The food is super delicious (although we only had 3 schnitzels), good portions, and reasonable value for money. Service was nice, but sometimes seemed overwhelmed and unfortunately took a veeeery long time. When we called, they said they didn't take reservations and we should just drop in. When we arrived, the first question they asked was whether we had a reservation. The outside was full, but that wasn't a problem for us; we like sitting inside. So, if you're not sure, it might be best to call ahead.

I've been there three times, and twice I got food I didn't order. I ate it anyway because I didn't want it thrown away. Despite everything, it was delicious; the waiters just need to be a bit more attentive.

We ordered and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience. On one slice of the delivered pizza, there were numerous small white dots that clearly looked like fly eggs. I called the restaurant directly to report it. The initial response was unhelpful – they asked me if I was sure it wasn't spices or sauce. This seemed more like an attempt to downplay the issue than to take it seriously. They did offer to send me a new pizza, but by that point, we'd already lost our appetite – something like that simply ruins your entire evening. I asked for both pizzas to be returned, which meant they had to consult with HR. When the delivery person finally arrived and we showed him the affected pizza again, he also claimed that it wasn't eggs. We had paid €29.30 for the order and added €35 ​​with a tip. In the end, we only got €28 back. The tip is for the driver; we didn't expect it back. However, we didn't get the full price refunded. I'll post another picture of the affected pizza here – then everyone can see for themselves and judge whether it was really "just sauce" or something else. Mistakes can happen – no one is immune. But how they're handled makes all the difference. And in this case, we felt neither taken seriously nor treated well. Very disappointing.

I can really highly recommend this restaurant. The prices are perfectly reasonable, the food arrived very quickly, and the staff were extremely friendly. I accidentally ordered the wrong thing, but they immediately brought me a replacement without a second thought, even though it was my fault... I'm very grateful for that and will definitely recommend the restaurant!

I was there three days ago and ate a steak. While eating, I noticed a strange aftertaste halfway through the steak. Not two minutes later, my friend suddenly said the same thing. I've had stomach problems ever since. Rotten meat? I don't know... But nothing good.

I think the restaurant has a very nice and cozy decor. The staff is also super friendly and attentive. The place was packed, but the drinks and food still arrived in a short time. 10/10, I highly recommend it❤️❤️

I like coming here to enjoy the chicken curry with rice – it's very tasty and the portion is generous. The house lemonade is served in a "Weck" glass, which I find impractical. As a drinking vessel, it only partially serves its purpose – it's more reminiscent of a flower vase. Drinking with the straw requires almost acrobatic skills. My suggestion: Maybe use a classic glass instead. The side salad was varied and contained many vegetables. Unfortunately, the dressing spoiled the overall impression. It tasted more like sweet sugar water – presumably a honey-mustard dressing was intended, but unfortunately, the execution was not successful.

Waited 15 minutes, 4 waiters apparently had no time, very rude

The workers were extremely unprofessional. We sat there for 15-20 minutes without anyone coming to serve us. Instead of being served, we were just given suspicious looks. After we wanted to leave and said goodbye because no one was serving us, we didn't get a response from any of the four workers.

I'm really disappointed. Today I ordered pasta (again) - according to the menu it should only have chicken and onions. Instead, I got a completely different dish: the noodles looked like a Chinese mix plate, with ingredients that are NOT on the menu at all. LEEK!!, HUGE LONG pieces of onion, everything was floating in some kind of broth - it was more of a soup than a pasta dish. The smell was extremely onion-like and anything but appetizing. And honestly – what kind of person puts leeks in pasta?! Unfortunately, it's not the first time I've had such an experience. Every time there are ingredients that are NOT on the menu. But what makes me particularly angry: It is an absolute no-go to add ingredients to a dish that are not listed on the menu. This can be life-threatening for people with allergies or intolerances. For example, if someone has a severe leek allergy and doesn't notice that there is leek in the pasta, this can have serious health consequences - just because the kitchen doesn't stick to its own menu. According to the Food Information Regulation (LMIV) – Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011, Articles 9 and 21, ALL ingredients used, especially potential allergens, must be clearly and comprehensibly stated. That's just not possible - especially if you consciously don't want to eat certain things. This was the last order for me today. Too bad!

I'm satisfied so far, but the narrowness when sitting and the arrangement of tables and chairs are too tight in the front area for me personally and whoever sits in the front has booked a fireworks display with the noise backdrop. Coffee machines, cash registers, telephones - even when ordering by phone - it's so inconvenient, as it's always busy, which is really what we want and appreciate. The food is very good and the prices, well, have increased enormously.

We had a class reunion at Basilico. The service was friendly, welcoming, and really on point. The food was wonderful, especially the pizzas. We'd love to come back.

One point deducted for the fact that we had to wait 20 minutes despite having a reservation and in the end we had to ask for the menu ourselves and the second point deducted for the fact that I didn't get what I ordered. Unfortunately, my partner and I couldn't enjoy our meal together because the real dish had to be prepared again. We are disappointed with this poor service even though the food itself was really delicious.

The restaurant was already busy that evening. Nevertheless, four of us were first brought to a table for two, then left standing there, then to a table for four. After we already had the menus and actually wanted to order, we had to move again and now waited at another table. Food was good, drinks took a long time to arrive, as did the service in the follow-up order. It's a shame.

Perfect location for our little celebration! We held our little celebration in the Basilico yesterday and couldn't have imagined it being more beautiful! The breakfast buffet was excellent - a large selection of fresh and delicious food. We particularly liked the cozy atmosphere in the small side room, which was just right for our group. The staff was warm, attentive and always concerned about our well-being. Our guests and we felt completely at home. Thank you for this wonderful morning – we would love to come back!

Given the prices on the menu, I thought it was a fair price for the food. When the food was brought out fairly quickly, I was blown away by the portion size. In addition, it also tasted absolutely excellent. Absolute recommendation.

Last week (02/12/25) I was there for breakfast once, which didn't really interest me Blown away. The rolls were pretty black (on top) but not yet fully baked. The tea bags were lying open and mixed up in a wooden box, the sausage wasn't the best choice and the orange juice was too thin. Maybe I just had a bad day, otherwise I would like a little more quality for the breakfast. Everything else was okay for €10 per person. Greetings to the nice waitress and the service was great.

No lie, this is one of the best restaurants in Giessen. There is something for everyone here. No matter if you are a meat lover or a vegetarian. Everyone is guaranteed to find something delicious to eat here. I always enjoy coming here and have never had much to complain about. Warning: the portions are huge and therefore expensive, but since you can take the food home with you, I think the price is quite good. The service is always polite and good. The space is also good and you can always find a place, no matter how crowded it is. And you never have to wait very long for your food. If it's your birthday you even get a free cocktail🍹. Is only recommended❣️

Love their food. From the Schnitzel to the pizzas. Make sure you book a table if you’re planning on going Friday - Sunday. It’s popular and crowded because of their variety, prices and friendly staff. If you don’t speak German, don’t worry, they’ll speak English and even Portuguese. There’s no parking, so plan in advance where you’ll park your car.

We were there for breakfast recently with 4 people. I had crutches and it was very difficult to get through and the waitress saw it and didn't do anything 😕. In general it was tasty, although the selection was limited but there was enough.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was beautiful, and I had the best whiskey sour of my life. Unfortunately there was a small mistake with my order - instead of potato wedges I got fries. Even though I reported this, the potato wedges arrived quite late. The bartender offered me a coffee on the house as compensation, which I gladly accepted. Overall I give it 5 stars because the quality, atmosphere and drinks were really top!

Brunch was delicious, but the coffee was unfortunately cold. Plates weren't cleared for ages, but otherwise everything was fine. The room was full and therefore quite loud.

The cocktails are well mixed. The empty plates haven't been cleared away for 40 minutes. It takes 30 minutes until you are served. The food tastes good. The staff has no idea about allergies and you have to ask explicitly until you get an answer. Make sure the food is prepared correctly!!!

More waitresses than guests on site, but you still had to wait forever for everything.

Food perfect, staff but very strange. Aloof, they talk to you unfriendly, mostly Turkish, and they look at you as if you were poor or some are treated like second class. I really liked it here but wouldn't want to eat there again. Oh, the music is also very annoying when you listen to advertising in between and it stops every 3-4 minutes, just a tip🫶🏽

We quite enjoy going here. The selection is really extensive, which is not always an advantage. All the dishes are tasty, but none are particularly good. I would absolutely advise against ordering aioli, which was basically just mayo with a clove of garlic running past it. Addendum: we tried these stupid Dubai crepes and were extremely disappointed... stay away from that stuff. Then you'd rather have an apple strudel for half the money.

We ate here today as a family, on Christmas Day, including the baby. There was a large selection of food, the portions were very large and very tasty. But most of all I was impressed by the service. I was immediately offered by a member of staff that she could look after my daughter while I ate. She repeatedly emphasized that she wanted me to be able to eat in peace, but was never pushy. In fact, we consumed it over the course of the meal. She looked after the little one very lovingly and the rest of the staff adapted so that you didn't notice that anyone was missing (in terms of speed, friendliness, etc.). All of the employees made this meal special for everyone. We'll definitely be back 😊

Hervorzuheben sind die Bedienungen, freundlich und aufmerksam. Das wars dann aber. Das Essen ist nicht der Rede wert. Die „Lende Madagaskar“ war total totgebraten und war eher wie kleine Schnitzelchen geschnitten. Und ob es auch die angegebenen 250 Gramm hatte ist auch fraglich. Die nicht genießbare Sosse war mit Sicherheit aus der Tüte… Der „traditionelle Flammkuchen“ kam ohne Schmand daher, sah lieblos aus. War auch nicht der Brüller. Gegenüber beim großen M wäre das Geld besser angelegt gewesen.

The restaurant was large and All in all quite good. The taste of the Food has improved significantly, and everything tasted very fresh. Unfortunately the service was very poor inattentive. The drinks were brought very late and no one asked if everything was OK or if we would like something more to drink. In addition The empty plates were only delivered after 15 Minutes cleared. Despite the service issues, I would Recommend restaurant because of the food really convinced!

Good selection, fresh eggs, fruit, warm bites etc and even filter coffee included. It's in no way inferior to buffets that are more than twice as expensive 😉 Our little daughter didn't have to pay anything. We'll be back!

The pizzas are really to die for. The staff very nice. At the end we felt a bit forgotten. We will come back, just for the pizza 😍 The toilets are also a bit old and the ladies' tap wasn't really easy to use.

Today we had breakfast there. Breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired. Sausages and cheeses, fruit, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fresh rolls, small meatballs, cakes. Buffet price including coffee, tea, orange juice. Price-performance ratio is great. Service staff very friendly. Reservations are advisable on weekends.

Compared to non-salads, the salads are on the small side, especially for the price point. I had a Salat Gießen, which is a regular green salad with steak bits. The steak bits were tough and well well done. The salad had way too much dressing. Acoustics are kinda bad inside.

Nice restaurant, very tasty food. Unfortunately, the service staff were not 100% focused during our visit and seemed to be overloaded. We were met, our reservation checked and taken to the square. Unfortunately for the wrong one. Then our reservation was looked for again by the second service person, only to find out after looking for the name that we were sitting in the wrong seat. This was quickly clarified and we were able to order. Unfortunately, when we brought the cutlery we were only given one instead of two and the service didn't notice this. Not even when we got our food. We only got this when we asked. The food was delicious and the homemade iced tea is recommended.
