We arrived late and were given a nice welcome by the innkeeper, there was a pleasant atmosphere and we received a well-poured Guinness.

Cozy pub, cool cider! But the waiter was rude and unprofessional. There were two of us there and the first comment was that we were too drunk to be served. We weren't drunk… after a short discussion in English we were served.

We enjoyed the friendliness of the staff/restaurant owners and the relaxed time there. A little Ireland in Cologne.

This is a great place to go for a relaxing few drinks away from the main square but close enough to walk there and to the riverside within minutes. Charlie and The Staff are brilliant and can't do enough to make you welcome. I would recommend everyone visits here at least once as you won't be disappointed.

It was my first time in this pub. The atmosphere was as a pub should be. I immediately felt at home, it was rustic, loud and full. But everyone was very friendly and the staff was great too! Great pub, I would definitely visit again!

Very cozy and authentic pub. I particularly liked the beer combination "Snake-Bite". The music matched the ambience. My friend and I tried all the beers and all the shots and then stumbled out after a wonderful evening.

Pub and bar around this part of the city on a cold and rainy December night we decided to drop into Barney Valley's Irish Pub ,been here many times over the years, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. I love the look of this pub, interior is superb, a cool looking island style serving bar dominates the main room,big screens to enjoy the sport ,pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub ,its just a really good pub to unwind in. We were greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we ordered pints of Gilden kölsch beer ,these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and took in the great pub we were in. A big fan of the various kölsch beers served in this vibrant city on the River Rhine and Gilden kölsch is one of the best ,a golden, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold, after finishing our lagers we decided to have a guinness each, poured in the correct manner even allowing time for the all important settle, the guinness served in here is as good as it gets in Cologne, dark,smooth, creamy and most importantly iced cold, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world. We both really enjoyed our time in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Barney Valley's Irish Pub is easy to locate along Kleine Budengaße. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from 11am. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Ich finde es ist echt ein cooler laden. Ich war hier mit meiner Freundin und ein paar freunden es ist wirklich ein laden für jeder man ich bin so positiv überrascht es wir viel englisch gesprochen was auch mega cool ist und einfach mal was anderes als sonst echt toll kommen gerne wieder!!!!

Me and my twin brother were visiting a few of the site's around this brilliant area when we decided to have a few beer's in Barney Vallely's'an excellent Irish pub that offers a superb range of well priced drinks. This superb Irish pub has a lived in interior with many interesting fixtures and features and superb seating options throughout it's whole interior and brilliant staff who are as pleasant as can be. When we visited here this brilliant Irish pub was just starting to get busy as they where showing live sport.On our visit to this place we had a few pints of Guinness which were superb and where really well priced for an Irish pub of this quality. Barney Vallely is a superb Irish pub thats in a brilliant area of Cologne and is without a doubt one of the friendliest pubs we visited and well worth visiting and very easy to get to from Rathaus tram/u-bahn stops it's only a minute's walk to Kleine Budengasse were Barney Vallely's is located. Lovely little bar in the centre of town. Reasonably orices drinks with 3 screens showing 3 different matches in Champions League. Staff were very nice.

The bartender didn't seem cool with a bunch of us, even though the bar was pretty empty. There were about 10 of us trying to grab a drink, but he was super rude. In the end, he straight up said no to serving us. I don't get why he's so against a group. Maybe racist attitude?

Great place. The owner was very friendly. It was busy, but this guy managed to make everyone feel welcome, was pouring drinks, greeting people, cleaning up tables, taking payments. He is super proficient. He's owned the place for 26 years if I recall correctly.

Amazing service. I was in the mood for whisky, but not in the mood to choose. I asked the bartender, Lucas, to pick me a whisky and he then asked me if I had eaten dinner already. I thought he was wanting to see if I wanted a food menu, but he was actually asking to better pair the whisky based on what I had recently eaten. Was not expecting that. Very knowledgeable about whisky and great service. If you are in Köln stop by for some good whisky.

Visited Barney’s on our trip in cologne to watch the commencement of the rugby World Cup, the service was fantastic, the atmosphere was amazing and everyone just got on really well and 4 pints of some of the best chilled Guinness I’ve had in someone time for less than €20 is phenomenal! A must visit.

Kein Essen, dafür eine übersichtliche aber vielseitige Getränkekarte mit WIRKLICH fairen Preisen und TOP Bedienung. Viele Muttersprachler, Rugby und englischer Fußball, gute Musik und tolle Pub Atmosphäre. Freuen uns auf den nächsten Besuch.

Went here to wash down the revolting kebab we had, spitting distance from the hotel and one of the few bars open last midnight this side of town on a weeknight. Met with a warm welcome, spoke butchered German to each other and got Zwei Guinness bitte. As we were waiting there was a stag group in there who were sat in a group of five that became ten that became fifteen and at that point the manager told them to go away. It takes some confidence to tell a clearly intoxicated group with priors to leave, but the way they behaved on the way out shows just how right he was to get rid of them. Frankfurt is largely ruined by stags in small pockets, much like Krakow, Budapest and other European cities the best man books it with no thought or knowing where is actually good to go so they gravitate to these bars and feel like they can smash everything and fix nothing. A nice Guinness though, lovely service (for us) and fun to see the same distaste for poorly behaved, embarrassing stags abroad is pretty consistent. Would go again.

Refused entry due to the size of our party, and from my own experience in the Irish bar industry, we were singled out in case we were "trouble" - we have supported this bar every year for the last 6 years during GamesCom as our "go to" bar for our crew (there were 8 of us) and are saddened by the sudden assumption (and therefore assertion) that the bar neither wants nor needs our business. We won't bother spending anything there in future.

Can't comment on the food, but the kolsch flowed freely, the matches were on in steady rotation, and the bartender is fantastic. A ceiling full of tickets from football matches past, currency from visitors, and everything that could give it charm and character. Just be sure to carry cash on you, just in case! Update, August 2023: They do take credit cards, but you need to hit a total of €25 minimum, so… bring cash anyway, unless you’re buying a round.

Netter Pub mit guter Live Musik. Ob die Musikerin direkt neben der Eingangstür eingepfercht in der Ecke besonders gut aufgehoben war, würde ich in Frage stellen wollen. Besonders bei regem Durchgangsverkehr und Gebrabbel an der Theke, fände ich den hinteren (ruhigeren) Teil des Raumes als Bühne eventuell schöner. ❤️ Insgesamt aber nice.
