Used to be our favorite restaurant. Unfortunately, over the years the quality and portion size have continued to decline - while the prices have continued to rise. If you ask for another slice of toast, each slice will be charged individually. We had to wait a very long time for our food. While we were still eating we were asked to leave because we had eaten too slowly for the restaurant and they had now promised the table to someone else. Our food was then packed for us. A croissant to take away costs around 2 euros - which is OK. If you eat 2 croissants on site and smear yourself jam from the store, it costs 20 euros. I find that far too expensive.

Wir hatten wegen eines Geburtstags für die ganze Familie einen Tisch zum Brunch für 7 Personen reserviert. Das funktionierte immerhin - bei den meisten anderen Cafés ist eine Reservierung leider nicht möglich. Der Tisch, den wir bekamen, war zwar etwas klein, aber okay. Im Café sitzt man etwas gedrängt, der Lautstärkepegel ist etwas hoch, aber ob einem das gefällt oder nicht, ist Geschmackssache. Die Bedienung machte dann aber nicht mal den Versuch, uns auf Deutsch anzusprechen, sondern sprach ausschließlich Englisch und reichte uns auch Karten auf Englisch. Na ja, ist zwar doof, aber das ist man in Berlin ja schon fast gewohnt. Doch die rein englischsprachige Bedienung mit ihrer eingeübten mechanischen Höflichkeit ("May I help you, Sir?") wirkte auf uns anonym und unpersönlich. Ich bestellte zum Frühstück einen "Heatlthy Start with scrambled eggs" (oder so ähnlich) für € 15. Die Beschreibung auf der Karte las sich gut, das erwies sich aber als nur eine schnöde getoastete Scheibe Weißbrot mit 2 Klecksen Avocadomuß und Frischkäse + etwas Rührei, daneben ein paar Salatblätter. Sah mittelmäßig schick aus, war aber für den Preis eine viel zu kleine Portion und schmeckte reizlos. Der Cappuccino schwappte beim Servieren über, was die Bedienung aber nicht zu stören schien. Zwei meiner Neffen wurden von ihrem Frühstück nicht mal satt – dabei hatten sie schon je 2 Portionen bestellt! Wir haben gezahlt, haben das Café verlassen und sind zu einem Bäcker in der Nähe weiter gezogen, die beiden Jungs kriegten da noch was zum satt werden und wir gönnten uns einen frisch gepressten O-Saft. Ein Frühstückscafé, was rein äußerlich auf hochwertig und gemütlich macht, aber diesen Anspruch weder was das Angebot noch was den Service betrifft erfüllt. Soll wohl irgendwie „fancy“ sein und ist bestimmt sehr „instagrammable“. Aber ein wirklich gutes Frühstück in angenehmer Atmosphäre kriegt man da nicht.

After a long time I wanted to have breakfast here again. I ordered Eggs Benedict. It came in a very manageable portion. Sauce cold. Egg cold. Everything cold. I told the waiter, who immediately brushed off the drama, but started a discussion with the kitchen. Then - surprisingly quickly, impossibly quickly - the replacement arrived. Sauce cold, egg cold, but the bacon was hot, but unfortunately black, totally burnt. The bacon is charged at €4. An absolute disgrace. You don't have to go there anymore.

Unfortunately there is no comparison to before. Although the old map is still listed online, there is only a slimmed down one. Super small portions, some not hot anymore. We are very disappointed and won't be coming back.

The food was tasty but at just under €30 per person for breakfast it was unfortunately too expensive for what you got. In addition, the map on the website appears to be outdated and therefore does not show the current (increased) prices. Unfortunately, our dishes were cold when they came to the table. In addition, the 60 cent surcharge for oat milk is really a disgrace 😬

The ownership has changed! The quality has declined remarkably. The coffee was too acidic and the eggs Benedict were cold. When I told the waiter that the food had been cold, he said it was their thing: we don’t serve the dishes super warm. Like what? Cold sauce hollandaise? Since when is that a thing? I think it would be fair if they changed the name so that loyal customers won’t be disappointed.

We used to love going to Betty'n Caty, but unfortunately we were disappointed this time. The menu has changed and the taste and appearance of the food are no longer at the same level as before. It seemed very slimmed down for the same price, which then no longer felt justified. The new crockery has also lost a bit of the charm that we associated with the café.

Nice breakfast café, but unfortunately the price and quality diverge in the wrong direction. In PBerg you get portions that are twice as big for 2/3 of the price. In addition, the food is presented rather blandly than beautifully. It's actually a shame, because the waitresses are very friendly, competent and helpful!

Great food and drinks, nice atmosphere overlooking Wasserturm!

The environment is very atmospheric. The view from the window is beautiful. But the service was average and made you feel unwelcome. A recup was used for the takeaway coffee, but customers weren't asked in advance and I don't particularly like recups. The coffee tasted very bad and clumsy. I wouldn't recommend.

We are a big fan of Betty'n Caty in Berlin, but unfortunately the food is now not good and very expensive. This is the fourth time we have been here in the last few years and the prices are now very high. You pay at least 12 euros for a brunch dish (more like 15-18 euros) and we had various egg dishes, which were unfortunately cold and hard. We informed the waitress, but she just shrugged her shoulder and still charged us 18 euros each for cold, hard egg dishes. The halloumni, the delicious coffee and the card payment were positive. Unfortunately, I can't recommend eating here at the moment. Maybe enjoy coffee and cake here.

Nice location. Unfortunately, the assigned chair and table were extremely narrow and wobbly, which wasn't good for brunch. The feet of the chair kept digging into the spaces between the pavement. Very annoying... Food ok, but price/performance not necessarily justified. Unfortunately, at least during our visit, service was a bit stressed or in a bad mood.

We had the mashed avocado with poached egg. But the flavours did not compliment eachother. The cottage cheese was too sour and personally I don't like sweat bread with non sweet topping. And was very expensive (62,- for 3 bread and 3 tea). Nice place for a tea (very nice) but skip the food :-)

Was a little crowded on Sunday lunch time. Nice interior. An absolutely great service—I was surprised how friendly our waitress was. She brought water for the dog and was super kind. Their brownie was really good. 5 stars for the service!

A nice place with a view of the water tower and also a nice seating area inside. The breakfast menu is a) completely(!) different than what is stated on the website and b) it is also hard to sell a croissant with cheese and egg for €16, despite all the love for beautifully presented. The fact that we were really ignored for fifteen minutes (we weren't the only ones trying to draw attention to ourselves) was weird, no one was unfriendly, but not friendly either. The food was delicious - and there are some better shops in the area in terms of service, price, performance, but a nice place for a coffee with a lot of time in the sun.

We ordered eggs Benedict. Food portion on a lesser scale. Tasty. However if you come on Saturday it might have waited a bit too long. Avocado in the benedict tastes a bit like just taken out from freezer and could have better controlled the over food temperature.

Nice cafe place on a beautiful plaza in Berlin prenzlauer berg. The service was slow, even at 10 in the morning, but the coffee was nice.

A nice café in itself, but we ordered two porridges and paid €11.50 per person for a small, handful portion. Generally completely exorbitant prices for what you get. This wasn't the case in this café before. So not recommended if you want to have a good breakfast. There are much better ones in the area.

We went for breakfast on Sunday. The service staff was completely overwhelmed, the espresso cups were chipped, no small spoons or napkins on the table. The big breakfast didn't correspond to the price, the boiled egg was almost raw. We are disappointed and would not have breakfast there again.

The atmosphere is nice and I always enjoyed being here. The prices have always been higher compared to other cafes but now it's just disproportionate.

I used to really enjoy this place for its location with sunny terrace in spring and fall, but the prices are so high now that it’s simply not worth it anymore. Charging 6 euros for half a tomato with some grated cheese, 4,5 for a quarter of an avocado, on top of 18 euros for 2 friend eggs on bread with pancetta and some basic salad… i wont come back anymore unfortunately Only good thing that happened: the extremely grumpy blond women is gone and is replaced by overly excited new staff

Really good coffee! But I don’t get the recup: we had our recycled cups, and we don’t know where to give them to a coffee place and get our money back. We didn’t receive so much instructions on that.

A super expensive hipster cafe... but nice view and in the sun Yes everything is bio, but still paying 18euro for a slice of bread, with eggs, avocado and some baked tomatoes is a bit much. For 18euro it should be possible to have a big portion. If someone asks to remove the organic meat, give them a discount🫤

Phenomenal place, can only recommend

We got ourselves a piece of cheese cake with some drinks. Was some of the best cheese cake I've ever had! The prices are a bit high, but service was super fast and friendly. The server even gave us some recommendations on other nice places to go in Berlin.

If you can't serve your tables you should at least warn them in advance. We had to wait a very long time.

We had a great breakfast experience! The food was delicious and the service was very accommodating. The location is also really nice and quiet. However, the prices are not cheap, you have to be aware of that beforehand.

The place is really nice! The staff was super-friendly; they even found us (we were 3) a nice table outside at noon on Sunday when the place was full. The service was swift, the food was delicious. Highly recommend! PS Honestly, I don’t get why people complain about prices - you can see if the price range is for you before you order, right? It’s not a kind of “surprise” when you get a bill. There is a menu with prices available at the door and on any table.

The cafe looked very nice so we thought it would be a good idea to sit here to drink a cup of coffee. However, we had already had to wait for quite some to be seated by a waiter (while there was several tables unoccupied). Also, the coffee was really expensive (€6) while it was nothing special. Wouldn't recommend this place.

I had the royal eggs for brunch, and the salmon wasn't tasty at all, it was very white and salty, seemed old. The portion was small for the price. I definitely won't come back.

I had food here the other day, it was rather bland. I waited 30 minutes for it too! When I went in the atmosphere was horrible and the way the manager seemed to talk to the staff was very intense. There’s a professional way to speak to your colleagues. If over priced bad food and poor management is your thing then this is the place for you!!!!

Brutally overpriced, they even charge for tap water here. Large orange juice 11 euros.

The host was disgusting. They seem to judge who they let in based on how they look. I used to visit this place a lot every time I visit from NYC because the food was great however their energy changed a lot . If you choose to go just be ready that you may meet a very insulting and unkind host

Joli café/resto, avec vue sur un impressionnant château d'eau et son parc dans un quartier très chouette pour se balader. Différentes recettes d'oeufs (bénédicte, mimosa, etc.) toutes plus bonnes les unes que les autres. Un poil cher car il n'y a pas de 'formule' de brunch, il faut tout prendre à la carte et ça chiffre vite, mais la terrasse est très agréable et on se régale.

Very cool atmosphere, nicely decorated. Good food, prices unfortunately a bit high, but very good. Reservations are recommended as it is very busy. Great for breakfast and brunch.

Note to all guests who are confused (like me): there are two shops Bety n Caty on Knaackstrasse. A No. 8 (small café) and a N26 (big store) The small one is super cozy and the insider tip for good cake and coffee in Prenzlberg. Great salads. Sandwiches. 😍 The large one is great for brunch and mimosa, but be sure to reserve. I'd love to come back, but I'd rather be on a smaller scale. Note to the owners: please be sure to mark and separate the stores clearly on the internet.

This was a lovely cafe! Absolutely delicious and very cute ceramics. The food was very fresh and well flavored. I will be back!

I haven’t been here in years, but I was graced by nostalgic whimsy recently and thought back on my time in Prenzlauer Berg when I was at my life’s loneliest. So inconsolably and impossibly lonely, in fact, that I used to tell people my two best friends in the city were two girls named Betty and Caty. You have to understand, these were Americans I was talking to — they had no idea about the restaurant, I could get away with it! But every time I would come here for my weekly Sunday brunch after I had just told yet another friend or family member an ocean away about my two best friends, I would be awash with sadness. To everyone back home Betty and Caty were flesh and bone, but I knew the truth: Betty and Caty weren’t even figments of my imagination, they were names on a sign. I’d look around the room and see happy families, couples, friends. I’d look into my plate and see the remains of my Eggs Benedict in front of me — the last bits of yolk all smeared and glowing like an idea — interrupted only by an odd tear that rolled out of eye, and maybe an occasional whimper, inaudible to everyone in the room, even myself.

Delicious food and nice service

We waited for drinks more than 20 minutes. For food more than 45 minutes. And you know what? It was absolutely tasteless. I think their chief forgot that salt exists. Also they brought a raw poached egg. The part of egg white was absolutely transparent. And you know what? Waiter said that it’s should be like that in poached egg. Totally not recommend.

If you are ready to wait more than 45 minutes for your mediocre breakfast, you can go to this place.

50 euros for breakfast for two, which includes some cheese, some ham, croissant, coffee, orange juice, bread, eggs, basically what you can buy in the supermarket for 5 euros. Looks like profiteering to me

Overpriced and arrogant service - food quality is okish but there are so many better options around. If you can skip this try do find another place - I suggest Sirene

We were here for breakfast brunch. The service was so incredibly attentive - we have rarely experienced such great service, we felt so looked after.

Banana bread was too dry...really dry...but otherwise the atmosphere and service were great!

I had Eggs Benedict and the Detox drink which cost a total of 29 euros. The food is okay and nice but not that superb, it is definitely overpriced for its quality. The atmosphere is nice but I think it was too cramped. Service was very good, staff are nice and accommodating even during the most busy times, they speak good English and are friendly.

Great and quiet little place We didn't eat so can't say anything about the food. But it was good beer. Draws down that the waiters were not so attentive. Served several times with empty glasses. Here it could have been better.

I can already see the bad reviews! I'm annoyed that I just saw it now. To Betty and Caty: 18 euros for 2 breads with a poached egg and a bit of salad?? That was two small bites. But you can charge prices like that in hipster Prenzlauer Berg, right? There are enough tourists and hipsters who pay for it. That's why no one has to wonder why they don't go out to eat anymore. It's endlessly overpriced. For 18 euros I get 2.5 kebabs at Rüyam! And then I get full from a kebab. I had another apprenticeship with brunch in Berlin. Never again!

Delicious and cozy, yet a little pricy

We used to like having breakfast here, but lately we don't like it at all. The prices are extremely overpriced for the portions and the food to be honest. We had a reservation and still had to wait for 20 min. Service was friendly but I feel they are completely understaffed.

When we were there for breakfast recently, there were no eggs in stock around half past eleven on a Monday in the middle of Berlin and the selection was correspondingly limited. The food and drinks chosen were tasty, the service was friendly but unprofessional (glasses were touched with hands in the mouth area, etc.). However, supply and prices are no longer in a good relationship. I accidentally found photos of the menu from 2019 in my cell phone (so VAT reductions/increases in connection with Corona didn't play a role). Back then, for example, Bircher muesli small for 6.50 euros/large 9.90 euros, today generally 12 euros; Bread with poached egg and avocado then 8.90 euros, today 15.50 euros; Rösti with avocado and salmon back then 11.60 euros, today 18 euros; At the big breakfast for two people there is now coffee and a small. Orange juice included, but the price has almost doubled from 25.90 euros to 48 euros. The café was once really recommended, but today it seems like a rip-off.

“You can sit here (outside) for a maximum of 1.5 hours,” the waitress said, even though I was waiting for 4 more people. This is extremely rude. The reason: it is a small company. This way you can also scare away your guests. I'm definitely NOT coming back. In addition: very small portions, absolutely overpriced, tea e.g. 4.50 euros, extra honey 0.50.

A cafe in a nice location with good food, but an unfriendly and completely incompetent “usherwoman” spoils any desire to visit! If a man/woman comes without a reservation, you will be ignored for 10 minutes until someone deigns to show you a seat. If you make a reservation and are - alas - a few minutes late, you are told that the place is already taken and you should stand on your feet for 20 minutes...! Thank goodness there's Pasternak right next door, where you can just choose a sunny spot and have a good time without an affected usher.

I don't recommend at all, as it is overpriced for such a slow and poor service. It took 45+ minutes to eat something in the end and it was not what it was said on the menu. The bread was disappointing least to say

Second time I have had this frustrating experience: they don't take care of you! Apparently the waiter forgets you are there. I doubt I'll give the place a third chance. I found the prices to be high for the overall quality. Finally after waiting too long we got up and left. Very disappointed. Ugly experience.

Unfriendly staff and portions far too small!

The food is good, but the service and atmosphere are not very nice. You are given the feeling that you are not a guest but a troublemaker.

On entry after waiting quite a while with staff beside us no with no communication. When I asked if we could take a seat was told abruptly just to wait until someone attends you. After waiting yet more time we decided to leave where upon the same member of staff who had been standing beside us and ignoring us shouted “by guys!” Absolutely disgusted with customer service if as we had guessed this member of staff was involved with staff training, not at the door during opening times, not acceptable!

Tasty and nice service, but way too expensive…

I had breakfast there with my girlfriend today. We had toast with bacon, egg Benedict, hollandaise sauce and salad. For €18 per person we had high expectations. Unfortunately the food was bland and the very high vinegar taste masked everything. Didn't find the price for the dish reasonable at all. The beautiful ambience couldn't save the breakfast either. The two of us paid €50 with a tip for a bad breakfast with coffee. I can't recommend it in good conscience. A pity!

Very good brunch cafe. Quiet and nice ambience. Ideal for egg breakfast. The harsh browns are very tasty. Nice terrace for sunny days in the heart of Kollwitzkiez.

Hello, a really, really nice shop. I've only been there once so I can only report on this one time! We had a carrot cake and two coffees. The coffee came in a large cup which I would describe as a very fair portion. The carrot cake looks very tasty but unfortunately it wasn't at all :(. When I took the first bite I was a bit shocked at how sweet it was. I haven't tried such a sweet cake in a long time :( it really wasn't tasty. It just tasted sweet . Maybe an oversight 🤷‍♀️? I don't know it. I definitely found it too expensive for that ☹️. Suddenly it smelled really bad. Like burnt milk or something similar smelling. Then we left... Beautifully designed ✨

This place used to be good some time ago. Now it’s just overpriced and the food is not even that special. We had egg s Benedict that we served on two tiny toast bread slices (for around 16€ you’d expect at least a good sourdough bread) and some hash browns which were way too greasy. We actually left hungry. Coffee wasn’t good either. All in all it felt like a total rip off. Absolutely not worth the money.

Der aktuelle durchschnitt 3.9 ist total ungerecht. Dieses Café ist uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen. Ich komme hier schon seit Jahren. Das Essen ist immer top, die Service total freundlich, der Kaffee großartig. Viele Rezensionen haben nur ein Kritikpunkt: der Preis. Was es kosten wird ist aber vor der Bestellung nicht geheim! Die Gastronomie ist generell sehr teuer geworden. Hier nicht weniger oder mehr. Nur dass es zwei Lokale n in nächster Nähe gibt sollten sie vielleicht etwas besser kommunizieren. Regelmäßig warten Leute in dem jeweils anderen Lokal als derjenige mit dem sie verabredet sind. Leicht zu lösen …

Vom Ambiente her ganz gemütlich doch das preis Leistungs Verhältnis stimmt garnicht überein. Speisen viel zu klein und überteuert. In meinen Augen nichts besonderes leider…

Poached egg selection is great. I had a poached egg with avocado, chilly and lemon. Their bread is also great. Try the herbal teas if you’re into herbal tea.

Zufällig entdeckt, sehr einladend, freundlicher Service und Kaffee mit Karotten-Frischkäse war sehr lecker! Vielen Dank für ein kleines Highlight!

We reserved this place for brunch before reading reviews. Then read some reviews and still wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. But unfortunately most negative reviews of this place are correct. Food is way too expensive for what you get, even for Prenzlauer Berg. It is very cheeky. Neither the quality nor the quantity do justify the prices charged at this place. Both are unfortunately subpar. Service was nice enough but the maitre d' clearly was clearly having a bad day or maybe just didn't like us and she wasn't trying to hide that - we were more than courteous with her though. As for the atmosphere - when the place is busy, it is very very cramped. It wasn't a horrible experience but unfortunately we won't be returning here again.

Really like this place! The food is really good a bit more pricey compared to some other places but delicious!

Das Ambiente ist schön, Service such sehr nett. Leider aber steht die Qualität des Essens nicht im Verhältnis zum Preis. Die Egg Toasts (17.50€) sind geschmacklich sehr mäßig, der Kaffe überzeugte nicht, auch der Orangensaft schien eher vom Supermarkt zu kommen. Daher leider nur 2 Sterne.

Very cosy place. Love it! I was extremely surprised when I came here on one Monday morning when the staff asked me about the reservation. I said no, why would I reserve a table in a coffee place on Monday morning. I got the place nevertheless and about twenty minutes later I understood why you need reservation. The place was full of people, chatting, working, enjoying their coffee and sweets.

Came here for brunch (around 13:00)with 3 other friends on a Saturday. It was busy as expected. The service was really nice. They attended us well and were asking if we needed anything. The only complaint I have was how long it took for the food to come out to us(again understandable due to the business); the bright side was that the food was good. The drinks were quick though and delicious.
