ordered wild salmon twice, but the waitress insisted we hadn't—even though we all agreed. Disputing a guest's order and saying no, they didn't order that... that's also a rather questionable method, and one could have handled it differently if they were pointing it out. But OK. Overall, she seemed very stressed, especially when the children shouted at each other. This created an unpleasant atmosphere for us, in which we felt unwelcome. Things can unfortunately get a bit loud around children. Particularly noticeable: Not once during our meal was we asked if everything was okay—for us, actually a minimum standard in the restaurant industry. The waitress did ask at other tables, which made the difference even more noticeable. We also noticed that employees, whether from the kitchen or the waiting staff, repeatedly went outside to smoke. For a beer garden where guests sit outside and experience this directly, this doesn't make a good impression. The next issue came up when paying: We had two children's schnitzels without fries, but with pasta instead. However, we were charged extra for the side dishes – however, the two dishes (i.e., children's schnitzels) were priced differently, so we ordered the same thing twice but had to pay two different prices. We didn't think that was right either. When we asked, all we got was "Oh, yes, that should have been €13.90." The food itself was very tasty (although the tagliatelle was a bit cold), and the location is also really great. Unfortunately, the service spoiled the whole thing so much that we decided not to come back.

A very friendly landlady, excellent food. The apple fritters are a must every time; they're so delicious. The rooms are tidy and clean. The entire guesthouse and the dining room are very rustic and cozy. It's in an idyllic hillside location with a fantastic view of the valley. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. For years, we've been staying with the Brandl family on every trip to Franconian Switzerland. And if, for example, we were at a concert at the Sophienhöhle and didn't want to drive home at night, we'd add a short break and stay at the Brandl guesthouse. All in all, highly recommended.
