Ban Thai is an outstanding restaurant. I have never eaten such authentic Thai cuisine in Germany. The papaya salad is particularly recommended. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants! The ambience and the friendly staff also contribute to a successful meal. 5 stars!

The dishes are an interpretation of Thai cuisine. Too salty with an aftertaste that could have been baking soda. The cocktails are an expensive joke. They consist of a glass filled with ice with a background drink. Disappointed .

Picked up the food. Main course (fried vegetables in oyster sauce with chicken) was inedible. Rice was a sticky lump. Vegetables were overcooked to the max. Glass noodle salad was good. Spring rolls were good too.

Pretty good overall. The dishes were quite good for a more than reasonable price. However, they are not really spicy, even if described as such. The service was rather average with an impatient server. The atmosphere was good but there was a strong smell from the kitchen and it was a bit heavy in the room. I still recommend eating for lunch because of the good prices and hearty dishes.

Everything was great, but I wasn't familiar with these "deep" seats at the small tables and only realized after I put my feet under them that there was a hole for my feet.

I visited this store today and unfortunately I have to say that it doesn't suit my taste or that of my companion either. The starters (chicken skewers and beef skewers) were hardly seasoned, the sauces for the starters were very diluted and not really tender, but rather bland. The main courses were poorly seasoned and unappetizing. The chicken in the dishes was only cooked and barely or not at all fried. All in all, I won't visit this store again. The prices take some getting used to and tend to be too high for what you get. Nevertheless, tastes are different and I ask everyone to convince themselves of this.

Wir sind spontan zum Mittagessen hier gewesen. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und unsere Extrawünsche für die Kleinen waren auch kein Problem. Die Speisen sind wirklich gut.

We waited for 20 mins in the garden area and no one attended us. I spoke to a guy at the bar and told him that we are waiting for someone to take order. Still no one came and then we just walked out to another restaurant. The place was not even that full for the waiters to be super busy to just take our order.

I recently visited the Thai restaurant “Ban Thai” in Darmstadt and have to say that in my opinion it is the best Thai restaurant in the city. I've been a regular for some time and have already tried various curry dishes. Each one was a complete delight and always impressed me with its taste. The flavors are beautifully balanced and the freshness of the ingredients can be clearly tasted. We also particularly recommend the Thai iced tea, which is perfectly prepared here with its refreshing note and is a highlight every time. The ambience of “Ban Thai” is another reason why I always like to come here. The interior is lovingly and traditionally Thai, giving the restaurant a cozy and authentic atmosphere. I would particularly like to highlight the seat recesses, which offer a great alternative to conventional tables and chairs. They are perfect for smaller groups of up to four people and create an intimate, relaxed seating area that I personally really appreciate. Another plus point is the excellent service. The staff are always extremely friendly and attentive without seeming intrusive. They ensure that you as a guest feel completely comfortable and contribute significantly to the pleasant atmosphere. The location of the “Ban Thai” in downtown Darmstadt is also ideal. The restaurant is easily accessible and is ideal for a visit after a stroll through the city or a day at work. All of these factors together make Ban Thai an outstanding place for me to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Prices different than on the menu

Unfortunately that was nothing! Beer and water more lukewarm than really cold. The supposedly crispy duck turned wobbly in the sauce, as did some of the mushrooms. The beef dish with beans was completely lacking (tasteless and the meat was tough as a shoe sole). Despite returning one dish, we had to pay for everything in full, and there was at least a verbal apology. We won't be coming back.

Don't order a salad!!!!!!!!!! You get soup with coriander flavor. I waited 45 minutes for a salad that wasn't even good??!?!?!!!?!?!

Wir waren am Donnerstag da ( 01.08.24) Seitdem geht mir schlecht. Ich habe Durchfall fühle mich nicht gut . Das Essen haben wir gleich bemerkt das es überhaupt nicht frisch war ( Reis , Curry ) Der Reis war so zusammen geklebt , matschig, und hat man geschmeckt das es von mindestens Vortag war. Curry war auch nicht besonders und hat alles irgendwie nach Alt geschmeckt. Wir waren zum erstmal da , und wollten wir nicht gleich was sagen . Vor allem wir werden sowieso nie wieder hin .

Terrible, terrible food. No idea why this place has such good reviews. Avoid it and go somewhere else - I struggled to finish my plate because it was so bad, really shocking a place like this is in business for so long.

Good Thai cuisine in Darmstadt, fresh and delicious! Unfortunately we showed up without a reservation and were therefore only able to stay for a limited time, without dessert or cocktails, which looked delicious. Next time be sure to book a table in advance 😉

The food was super tasty and we both enjoyed it. The portions are very large, we almost didn't finish them. The ambience is special and the service is excellent. Had a great time there. And that's the case every time.

When we walked into the shop, we were greeted very nicely by the staff and taken to our table. The little woman with short hair was very nice and professional and gave us advice according to our taste. The food was very tasty and warm. Exactly how we wanted it. Now complaining is at a high level. You can replace the cutlery so that it cuts again. I will definitely come again. You can only recommend it.

Big fan of Ban Thai! Authentic meals and there's even space where you can sit at a lower set table without wearing your shoes. We enjoyed shrimp crackers and vegetarian spring rolls to split and I had the pad see ew. Everything was well prepared and service was very kind.

Mostly on a week day, it is not so crowded after 13:30 but making reservation is highly recommended. This is the nearest Thai restaurant to us so we have to accept it.

Consistent quality for years. Sometimes it is quite crowded on the weekend, but sometimes it is manageable. The service and the boss have always been very nice. As far as cleanliness is concerned, we have not yet had any cause for criticism. The only thing that really needs to be renovated are the toilets. I think the portions are reasonable for the price and consistently tasty. The main courses are also good (I can recommend duck in every variation). Price performance is 100% right here.

Visit on February 24th, 2024, around 1 p.m. Good quality food in a well-kept, attractive atmosphere with friendly staff at very moderate prices. Cheap lunch menu also on Saturday. Rice could have been a little warmer, but otherwise great. Staff very quick. Meaty main course in an extremely filling portion size for 12 euros. Soft drink (0.4 L) for a reasonable €3.80.

Firstly, even if it is shown to be wheelchair accessible, unfortunately it is not. A wheelchair won't fit through the narrow door because it's right around the corner and the door doesn't open all the way. The extremely long wait (they probably forgot about us) was worth it, it was very tasty. Oh and the toilet is also not accessible with a wheelchair (too narrow).

The food is fantastic, the portions are very large. The prices are fair, especially the lunch menu offers a great selection at good prices. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

Health issue, I will never go again. I am celiac and each time I went I asked if the dishes with yellow curry sauce were glutenfree, and for several times they said yes. However, last time I went, I asked again about the red curry, and they said that none of the curry dishes are glutenfree, even if the menu says that they are. This is really an important health issue. Why are the allergens in the menu is it is not true? why did they confirm that it is glutenfree if they don't really know?

Ich muss wirklich sagen, dass ich hier vermutlich kein zweites Mal hingehen würde. An sich ist das Restaurant nett und auch die Bedienung ist freundlich. Jedoch war ich von dem Essen nicht sonderlich überzeugt. Wir bestellten die gemischte Vorspeisenplatte, welche zwar lecker war, aber leider kalt. Es wird eine Art Kerze angezündet, an der man das Essen erwärmen kann. Definitiv mal etwas anderes, jedoch bevorzuge ich die Fleischspieße von sich aus warm. Anschließend bekam ich die Ente für stolze 19€. Ich muss sagen, dass ich hier keinen Unterschied gesehen habe, zu anderen asiatischen Restaurants, wo das selbe Essen nur 12€ kostet. Die Erdnusssoße war mehr als dünn und das Essen fast schon kalt. Da hilft einem auch nicht mehr die Kerze, die den Teller wärmen soll. Für die Summe, die ich ausgegeben habe, hätte ich einiges mehr erwartet.

Wir sind öfters hier und essen immer das Gleiche [69/196]. Beide Gerichte waren heute nicht auf dem gewohnten Niveau. Die Vorspeise [9] war gut wie sonst auch. Nr. 69 war wässrig und bei 196 war die Ente null knusprig. Service war aufmerksam aber nicht höflich, ausserdem ist es teurer geworden. Preis Leistung war heute max. zufriedenstellend.

Nicht auf gewohnten Niveau. Sind oft hier und essen stets das Gleiche (69/196) und Vorspeise Nr. 9. Die 69 war wässrig, die Ente bei 169 null knusprig, nur gegart. Service aufmerksam aber nicht freundlich. Zudem teurer geworden, Preis/ Leistung war heute max. zuffredenstellend, Service ausreichend.

Bestes Thai-Restaurant weit und breit! Ausgezeichnetes authentisches Essen zu fairen Preisen, sehr freundliche Bedienung und stilvolles Ambiente. Es gibt eine große Auswahl auf der Karte, sowohl für Vor- als auch Hauptspeisen und die Portionen sind großzügig. Eine frühzeitige Reservierung ist sinnvoll, da das Restaurant meistens gut besucht ist. Speisen zum Mitnehmen sind genauso gut wie vor Ort und das Bestellen klappt problemlos. Die Toiletten wurden komplett saniert, sind modern eingerichtet und immer sauber. Das Ban Thai Restaurant ist insgesamt sehr zu empfehlen!

Essen war wieder sehr lecker. Service leider unterirdisch. Habe noch nie eine so lustlose, genervte und passiv-agressive Bedienung erlebt. Zum einen wird man komplett ignoriert am Tisch, obwohl die Getränke leer sind oder man fertig gegessen hat. Wenn man sich versucht bemerkbar zu machen, wird man mehrmals gekonnt ignoriert, um dann auf ein "Entschuldigung" genervt zu reagieren. Wir hatten uns nach der Hauptspeise nochmal die Speisekarte geben lassen, nur um dann eine halbe Stunde ignoriert zu werden. Den Nachtisch haben wir dann nicht mehr bestellt. Die Rechnung gab es auch nur auf mehrfache Nachfrage und die Reste durfte man selbst in eine hingeworfene Plastikschale einpacken. Schade, das hat uns das eigentlich leckere Essen wirklich verdorben und wir werden den Laden wohl nicht mehr besuchen.

Unglaublich authentischer Thai in Darmstadt. Das Essen schmeckt genau so wie ich es in Thailand in Erinnerung habe. Die Speisekarte ist sehr umfangreich was es etwas schwierig macht etwas zu finden aber so ist auch für jeden etwas dabei. Die Portionen sind sehr gross die Vorspeise sollten man eher teilen, wenn man kein großer Esser ist. Wenn es voll ist gerade am Wochenende dauert es etwas und man muss schon sehr auf sich aufmerksam um noch etwas zu trinken zu bestellen

Ich habe über Lieferando Matsaman Curry mit Ente bestellt. Anstatt Ente habe ich Chicken bekommen. Die Suppe mit Geow Nam schmeckt wie Wasser und keine Suppe. Vielen Dank für "so was" Ban Thai.

In meinen Augen das beste asiatische Restaurant in Darmstadt. Die Currys sind von einem anderen Stern! Das Personal ist super nett und herzlich. Hier fühlt man sich wohl.

Ban Thai ist unser absolutes Lieblingsrestaurant in Darmstadt. Das Essen ist immer lecker und von bester Qualität. Service und Ambiente lassen nichts zu wünschen übrig. Eine klare Empfehlung!

Sehr gutes und authentisches Essen. Da es meistens sehr voll ist muss man leider auch immer etwas warten.

Wir sind schon mehrmals als Stammtisch hier gewesen und bis jetzt hat alles, was wir bestellten, immer geschmeckt und die Portionen sind groß genug, dass jeder Satt wurde. Der Service braucht ab und an viel länger und braucht dann Zuspruch, aber ansonsten echt super!

Für mich der Beste Thailänder in der Stadt. Qualität & Preisverhältnis passt voll und ganz und die Portionen sind auch reichlich. Perfekt für ein Mittagessen in der Stadt als auch Abendessen. Ich empfehle zu reservieren um sich ein Tisch zu sichern. Einer der wenigen Gaststätten die sich im laufe der Jahren kaum verändert hat und immer gut geblieben ist. Die Einrichtung ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber erfüllt noch ganz Ihren Zweck. Macht immer weiter so 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Man besucht eine fremde Stadt und sucht nach einer Location zum Essen. Online auf das Ban Thai gestoßen und entschlossen das mal auszuprobieren. Mit vollem Erfolg, das Ambiente gefällt mir sehr, das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend und das Essen richtig lecker. Im Dezember müssen wir wieder nach Darmstadt und unser Essensstopp ist schon fest eingeplant

Waren zum Abendessen dort, offensichtlich Sonntags hochfrequentiert (reserviert), aber wir bekamen spontan 2 Plätze. Vorspeisenplatte für 2 plus Hauptgang jeder - fast schon zuviel... Aber richtig lecker! Und die Mädels im Service super!!

Absolut das beste Thai Restaurant weit und breit. Kein Imbiss bei dem es nur Curry gibt.

Habe Somtam bestellt und muss sagen, dass es das beste Somtam war, was ich bisher außerhalb von Thailand gegessen habe. Da passte einfach alles: Die Papaya perfekt geschnitten und die richtige Konsistenz, perfekte Schärfe und klasse Soße. Die Portion war üppig, so dass man zusammen mit dem Reis auf jeden Fall satt wird. Bisher hat das noch kein deutsches Thai-Restaurant so hinbekommen. Würde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen, wenn ich mal wieder in der Nähe bin. Von mir also eine absolute Empfehlung, zumindest für das Somtam.

Wir hatten Currys, die lecker waren. Sie erinnern mich geschmacklich an das, was man in den touristischen Gebieten in Thailand bekommt. Ich liebs, aber dem ein oder anderen könnte es ein wenig zu Kokos Milch lustig sein. Service ist sehr gut! Das Ambiente ist ok. Mir hat ein wenig Musik im Hintergrund gefehlt. Wir kommen wieder ! 1 Curry reicht theoretisch für 2 !

Sehr leckeres Essen, zuvorkommender Service. Wir wohnten früher in Darmstadt und sind sehr gerne hin. Waren jetzt ein paar Jahre nicht mehr dort und sind immer noch genau so zufrieden. Liegt leider an einer sehr befahrenen Straße

Die gerichte sind sehr leckere Thai gerichte zu moderaten preisen. Es gibt eine recht Größe Auswahl und auch die Cocktails sind sehr zu empfehlen. Die Innenausstattung ist größtenteils aus holz, wobei mir besonders die tische wo man sich hinknien (oder alternativ die Füße unter den tisch machen kann) gut gefällt.

Gemütlich und lecker. Das neben an direkt eine Hauptstraße ist merkt man überhaupt nicht. Hinter der ehr tristen Fassade mit dem unauffälligen Hinweis auf das Restaurant verbirgt sich eine gemütliche und liebevolle Atmosphäre.
