Went to the restaurant for breakfast on Saturday. Very friendly service and very tasty food. Are very satisfied.

We ate schnitzel cordon bleu with fries and salad (just under €17) and a vegetarian dish with hummus and baked eggplant strips from the lunch menu. Overall, the food was mediocre and the prices were self-confident, that is to say, the price-performance ratio was not impressive and was probably due to the location and the rental prices prevailing there. I am charged €9.70 for a bottle of still water. The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. Parking garages nearby. Cappuccino €4.40 and my flat white €5.40. The service is good and the kitchen works quickly. Outdoor seating.

The three of us had brunch on Sunday morning and overall had a nice time. The service was extremely friendly and quick. The food was fresh and delicious, everyone at the table loved it. However, we found the portions a bit small in relation to the price, which is why we deducted one star. The atmosphere was wonderful - so pleasant that we stayed longer and treated ourselves to something sweet. A place with a great atmosphere and good food, even if the price-performance ratio has some room for improvement.

Very friendly staff. The waitress didn't write down the order, just remembered it. We ate a starter, each a beef fillet (1x medium, 1x medium+) with different side dishes and a dessert. The meat was well fried and overall very tasty. The music was a bit too loud for us. I wouldn't want to sit in the entrance area anymore because it can get hectic there sometimes. Therefore one star deducted from the overall rating, but recommended.

Have been there many times for dinner or breakfast. The Eggs Benedict are fantastic. The service is also quite quick.

We had reserved a table and were 15 minutes late. The waiter received us and lied to us by telling us that he had called us several times and that we were 30 minutes late and then they gave the table away. Celebrated a reunion with the girls with breakfast at Balthasar. Table reserved (a day in advance, so only got a slot for 2 hours). Ambiance is great, selection is great. In addition to organic eggs, a good selection of freshly squeezed juices also made my heart beat faster. Whether savory or sweet - there's something for everyone. Service was super nice and on point. Prices for the services and the quality are appropriate. We'll be back 👍🏻

I sat on the terrace on Friday and ate something there and drank a bottle of champagne. All in all it was very good but especially the service from Sam was excellent, such a nice guy, I can only recommend it 🙏

Unfortunately I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. The behavior of the waitresses towards the guests, especially women, was extremely racist and disrespectful. A fundamental principle of any restaurant is respect for customers, but here we didn't feel that at all. I am very sorry that we randomly chose this substandard restaurant for our food and drinks. The behavior of the staff was unpleasant in every way and we didn't experience even the slightest hint of politeness or respect from them. In addition, the quality of the food was very poor. The pasta and salad we ordered tasted strongly of oil and was really poorly prepared. I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant.

Food and service are really good. Despite the four "performance stars", in the end there are only three because the prices are now disproportionate. You pay for a star restaurant, but in the end it's just a good it location. That's why we were there for the last time.

I was at Balthasar on Friday and ordered a Strammen Moritz and several cups of espresso. The atmosphere in the café was really cool and the food was just fantastic. The Stramme Moritz was perfectly prepared and the espresso was of the best quality. Additionally, upon request, they cut and brought me fresh chili peppers, which were really, really spicy! I would particularly like to highlight the service: Hans, our waiter, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. He really made our visit a special experience. I'll definitely be back soon! We were very disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. The way one of the waitresses treated us was extremely rude and racist. We were not told beforehand that the table we were sitting at was already reserved. Despite our food order, we were treated very unprofessionally and disrespectfully. The waitress was particularly rude and showed the worst behavior towards us. We will definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone. These two people in the picture behaved in a very unprofessional, racist and extremely rude manner towards their customers. It is really unfortunate that in a city like Cologne at this time we meet people who are so undeveloped culturally. And I hope that such low-level people without any training are removed from the system so that the restaurant system can continue to grow and attract more customers, And honestly, even one star is too many for this poor hospitality and rudeness. In all my travels to different countries, I have never experienced such rude, unfriendly and unprofessional behavior from the waiters of a restaurant. I really feel sorry for the management of this restaurant that they are dragging their own business so much into the ground with such male and female waiters.

Top Küche trifft tolles Servicepersonal, sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, flott unterwegs. Küche wie immer sehr gut, kurz angebratene Rinderfilet-Streifen mit Rucola, Tomaten und Grana Padano top, Dessert mit Erdbeeren und Mascarpone-Creme exzellent. Auch gut zum Mittagessen geeignet, es gibt eine extra Karte für Mittagsgerichte. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

The “Balthasar” has been our regular restaurant for many years… even though we initially went to Sülz, of course. We feel very comfortable there and the food is extremely tasty. The prices are a little above average, but absolutely reasonable. It's a really chic place, in a trendy area (Belgian quarter), with a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. The staff is without exception nice, friendly and accommodating. We can fully recommend Balthasar.

Very good restaurant - great steaks

Big no!! We came for a early diner, table of 11 people. We needed to wait for the main dish more than 1.5 hours!! The waitress explained us that because one of the dishes is a well done steak it taking a lot of time(ridiculous), than she explained the restaurant if full (it was not), by the end she confess that the order was not handled in the kitchen because of human mistake. Bottom line- i can understand the errore but can not accept the pretending or lack of issue resolving!! They rouened our entire evening!!

Always a safe bank. Very good service, food and drinks (wine, drinks etc.) I go there often. I love the pasta dishes. I was there once with my team (15 people) and everything was very well organized.

Wir haben spontan ohne Reservierung draußen gesessen, angenehmes Publikum und moderne Möbel außen wie innen. Service war sehr freundlich, authentisch, sympathisch und auch flott. Essen: Wiener Schnitzel vom Kalb exzellent, selten auf diesem Niveau erhalten, preislich mit 32,80€ aber auch im gehobenen Segment angekommen, Preis-Leistung passt aber. Dessert: Creme Brulee mit Erdbeeren ebenfalls top! Fazit: wer Wert auf ein angenehmes Ambiente und Publikum legt und sehr gut Essen möchte ist hier genau richtig, top Empfehlung für Köln!

If the waitress neglects to clear the previous table and tells us that people don't like sitting next to a dirty table, the owners should retrain the staff again. Cheeky greeting at the table. It doesn't work at all! Some people just shouldn't work in service.

The plate was beautifully presented, but unfortunately the asparagus was really hard, as were the potatoes. They were just dry, hard and no taste. The entire plate was undercooked and disappointingly not enjoyable. Actually almost outrageous for the price range. The service on the phone when making a reservation request wasn't particularly friendly either. Easily overwhelmed in the restaurant itself. Conclusion: Overpriced for too little quality/performance. But the location and the ambience are nice!

You have to be surprised - a bar in such a location that dares to tell you what to do or not to do. Our waitress was super nice, but the owner's son behaved very disrespectfully towards us. In my opinion, the café is more appearance than reality. If you want to feel comfortable, go somewhere else :)

The Balthasar is no longer what it used to be... the owner's son doesn't seem to have any respect or want repeat customers. Even the waiters apologized for his behavior.

Breakfast was great Friendly service welcomes you in a relaxed, modern atmosphere. Breakfast menu is good and has a great selection, everyone will find something tasty. Fresh bread and rolls are included. It has its price, but it is justified. Only the coffee crema is quite strong, but that is very personal and butter under the liver sausage is a controversial question anyway.

Due to the high price-performance level, an effort is made to stand out from the densely packed restaurants at this location. If you want to sit outside, you have to be aware that Aachener Straße is busy. Inside you can escape the loud hustle and bustle of the street and concentrate on yourself and what makes the store special (see above).

For me it's a place that is overrated. The food and service are less than mediocre and the atmosphere and price make you feel "upscale". There are better restaurants in the area.

Very nice atmosphere, somewhat extremely arrogant service, very young and inexperienced. My meal was a disappointment, I had spaghetti aljo olio with carpaccio. The pasta was nice, al dente, but also cold. The carpaccio was a bit too warm, although the combination wasn't wrong and the biggest disappointment was the burnt garlic burnt. Garlic is something that makes every Italy lover go crazy, a complete beginner's mistake and at almost €30 it's a bit too expensive.
