We stood in front of the doors of Bella Donna, expectant, open to a new experience, ready to immerse ourselves in the sensory impressions that this restaurant promised us. The warm lighting, the stylish interior, the auspicious name – all of this aroused anticipation, but it was suddenly curbed. Because where hospitality should be a door, we found a threshold that could not be crossed. The scene could almost serve as a parable for life itself: How often do we find ourselves in front of doors that remain closed without us knowing why? How often do we feel invited by external promises, only to realize that not every beautiful appearance also offers a home? Of course, one could dismiss this experience as a mere inconvenience. It would be easy to say: “Just another restaurant then.” But isn't it fascinating how a single moment can reveal a deeper meaning? The denied hospitality is more than a missed meal - it is a reflection on belonging, on the feeling of being welcome or not. The silence of rejection is interesting. No friendly smile, no explanation, no attempt to direct us to a different time slot or a future table. Just a curt “Not today.” These two words carry more weight than they seem. Not only do they say it isn't possible today - they also leave us with uncertainty as to whether it will even be possible at some point. They are an invisible border, a separation between those who are allowed in and those who must stay out. And so we stood there, a moment longer than necessary, as if we wanted to understand what exactly had happened here. Inside, behind the large windows, life was in full swing - conversations, laughter, the clink of cutlery on china. And we, outside, excluded from this world that others took for granted. So what remains of this experience? A visit to a restaurant that wasn't one, and yet an encounter with a principle that is deeply anchored in our society. No matter how beautiful a place is, if its doors are not open to everyone, its beauty remains an illusion. Maybe we'll return one day. Maybe then a door will be opened to us, an explanation given, an invitation extended. Or maybe Bella Donna remains for us just a symbol of all the places where we thought we would be welcome - only to find out that we are not. Because in the end, it's not the food, not the ambience, not the facade that defines a restaurant. It's the feeling it gives to its guests. And the most beautiful restaurant is worthless if it leaves people with empty hands and empty hearts.

The visit to “Bella Donna” remains an impressive memory. You quickly feel welcome in the small, family restaurant. What is noticeable is the high number of regular guests and the lack of a menu, but this should by no means be taken as a point of criticism. The starters "thinly sliced ​​eggplant" and "burrata" were both delicious. The “rigatoni with veal ragout” and the large filled vegetarian “ravioloni” with sage also tasted good. Unfortunately, the vegetarian “Strozzapreti” were a little too spicy for me personally. The "sea bream/gold bream" was exceptionally good. The "sea bream", on the other hand, was a little heartier. I found the thin “veal scaloppines” very neat. The "Tiramisu" and the "Panna Cotta" (apart from the rather extravagant sauce) were also found to be good.

First of all, the food was delicious but that didn't make the experience any better. At first I arrived there dressed normally and was greeted with the statement "There's no pizza here," so I wasn't dressed up enough in my mostly black outfit. Others there were in T-shirts... But the owner probably already knew them so that wasn't a problem for him. However, I was curious because the restaurant looks inconspicuous from the outside at first glance. So after I said I wanted to eat here I was shown to my seat. Then the waitress, the same gentleman, came and I asked for a menu. That doesn't exist (today you only have A, B, C, etc.) and that was uncomfortable for me. Not even a day ticket? So I know how much all the fun costs? But whatever, I was curious so I just ordered a dish that I liked, but it didn't make up for the experience. In my opinion the price was also too high for the service and taste. To be honest, I haven't experienced that before.

We won't be coming back. As some others have already written: the food was delicious and the ingredients are high quality. But it's still simple Italian food. And the prices are simply too expensive these days. In addition: no menu, no good verbal description of the selection, no card payment. The service wasn't unfriendly, but it wasn't hospitable either. As I said, none in summary Recommendation :(

Cucina casalinga. Everything fresh, perfectly seasoned. Minestrone with homemade broth and no tourist tomatoes. Simply grilled, perfect loup de mer. They can do vegetables! Specialties can be pre-ordered upon request. The tagliata is second to none, and the fact that there is mint jelly with the lamb fillet is like winning the lottery. The wine selection has become larger. Currently the most authentic Italian cuisine. The ballet by the owner, sons and sommelier is exciting. Experience gastronomy.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The personnel were extremely rude and impolite from the moment I walked in. This was my first visit, and it will definitely be my last. There are other Italian places around with proper customer service, so I recommend going elsewhere.

Wie immer ein Fest für die Sinne. Es ist immer schön oder spannend, was in der Küche gezaubert wird. Wir sind schon öfters im Bella Donna gewesen und sagen danach immer wieder: „herrlich war es“!

Rude staff. Menu thrown away, no napkins, cutlery forgotten, pasta overcooked… No wines on the menu except “Red/White/Rosé”… The guests are insulted in Italian…

Terribly rude staff. We wanted (among other things) a small portion & out of sheer fear that they wouldn't make enough money, we were insulted. Of course not directly in your face, but loud enough that the entire restaurant heard it. In his madness he didn't understand that he just wanted to prevent waste and didn't want any kind of price reduction. There are several Italian restaurants nearby that customers should head to!

When I read negative reviews on the internet, I'm always skeptical at first. I usually try to make up my own mind. Unfortunately, this attempt resulted in the already existing very critical assessments being absolutely confirmed. We wanted to grab a bite to eat on a Saturday lunchtime, drink a glass of wine and get to know the atmosphere. After entering the restaurant, the gentleman (the boss?, a waiter?) who greeted us was friendly and offered us a table. But we were immediately asked to eat the menu that was on offer... we didn't need a menu. When I then said that we wanted to take a look and not eat a whole menu and that my companion might only choose a "dolce", we were told that "this is a ristorante" and not a cake shop , really thrown out. This was hard to beat in terms of arrogance and impudence and far exceeded even the most negative restaurant experiences to date.

Four of us were there last night and there was no more fish at 8 p.m. and the grappa was supposedly empty at the end. It's a shame, it used to be a good Italian restaurant.

Die Begrüßung war außerordentlich freundlich und persönlich, das Ambiente im Restaurant ist sehr authentisch und sympathisch. Die Tagesgerichte wurden vom Maitre vorgestellt, wir hatten Antipasti und Fisch bestellt, alles war sehr schön angerichtet und schmeckte hervorragend. Die Zutaten waren frisch, die Aromen perfekt abgestimmt und die Präsentation der Gerichte war einfach wunderbar. Obwohl ich schon oft italienisch gegessen habe, war dies zweifellos eines der besten kulinarischen Erlebnisse, die ich je hatte. Der Service im Bella Donna war außergewöhnlich. Das Personal war äußerst aufmerksam, freundlich und professionell. Sie waren stets bereit, Empfehlungen abzugeben und auf individuelle Vorlieben einzugehen. Die Kellner waren sehr gut informiert über die Gerichte und konnten jede Frage beantworten. Der Service war schnell und effizient, ohne dabei die persönliche Note zu vernachlässigen. Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant war einladend und warmherzig. Die Einrichtung war stilvoll und elegant, aber dennoch gemütlich. Ich fühlte mich sofort wohl und entspannt. Die Hintergrundmusik sorgte für eine angenehme Stimmung, ohne dabei aufdringlich zu sein. Das Restaurant bietet sowohl Plätze im Innenbereich als auch eine charmante Außenterrasse, ideal für warme Tage. Alles in allem kann ich das Restaurant Bella Donna in Frankfurt wärmstens empfehlen. Es ist der perfekte Ort, um exzellente italienische Küche in einer angenehmen Atmosphäre zu genießen. Bella Donna, a family owned and managed place, tiny, be prepared to sit very close to each other, where simplicity is key and money is the boss. I mean money, hard money, cash money because yes, in times of transparent bookkeeping and traceability of credit cards, this place accepts the real deal, hard currency, cash, or I suspect even golden coins of the Roman empire. The kitchen itself is simple, humble, focus on few ingredients. Traditional? Yes. Home Cooking? Also. But that's where it stops. It is all quite basic and menu shows quite some dishes with "price of the day"......which makes the Pugliese cuisine in this place rather expensive, for what you get, simple ingredients, like at home.

I once read that Frankfurt's restaurants serve pasta that you can make better at home. That's this place. Underwhelming, mediocre, overpriced pasta that you can make better at home. The front of the menu says pizzeria, but they get offended if you ask about pizza as one might assume that surely a menu that says pizzeria should have pizza in it. Worst part about overpaying for below average food, is that they only accept cash. I found myself walking 3 blocks to a cash machine and back to pay the bill. Seriously?

Ein herzlicher Familienbetrieb. Sehr kleiner Gastraum und dementsprechend nur mit Reservierung. Eine Speisekarte gibt es eher nicht, man bespricht es mit dem Kellner, was es heute gibt und wie man es kombinieren möchte. Die Tische sind derart gedeckt, dass man es hier auch richtig krachen und dem Genuß freien Lauf lassen kann. Die Speisen sind durch die Bank sehr lecker und ohne Chi chi. Wir haben uns Gerichte geteilt. Die Zabaglione ist der Hammer. Das ist ganz große Küche.

Sehr überteuert, es wird keine Karte ausgeteilt, sodass die Kosten ungewiss sind, es war unverschämt, wie mit Gästen am Nachbartisch mit osteuropäischen Hintergrund umgegangen wurde.

Unglaublich leckeres Essen und sehr nettes Ambiente. Aufmerksames und zuvorkommendes Personal. Man spürt förmlich, dass hier mit Liebe und Leidenschaft das Essen zubereitet wird.

Sehr guter Italiener. Innen begrenzter Platz, also immer reservieren und Essen vom Feinsten. Frisch und lecker zubereitet mit einem Ambiente wie in Italien. Zum Abschluss ist eine Zabaglione oder ein Tartufo zu empfehlen. Sehr zentral nähe Schweizer Platz ist der "Felitsche", das Bella Donna eine Empfehlung.

Für mich ist das sehr einfaches Essen und damit meine ich wirklich banal in der Zubereitung. Die Preise sind dafür aber völlig abgehoben. Wer nach einer Karte fragt outet sich als nicht Stami. Das Ambiente mutet auch .. naja nichts was man extra erwähnen muss. Es ist nicht die Art von Schlichheit und Perfektion eines spitzen Kochs was begeistert sondern eben wirklich einfache Gerichte zu hohen Preisen. Das Restaurant ist aber gut besucht und viele Gäste sind Stammkunden. Ich persönlich kann nichts negatives über die Freundlichkeit berichten, aber die Storys die man so hört gehören wohl zur Legendenbildung (Marketing) dazu.

Wir sind seit 15 Jahren regelmäßig hier und so froh, dass wir endlich wieder das gute Essen und alles andere genießen können. Insbesondere die Pasta und der Fisch (Dorade) schmeckt uns sehr gut. Und wenn wir es dann noch schaffen, ist die Zabaione unübertroffen.

Mein Hit wenn wir in Frankfurt sind

Das Essen war sehr gut und die Bedienung unwahrscheinlich schnell. Der Teller war kaum leer, da war er auch schon weg. Das Servieren war allerdings genauso flott. Einen Stern Abzug, weil nur Barzahlung möglich. Das paßt nicht mehr in die Zeit, insbesondere nicht in einer internationalen Stadt wie Frankfurt.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, das Personal ist sehr nett.

Wenn man etwas zu feiern hat sollte man in dieses Restaurant gehen. Es ist nicht ganz billig aber es ist sehr typisch italienisch. Die Vorspeisen sind hervorragend.

Super authentisches italienisches Kleinlokal mit sehr hochwertiger Küche. Wer Lust auf Pizza hat wird hier zwar nicht auf seine Kosten kommen, da man diese vergeblich auf der Karte sucht. Ist man allerdings auf der Suche nach erstklassiger Pasta oder Fisch und Fleisch von bester Qualität und perfektem Garpunkt, dann ist man hier bestens aufgehoben. Obendrein werden hier auch eine Reihe erstklassiger Weine zu den Speisen gereicht welche preislich wirklich fair sind. Wer Lust hat sich einmal nicht den Kopf zu zerbrechen und sich stattdessen ganz in die Hände der typisch italientischen Gastgeber zu begeben wird es im Zweifel nicht bereuen.
