Bei Oma Kleinmann in Köln

Very busy on a Saturday night. We didn’t book but got a table within an hour. Food was great ! And very filling. The pour on sauces were very rich and tasty, perhaps a little salty.

If I could give it 6 stars, I would. Simply amazing! All the staff are super friendly and helpful. If you want to eat here, you should definitely reserve a table. By 5 p.m. it's already full. But it's definitely worth waiting a bit until a table becomes available. The portions are huge. All dishes are also available as small portions. Small portions are considered normal portions in other restaurants. The price/performance ratio is justified. I would gladly come back anytime.

A MUST for everyone who comes to Cologne, super tasty, very friendly service and very cozy.

Great German restaurant in Cologne, a hidden gem and definitely one to visit, we were the only non Germans in there but the servers English was fanatasic and they took the time to explain the menu (menu is also avaliable in English). I had the veal Budapest, and it was massive value for money is well up there but it's also really tasty. We got there later in the evening 2000, had to wait maybe 10 minutes for a table but it's worth every second

The schnitzels are nice and thin and fried crispy all over. The whole thing as a set meal with salad and fried potatoes, which is how I had it, was simply amazing. The service was also incredibly friendly and prompt. I'll definitely go there again on my next visit to Cologne.

Without a reservation, you'll have to expect a bit of a wait (1-2 hours), but it's definitely worth it. A huge portion of schnitzel, and absolutely delicious! Truly worth every cent!

No es agradable ver cómo se desperdician los alimentos. Vi muchos platos a medio terminar y aunque tengo cuidado con el desperdicio de alimentos, no pude terminarlo tan bien : ( Podría deberse al sabor intenso del aceite frito del schnitzel, pero aún así el tamaño debe ser re-considerado... El servicio no está bien, ya que el número de trabajadores no es suficiente para tantos clientes. Los bevereges son servidos por un solo camarero que parece bastante enojado, pero probablemente debido a la gran carga de trabajo.

It is a typical German food place. The dishes are very filling and the schnitzel are huge and delicious. They are all accompanied by a salad starter. It is very full of people (especially natives), we wait to have dinner at the tables outside. We waited about 25 minutes to eat outside, given that we had to wait approx. 2 hours. Nice service. The chocolate mousse is very fine and delicious. It seems made at the moment. Highly recommended.

Good typical German meals. Good portions, which you may not be able to finish. Everything we had was well cooked. Reasonable waiting times. There is an outdoor terrace, under a cover and with electric heaters to keep you warm. We have been treated with friendly professionalism. There was a lot of competition, mostly local.

Best shop, best schnitzel. Thank goodness in small portions too. When we still lived in Veedel, we ate there 2-3 times a month or even just drank a beer. They also have a good selection of wine, which is rare in pubs. Even if you really should make a reservation: with a little patience you can almost always get a place for two. The staff is friendly, and if you don't finish your huge portions, the rest is packed away. We also recommend the carnival parties there - really Cologne-style and with a very good atmosphere.

Not only the best schnitzel in Köln, but so far one of the best we ever tried. We had the pork and the cheese one (Im vegetarian). They have a wide variety of schnitzel and vegetarian options. Local beer is 10/10

Great location with a colorful crowd and super-tasty schnitzels. It's great that everything is organic and there is also an option for vegetarians.

Oh, finally back after 15 years. I hardly recognized it anymore, but when I bit into the schnitzel the memories came back. This time I was there alone and ate my schnitzel with potato and cucumber salad at the counter. Best decision ever. It was incredibly fun and entertaining with the bar staff and I ended up being really sad to leave. I'll be back. And this time not for 15 years!

We ordered two schnitzels, Viennese and Balkan style, and a plate of salad came first. There are 2 large schnitzels in each serving. It reminded me of Edirne leaf liver, probably because we don't know the taste of the original from eating chicken schnitzel in Turkey. It would be better not to go without a reservation, we sat at the tables outside without a reservation, but there too you are waiting for someone to get up and there is no queue or initiative of the restaurant staff, the place is left to the person who grabs it. If you go with 4 people, when you order two schnitzels, everyone gets one piece, the pieces are big. They call the beer Kölnsch, they bring it in a 20cl glass, it is eaten as soon as it is finished, unless you say stop.

If Grandma Kleinmann knew what had become of her pub, she would turn in her grave. Here someone has bought a name that they don't deserve. My pastured veal schnitzel was brown and dry. The service is bitchy. The service idea here includes explaining to the guest what he has to do. The result is an over-the-top schnitzel joint. Too bad.

Particular place with lots of photos of the old owner... very good. You can eat delicious cutlets and the prices are also correct. I recommend it. The very kind staff

After a bit of a wait for two people, we got a table on Tuesday evening. Celery schnitzel lumberjack style was very tasty and the service was extremely friendly! I'd love to come back :)

Everything is fine here. Well organized and very tasty. The Kölsch is running. The only thing that is annoying is the cold draft on your legs when the door is left open for a long time.

Got here at 5pm on Saturday just as they opened and managed to get seats at the bar. It's a very busy place and people were soon waiting for seats. The staff were great and very accommodating (despite our limited German)- we had the Budapest and the Olaf Maria schnitzel (pictured) both of which were delicious and huge. Finished the meal off which some plum schnapps, which was perfect to keep the cold away! First time visiting Cologne and would highly recommend.

Good day everybody, We've been going to Grandma Kleinmann's 2 or 3 times for 38 years, but yesterday was awesome, it was 1° outside and we had to wait outside without an appointment (it's impossible to make an appointment over the phone, no one gets there and on the website in 3 to 4 months) We got a table until 7 p.m., just sat down and in 10 minutes 3 good-looking middle-aged women arrived, so we had to leave the table and wait at the counter until a table became available, which is why we (perhaps the only foreigners) were there more than half without an appointment, Then of course our popular restaurant will leave forever... At Oma Kleinmann's is a rustic pub in the heart of Cologne. Hospitality is very important here. The staff is warm and the food is absolutely excellent.

A great place to spend your lunch or dinner! The staff were kind and attentive, the decoration inside is really cool and authentic. The portions… wow, they are huge. You’re most probably not going to be able to finish it! It’s delicious, and of course you can pack the leftovers with you.

If you’re in Köln, Bei Oma Kleinmann is an absolute must! The Wienerschnitzel here is unmatched and one of the best I’ve had in Germany (and I’ve had a lot 😅). The warm, cozy atmosphere makes you feel like you’re dining at your grandmother’s table, and the service is friendly and attentive despite how busy it gets. A word of advice: reserve your table early—this place is always packed, and for good reason!

Habe sehr viel von OMA K. gehört und dann sind wir mal dort hin..... wollten uns mal verwöhnen lassen. ABER UNGENÜGEND WÄRE NOCH GELOBT!!! Also in den verschiedensten Restaurants eingekehrt und nicht einmal zuvor, so enttäuscht von dem Wiener Schnitzel. War in 2 Teilen, größe eines Pfannekuchens und HAUCHDÜNN! Bei genauerer "Untersuchung ne panierte Scheibe Schinken (so dünn), oder nur gebratene und gekürzte Panade. Nicht nur bei mir, sondern auch bei meiner Freundin. Sind beide fest entschlossen, NIE WIEDER OMA K.

There's not much to say: rustic, old-fashioned and somehow typically Kölsch. The schnitzels are simply great, I can't say anything more about them. This is the Cologne from 1995, which is still a bit alive, I like it!

The name says it all: rustic, familiar atmosphere and warm, attentive service staff. The six of us shared the schnitzel variation. It was definitely way too much food 😅 also because the schnitzel portions were huge. The taste is great, both pork and veal, as well as celery and cheese. Be sure to make a reservation, it was packed!!

Quaint, rustic, delicious and yet keeping up with the times - not everyone can do that! But with Grandma Kleinmann it's true! The five of us shared a schnitzel variation and there was something for everyone. Vegetarians have also been thought of with two large “cheese rags”, and even vegans can choose a celery schnitzel. Five delicious sauces bring variety and the two huge bowls of fries and fried potatoes did the rest to almost make us surrender. But only almost... The many pictures on the walls and the wallpaper are a nice homage to old times, the service is very nice and quick! All in all a great experience in Cologne!

Locale piacevole, con personale attento e gentile, vasta scelta di piatti tipici della tradizione tedesca. Lingue parlate e utilizzate nel menu: inglese e tedesco. La carne, in qualsiasi ricetta, è molto tenera e servita con patate arrosto, a fettine che si sciolgono in bocca.

I was just eating there. A rustic atmosphere, nice service and delicious Westfalen Schnitzel, veal with a small salad and fries €33.90. We felt completely comfortable. We parked on Engelbert Str. Parking garage is also good and the walk to the restaurant is 4 minutes.

Maybe it is one of the Best Schnitzels ever. They prepare many kinds of sauces to enjoy the food. The restaurant is near the party zone. I recommend the Oma Vero... If you love a spicy food.

Grandma Kleinmann can not only make schnitzel, but also goose! The goose menu with goose consommé, breast and leg, classic side dishes, homemade apple compote and baked apple was perfectly coordinated and very, very tasty. As always, the service was extremely friendly and requests for changes were fulfilled without any problems. We are already looking forward to our next visit with you, Grandma Kleinmann!

Portions are for 2 people. They already bring 2 pieces of sinitzel per portion. If you are not the only person, it would definitely be better to share. Portion prices are around 30-35 euros.

Great schnitzel and fried potatoes based on an old Cologne recipe. What I particularly like is that the sauces are separate and can then be combined if different ones were ordered Clock-like atmosphere with old pictures as wallpaper on the wall. Worth a visit or you won't stay there afterwards

Great food! I had the veal schnitzel and I have to say that it was one of the tastiest schnitzels I have ever eaten. The portion size was also great. Unfortunately the shop is quite small and very popular. That's why it's hard to get a table.

Amazing place with so much food on your plate ! Be prepared to head back home rolling on your full belly and with a doggy bag in hand because the schnitzels are here for a fight. Loved them so much, but as a French person it's the first time I've been beaten by a gigantic piece of cheese that was served with a delicious sauce. I will come back here the next time I'm close by because the place was so so good 💜

An absolutely succulent breaded escalope in a very warm environment. Be careful, the children's menu contains a large escalope while the adult menu contains double. I opted for the children's menu and it was more than sufficient.

If you like schnitzel, this is the place for you. Only the peanut sauce doesn't really taste good. 2 hours of time for a leisurely meal is far too short. With all understanding, wanting to reserve the table twice in the evening. But if you have to wait an hour for your food, then 30 minutes is far too short to eat. But you can really recommend the restaurant with a clear conscience and we will definitely come back again. Reservations make sense! Unless you get there early and are already queuing outside before it opens.

Unfortunately, Grandma Kleinmann has degenerated into a tourist restaurant. Too bad. I can remember 25 years ago very well. Well, there shouldn't be any blame. I don't go there anymore.

I ordered schnitzel, but I don't think it was. But it was so delicious. The combination with roasted vegetables took away the greasiness for a week.
