Delfter Haus in Köln

The service was very friendly, but the online reservation hadn't been registered yet (though it was only booked 4 hours in advance). The service was friendly, but unfortunately inattentive (we went a long time without a drink, and no one seemed to notice), even though there were clearly plenty of staff and the restaurant was relatively empty at that time. Some of the cutlery was dirty. The whole thing seemed a bit unprofessional; things run much better at the Heumarkt location, which is always very busy.

The drinks or spirits were delicious and the dishes were very local, I loved it.

Anyone familiar with the Augustiner am Heumarkt in Cologne will be extremely disappointed by the food. We were there last night with eight people, and the quality was not justified by the price. The food was in no way comparable to the Augustiner am Heumarkt or even the ones in Munich. The service, while trying, didn't deliver despite their promises. I won't be eating there again. P.S. We had originally wanted to go to the Heumarkt restaurant, but since it was fully booked, they booked us into the Delfer Haus. We will definitely decline that next time. In short: We didn't have a pleasant evening there!

Last week me and my friends were in this “Brauhaus” to eat and drink something. We had a very great time! Everything was very good from the food to the beers. The service was great thanks to Benjamin! My friends and I wanted to thank him for his hospitality and simpathy. We really appreciated it. We also wanted to apologize for the noise we created but we were very excited for our journey and for Köln’s atmosphere. 🥹

It was okay. The food was tasty and plentiful, but unfortunately the ragout was too salty. There also wasn't a very wide selection. The service was always attentive. The ambiance was very nice, but everything was very cramped.

There were four of us at Delfter Haus in Cologne, and we were unfortunately very disappointed with our visit. The service was unfriendly from the start and seemed unenthusiastic, which was reflected in the way they served us. Three of us ordered schnitzel, and I ordered the venison ragout with red cabbage and spaetzle. However, my dish was so oversalted that it was inedible, a fact confirmed by the other three at the table. After I pointed this out to the server, the plate was taken away, but returned a few minutes later with the same side dish – only without the meat. Only after I inquired was I told that the ragout had already been prepared and they couldn't make me a new one because it would be oversalted again. No one even considered offering me an alternative or apologizing. Only when I explicitly asked if I could order something else was I offered a schnitzel. No apology was offered, and when it came time to pay, I was still expected to pay for the venison ragout even though I couldn't eat it. Overall, we felt that neither the service nor the handling of complaints met the standards of a welcoming restaurant. Based on this experience, we unfortunately cannot recommend the Delfter Haus and will not be returning.

Unfortunately, I can't agree with the other reviews. The food is, at best, only average, with sauces straight from a bucket and the usual frozen suspects. Prices are quite high, which is of course due to the location.

Everything was very good! No complaints, but it wasn't the BEST German meal I had during my trip to Köln. It was all good, but not as flavorful and rich as other traditional German restaurants. The sauerkraut tasted slightly burned. The rotkohl was bland. Schweinehaxe was absolutely perfect!! Staff were excellent! Prices were very reasonable. Location was lovely and service was perfect.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food yesterday. Both the schnitzel and the venison ragout seemed stale, and the savoy cabbage was inedible. It seemed as though the dishes had been cooked before Christmas and simply reheated on the day of our visit. A shame, as we had expected something different.

The food was delicious but the service was severely lacking there weren't enough servers and everything took a long time. Also, we were seated in the basement area and it reeked of cigarettes - not fun when you're trying to eat.

TL;DR The worst service and organisation experienced in years, rude waiter. While enjoying Christmas markets in Cologne, we looked for a German restaurant nearby to have a dinner and found this place on Google Maps. At entrance, we were not sure is it the place or we got in a wrong door - you only see a small room on the left and stairs going down on the right. No personnel in sight. We explored downstairs and found more tables and some visitors. Still nobody who’d be working there. We took one of the empty tables with no reservation signs and decided to wait for someone. After a while a waiter appeared, took an order, and served quick beers. After some time, it appeared that the table is reserved and a manager suggested to take another table outside or leave the restaurant with no need to pay for the bears. Though not a good situation but understandable, both options were okay and I clearly communicated it to the waiter. I also asked when the reservation was starting so that we now how fast to pack and didn’t make other people wait. The waiter didn’t know when but got into quite aggressive and rude mode accusing me of violating etiquette, not saying to him that we didn’t speak to other staff members, lying that I demand the table, and generally speaking in a very unpleasant manner. We decided to leave the place. Also communicated the complaint to a manager. He listened well and suggested free drinks to improve the experience. Unfortunately, that one of unrecoverable.

We went there for a beer – great stuff. Friendly service. With a view of the Rhine, what more could you want?

A busy, large restaurant, a bit loud, but still a great atmosphere. Friendly service with attentive service. Generous portions of food (we ordered goulash and venison ragout), tasted delicious, but you have to be a bit hungry, otherwise the large portions are a waste if you can't finish it all. Definitely worth coming back 👍

First impressions: great, especially sitting outside. The beer is reasonably priced and very good. The roast pork for dinner was also good and tasty, though unfortunately not very hot, just slightly warm. The reasons were explained by the nicest server (Laura) I've had in a long time. I'd gladly come again...

We received a very warm welcome and enjoyed a good meal, but we wanted to drink wine, which was a mistake. We asked for the wine list, but there wasn't one, and the waitress showed us the six types of wine on her tablet, with no prices listed... okay, we should have asked... we chose the Italian wine. When the bill arrived, it was a shock... €670 for six people... Sorry, but you don't expect a brasserie to sell wines at €300 a bottle...

Professional, dedicated, friendly, flexible, and helpful – all during the stressful pre-Christmas period, especially for the restaurant industry. The food was also incredibly delicious. Respect and appreciation!

We thought we'd find a tourist trap restaurant because it's located in the old town, but in the end we were pleased with the freshness of the food. Specializing in Bavarian cuisine, the menu isn't huge, so it's a winner.

We had our annual Christmas party with friends and were very pleased with the service. Everything we ordered arrived at the table very quickly and efficiently! The food was delicious and plentiful. The prices are reasonable. We will definitely come back.

A lovely restaurant right on the Rhine riverbank, with attentive service and a beautiful view. My colleagues and I really enjoyed it; the food was delicious and the portions were generous. Unlike restaurants with traditional Cologne beer halls, here we weren't forced to have a Kölsch beer on the table without asking. I enjoyed the delicious cocktails. Highly recommended!

The Delft House in Cologne is a beautiful historic building that immediately catches the eye. Its Dutch-style facade is exceptionally well-preserved and lends the place a very special charm. It feels like a small piece of architectural history right in the heart of the old town. I find it particularly impressive how lovingly the building has been restored and how harmoniously it blends into the cityscape. Standing in front of it, you can truly feel the connection between tradition and the modern, vibrant surroundings. It's a great place to pause, take photos, and soak up the atmosphere. For anyone interested in architecture, history, or simply beautiful places in Cologne, the Delft House is definitely worth a visit. A real eye-catcher and a charming piece of Cologne's urban history!

It was great, though a bit pricey. However, we thought we'd be eating regional cuisine at Delfter Haus, but we were wrong. It's a Bavarian restaurant.

Went to try the "Kleiner Augustiner" (little Augustiner). The service staff was very friendly and efficient. The menu, as well as the dishes themselves, are slightly different from the "Großer Augustiner" (large Augustiner). The roulades and goulash were very good. Overall, it was a great evening.

We visited Delfter Haus for the first time today and were extremely satisfied. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was very nice in the vaulted cellar and not as loud as at the Heumarkt. All in all, highly recommended.

We were staying at the hotel next door and decided to stop by spontaneously. We got a nice table for two without a reservation. Later, however, it got very crowded. The food was okay but nothing special. The staff was nice. The beer prices were great: 0.5 for €4.95, but the food, on the other hand, was above average. Very old-fashioned but convivial; I enjoyed it.

The service was very friendly, and everything came quickly with the drinks and food. I ordered three goulashes, which were unfortunately nothing. The red cabbage wasn't hot either, and the dumplings were hot and delicious. The Wiener schnitzel with fries was okay, but unfortunately, it arrived a few minutes late, like the other dishes, and it wasn't good. After all, you want to eat together.

Best pork knuckle you’ll ever have, crispy on the outside, tender meat and rich flavors on the inside and their radler beer is so light and refreshing!

The pork elbow skin is delicious, crispy and fat but not greasy. It is a bit old inside. It is delicious when eaten hot, but it cools down very quickly. The restaurant is too cold. I feel frozen after eating.

A nice little brewery right on the Rhine with Augustiner beer and a decent menu, but with a few minor quirks: There's a draft throughout the entire dining room, the door wasn't completely closed (despite the cold wind outside), and the food (really delicious!) wasn't quite as warm as you'd expect...

Food. Service. Price and value. Everything is just right here. And a divine beer to go with it. The Delft House is a reason to visit the old town again. I don't know all the times I've raved about it. And why? Rightly so. The mother on the Heumarkt, whom I also greatly admire, has produced a beautiful daughter.

For typical German food, I found it to be a good choice both in terms of price and quantity. Much better than the neighboring restaurants, with a pleasant atmosphere, both on the terrace and inside. On a hot day, the lower level inside makes it very refreshing. It also has a terrace by the river. I really liked the taste of the potato salad, which was very fresh.

A highlight for Cologne's old town. By chance, we noticed the friendly staff while strolling by. So we stopped in. We weren't disappointed. Quite the opposite!
