A wonderful evening, thank you so much. The food was delicious, the service excellent. We felt fantastic. Great hosts.

After being out and about all day, by 7:30 pm we only wanted one thing: to eat! We were greeted warmly and served quickly. We ordered two gyros and salad from the buffet. Sure, the buffet is very basic, but it's sufficient. The gyros plates were generous. I couldn't even finish everything. While it's true that, like many places in Bensersiel, it's a bit dated, it's charming and quaint. We'll definitely be back.

We simply didn't like the food. The quality was poor. The price-performance ratio was completely off.

We spontaneously went there on Monday, and what can we say? We didn't pay any attention to the reviews and wanted to see for ourselves. The verdict: We've never had such a bland, tasteless meal. We ordered gyros topped with Metaxa sauce, but what arrived resembled ready-made goulash with the consistency of a Bolognese. The fries were barely salted, the rice was bland, and the cook clearly didn't know what he was doing. No one asked for mayonnaise or ketchup, and there was no ouzo. The salad bar was haphazardly arranged, and even the freshness of the ingredients was lacking! All in all, at over €20 per meal, it was a complete tourist trap and not even worth €10! It's a shame that such a simple meal can be served so poorly. The ambiance is also outdated, and with a little motivation and skill, they could definitely improve it. Never again!!!

I was there last night. I'd barely ordered and helped myself to the salad bar when my meal arrived in less than 10 minutes. I'd ordered the Poseidon Plate for €21.90. The meat was incredibly dry and tasteless. I'd say it was pre-cooked, frozen, thawed, and then microwaved. The fries were either cooked in old oil or fried multiple times. The tzatziki was a hard lump of something. The salad bar was also disappointing, all canned. The atmosphere was more like an old, run-down pub. The unprofessional service only added to the experience. When I asked if I'd be getting an ouzo with my bill like the other guests, the waitress told me it was only offered if there were at least two people at the table. My conclusion: they're trying to make a quick buck here with minimal effort and bland, run-of-the-mill food – a rip-off.

The food was OK, and the staff was very nice. Unfortunately, at a Greek restaurant, you expect authentic gyros and authentic Metaxa sauce, not what's served there. It's a shame.

We were on a short vacation in the north a week ago and wanted to have lunch at a Greek restaurant. The owner was already standing at the entrance and practically intercepted us. Our first impression was woohoo...won't we be happy here? My gut told me to leave, but we were all hungry. With a heavy heart, we ordered two Wiener Schnitzel, one chicken schnitzel, and one baked feta. The schnitzels were deep-fried, pressed meat with liquid seasoning, just like you'd find at a discount store, and the chicken schnitzel was over-fried and inedible. All three meat dishes came to just under €20 per person. We complained about the chicken schnitzel, which was ultimately removed from the bill. My conclusion: Once and never again...and listen more to your gut feeling.

Not recommended. I prefer to give good reviews when they're justified. Unfortunately, this wasn't it, not at all. The food was so tasteless and lacking in love, and the service and decor couldn't be better rated either. We love Greek restaurants, even if they have the simplest, typical decor, the friendly, warm nature of the Greeks, and the delicious, tasty Greek cuisine, but that was definitely not the case here. NOT RECOMMENDED.

We were absolutely disappointed! A village pub atmosphere, waiters who seemed uninterested in their jobs and watched customers suspiciously (why???) while they ate, and the politeness was clearly fake. And the food was sooo abysmal! I've never had such bad gyro in my life—I mean it! Barely seasoned and bone dry. The tzatziki didn't taste like tzatziki. More like "yogurt mush, tzatziki style." And then you spend good money on such an absolute mess! Never again!

I haven't eaten this badly in decades! A typical Greek restaurant, great music, great service, everything was perfect. Four tables were occupied - the place is always packed at lunchtime. I'm now wondering if these guests are passing by or if they'll actually come back; I can't imagine the latter. The tablecloth had burn holes and was dirty. The server arrived quickly and brought the menus - there was no question about the drinks we wanted, very untypical for a restaurant. Shortly afterward, our food and drink orders were taken. We ordered two dishes: -#64: Acropolis Plate for €21.90 -#60: Pan-Fried Beef Liver for €20.50. This came with an Alster and a Pilsner. The drinks arrived quickly, but so warm that there wasn't even a crown on the beer. Any beer drinker would frown at this. There was no beer glass napkin on the glass, otherwise the waitress might have been able to distinguish the beers and place them correctly. We placed our food orders, received the food fairly quickly, and were also allowed to help ourselves to the salad "buffet." Buffet in quotation marks. Coleslaw, beets, canned corn, iceberg lettuce, onions, red beans. I think all the salads presented here were leftovers from early lunch. Along with a few dressings, which were also not tasty. The food: Fairly small portions of fries that only saw a hint of salt. My mother had the beef liver, two strips, one of which had a tendon on the edge—on the edge! Any chef should be able to see that and cut it out. Unfortunately, this chef wasn't. Accordingly, my mother chewed on it and removed the inedible pieces from her mouth. She didn't eat the second strip at all; her appetite quickly disappeared. Meanwhile, a customer at the next table was paying, complaining about his bad gyro and asking for his ouzo after the meal. Afterward, all tables received ouzo – including us. We received it at room temperature. Never in my life have I had to drink warm ouzo. Warm beer, warm ouzo... Let's move on to my dish, the Acropolis Plate. According to the menu, this consists of: meat skewer, pork fillet, minced steak, gyro, tzatziki, rice, and fries. The attached pictures indicate that something is amiss here – but I didn't realize it until I got home. You can see the skewer, the gyro, and a cevapcici? Not pork fillet, the cevapcici must represent the minced steak; anything else just doesn't make sense. But first things first: the rice was lukewarm and very swollen, the fries were the hottest thing on the plate, but very low in salt. The tzatziki... If you read what it's supposed to consist of, you'll immediately know how disappointed I was. The ready-made stuff from the discount store tastes better. To me, it was more like some kind of mush with a little spice. The taste was abysmal, matching the rest. The pork fillet wasn't even there, and the cevapcici was supposed to be a minced steak?! Perhaps the owner would like to comment on this? Is that really your minced steak?? The skewer was there and the only edible thing on this plate. The gyro... inedible. I couldn't swallow any of it. So, I ate about 15% of my meal. The rest ended up in the K3 bin. The waitress came to clear the table and asked for our opinion, which I gave free rein to. She didn't want to hear the truth and got rude. I didn't stoop to that level and demanded the bill immediately. This was apparently handed over by the owner – at least I didn't have to pay for my plate. We'll never enter this store again.

Everything's great in nice weather, but the interior is showing its age. The service and food were very good.

Never again. The food was brought to our table incorrectly after 45 minutes. The staff barely spoke German. The ambiance is quite dated. Simply put, a tourist rip-off!

We happened to pass by the restaurant on our vacation and were surprised. We were greeted with a smile, which was at least very inviting. Unfortunately, there were no seats left in the restaurant, so we had to sit outside, which we didn't like very much, as it was very windy and not very warm. The nice gentleman, presumably the owner, turned on the heaters around him for our little son so no one had to freeze...but unfortunately, after about 15 minutes, the other staff turned them off. As the place became increasingly empty, our request to sit inside was ignored or ignored. As for the food: The Metaxa casserole was good, as were the vine leaves and the tzatziki. The fries were, unfortunately, extremely salty. The staff was obviously not at all pleased about the tip; they didn't thank us or even take it. We left it on the table. Regarding the ambience: It's quite dated, but in my opinion that wouldn't be a problem IF the price was adjusted to reflect this and the food.

The interior is unfortunately very cramped. They've tried to accommodate as many seats as possible in a small space. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of privacy, and you have to accept the occasional bump into the tables as you walk past. The service was very friendly, and I was served quickly. Unfortunately, the meal, bifteki with feta, didn't impress me. It was just a large piece of minced meat. You had to hunt for the small piece of feta. Fries, rice, and tzatziki were fine. The tzatziki had to be ordered separately for my dish. The portion was really very large, barely manageable for one person. Unfortunately, there is no ouzo as a welcome drink, as is usually the case.

While waiting for service, we witnessed other guests cursing and insulting each other. The quality of the food is beyond poor. The interior design seemed to be divided between a Greek or a North German restaurant. The restrooms felt like they were transported back to the 1970s. Everyone's food is far too expensive, especially for the quality of the food. All in all, not recommended.

Really good food, super attentive service, and absolutely friendly and competent. The atmosphere is cozy, and you don't have to wait long for your food.

The best gyros in East Frisia!!

We were there in August with six people. Service was quick, but the food was completely tasteless, and the meat was absolutely tasteless—the suvaki was as hard as a shoe sole. The gyros were terrible, the skewers were fried to death. The quality was really poor, and the price was on a mission. The only explanation for the many great reviews that prompted us to visit is that all these people have never been to a real Greek restaurant. It's a shame.

The food was acceptable, but no ouzo. You sit on blue monoblock chairs (no ouzo) and can get something from the kebab-with-everything salad section. Quick tourist service, but the price-performance ratio isn't balanced, as there's no ouzo 😉

Hello everyone! We went there for dinner in August and the food was simply terrible. Unfortunately, the meat was very tough, and the side dishes like fries and rice were cold. When I asked the waiter about it, they gave me an unfriendly response. I'm sorry, but I don't recommend it at all!

The service was incredibly unfriendly and sometimes ignored you, and the food wasn't well seasoned. For example: A pot of tzatziki for 7 euros was ridiculous. All guests had to wait a very long time. The buffet salad was simply weak and tasteless. Ouzo at the end? At least that's always what you get at my local Greek restaurant. I can't recommend this place!

We had to wait over an hour for our food with a small child. They even gave other tables priority, and only after complaining did the food arrive. Very strange pricing.

"At the Greek" in Benseril – unfortunately, a prime example of how to rip off vacationers. Tzatziki with salad for a mere 7 euros extra? It almost takes away your appetite. The ambiance? Plastic garden chairs like you'd find at a hardware store, plus a carelessly placed self-service salad bar inside – feels less like "Greek flair" and more like "we save where we can." Overall, everything feels heavily geared toward walk-in customers: pop in once, leave your money, and move on. I really don't have to be on vacation for a meal like this – I can get it more comfortably and cheaply at home at the affordable Greek restaurant around the corner. The only saving grace: the waiter was okay. But that alone unfortunately doesn't make this place a worthwhile destination.

My husband had the Acropolis plate... real meat, at least, but dry and barely seasoned. A real shame, that much money...

We were there yesterday and were assigned a table without a reservation – thank you. Now for the not-so-good part: behind the counter and in the restaurant, there's a young employee who occasionally runs his hands through his hair and immediately serves food or drinks to the tables. For example, he brought our drinks to our table and immediately spilled the Coke all over the table. He left without a reaction. A member of staff noticed the incident and at least replaced the wet chair. However, the tablecloth remained wet on the table. The salad selection, with four different salads, leaves a lot to be desired considering the price range. The food – well, mediocre. The young man should also stop yawning in the restaurant – it doesn't go down well with guests. All in all: we won't be going to this restaurant again, because charging us for a spilled drink is beyond brazen. Unfortunately, very disappointing. We came here for a spontaneous dinner with two adults and two children. The good reviews, the price, and the location had given us hope for a pleasant evening. Unfortunately, that was far from the case. What we liked: The service wasn't unfriendly towards us as a family – despite the seemingly high level of stress during our arrival. What we didn't like: Quite simply – the food... We had souvlaki with fries, gyros with fries, and our children wanted chicken nuggets. Apparently, the nuggets were quite good, because they were eaten completely, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case with Greek food. I've rarely eaten souvlaki that was prepared so carelessly. Every Greek snack bar in our city does it far better – other Greek restaurants where I've eaten souvlaki do it anyway. The meat was dry, there was no tzatziki on the plate, poorly made fries, and there was half a slice of orange and a small leaf of iceberg lettuce. Plus some typical rice with tomato sauce. At least our kids liked that 👍 Next up is the dry gyro. The same picture on the plate. Unloving, not tasty. Simply a shame. Many other guests had baked dishes on their plates. That may have been the better choice. But I find it sad to deliver something like that with these two very classic dishes. The salad buffet was also very disappointing. Coleslaw with carrots, leaf lettuce, corn, red beans, and peppers. With a choice of oil, vinegar, or milk-based dressing. Of course, you could only pay with cash or debit card. Which fits the dated ambiance. I would have gladly paid almost €80 for dinner somewhere else. It feels like the idea here is to milk the tourists who usually come once and then never again. That applies to us too. Once and never again. What a shame.

Dry meat with no real flavor... no salt on the fries, and the salad bar was also very sparsely stocked... This restaurant has nothing to do with Greek food. Recommended for guests with undemanding taste...

The gyro lacked flavor, the fries were well-fried and (with a little more salt) also very tasty, the rice was OK, the fillet steak and the meat skewer were too dry and underseasoned, the tzatziki was more like quark with cucumber and had little flavor (the garlic was somehow missing). The salad from the buffet was OK, but there wasn't much choice (no cucumbers, no tomatoes, no pereroni), and you had to use a lot of dressing to get a hint of Greek, which you realized too late. Conclusion: If you like Greek food, you'll be rather disappointed here. But ultimately quite OK.

Ordered takeaway. You have to get your own salad from the buffet. Unfortunately, none of it was particularly tasty. Especially from a Greek restaurant, you expect super-tasty homemade coleslaw. The coleslaw with carrots didn't taste good. Otherwise, there was grated carrots, which were quite dry, onions, iceberg lettuce, and kidney beans. No cucumbers, bean salad, or tomatoes. The gyro was super dry and chopped. The tzatziki tasted more like quark, and there was a small bag of mayo. 20 euros for that? I wouldn't order it again. The Poseidon plate costs the same. The meat was okay. But I expected better for the price. The fries were a tiny portion. I didn't feel welcome. We wouldn't eat there again or order food there. It's not worth it.

Hi, we went to "Beim Griechen" again today. We've been here several times, the last time in the summer, last year. I have to say, it's almost always good. We had the Acropolis plate. For starters, anyone can have a plate with coleslaw, pepperoni, and olives. The meat was tender and juicy as always, well seasoned. The fries weren't as salty as in other restaurants, which was perfect for my taste. Unfortunately, there was no ouzo to finish this time, but an espresso, which wasn't quite to my taste. Today, June 21, 2025, we went to "Beim Griechen" again after two years. So, I've downgraded everything by one star in my review. You can compare the prices on the bills. Sure, everything has gotten more expensive, but two years ago, the portions were larger and the food was better seasoned. Otherwise, the food was okay. There was no ouzo or espresso after the meal, as is the case at any good Greek restaurant. The service wasn't particularly enthusiastic either. Last time, we were greeted warmly with a 😃, but today we felt like a necessary evil. The ambiance could also use a major renovation. Next time, we'll try Zeus in Esens; we won't be eating there again.

Almost everything was perfect. You had to put together your own salad at the buffet and pick it up. The salad consisted (perhaps only on that day) of iceberg lettuce and a bit of coleslaw. There was nothing else... The main course was very tasty.

The service was friendly, but otherwise: We had a gyro plate and a gyro senior plate. The fries and tzatziki were okay, but the gyro was lukewarm, very dry to the point of being hard, and certainly not freshly cut from the skewer, but rather had been left sitting for a long time and kept lukewarm – absolutely disappointing, and that at a price of €19.90 for the regular gyro and €17.50 for the gyro senior plate. The salad bar was manageable: coleslaw, iceberg lettuce, beetroot, onion, and red beans. The drink prices: €4.90 for a 0.4L Coke, I find completely excessive. We certainly won't be returning – even the house espresso in a plastic cup (egg cup) can't make up for that – we were very disappointed.

We had a gyro plate. The gyro was cold, dry, unseasoned, and flaky. The fries were unseasoned, cold, and soggy. The salad buffet left a lot to be desired. No tomatoes, peppers, or cucumber... Ouzo wasn't served. Very unsatisfied and not recommended.

Grillteller - das Fleisch war sehr trocken Hacksteak - vorgefertigt Geschmacklich - man konnte es Essen Wir gehen gerne zum Griechen, aber hier wird nicht viel Wert auf Qualität gelegt. Preis / Leistung passt nicht .

If you like Greek cuisine, this is the place to be. Authentic, nothing over the top. The staff is super friendly, attentive, and nice.

Reserved recommendation for a visit to the Greek restaurant For many, an evening in a Greek restaurant is associated with anticipation of warm hospitality, spicy specialties and Mediterranean flair. It was all the more regrettable that my last visit unfortunately could not meet these expectations. The meat, which usually plays a central role in Greek dishes, unfortunately seemed quite dry and not very aromatic. It lacked juiciness and the typical spice that is otherwise associated with this cuisine. It seemed like it was overcooked or not made fresh enough. The side salad was also rather simple. The composition was quite simple (no tomatoes, cucumbers and olives). A creative dressing with labeling would certainly have made a difference and given it more character overall. A small detail that was also noticeable at the end of the visit: Unfortunately, we were not offered the ouzo as a final gesture that is common in many Greek restaurants. This is of course not a must, but it would have given the evening a personal touch and set a hospitable accent. All in all, the visit was unfortunately not as good as one would have hoped. With a little more care in the preparation and attention in the service, this restaurant could definitely develop its potential. Overall grade for us is 2.5 out of 5

Absolutely fantastic, exceptional hosts. I stayed seated outside. The heaters were turned on immediately. I have NEVER eaten such good gyros and fries. IN MANY RESTAURANTS, things have been over-seasoned for years - WAY TOO MUCH SALT, too much FAT, additives, etc. That's why I rarely eat out anymore. HERE IN THE RESTAURANT AT GRIECHEN, ALTER SIELWEG 19, IN BENSERSIEL, everything is perfectly balanced. MY DOG WAS IMMEDIATELY CARE OF, TREATS WAS GIVEN, AFTER CONSULTATION WITH ME. SO THIS PLACE NOW SLIDES TO PLACE 1 FOR ME. AICHANS TAVERNE IN HEMSLOH SLID TO SECOND PLACE. AICHAN DON'T WORRY I'LL STAY FAITHFUL TO YOU. Yummy. Friendly. Top Update 05/01/25 It was better! Gyros cold and dry. We have addressed it. Unfortunately that was dismissed with the weather. Liver plate was average - fried onions were stewed. That's ok, but then please call it that. The “salad buffet” was very manageable. And because we criticized the gyros, there was unfortunately no farewell ouzo. It's a shame we used to be here so often.

I do not recommend visiting this restaurant! Unfortunately I have to correct my review: Can I pay by card? YES.... Unfortunately no..... Takeaway is possible, but you shouldn't get in the way with a child. Then you are asked outside under the heater but with ouzo. Salad was subpar on a run-of-the-mill salad bar with coleslaw, iceberg lettuce, beetroot, pepperoni and beans... Unfortunately no, unfortunately not again. We were so happy

We had nothing to complain about. Food was tasty and sufficient. Inventory has been the same for years. But has charm. Like almost everywhere else in town, only EC cards or cash are possible. No Visa or Debit.

Super delicious food and the service was great. The atmosphere is really nice, unfortunately the place is a bit small, but that makes it cozy. When the weather is nice, the terrace invites you to sit and eat. Little tip: book a table in advance 😀

Fine food, very good starters, hospitable service

Let's start with the positive: - Staff quick and friendly - There was a chocolate Easter bunny from Lindt on the bill. - The waitress is very knowledgeable about allergens. Mediocre: - constantly being asked if everything is okay. - the ambience, very small Lokas, everything very narrow and loud. Bad: - the food! Gyros arrived just lukewarm, the rice was cold. The meat was dry and the taste was reminiscent of a bad chip shop. The rice tasted like a ready meal. - Price-performance

We were there on Easter Sunday. The food was cold. We were not told that we were only allowed to use the table for one hour. We were told that we could move to the neighbor's house because we would talk anyway. That doesn't work at all! Very unfriendly! Everything is designed for tourism...we won't eat there anymore!!!

The food in the “Beim Griechen” restaurant was very tasty. The waitress met us at the door and assigned us a table. The drinks order was taken quickly. After choosing our food, we were allowed to have a salad at the small salad buffet. The buffet could be a bit more generous. A few cucumbers/tomatoes would certainly be nice. The food came for us as a family at the same time and as ordered. The dishes were all very tasty. The portions are also very large for the children's meals (we are talking about 4 and 7 years old)

We were there for the first time. The service was courteous, the food was more than sufficient, unfortunately the gyros were only lukewarm and far too dry.

If you are on vacation in Bensersiel, the restaurant is worth a visit, nice service and good food.

Unfortunately my visit here was a disappointment. The Spezi was no longer carbonated, which severely affected the taste. The fries were inedible - soggy and completely tasteless. The gyros casserole was far too runny that it was barely recognizable as a dish. Also, the pieces of meat were way too small, which ruined the whole texture and taste. Overall a very disappointing experience. I won't eat here anymore.
