Very good restaurant, menu offers something for every guest. You should definitely visit Gotha.

Omg the ice cream wasn’t what i expected It wasn’t Not satisfied I won’t recommend their Ice cream.

Great atmosphere. Ratskeller no German cuisine. According to the motto “Schuster stick to your lasts” you should only choose Italian dishes. The kitchen doesn’t have a “good” approach to German food. It looks good, but unfortunately the taste/quality wasn't right.

Unfriendly waiters who don't know the numbers of your dishes. Chicken not cooked through in salad. Price performance doesn't fit.

In summer it's great to spend time outside with good food and good drinks. Service is always prompt and friendly.

I have rarely experienced such unfriendly employees. Four of us were eating ice cream and after we informed them that there was something wrong with the cream because it looked lumpy and was far too buttery, we were not taken seriously and were treated much worse afterwards than at the beginning. He allegedly passed on our request and when we wanted to pay, he didn't even ask if we wanted to pay together or separately and literally threw the bill on the table to my partner. It's a disgrace that the waiter didn't even say goodbye to us after paying, since of course there was no tip.

Food was okay. A bit too expensive for the quality. Nothing special 🤷🏼. Service not good. Awkward and not particularly attentive. The whole thing is loveless. Plastic flower on the table... The back area towards the toilet isn't particularly well maintained, it's a shame

Had ice cream there today and the cream tasted completely like butter. The service did not take the problem seriously. When paying, you are not asked whether you want to pay separately or together and there was no goodbye either. Very unfriendly Was definitely our last visit. It's a shame that you can't give minus stars here.

We haven't eaten so badly in a long time. My Thuringian dumplings with goulash and red cabbage....no taste, the sauce was watery and the meat...well.... The waiter was overwhelmed, tense, couldn't remember who ordered what, when. There was a lot of back and forth with the orders...Please be sure to make improvements!!!!!

Very clean, comfortable, you can sit outside the Rat Haus Küken it is in the middle of the city very satisfied friendly conditions, you can also sit inside very nice food tastes delicious I can recommend it.

First of all I have to say that the food was really excellent and the atmosphere is really nice when you can sit outside, but I still have a few things to complain about... The straw on my Lillet still had lipstick on it from the previous guest, which unfortunately I only noticed after I had drunk something. I found it very disgusting! But the young waiter just asked why I wasn't wearing lipstick.. (was that supposed to be funny?) He took the straw with him and brought a new one.. He owed me an apology or something like that!! My companion and I each ordered a pasta dish.. When the dishes came, we realized that one was wrong... we hadn't ordered it! It was confirmed that it was apparently a mistake on the part of the kitchen. So I ate my pasta alone and my companion got their food exactly 5 minutes after I was finished. This time there was an apology, but only that... No free coffee as an excuse, restaurateurs don't seem to do that anymore these days! What also amused me a lot... the waiters, at least some of them seem to "really love their job" - at least this was quite credibly expressed several times as we walked past 😉 Conclusion: excellent food, the rest... well

An atmosphere like at the train station. At 8 p.m. the tables and chairs began to be cleared away. It was probably a nuisance. The starter came with the main course, which we later got back warmed up. The noodles were correspondingly mushy and even though my husband didn't want arugula, he had it twice. He actually wanted to eat pizza, but was told it wasn't available anymore. An hour later, other guests ordered pizza and received it. We then had to be insulted by these guests because we had questioned the matter. I actually thought the TV with the hidden camera was just around the corner. Unfortunately only the waiter with the complete bill did not respond to this disaster. Experience gastronomy of a different kind.

Is not recommended Pizza was ordered was rejected with the reason that it was out so I ordered pasta without arugula of course the pasta with arugula came and the starter came with the main course 15 minutes later four people at the next table ordered pizza I went to the waiter I thought the pizzas were out A cursory apology was all so not recommended you are being ripped off across the board they don't listen and bring the wrong thing not even worth one star miserable

Somewhat surprising that the Ratskeller is Italian. Local specialties are also offered and the Thuringian black beer roast tasted good. There are seating options inside and outside, whereby you can look directly at the town hall when sitting in front of the house or under the parasol.

Not a nice atmosphere. The “boss” walks around the store arrogantly and doesn’t answer questions. You can't feel comfortable in such conditions. The boss depends on the guests and his staff!!! But we didn't have the feeling that he saw it that way.

I'm happy to give 5 stars because everything is right here: beautiful location right next to the historic town hall, delicious food and friendly staff. Top.

It was always an experience to see this building from the Schellenbrunnen. This building, built in two columns, with its own bells and tower, extends from Marktstrasse to Buttergasse. A large restaurant and coffee crown the view. The large umbrellas with tables invite you to linger and enjoy on hot days. ☕️🍹 Many people only see that there is a tower with a base of a pillar when they stand in front of it and think how that works🤔 and there is also a corner entrance. Even back then, people built things that were different, but very beautiful.

I cannot imagine how all the other reviews talk about the service. We came here on a monday afternoon to eat a pizza. We could pick out our own table and got helped right away. The service was quick and they even helped with the wasp problem around our drinks. The pizza's we had were amazing! I myself prefer a little bit less oil on the pizza but i think the salami was to blame for that hahaha. When we paid the server was really nice and even joked about the 5 euro bill we gave him (he thought it was fake since it was an old one). Overall a very good experience!

We visited more than once. Previously, a lot of tasty... Now... I think 2 stars is a lot. Last visit... The cutlery was dirty, we were chasing the waiter to serve us, the food... Schnitzel with cheese sauce. About a year ago, a large portion, gorgonzola sauce... And the last visit. The fries look like they were made of gold, such a portion, the sauce looks like from a package from Tom's. And most likely the last visit. Cost cutting has been visible for some time. And changing the kitchen staff for the worse. If things came back to normal, we would love to visit again.

The “Thuringian food” was probably more out of the box, overpriced and bad. The service was friendly and fun thanks to the immigrant waiters. It's actually a nice place, but the decision to eat at an Italian restaurant next time was the right one.

Nice ambience and attentive service. However, this couldn't make up for the bad food. Neither dumplings, roulade, roast in black beer were freshly prepared, probably not even homemade. Half of the food was cold. Maybe you can eat very good Italian food there, but definitely not German. Never again... The restaurant is not barrier-free! To get to the toilet there is a long staircase that leads to the even deeper basement.

The ambience and service are top, but they couldn't make up for the miserable food. Apparently ready-made dishes: roulade tough, cold and not tasty and very questionably homemade. Dumplings are definitely ready-made dumplings. Even the red cabbage was bland and warmed up. All of this for the proud price of 19.90. impudence.

The food was very tasty until I suddenly had two pieces of plastic in my mouth. I immediately contacted the boss and he took the pieces with him. There was no apology or anything.

There were 11 of us on New Year's Eve. Ordered pasta with turkey breast and mango cream sauce to be picked up, €18.50 per meal! Below all dignity, just pasta mush, not edible! Discussion with boss was not possible! Never again Ratskeller!!

The location makes up for a lot. Service was always on site, quick and attentive. However, the food still leaves room for improvement. Partly cold, boring taste. Delay in receiving the food, so that we couldn't eat together after a 20 minute delay.

The first time I was there, I noticed that the staff didn't want to work. I wanted to give a second ski jump. Was a big mistake. Staff haven't changed their attitude, still don't feel like working. The food was overpriced and there was hardly anything on the plate for the price. Just a few fries on the plate and a schnitzel that you could see through if it weren't for the breading. Unless you are known to the staff, you are not welcome here. Never again

A visit for coffee and tea. A Ratsweinkeller is almost always a top address in Germany. Unfortunately not in Gotha. Our starter didn't come, the waiter lied about the cake - said the apple pie was freshly baked. It was clearly a finished cake, frozen goods. A mini portion. My random observation at the pizza oven is even worse😱 It was obviously important to the waiter that no guest noticed what he was doing😱 It's a shame that an Italian is no longer really Italian and has nothing in common with the quality of a real Italian restaurant other than the name

It should be a nice girls' evening with good food and conversation. We entered the restaurant around 6 p.m. and left at 7:50 p.m. after the waiter kept asking if we wanted to order anything else. When we asked about the opening times they said... There are no regular opening hours, we would be the last ones and they would like to close. A restaurant in Gotha's center wants to close at 7:45 p.m.!!!!!!! Okay!! Cheers to Thuringian hospitality. The menu is difficult to understand and confusing. The ambience is nice and the service was friendly, until the notice that it was about to close. Another negative thing was that it was cold and drafty in the room.

There were three of us and we just wanted something to drink. The request for an ashtray was then met with a full ashtray. Very bored waiter, the floor (outside area) very dirty with napkins, silver foil, butts and candy wrappers... and all of this in front of the backdrop of the town hall... never again!

In the afternoon I ordered a coffee with tiramisu (I keep wondering what is served as tiramisu at Italian restaurants in Germany 🤔. There are four ingredients, 4!!! or 5 if you add amaretto and cocoa on top). Well, a 3/10. My ice cream "banana split" was quite ok, the creaminess of the chocolate ice cream left a lot to be desired 6/10. The environment at the market is very quiet and it's quite comfortable to sit outside.

We wanted to eat as a family. The pizza came quickly, the pasta dishes took time, it wasn't possible to eat together, which was a shame.

Today we spontaneously decided to have something different for dinner. Unfortunately we were disappointed, the waitress took forever to take our order. Conversations with subsequent guests were more important. The pizzas we ordered were cold or lukewarm, and the pizza at the neighboring table wasn't warm either. Two other tables were missing additional orders or bread. Unfortunately we will not visit the restaurant again. Sometimes you have the feeling that they are all full and there are a dime a dozen guests anyway. A pity.

On Easter Sunday I spontaneously managed to get a spot on the beautiful market square. Our service was very nice. The calzone was great! well filled. The Margherita pizza was also very tasty and at the end there was an Amarena cup. A very successful stay and highly recommended.

Please note that the online prices on their menu are up to 50% cheaper than on site. This can quickly lead to stress when ordering. For the prices, pizzas are okay but 2 pizzas, a pasta dish, a salad and 2 liters of cola for €70 to pick up is unfortunately too much.

A wild mushroom dish with dumplings was ordered; the few mushrooms were served in a thin soup. Another dish was brought incorrectly and the mistake was only corrected with unfriendly gestures.

I was there on February 29, 2024 with a companion. I wouldn't expect an Italian restaurant in a Ratskeller. The menu includes both Thuringian and Italian dishes. The service was very friendly. I had roast pork and my companion had chicken liver. The food was okay - unfortunately nothing more. The sauce for the roast pork and probably the dumplings were ready-made products. The so-called "fried potatoes" with vegetables with chicken liver were clearly a warmed - not fried - finished product from their appearance. The roast pork was rather tough. I therefore only give it 3/5 stars.

That was terribly disappointing. We used to be here often, now there is a new chef. We order fries, fried potatoes or potato slices are put in the deep fryer (fries are out) - okay, that happened, but it would have been nice if they had just told us that beforehand. The sauce is watery, the schnitzel is mini. Soup was totally over salted. We've never eaten so badly. Honestly, it's just not possible for this price. If I want takeaway food, I will NOT go to a restaurant with prices like that! Simply underground and cheeky.. Thank God there are tourists..

Food was inedible, goulash was burnt, wild mushrooms turned out to be canned mushrooms, gravy tasted like plastic, gorgonzola sauce was a white, tasteless paste. Dumplings were not freshly made. Not recommendable.

A great restaurant! The food was great, the service was very pleasant, there was plenty of space and the division means you don't notice the other guests if it isn't too crowded. Very child friendly! We haven't spent so much time in a restaurant in a long time

We were there on New Year's Eve, it wasn't a big event, just food, The menu wasn't too big, there was something for everyone and it was very good too. The boss and the waiters were always very nice, we liked it!!

We reserved a table for dinner and when we arrived there was a waiter at our side. We got our table and the cards. We then immediately ordered our drinks and took our time looking for food. This was then recorded and arrived relatively promptly (extra requests were accepted and implemented without any problems). The food was hot, beautifully prepared and tasted very good. At the end we were able to pay in cash or by card, although we chose the card payment option. At the end there were two drinks on the house. We'd love to come back!

Wir waren zu dritt, 3 verschiedene Essen bestellt, eines wurde später gebracht, da an Nachbartisch verkauft. Mein Essen sollte mit frischen Tomaten serviert werden, waren aber keine Tomaten dabei ... Was mich aber sehr ärgert: Zahlung heute nur Bargeld. Begründung: Kartengeräte seien ausgelastet. Nachfrage ob die Geräte defekt seien, "nein nur ausgelastet " Also musste ich zur nächsten Bank und Bargeld holen. Kein Problem, komme ich halt nicht mehr.

Da zu essen und zu bestellen ist ein riesen Unterschied. Bei der Bestellung war nur die Lieferung schnell und zufriedenstellend. Essen Nummer 1 wurde vergessen zu überbacken, essen Nummer 2 Pommes statt Kroketten und nur 2 Stückchen Fleisch, und das für 18€!!. Normalerweise war ich stets zu Frieden wenn wir dort gegessen haben, aber bestellen werd ich dort nie wieder.

die Auswahl an Speisen sowie Getränken ist ungewöhnlich groß, vielfältig und reichhaltig. Wir hatten Salate, Steaks und verschiedene Beilagen. Alles sehr lecker, die Steaks schön dick und gleichmäßig (in unserem Fall english) auf den Punkt gegart. Die Toiletten sind sehr sauber.

Ratskeller ???? Deutsche Küche??? Ist eher italienische von Rinderroulade hat der Koch keine Ahnung,, sollte bei Nudel bleiben , das Essen war zu gut gewürzt denke mal das der Pfeffer Streuer ihm aus der Hand gefallen ist und die Roulade war so fest als hätte man ein Stück auf dem Teller , Zwiebel Speck und Gurke mußte man suchen kam mir vor als wäre sie schon 3 Tage alt. Der Service war dagegen gut. Das Problem sehe ich darin das dies keine Deutsche Küche mehr ist wie früher vor dem Wechsel des Besitzers da ich schon als Kind dort Essen war mit meinen Eltern und nach der Wende mit meiner Familie wenn ich in Gotha bin .
