BAR SHUKA Restaurant & Bar in Frankfurt am Main

I'm disappointed:🤯😳 At first glance it looks stylish and cozy but the food is of poor quality and is mostly prepared by people who don't come from the catering industry at all, i.e. hired guns who have actually trained as chefs and are actually very good at their craft, they're just administrative. As far as the service and barista staff are concerned, I can only shake my head. Hardly anyone has any idea about the job, they've picked up a few things here and there, don't even know the technical terms, let alone technical terms, and here too there are only one or maximum three who are trained Refa, but are under the yoke of the aggressive so-called bar manager who thinks it's his territory/his place!🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🙈 I'm disappointed that many people suffer from mental illness and also take medication and still consume alcohol and other stimulants. I really don't want to explain what goes on in the kitchen, including the sink. Some employees start drinking alcohol in the morning, even while they're working. This makes them very inflexible. In any case, my conclusion is more than disappointing, and I recommend booking! 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🙈😳🤯👎👎👎

Great food, great service and very nice ambience

We came here for dinner. The restaurant is very stylishly decorated, with a lovely courtyard for warmer days. The food was delicious, and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. However, the price is too high for the portion and the type of ingredients, and depending on the main course you choose, you unfortunately won't be full. As a result, I won't be back.

We had lunch there with a larger group and were more than just disappointed. Although the restaurant was not very busy, we had to wait about 50 minutes for the food. In the meantime we have already paid €4 for 200 ml of cola, which is almost exorbitant, especially since the menu doesn't say that these are mini bottles. But the food topped it. The portions don't even qualify as an appropriate appetizer. 19€ for 3 small chicken pieces and a handful of salad. 10€ for three loveless falafel balls with a splash of tahini and a small bread. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is more than just inadequate.

This time I went for a lunchtime business lunch and it was terrible. Main menu was not available due to understaffing. Very small lunch menu available, very poorly cooked. Deep fried chicken that was completely over fried and bones were hard. The falafel was fried for far too long. Completely unloving, most of it, just cold dishes and the main course of eggs mixed with tomatoes, nothing special. Five people for this terrible meal without drinks €175. Pure rip off. At lunchtime, this shop would never see me again, nor would the other business partners who were there. There are plenty of other restaurants in Frankfurt that are much better positioned at lunchtime. Any Lebanese takeaway is significantly better at a third of the price

A special kind of culinary experience – Bar Shuka impresses across the board! As soon as I entered Bar Shuka, I was impressed by the unique atmosphere. The interior is modern but with a warm, lively atmosphere that immediately creates a feeling of arrival. The open kitchen creates closeness and allows you to really become part of the action - you can feel the passion and energy of the team just by watching. The menu is a creative love letter to Levantine cuisine, with sophisticated interpretations of traditional dishes. I would particularly like to highlight the selection of mezze - every single dish was a little work of art. The combination of fresh ingredients, strong spices and surprising flavors absolutely thrilled me. The Sabich, an Israeli street food dish with eggplant, egg and Amba sauce, was a taste highlight. The main course – for me the Shuka Chicken – was also perfectly cooked and wonderfully seasoned. Plus a glass of naturally cloudy wine, which the friendly service staff recommended with a lot of expertise - an excellent choice! In general, the service was extremely attentive, warm and very competent. You don't feel like a guest, but like a friend who has been invited to dinner. The selection of desserts rounded off the evening perfectly. The creamy labneh with honey and pistachios was light, sweet and a perfect end to a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Conclusion: Bar Shuka is more than just a restaurant – it is a place where food is celebrated. Creative cuisine, great atmosphere and a friendly team make the visit an experience that you won't quickly forget. I’ll definitely be back – and I’ll bring friends with me next time!

this one waitress/bartending girl was extremely rude & unfriendly. we just wanted to enjoy my friend’s birthday, we sat outside the restaurant on the bar side, away from the crowd. I’ve made my friend a cake and while I was showing it to her and we were taking pics of it, and spoke some congratulations, the bartender immediately came up to us and said “sorry, you need to put this away, we’re a restaurant??!” in the bitchiest manner. We totally understand if we’re not supposed to eat/drink food from outside but the manner of speaking and the attitude was so awful, why are you working in service if you hate people??! We’ve done this many times already and never had a problem- on the contrary, waiters were extra nice. A little “hello”, “congrats”, sincere “sorry” and respect towards people isn’t really that hard, I work in service myself. Please quit your job before you ruin more special nights. :/

Aperitif tasteless & watered down. (Frankfurt Spritz & Hugo) Main course (aubergine) totally unseasoned, bland, without a filling side dish for a whopping €20. Price performance not good because it's quite expensive and unfortunately tasteless Special in my eyes. Maybe we ordered the wrong things. The hummus and pita were delicious. Ambiance was hectic and uncomfortable. The positive thing about the short-term reservation option was that we had a nice place and it was clean. But I would rather not come again.

Spontaneously decided to have something to eat there in the evening. I got a table straight away without a reservation. I was alone, so no art even though it was very busy for a Thursday evening. Unfortunately I didn't get the nicest spot in a passageway in front of a refrigerated table, but I just wanted to eat something. As always, the food was delicious, beautifully presented and the service was friendly and attentive. Wasn't the first and definitely not the last time here.

Food is great, really tasty but portions are small. €18 for a single spear of chicken with some roasted onions and a great chipotle-aioli. Really tasty but yeah, walking out of a restaurant hungry but spending money for a whole meal isn't a nice thing. Staff and atmosphere are nice.

Cool shop! But far too expensive even for Frankfurt. Hatte einen Hähnchen-Spieß, dazu kalte Röstzwiebeln und Chili Mayo für 18€. It's a shame to sell this as a main course, no one gets enough of it. Drinks were fine though.

I had breakfast in the restaurant today and overall I was very satisfied. The buffet offered a great selection: In addition to fresh scrambled eggs, croissants, coffee, tea and orange juice, there were also special dishes such as French toast, which I particularly enjoyed. The service was very nice and friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. A small downside were the rolls, which I found a bit too hard. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the next few days to try even more from the varied menu

We made a resevation and once we arrive were told straight away " Your table is ONLY till 8.00" not even a warm Welcome... Atmospehere was OK but somehow strange . Food was the biggest downfall. Beside the Hummus everything else was blend no LOVE just but together on a plate. Fish Taco what a disapointment overcooked no seasonning and that for 21 Euro very sad. I have no idea what happen to the Mahi Zafroni...Overcooked tastless Safran Rice with Dry Overcooked Mahi what a desaster. The ising on the cake was the answer we got when we ask for Vodka ... not sure if that was trendy or what but I am definatly would not recommend this place. Even a quick look at the Bar had a unfriendly feeling with a short but harsh answer " We ONLY open at 7.30 " OK thanks ... Well maybe my expectations were to high , evertime I passed by it was packed with people so I presumed a good place to Eat & Drink . Well maybe Drinks , but the Food is definatly questinable.

A really nice shop. Very nice service. The food was great, the kitchen put some thought into it. You enjoy every bite. I don't find the somewhat noisy backdrop, which I complain about, to be a nuisance. On the contrary, it has a relaxing effect. Very high praise and a plus point, when I later mentioned my cinnamon allergy in the dessert, which I was able to ask about myself beforehand, they apologized and the dessert was taken off the bill. Respect. We'll definitely be back

The restaurant is very large and the atmosphere is pleasant. The service is OK. I noticed that the staff was a bit stressed. sorry!, I didn't like the location of the restaurant. The menu is not very extensive, but the dish I ordered was very tasty. Those in the kitchen get all the stars.

Bar Shuka is absolutely recommended! Pleasant atmosphere, super friendly staff and great service make the visit a real experience. The food was fantastic, especially the warm hummus and falafel are outstanding. I was particularly impressed by the large vegan selection. I would definitely like to come back!

The food was very tasty! Unfortunately, we, as well as the tables next to us, found the menu a bit confusing. Right at the beginning we were told that we had reserved the table for 2 hours. I didn't notice this when I made the reservation. We were actually informed after 1 hour 45 that we should leave the table soon. The food tastes very good, the atmosphere is great. We will come back, but the high prices are only for special occasions :)

Anyone who would step in Israel once could tell that these are not Israeli dishes. We payed 60 Euro per person as a fix price. We were served with 3 plates per 5 people. It was so small that all of us stayed hungry. A plate with 4 Falafels for 5 people its a joke and they were frozen inside. 1 Stick of chicken for 5 to share? What is this joke? The hummus tastes like canned one. Desert of 1 Icecream scoop for 5? Its not even a spoon per person. Also the services was extremely slow and not nice. Not a single smile from staff. Worst experience I could imagine.

Food was delicious. Great selection of food. Pictures of the dishes on Google maps are outdated and are no longer offered in this form. Still a large selection of cards at higher prices. Food is freshly prepared in an open kitchen. Unfortunately, the falafel was very dry. There wasn't enough bread served with the hummus. Service was really top. Big praise to the friendly and attentive staff. There is even a service robot that comes to clear the dishes. Unfortunately you have to leave the table after 2 hours for new guests. Restaurant is a bit overhyped. Ambience not suitable for comfortable sitting and relaxed chatting as it is very loud and the seating options are not really comfortable (table wobbles, among other things). Card payment possible.

Bar Shuka offers oriental fusion cuisine, excellently flavoured and very attractively presented. We followed the recommendation of our friendly waiter and ordered several starters and main courses as a sharing dinner and tried our way through the menu. Everything was really delicious. My personal highlight was the grilled romaine lettuce with tahini dressing. Yummy! The restaurant is super stylish and trendy, so you should definitely make a reservation if you want to have dinner there. As it's always full, it's also loud and lively, but that's exactly what you're looking for on a night out in Frankfurt's nightlife district around the main railway station, isn’t it? After dinner, you can enjoy excellent cocktails in the bar area, if you don't want to move on. The inner courtyard is very popular in summer. And one last note: Bar Shuka may not be located in the most beautiful part of Frankfurt, but the Bahnhofsviertel is just as much a part of the city's identity as the skyscrapers of the banks and the Apfelwein pubs in Sachsenhausen. The contrasts are what make the city on the river Main so special.

Very popular, very crowded, very hyped - but it didn't convince us. The starter was very good, especially the hummus, but there wasn't enough bread so we had to order more (charged extra). Unfortunately, neither of us liked the main courses and we also found two hairs in the food, which we reported to the service. Unfortunately, the service wasn't particularly friendly, we had a total of 3 waiters and didn't feel particularly welcome. Unfortunately, you can't have a good conversation because of the high volume in the restaurant. Price-performance wasn't right for us.

The restaurant was very busy and there seemed to be a few office groups dining there that evening as well. Despite the number of people, the service was great! Servers were attentive and orders were fulfilled in good time. Food was excellent in quality and quantity and I cannot rate this place any less than five stars.

Bar Shuka has been one of our favorite restaurants in Frankfurt for years. We’ve dined here many times and introduced numerous friends and family to the place, always appreciating the great atmosphere and consistently delicious food. However, during our last visit, we noticed the menu had changed significantly, and unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy it. While the dishes have become more economical, it seems this was achieved by removing key ingredients, altering the flavors that made them special. The dishes we used to love just aren’t the same anymore, and we didn’t find any of our usual favorites as enjoyable. Sadly, this change means we likely won’t be returning. It’s disappointing to see one of our go-to spots lose the quality that kept us coming back. We hope to see the old Bar Shuka return someday.

It's surprising that it says "Israeli food", it should say "Palestinian food".

Was there with my colleagues. The gentleman took our drinks order on one half of the table first, then the other half. The other half got their drinks first, and our part of the table had to wait an extra 5 minutes. Not the best, but fine. It was a bit busy, so no big problem. Then the gentleman brought my colleagues' G&Ts while forgot my virgin G&T. When I mentioned this to him, his response was NOT "Oh, I am sorry, I will get it to you ASAP", but "Wait. You need to wait. If you don't like it, you can do it yourself". For this reason I will never ever go back to this place and spend my own money there. Which is a shame, because the food is amazing.

We had our company Christmas party at "Bar Shuka". To eat: The food was delicious and there were many vegetarian options. Ambiance: Visually, I found the establishment very appealing and stylishly furnished, unfortunately the music was far too loud for me and you had to speak very loudly and be able to hear the person sitting next to you. I can definitely recommend Bar Shuka as a group establishment. Service: The service staff were always friendly and had a smile on their faces at all times, no matter how difficult the customers became.

Very bad experience on Saturday evening. The bar at the back needs a lot more seating, especially if you sell cocktails. After ordering 3 drinks, a few seats became available at the bar, but the boy behind the bar did not allow us to sit here. "Reserviert" was the message. Really? I have never experienced that if you want to sit at the bar you have to reserve the stool. Certainly not if you have just ordered 3 cocktails for 15 euros each. The nightlife in Frankfurt is already a difficult place to go out, but these kinds of actions don't make it any easier. What egos that start a discussion....

The atmosphere and ambience are the only redeeming features here, earning them a single star. The music was decent, and the restaurant is nicely decorated. However, the service was truly disappointing. The waiter seemed unwelcoming, giving us unpleasant looks. Our drinks were poorly timed – the beer arrived much later, long after we had already started on our wine. To make matters worse, the food was served haphazardly and portions were so small it’s as if they couldn’t get supplies in and we were left starving in the end. For the quality of the food, which was average at best, the prices were unjustifiably high. Two stars seem fair overall.

Food and Service are exceptional, we had a great time! Atmosphere depends on what you're looking for, as it can get loud. We loved it as it wasn't as stiff and people seemd to be enjoying themselves properly. Will be coing back

Comida israelí en un lugar cerca de la estación de tren. Las porciones están bien, y se puede pedir una variedad de mezze y entrantes y tener una cena muy llena y variada. Éramos un grupo de cuatro, y pedimos ampliamente en esa parte del menú, con dos platos principales, todos servidos juntos. Estábamos contentos y muy llenos. Las calles inmediatas alrededor del restaurante están bien, pero la ubicación limita con la zona de "lomo" de Frankfurt, el Bahnhofsviertel. Por lo tanto, si se aloja en el área central / distrito de negocios, puede tomar el metro a la estación de tren y caminar hasta el restaurante, o puede caminar por esa zona en particular.

I recently had breakfast at the Shuka bar in Frankfurt, very close to the main train station. The price-performance ratio is okay given the central location, even if some prices are quite high. The interior design immediately appealed to me: modern and stylish, with an open kitchen that gives an insight into how the dishes are prepared. There is enough space at the table and the chairs are comfortable - perfect for a relaxed start to the day. Unfortunately, the food didn't entirely convince me. The flavor of the dish I ordered was too intense and monotonous, making it difficult to enjoy the taste after a while. However, I would like to highlight the falafel positively: the three small falafel for €6 were the best I have ever tried. They were excellently seasoned and tasted really fantastic. However, I find €2 per falafel relatively expensive, especially for a fairly normal size. In summary: A nice atmosphere and comfortable seating with great staff. The taste is good, but the price is on the higher side.

Incredible long wait to get an overpriced meal (ONE HOUR AND THIRTY MINUTES). Worst service I’ve ever seen in my life, the waiter was extremely rude, disrespectful and unprofessional making sarcastic remarks when asked about our food. Not even the slightest gesture of apology, nor a simple excuse for the wait. Unacceptable. Come here if you like to starve yourself and be treated badly by people who don’t know how to work on service.

Bad food for a lot of money. Boring, stale pita. Boring Zatar. Over fried falafel. Yogurt good. Atmosphere, scenery ok. 6 falafel balls, zatar, pita and two apple spritzers - €45, oh well. . . All drinks were out, no matter what we wanted to order. We then took what was offered to us. Service was ok but nothing special. Price for lunch is unfortunately typically FFM high and there is no need to mention good things.

The worst restaurant experience in my life. I had never seen such a horrible, rude, unpleasant staff like this one. The hosts, waiters, tenders, all of them with the worst attitude ever, to the point that one of them attacked me phisically, pushed me, i fell in my back in the sidewalk while he was completely out of control. Álvaro is his name. It was unnacceptable to see him working the next day because they had "no replacement". David, the owner apologized sincerily but the demeanor stayed the same.

Bar Shuka (restaurant) was really a great experience. In the backyard it was pleasantly cool, quiet, and the atmosphere was simply great. The service was friendly and the draft beer was refreshing and tasty. The real highlight at Shuka is of course the food. Here too we were not disappointed. The falafel are crispy, but soft and not dry on the inside. The hummus tastes outstanding, and the fresh pita bread is out of this world. I would especially recommend the buttery chicken skewers to everyone - simply sensational!

Very nice restaurant around the central station! We took off an international flight and managed to reach the central station at 8 am. Then we found this lovely place for the breakfast, while most the restaurants in the neighborhood were closed. The food here was well cooked and delicious. It literally saved our day.

Worth a trip! This was the second time we had breakfast at Bar Shuka in Frankfurt and we were completely satisfied. Very friendly people bring freshly prepared food that is really tasty. This is pleasingly different from the familiar buffet monotony in the hotel. When do you ever eat hummus for breakfast? Here, with courteous advice and friendly service. The next time you visit Frankfurt, head to 25hours The Trip just for breakfast. Update: In June 2024 it finally worked: dinner at Bar Shuka. Just as good as in the morning. Everything can stay that way.

Oriental fusion cuisine meets it, very original, friendly, uncomplicated service meets open, authentic cuisine that calmly responds to requests for changes. Ambience simple and open, interesting courtyard. Unfortunately also in the train station district, with the drug scene right on the doorstep.

Nice reception and if there is space, you can also spontaneously sit in the backyard. Quite an interesting map, which is certainly not one of the clearest ones - but it makes it all the more interesting. Tel Aviv Mule is highly recommended, the lemonade is rather ok and nothing special (especially for the price). The dishes are limited in quantity but very tasty and well seasoned. The dessert, which is served on the table to match the name, is also delicious. Overall recommended. Even if we are in Frankfurt, I would carefully increase prices further, as it is already well priced.

A busy place on Friday evening. You should have finished eating inside by 10 p.m.: the DJ turns it up, the first people are dancing on the tables... You don't notice it as much in the inner courtyard and in the back area. Good wine! Good service.

Overrated! Price-performance ratio is absolutely not right.

Great food, great selection and not too big. Room has flair and is relaxing. Only service has zero interest and zero desire, you can see and feel it. It's a shame for that
