Berliner Kartoffelhaus in Berlin

A nice restaurant where you can find classic German dishes and where mostly older Germans are present. You can choose and order one of 15 potatoes to accompany your main meal, they are included in the price of the main dish. The service personnel inside explain all this information with a smile.

Simply MAGNIFICENT!! First day in Berlin and we weren't sure where to eat and we found the perfect place. A delicious meal, a super pretty decoration and the super friendly waiter who spoke to us in Spanish despite not knowing very well. Super recommended

The potato house is clocky, so it's beautifully rustic. The waitress, well, she made a mistake with the table, we came with 14 people. But since we were one less anyway, that didn't matter to us. No, she insisted on the other table... We moved. Oh no, it was the other table. We moved again. However, only some of those who liked it there simply stayed put. So the rest of them retreated again and the waitress looked up as high as usual. Could we decide now? Please?? Who made a mistake with the tables here? The raised eyebrows remained the whole evening and so did the corresponding mood. Hospitality looks different. The chef(s) were great and that's the most important thing. Since everyone ate something different, we were able to test the dishes back and forth. The potato house can be recommended without question. But it's better to come by public transport, there are no parking spaces!

We were there yesterday for dinner in the afternoon. My partner had a steak with dumplings and gravy and I had the kale. So if you want to eat really good home cooking, this is the place for you. The kale was simply great, a generous portion and simply delicious. We were thrilled. Thanks to the team also for the great service! We'd love to come back.

At first it took 30 minutes for the waiter to come to take the order because we asked for it. Then it took another 30 minutes to get the food. It took 20 minutes after ordering to get the drink and they brought the wrong drink. The place was not good. Unless you have all the time in the world, don't go here!

Service is top, ambience is simply great. Food was tasty and plentiful but a bit on the expensive side. The shop seems to be very popular, it's definitely worth making a reservation in the evening, otherwise you might not be able to find space.

TERRIBLE. ARROGANT AND RUDE STAFF. We looked in for the first time and they sent us away saying that there were no free tables even though there were! The next day I booked through Quandoo, we showed up at the time and despite the reservation, shown on our mobile phone, they kicked us out, saying that they don't take reservations and that there were no tables.

Despite the wait, they found us a table. The service was pleasant and fast. They were trying to be friendly. Except that at the end of the evening, at the time of the bill they told us that it was the same without a tip, suggesting as if we were obligated to give it. We gave it because we felt uncomfortable not doing so but we informed ourselves and here the tip is not obligatory.

Very long waiting times. Right from the start we had to wait at the entrance for at least 10 minutes without being noticed or shown to a table. After we were finally seated, it took another 15 minutes for our order to be taken. We then had to wait another 15 minutes for the drinks, and we received a large drink instead of a small one. Customers who came after us got their food before us. It wasn't until 45 minutes after we ordered that our food was served, which was tasty but didn't justify the long wait. Other guests also seemed visibly annoyed by the chaos. We wouldn't visit this restaurant again!

A quaint, beautifully decorated restaurant. The friendly staff is pleasantly attentive and helpful. The dishes are delicious and typically hearty. Not everyone can make fried potatoes but here they are perfect. Farmer's pan, schnitzel, chicken and black pudding were very tasty. We'll be back!

Was there today for the first but also last time. Only received our menu after 15 minutes. After another 15 minutes we still hadn't been served. Were simply ignored. When a table that arrived after us was served, we left. That's not how you treat guests

Impossible service. There was a line up to the door of people wanting something to eat. Although there were plenty of tables free and set, those waiting were not acknowledged at all. The staff was busy with taps, bringing food, clearing up food, collecting money, yes, okay. But to briefly say: do they take a seat here or there, the ladies didn't come up with the idea. Incredible Berlin arrogance. Furthermore, the prices are not listed on the menu online. This is disingenuous for me. Two reasons not to go to the potato house.

Nonostante quanto riportato nelle recensioni precedenti, noi ci siamo travati bene, ci hanno servito subito ed il cameriere è stato molto cordiale. Quella di chiedere la mancia è un malcostume che ho ritrovato spesso a Berlino. Come dice il nome, si punta molto sulle patate, cucinate in tutti i modi possibili, che fanno da accompagnamento a piatti tipici della tradizione locale, in genere piuttosto sostanziosi. Mi è piaciuta molto la zuppa ungherese, simile al gulasch ma più ricca. Piatti abbondanti.

In this big city we were looking for a nice, atmospheric place where we could eat at our leisure. We had quite a walk there. It was quite a surprise when we entered. What a nice cozy atmosphere to enter and the staff is really super friendly and has a good sense of humor. We opted for the Austrian Schnitzel, which was really delicious. All in all we really enjoyed it. So if you are in Berlin you should definitely not miss this one. Highly recommended!

In deze grote stad waren we op zoek naar een leuke sfeervolle zaak waar we lekker op ons gemak konden eten. We hadden een hele wandeling er op zitten. Het was een hele verrassing toen we binnen kwamen. Wat een leuke gezellige sfeer om in binnen te komen en het personeel is echt super vriendelijk en heeft goede humor. We hadden gekozen voor de Oostenrijkse Schnitzel deze was echt superlekker. Alles bij elkaar hebben we er echt van genoten. Dus als je in Berlijn bent mag je deze zeker niet overslaan. Een dikke vette aanrader!

A few steps from Alexanderplatz, a place with a traditional German atmosphere. All very interesting and apparently also substantial dishes. I took what was listed as one of the strong dishes of the house. As a side dish you have to choose from dozens of types of potatoes. From the name of the place you should have expected it! The dish is a mix of different things, which is very strange for us Italians, but the taste was really good. Very kind staff. Worth coming back to try other dishes.

Very nice restaurant in the middle of Berlin. My colleague and I were thrilled. The knuckle was baked to perfection with a nice crust, and the veal liver is also highly recommended. The service was nice and attentive, small beginner's mistakes were not a major problem

We were very well received by the waitress whose name is Maha. The dishes are very generous but a little greasy. Please note the service is not included in the final bill, we were asked for an additional 10% as tips. We had lunch in several restaurants in Berlin where tipping was included in the bill. It's a shame, Management should review the way it pays its servers.

Which chef offers grilled vegetables with a schnitzel? Is a normal schnitzel Mediterranean? We wanted 2 schnitzels with just mashed potatoes, lemon and some sauce. Please just leave out salad or vegetables! Waitress says she is asking. After a while, 1 schnitzel with puree and Mediterranean vegetables arrived (which isn't on the menu as a side dish anyway)😅😂, with the sentence: We don't make any special requests😅 I didn't really want anything extra except the sauce. Actually they should leave something out that I would have paid for anyway. But hey, thank God food doesn't cost much 😅😂 You can throw it away since we didn't eat the vegetables/we didn't want any. It's nice that it was only a schnitzel for two people. Well waitress maybe didn't understand correctly. Then we shared. The worst thing in this strange restaurant, however, is the non-existent atmosphere, despite the pop music, a mood like after a funeral. Catastrophe❗Incidentally, we were there on the same day as the group of 13 who just wanted a drink and were sent away. Schickes Kartoffelhaus mit dementsprechenden Ambiente. Es sind mehrere Abteile, sodass es nicht voll wirkt oder zu laut ist. Man wird platziert und erhält dann auch gleich die Karte. Der Kellner ist nett, sehr aufmerksam ohne aufdringlich zu wirken. Steak mit Würzfleisch ist sehr zu empfehlen und die Karte lässt einige Varianten zu. Natürlich auch in englisch. Die Portionen sind gut gefüllt und man wird satt.
