Given the prices on the menu, I thought it was a fair price for the food. When the food was brought out fairly quickly, I was blown away by the portion size. In addition, it also tasted absolutely excellent. Absolute recommendation.

The rooms are nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly. We were there at lunchtime and it was too restless for me.

I can happily and with a clear conscience recommend the “Basilico” to anyone who wants to eat well. Very tasty and a good price-performance ratio. I would ideally like to give 5 stars, but unfortunately that's not possible. Unfortunately, I have to deduct 1 star. Last week (02/12/25) I was there for breakfast once, which didn't really interest me Blown away. The rolls were pretty black (on top) but not yet fully baked. The tea bags were lying open and mixed up in a wooden box, the sausage wasn't the best choice and the orange juice was too thin. Maybe I just had a bad day, otherwise I would like a little more quality for the breakfast. Everything else was okay for €10 per person. Greetings to the nice waitress and the service was great.

No lie, this is one of the best restaurants in Giessen. There is something for everyone here. No matter if you are a meat lover or a vegetarian. Everyone is guaranteed to find something delicious to eat here. I always enjoy coming here and have never had much to complain about. Warning: the portions are huge and therefore expensive, but since you can take the food home with you, I think the price is quite good. The service is always polite and good. The space is also good and you can always find a place, no matter how crowded it is. And you never have to wait very long for your food. If it's your birthday you even get a free cocktail🍹. Is only recommended❣️

We are always pleasantly surprised by the food. Mega tasty and large portions. Even though it was almost full, they always made an effort to ensure we got a seat.

Love their food. From the Schnitzel to the pizzas. Make sure you book a table if you’re planning on going Friday - Sunday. It’s popular and crowded because of their variety, prices and friendly staff. If you don’t speak German, don’t worry, they’ll speak English and even Portuguese. There’s no parking, so plan in advance where you’ll park your car.

We were there for breakfast recently with 4 people. I had crutches and it was very difficult to get through and the waitress saw it and didn't do anything 😕. In general it was tasty, although the selection was limited but there was enough.

Delicious food and large portions. For me, the fries weren't completely cooked through, but the chicken schnitzel was delicious. There is a large selection there.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was beautiful, and I had the best whiskey sour of my life. Unfortunately there was a small mistake with my order - instead of potato wedges I got fries. Even though I reported this, the potato wedges arrived quite late. The bartender offered me a coffee on the house as compensation, which I gladly accepted. Overall I give it 5 stars because the quality, atmosphere and drinks were really top!

Brunch was delicious, but the coffee was unfortunately cold. Plates weren't cleared for ages, but otherwise everything was fine. The room was full and therefore quite loud.

The cocktails are well mixed. The empty plates haven't been cleared away for 40 minutes. It takes 30 minutes until you are served. The food tastes good. The staff has no idea about allergies and you have to ask explicitly until you get an answer. Make sure the food is prepared correctly!!!

More waitresses than guests on site, but you still had to wait forever for everything.

Food perfect, staff but very strange. Aloof, they talk to you unfriendly, mostly Turkish, and they look at you as if you were poor or some are treated like second class. I really liked it here but wouldn't want to eat there again. Oh, the music is also very annoying when you listen to advertising in between and it stops every 3-4 minutes, just a tip🫶🏽

We quite enjoy going here. The selection is really extensive, which is not always an advantage. All the dishes are tasty, but none are particularly good. I would absolutely advise against ordering aioli, which was basically just mayo with a clove of garlic running past it. Addendum: we tried these stupid Dubai crepes and were extremely disappointed... stay away from that stuff. Then you'd rather have an apple strudel for half the money.

We ate here today as a family, on Christmas Day, including the baby. There was a large selection of food, the portions were very large and very tasty. But most of all I was impressed by the service. I was immediately offered by a member of staff that she could look after my daughter while I ate. She repeatedly emphasized that she wanted me to be able to eat in peace, but was never pushy. In fact, we consumed it over the course of the meal. She looked after the little one very lovingly and the rest of the staff adapted so that you didn't notice that anyone was missing (in terms of speed, friendliness, etc.). All of the employees made this meal special for everyone. We'll definitely be back 😊

Hervorzuheben sind die Bedienungen, freundlich und aufmerksam. Das wars dann aber. Das Essen ist nicht der Rede wert. Die „Lende Madagaskar“ war total totgebraten und war eher wie kleine Schnitzelchen geschnitten. Und ob es auch die angegebenen 250 Gramm hatte ist auch fraglich. Die nicht genießbare Sosse war mit Sicherheit aus der Tüte… Der „traditionelle Flammkuchen“ kam ohne Schmand daher, sah lieblos aus. War auch nicht der Brüller. Gegenüber beim großen M wäre das Geld besser angelegt gewesen.

The restaurant was large and All in all quite good. The taste of the Food has improved significantly, and everything tasted very fresh. Unfortunately the service was very poor inattentive. The drinks were brought very late and no one asked if everything was OK or if we would like something more to drink. In addition The empty plates were only delivered after 15 Minutes cleared. Despite the service issues, I would Recommend restaurant because of the food really convinced!

We were there for the breakfast buffet on a weekday for €10 per person. P. I was very pleasantly surprised at the price. Good selection, fresh eggs, fruit, warm bites etc and even filter coffee included. It's in no way inferior to buffets that are more than twice as expensive 😉 Our little daughter didn't have to pay anything. We'll be back!

The pizzas are really to die for. The staff very nice. At the end we felt a bit forgotten. We will come back, just for the pizza 😍 The toilets are also a bit old and the ladies' tap wasn't really easy to use.

Order food, especially fries, to pick up - better not! You'll get the fries absolutely soaking wet. So employees who work in the kitchen should actually know: putting hot fries in a bowl is a NO GO. Pizza was ok but unfortunately already cold.. :/

Today we had breakfast there. Breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired. Sausages and cheeses, fruit, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fresh rolls, small meatballs, cakes. Buffet price including coffee, tea, orange juice. Price-performance ratio is great. Service staff very friendly. Reservations are advisable on weekends.

Compared to non-salads, the salads are on the small side, especially for the price point. I had a Salat Gießen, which is a regular green salad with steak bits. The steak bits were tough and well well done. The salad had way too much dressing. Acoustics are kinda bad inside.

Perfect overall package. Everything was right, taste, ambience, portions, service… everything was great!

Nice restaurant, very tasty food. Unfortunately, the service staff were not 100% focused during our visit and seemed to be overloaded. We were met, our reservation checked and taken to the square. Unfortunately for the wrong one. Then our reservation was looked for again by the second service person, only to find out after looking for the name that we were sitting in the wrong seat. This was quickly clarified and we were able to order. Unfortunately, when we brought the cutlery we were only given one instead of two and the service didn't notice this. Not even when we got our food. We only got this when we asked. The food was delicious and the homemade iced tea is recommended.

Edit: Unfortunately there is only breakfast as a buffet. Of course the price is cheap, but the selection and quality were also better. Refilling the coffee also takes a bit of time....all in all it's lessened. I liked the previous breakfast options better...but there are also worse options for breakfast. No longer unbeatable at breakfast...in terms of price and quality...conditional recommendation.

I enjoy eating here. The food usually tastes very good. The selection of vegan dishes is large. You should reserve in advance as it is often full.

We used to enjoy going to the Basilico often. The prices have now become quite high, although the quality has not changed. My “macaroni” was penne pasta (and this was the second time). Because the room is quite small and it was quite full, it was very loud. The service was very inattentive and we had to keep drawing attention to ourselves.

But hello, you can say that. We found the restaurant by chance and already quite full, but we were assigned a nice seat and the food was only the finest. Then bus again next year when we are back in Giessen.

Good evening, So far my experiences with eating on site have been very positive. Today I ordered food to pick up for the first time. And I have to say that I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied. Starting with the noodles, which were carelessly prepared and lacked any taste. We continue with the falafel burger, which I received was soggy and extremely unappetizing. The box was full of condensation and fat, which is why the side dish was unfortunately not edible. So unfortunately I have to say that picking up food is not recommended - especially not for €40. Kind regards

The food is okay - the menu isn't too bloated and there are daily specials (Monday = pizza day etc.). You can sit inside or outside and the service is great! The drinks menu is also varied, including homemade lemonades. We were missing pepper and salt at the table but that wasn't a problem.

Shortly decided to go have breakfast. Simply great and great price for €9.90 breakfast buffet with everything you want. Simply great and highly recommended 😁

Sorry, but the food isn't worth more than one point. Rarely have we eaten such a bad meal, literally everything about the meal was bad and of the cheapest quality.

Unfortunately the staff speaks very poor German. This makes communication on the phone difficult.

I can only warmly recommend the Basilico kebab shop! The kebabs are simply fantastic – fresh, tasty and perfectly seasoned. You can tell that the work here is done with a lot of love and passion. A very special highlight is the waitress Lily! Not only is she incredibly friendly and attentive, but she also makes you feel at home straight away. Her recommendations are always gold, and she has a great sense of what guests need. If you're looking for great food and great service, be sure to stop by Basilico! Have ordered food. Waited almost 2 hours. Food was cold and the wrong thing was delivered. I called and complained. The waitress just said yes, that's wrong, we just have a lot of orders.

Need to update my rating from 4 stars to 1 star. The food is tasty, portions are large. One of the better, more modern restaurants in Giessen. However, my complaint was not addressed at all because my pizza was really inedible. I was just told that other guests hadn't complained. What kind of argument is this???

Great foot with a satisfactory portions. Atmosphere is cool but a little crowded. Unfortunately there is no park place, which makes things very hard if you want to come by car.

The two of us went to the Basilico today. Our service was super nice and accommodating, so 5/5 stars. As a starter we had bruschetta with Parma ham and Parmesan, the bread could have been a little more toasted and the garlic could have been stronger. However, that is complaining at a high level and the starter was very tasty. The side salads were delicious, very sweet, but still harmonious. Mine had a bit too much salad dressing in the bowl. My friend ate the Schnitzel Ecem with sweet potato fries. The sourcream was delicious, nice and sour and well balanced with herbs, just as it should be. The schnitzel itself was also delicious, but unfortunately because it is relatively "packed" with the shrimp, the fried egg and the tomato-garlic sauce, the schnitzel itself has little or no taste of its own and is drowned out. I had the schnitzel broccoli with hollandaise sauce and cheese. Very tasty, lots of cheese on the schnitzel (but that's ok, I like that). The sauce tasted homemade and the broccoli still had some bite. So I really liked it. The portions were super big, so I couldn't finish everything and in retrospect we would have preferred to leave out the starter. Another bonus is that our food was cheaper on Tuesdays thanks to the schnitzel promotion. All in all, we will come again to gain more experience.

Food is usually very good. I always stopped by regularly and always left happy. Otherwise we always sat further “back” in the restaurant, further away from the counter. But today we sat further up front. There wasn't much going on. I noticed several times how the "head waiter" complained loudly about the customers and cursed about the addition of a portion of fries to the order and made fun of the guests with other waiters... Only in Italian. In this case, thank God I don't look like an Italian... but I am one. People also complained about my order (which wasn't strange in any way). I'll refrain from quoting the exact words... As I was clearing away the “head waiter” smiled in my face and asked if it was tasty. I can't understand how often this happens, but I know the employees from my previous regular visits to the restaurant. Food is great. But that was our last time.

Once upon a time there was a cozy atmosphere and a great breakfast buffet. Not anymore. Breakfast buffet was replaced by a selection of 'breakfast plates' to order from. Oppressive atmosphere, unfriendly and arrogant staff. The two of us came at 11 and got a ticket. And waited. 15 minutes later a group came to the next table and also received the card. We were not spoken to by the waiter and continued to wait. After another 10 minutes we had enough and went into the tower. THIS is really recommended. So anyone who likes to be an ignored supplicant as a guest will definitely feel at home in the Basilico. If you like hospitality and want to be treated courteously... well... you should go somewhere else.

Beautiful welcome, very fast service, very good food

Despite the holiday, we immediately got a table outside. The waiter came to our table quickly and took the order. After we ordered, it only took about 20 minutes and we had these very filling meals (we took the leftovers with us) at the table. Very tasty and we were very surprised at the quality. Plates are preheated and it is noted that the pan is very hot. Summary: 1a
