My favorite restaurant in Oldenburg

Once again, the food was delicious! Super friendly staff.

I made a reservation for 9 p.m., only to be told "the kitchen is closed. They only serve snacks." The website says "food until 10:30 p.m." Unfortunately, the service wasn't great either. I had to get my own cutlery for my €17 cold tarte flambée. Best to go to another restaurant—it's not worth the time/money.

An all-round successful evening.

We went to "Bestiality" before a theater visit. The food was good, nicely presented, and the portions were generous. We particularly liked the staff, both in the restaurant and at the bar. The atmosphere was just right. Thank you very much.

The organization of a registered group of 30 people with pre-ordered food could have been improved. However, the quality of the food was very good.

It's been very good for years. We like the lunch menu. It's nice and quiet from 12 p.m. onwards, and you can sit outside in the summer. The food is always a 10 out of 10.

Very good and sometimes unusual combination of dishes. It's not cheap, but worth every euro. The staff is very friendly and beyond having fun. We'd love to come back.

A very good restaurant with a nice selection of food and drinks. The open kitchen allows a glimpse into the preparation process. For me, it's something special, and I highly recommend it for special occasions. The partially changing dishes and seasonal specials round out the entire experience.

I was there for lunch yesterday. The food was truly excellent. What disappointed me, however, was that the PUREZZA Premium water I was sold was actually filtered tap water. I researched the supplier of the filter systems. The manufacturer of these filter systems advertises its sustainability credentials, but this doesn't apply to Bestial, as I discovered several crates of water in plastic bottles under a table. I find it outrageous that you have to pay €2.90 for 0.375 liters of tap water. Especially since filtering our tap water is completely unnecessary in Germany. Since I absolutely dislike tap water and there is no alternative available, I had to go without a drink.

A top address not only for visitors to the State Theater directly opposite. We were greeted very nicely, the service with drinks and food was very good and quick, and the dishes we chose were very good.

We had a great evening as a large group. My pizza was extremely tasty, something different! The waiter was also very nice and on the ball. The only thing that bothered us was that the boss (?) started clearing away from us while some of us were still eating.

This was my second visit to Bestial and I really enjoyed it again. The food is something different, away from the mainstream and of very high quality. Cozy atmosphere and attentive but not intrusive service.

We have always enjoyed the high quality of pasta in Bestial. Hint: If you want to try something different, try their pasta with liver.

Went for dinner with a large group of 36 people. Tapas as a starter was delicious and with lots of variety. Main courses were communicated in advance and were on everyone's table within a few minutes, fantastic.

Great restaurant, small menu, nice dishes, good food pairing

The cocktails are very good, but unfortunately the food is not worth the exorbitant price. For just under €19 we would have expected a fresh burger patty and not frozen meat. Unfortunately, the food overall wasn't very tasty... as if the spices were completely missing. If “the chef is in love” with an oversalted dish, then the chefs at Bestail are all in the middle of a divorce.

The service and food was first class.

Depending on what you order, the food is delicious. However, “Red Pizza” was very dry. What is not possible for the price-performance ratio are the toilets (ladies). They were dirty and unclean. The paper was all over the place. Very unfortunate.

As a “new” or “first seen guest” I just felt “unspectular” to myself/us, uninteresting and unimportant. Really very, very unprofessional and unfortunately very, very inappropriate.… When asked, a staff shortage emerged that could have been communicated before dissatisfaction arose. There are definitely other exciting places in Oldenburg, where I just moved…

Great food. Perfect beef fillet. However, other guests were given preferential treatment. We were only able to order and reorder drinks because we asked. That was a shame.

Wir waren vor einer Theatervorstellung als größere Gruppe im Bestial zum Essen. Für uns war es eine tolle Einstimmung in den Abend. Der Service war sehr nett und hilfsbereit, die Getränke und das Essen durchweg sehr gut. Das Ambiente ist ansprechend und modern. Wenn ich Oldenburg noch einmal besuchen sollte, werde ich sicherlich wieder in das Bestial gehen.

Qualität der insbesondere vom Fleisvh war schlecht. Kellner hat außerdem 10,- Euro zuviel von Karte abgezogen. Dies schien NICHT Zufall oder Missverständnis zu sein ...

Unfortunately, the Bestial is definitely no longer what it used to be, which is a real shame. I had almost forgotten my impression from my last visit there, but when we stopped by yesterday the memory flared up again. Only this time I was even less satisfied. It was still quite empty and didn't look like there were too few service staff. Nevertheless, we tried in vain for 20 minutes to get a waiter's attention and so we were left stranded for almost half an hour during our very long wait for the main course. Doubly annoying because our order for the main course was lost in the kitchen and had to be requested again there. So in the end after 2 hours we didn't even have time for an espresso because we had a follow-up appointment. The edge of the main course pizza was dark brown! Also black in some places, the dough base was also black in many places, I can't even get that on a ready-made pizza. The taste experience was correspondingly disappointing. Unfortunately, my stomach wasn't doing well either. Annoying. We also found the decoration careless with LED tea lights. Unfortunately, placemats in Bestial now seem to be overrated, as are the little greetings from the kitchen that always used to be available. Conclusion: For such a disappointing evening, almost 100 euros for 2 people is simply not a good value for money for the guest, so we will not be coming back. By the way, I already gave exactly this feedback to the waitress in the restaurant.

The Bestial is perfectly located if you want to go to the Oldeburg State Theater after a good meal. Here you sit comfortably in a stylishly designed environment, receive very attentive and friendly service and are served delicious and original dishes. We've been to Bestial three times now and are sure it won't be our last visit.

Unfortunately, the restaurant seems to lack the professionalism to respond to reservations in a timely manner. A booking made over a month ago will be canceled two days before its appointment because the restaurant is closed.

We went to Bestial for brunch and really enjoyed it. Everything tasted very good; from smoked salmon to the selection of cheese and cold cuts. The service was quick and friendly - despite the full restaurant. We'd love to come back.

We had a Christmas party here, but unfortunately something went wrong. We weren't able to take our place until much too late, so we had to wait outside for a long time. The food came far too late and the starter was far too few for the number of people. After ordering, drinks came too late or not at all. Cocktail orders were rudely rejected by the head waiter because we don't have anything on the menu today and we don't have enough staff. Not okay for a location like this in this price range. Maybe it was just a stressful time but it was disappointing that evening, even though we paid a lot of money here.

We ordered pizza from Bestial for dinner and had it delivered via Uber Eats. Unfortunately, the pizza arrived almost cold, which of course the restaurant can't do anything about. But a good pizza also tastes good cold. And there lies the problem. Unfortunately it wasn't a good pizza. Little taste and the base had nothing to do with real pizza dough. It's better to order from any pizza delivery service in Oldenburg.

We reserved online and got a really great table. Service: our man of the hour. Super nice. Food also delicious. Good mood. The evening was a lot of fun. The white wine spritzer has to be highlighted: it's not just mush but has taste.

Super nice, always try to offer something special and like to come up with more special cocktails. All steaks and most other things are great, don't eat the burger.

Wir sind mit Freunden an einem frühen Sonntagabend zum Abendessen gegangen. Das Ambiente ist wirklich schön. Die Servicekräfte waren jung und sehr nett aber leider nicht wirklich geschult. Obwohl wenig los war kam das Essen nicht gleichzeitig und es gab immer wieder längere Wartezeiten. Das Essen war bezogen auf Qualität und Menge okay aber deutlich überteuert. Was uns jedoch wirklich geärgert hat war die Tatsache, dass das bestellte Wasser (eine große Flasche still, eine große Flasche mit Sprudel) erst auf Nachfrage als Leitungswasser "deklariert" wurde (Keine Info auf der Karte). Ich liebe das Oldenburger Leitungswasser, und ich finde es sehr gut, dass ein Restaurantbesitzer nachhaltig denkend Leitungswasser anbietet, statt viele Flaschen Wasser von irgendwoher zu beziehen. Dass aber dieses Leitungswasser 0,75l am Ende mit 6,90€ pro Flasche auf der Rechnung erscheint... das hat uns dann doch irritiert. Wir werden hier nicht mehr essen gehen.

I have never tasted such fantastic chicken liver. The plate was great cinema.

Vielleicht hatten wir einfach nur Pech. Wir hatten 2x Thunfisch und für das Kind Rind mit Stampf bestellt. Der Kartoffelstampf kam leider bereits kalt an den Tisch und musste zurück. Der 2. Versuch war dann tiptop. Die beiden Thunfischfilets waren geschmacklich ausgezeichnet, kaum aus dem Restaurant fingen jedoch die Beschwerden an. Zuerst nur bei mir, später auch bei meinem Mann. Wie auf Knopfdruck bekam ich starke Kopfschmerzen. Beide hatten massive Hautausschläge am ganzen Körper und Durchfall. Zum Glück hatten wir Antihistamin-Tabletten dabei, was Schlimmeres vermied. Wir beiden haben sonst keine Fischallergien o.ä. Da muss was mit der Kühlkette nicht in Ordnung sein. Der kleine Beilagensalat bzw. der Blattspinat für je € 4.50 fanden wir für die kleine Portion viel zu teuer.

We had dinner there with friends. The staff was super friendly and the space on the terrace was great on this warm evening. We shared delicious tarte flambée as a starter. However, my main course was pasta a la gorgonzola, unfortunately the worst pasta dish I have ever eaten at this price level. I'm really sorry, especially because the evening was so nice, but how you can make such a simple dish so pickled is a mystery to me. This is my 2nd recession in 20 years. I don't like doing this at all, but today the harsh criticism had to come out. sorry

It was definitely something special! The food was super tasty and there were great creations. I would have been happy about one or two vegan options. The dishes were very nicely prepared!! The service was also good, but at the end we had to wait a relatively long time to be able to pay, which is why I imagine that would be difficult for a visit before going to the theater. Overall, it's definitely a great restaurant with home-made pasta that's impressive!

On Saturday evening at 10:30 p.m. after the theater performance, the small menu with tarte flambée and other dishes was available. Thank you very much for that and for the good service!

Six of us had dinner at Bestial and we all left the restaurant with a very positive experience. The quality and taste of the food is really very good. The portion sizes are also sufficient and the selection of dishes is also great. Every dish came to the table really well warm or even hot! The service/waiters were also super attentive and quick. There were one or two moments when we had to wait a while for drinks, but the restaurant was also busy and the service staff were busy accordingly. The ambience is also very pleasant, the kitchen is somewhat visible and overall the rooms are very open. We were able to talk there for several hours without any problems and enjoy the evening. This speaks for both the seating and the ambience and mood there. 😇 Overall it was a successful evening, it's not particularly cheap... but where else is...

This could potentially be disappointing for some guests, especially considering the price. More generous portioning could improve the overall experience. Another point that marred my experience was the timing challenge between courses. The main course was served way too soon after the starter, so we couldn't even fully enjoy the starter before the next meal arrived. This aspect could be improved by better coordination of serving times to optimize the enjoyment of each course. Regarding service, I would like to point out that during my visit there was a less than pleasant dynamic between the waiters. It seemed like the staff, particularly the head waiter, were criticizing each other in my presence, adding to an unpleasant atmosphere. The public disagreement between the employees (head-waiter) affected my overall experience and did not help me feel particularly comfortable as a guest. Professional and harmonious collaboration among staff is crucial to creating a positive atmosphere in the restaurant. Despite the high quality food and attractive decoration, it would be desirable for the team to work behind the scenes on improved team communication to ensure that guests enjoy a completely pleasant and hassle-free dining experience. Despite these criticisms, I have to emphasize that the taste of the food was quite convincing. The kitchen delivers high quality dishes that delight the palate. Overall, Bestial offers a solid dining experience, although it could be improved with some adjustments in portioning and serving time.

We must have had a bad day there. The tuna was way too well done and the mini portion of vegetables ordered with it was cold. Overall, the size of the main course was probably suitable for a 6-course menu. For the second main course at the table, the beetroot mash was cold and was then quickly warmed up, probably in the microwave. Too bad, that was our first and last visit.

It was our first time at Bestial and we reserved a table online about 60 minutes in advance. We were then told on site that this was unfortunately a system error and that there was no space available for us...then why such a good rating? Because a solution was sought!!! There were only two seats occupied at a table for six and we were allowed and wanted to sit down and were naturally greeted with a Prosecco on the house "as an apology". In other restaurants I get the impression that I have to apologize because I'm causing trouble :[ There was a lively conversation with the people sitting next to us, the atmosphere was very good, the food was fantastic (in terms of taste and appearance!!!) and the service was attentive and friendly. We will definitely come back again!!!!!

The Bestial in Oldenburg offers first-class, high-quality food. Despite the crowded atmosphere on Valentine's Day, the food was outstanding. One star deducted for the crowded situation but overall a great experience. I'd love to come back again and again!
