Hey, I chose the cheese breakfast. Everything tasted very good, but the quantity is ridiculous. If you want to leave feeling even half full, you should have some breakfast at home beforehand.

The Balducci in the Alstertal Shopping Center is an Italian restaurant with seating inside the shopping center, inside the restaurant itself, and on a terrace in front of the entrance. There's an open show kitchen and a stand selling bread and accessories. Coffee is prepared using a portafilter machine. Our Calabrese pizza with spicy salami and pepperoni was unfortunately rather mediocre. The dough was unfortunately far too hard and dry. It tasted nothing special, and at €15.90, it wasn't exactly cheap either – you can definitely get better pizzas for less money in Hamburg. The bowl, which we tried at the lunch rate for €13.90, was also rather below average and didn't impress us. Conclusion: A beautifully decorated restaurant with friendly and attentive service, but the food falls short of expectations in terms of taste. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio here isn't right. Addendum to our visit to Balducci's (Monday): We had two paninos for a quick lunch after shopping. One with antipasti, the other with tomato and mozzarella. Both were lightly heated and tasted excellent. The ingredients were fresh, the preparation was loving, and the result was simply delicious. An all-around delight and a very nice little break with an espresso and a nice bottle of water!

Very disappointing – never again! I was there yesterday and ate a bowl – I still don't know what exactly it was. A few strips of bell pepper, roughly chopped onions, a few chickpeas – that was it. No flavor, no idea behind it. A regular salad would have been better. My friend had pasta that was completely overcooked, drenched in oil, and tasteless. Overall, absolutely disappointing. You look forward to the meal – and you're so disappointed. Never again!

We had spaghetti, once with prawns and once with beef strips, both so bland and had zero flavor. The pizza margarita had a weird crumbly flour and thyme flavor, why on earth... The staff was nice, but nothing more! We sat outside on the terrace, and the edge of the hedge was littered with cigarette butts and trash!! You won't see us again... Sorry :-(

We were at Baducci yesterday late afternoon and received very courteous service. The food was delicious and the price-performance ratio was right. Our server (a tall, handsome, dark-haired man with a full beard) was very attentive and had a witty manner. He was a joy to be with! We will definitely go back there next time we're in Hamburg. B. Surprisingly good food. The oat latte was also great! Update 2025: The food came quickly, the service was friendly. Portions were okay, but now overpriced. The place was quite empty for a Friday evening at 6 p.m., given the mild weather.

Mittags gegen 13:00. nichts los, entsprechend durften wir uns den Tisch aussuchen. Sehr freundliche Bedienung fragt nach unseren Wünschen. Da wir alt sind, müssen wir auf unser Gewicht achten und bestellen aus der „Gelegenheitskarte“ eine Bowl, eine Pizza und Mineralwasser. Es dauert eine Weile bis das Essen serviert wird, offenbar wird es frisch zubereitet. Es sieht lecker aus und ich bin mit meiner Pizza zufrieden. Meine Frau guckt unzufrieden, sagt aber nichts. Später gesteht sie, es war ja alles kalt. Wie kann denn das sein, das das Getreide, wir meinen, es war Hirse, kalt ist. Egal, ob Hirse, Reis, Bulgur oder Couscous, das muss doch gewärmt sein - meine ich - schade.

My waitress was extremely courteous (the one with the stars on his neck). I felt well cared for at all times. What particularly struck me was the cleanliness of the restaurant and the outdoor area. I was also impressed by the food and drinks. Gladly again at any time!

We were horrified. The whole store including the furniture is dirty. The floor was completely dirty, there was old, gray dust under the seats, long threads of dust were hanging from the ceiling. The chairs were partially split open, the backrests had old fingerprints on them, and the hem of the curtain to the outside door was totally dirty. There were such loud noises coming from the kitchen that we had to move around. Empty bottles were thrown into boxes with the door open and cutlery was thrown into the sink. Totally unpleasant. The ambience and price performance are a very good reason not to visit this store again. It urgently needs to be cleaned and renovated. An outrage. It's a shame because it wasn't like that before.

Balducci is a well-known restaurant in the AEZ shopping mall. The serve breakfast lunch and dinner. The menu has many options regardless of the time of day you decide to dine. We have enjoyed lunch before but this review refers to breakfast. We tried a cereal bowl and two different open sandwiches. All three were very good. The cappuccinos with extra shots were excellent. The waiter was very pleasant and friendly. We will keep coming back Balducci.

A great restaurant in the Alstertal! There are lots of delicious dishes and the staff is very friendly. In summer you can sit outside on the terrace. I can particularly recommend the Balducci Vita salad! The Caesar salad is also very tasty! I always enjoy coming here.

Was here for coffee and cake, the shop was rather empty at the time. The restaurant is on the ground floor with a large glass front overlooking the entrance and the street - the location is also reflected in the price. You should be able to have a good breakfast here and the hot dishes looked good too. We had New York Cheese Cake and Blueberry Cheesecake. The taste was very good, but €7 is excessive, hence the deduction in the rating. Service was ok, atmosphere was nice, toilet unfortunately only accessible via stairs. Maybe just right for AEZ, seeing and being seen is important here. I don't care, so I'll try the hot dishes at some point.

Delicious breakfast! Unfriendly waiter!! The one with dark hair and a beard! We were there today and he served us, everything was fine at first, but when I paid I wanted to give him a tip, maybe he wasn't happy with that then he threw the money on the table and said you don't have to. He also doesn't return any receipt, even though I asked him 3 times. His facial expressions weren't very friendly either. Never come back because of the waiter

Nice little restaurant in the shopping center. The places are nice and spacious. The staff is friendly and quick. The price of the food is quite high. But the taste wasn't outstanding. The best was the goat cheese salad. Otherwise the teriyaki sauce was very salty. Price performance wasn't right for us.

It's always busy and you have to be lucky or wait a long time. Noise level is very high. Not very suitable for entertaining.

I was here for breakfast with a friend...The chosen "cheese breakfast" was the last...cheapest, tasteless semi-hard cheese, 2 mini pieces of camembert and gorgonzola (with inedible rind), 1 mini pot of cream cheese, 1 mini pot of jam, 1 small roll of butter, 3 strips of raw vegetables (already tarnished) and 1 bowl of fruit salad, which consisted exclusively of tarnished apples... Only the bread and rolls are delicious. In response to a corresponding comment on my part, the waitress just said "I'm sorry"...a bit less for my taste! Conclusion: Pizza again and again...breakfast never again!

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this store at all. The service was disastrous - unfriendly, inattentive and condescending. When I politely asked for some more parmesan, I was instead told to start eating first. A simple request for salt would also have been resolved if the waiter had bothered to ask about the guests' well-being - which he didn't. In addition, there wasn't even salt on the table, which reinforced the impression of a careless and poorly organized service. Unfortunately, we then ate unsalted food because we could no longer express our desire for salt because we were no longer asked if everything was OK. The treatment of us as guests was even worse. I was treated as if I were a small child eating in a restaurant for the first time. The waiter signaled to us in his condescending manner that we seemed to have no idea about proper behavior in a restaurant. Something like that is completely inappropriate and disrespectful. In general, the service was unreasonable: no attention was paid to whether the plates needed to be cleared, let alone whether the food was tasty. The entire body language - from facial expressions to gestures to tone of voice - was rude and dismissive. At the end, when I tried to give constructive feedback, I felt like it was completely ignored. What was particularly disappointing was that the waiter (presumably even a manager) showed no interest in providing guests with a pleasant experience. About the food itself: Unfortunately not worth mentioning. It tasted like cheap frozen food, carelessly warmed up and without any culinary pretensions. I hardly ever rate restaurants, but this visit was so disappointing that I would like to warn other guests. I would prefer to give zero stars. Absolutely not recommended!

Unfortunately my visit to this restaurant was disappointing. The quality of the food left a lot to be desired - the pasta I ordered was bland and hardly seasoned, in particular there was no salt. I expected much more from a restaurant in this price range. The service was also not satisfactory. The employee was unfriendly and spoke to us inappropriately. In addition, during the entire stay no one came to the table to ask about our well-being or the quality of the food. With a bill of just under €50 for two people, I expect not only good food, but also appropriate service. You shouldn't get fast food level food for this price. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the restaurant.

The four of us were at Balducci shortly after it opened today. Nice decor, toilet was clean, breakfast was good but nothing special and actually a lot expensive. When we took the order, the waitress gave the impression that she didn't care about us at all - that could happen, we're all just human. The description of the “Balducci” breakfast is extremely irritating because it says that it is for two people or more because it is so big (statement from the waitress). I understand that you can only order breakfast if you have two people eating it, this is not the case - it has to be ordered by two people at the table for €17.90 each. Misunderstandings can happen, a “better” explanation would be good here. My husband doesn't eat meat and therefore asked if it was possible to exchange the meat for more salmon and possibly more egg - the waitress had a few difficulties understanding this at first - no problem, but then said that it was possible. It wasn't, the kitchen was super inflexible and didn't want to adjust the breakfast for me, so I had to reorder. On the menu there was a “fresh mint-ginger-lemon tea” and a “ginger-lemon tea”, which I ordered - but got the mint tea. I let my tea go back and it was clear from the interaction with the waiter that she thought I should have expressed myself better, because she commented "The GREEN tea?" In fact, it's not my job as a guest to formulate a drink if it says “ginger lemon” on the menu. While we were having breakfast, we weren't even asked if everything was okay or if we had any further requests, although I complain about that in many places. My girlfriend and I had the same breakfast, so the corresponding rolls were put together in a bread basket - two "real" rolls and three types of bread with 3 slices each, that can't be right since her husband had two slices of each type of bread, As a result, we would have had to have four slices per variety - small-minded, but that's what we pay for. All in all, we were all pretty disappointed and decided that it was the first and last time we would visit this store. Our visit was rounded off with the fact that we had to go to the front to pay because the waitress didn't show up after clearing away the food. I would like to mention that I worked as a waiter for 10 years and know that there is a different way. I would also like to add that we didn't give a tip, which was very unpleasant for me, but I also don't see the point of tipping for "taking the order, bringing the food and clearing it away", I find the selection for the tip amount on the card machine as inappropriate.

Absolutely substandard service. Kindness is not eaten with a spoon here. After breakfast I decided to pay by EC. Since there were no pleasantries, I paid appropriately without a tip. The device was then taken out of my hand without a word and the waiter hissed off. The food is good, but the service leaves something to be desired and ruins the entire stay. I won't eat there again for that price. When you pay almost €40 for breakfast for two people, I expect friendly service staff.

Unfortunately only 3 stars. I expected more from the service. The gentleman seemed very absent, no thanks, no goodbye... But the pizza was very tasty, recommended and there was very good olive oil at the table.

Seit vielen Jahren treffen wir uns hier regelmäßig auf ein paar Flaschen Wein und gute Gespräche. Eigentlich recht nett. Allerdings ist das Niveau in der Zeit stetig gesunken. In der Weihnachtszeit am frühen Abend, sollte eigentlich das Hauptgeschäft vom Restaurant stattfinden. Wie kann es sein, dass für ein Tagesgericht und den Dauerbrenner, die Hawaii Speziale die Ananas fehlen??? Es gibt im AEZ einen REWE. 5min und die Situation wäre gelöst. Die alternativen Penner Gorgonzola sind, vorsichtig formuliert, geschmacksarm. Der Käse ist zwischen den äußert bissfesten Nudeln nicht (!) zu schmecken und hätte doch mit den kandidierten Walnüssen eine schöne Kombi abgegeben. Die Weine haben qualitativ auch einen Sprung nach unten gemacht (die Preise haben natürlich die entgegengesetzte Richtung genommen). Wir haben es bisher weder in der 49Winebar, noch im Locks, noch im Balducci erlebt, dass man eine Flasche Weißwein fast zurückgeben hat müssen, da sie nur sehr schwer trinkbar war. Der Brotkorb zum Wein war bisher von leckeren, verschiedenen Brotsorten gekennzeichnet. So fließt der Wein viel besser. Nun gab es nur noch wenige Scheiben Standard-Brot. Das es schwierig ist, gutes Personal in der Gastro zu finden, ist verständlich. Trotzdem sollten grundlegende Prozesse/Dinge klar sein und funktionieren. Wenn man bei einem nicht wirklich ausgelastetem Laden den jungen Kellner mehrfach auf Dinge hinweisen muß, nervt das. Das der Gast z.B. ein Recht auf einen Beleg hat, er aber darum bitten muß und ihn dann doch erst auf erneute Nachfrage bekommt, da der Mitarbeiter schon Feierabend machen will, ist nicht wirklich schön. Wirklich schade um den Laden.

After all, a hello and a please and thank you are always appropriate and always lift the relaxed mood among the staff. And yes, this first-name culture is really well received! The Balducci breakfast was excellent. Everything was fresh and delicious. The scrambled eggs were a very large tasty portion. The coffee is full-bodied. The staff was courteous. There's nothing to complain about. We have been coming back for years and the quality is consistent. Keep it up!

Cheesecake €7, pasta with butter for kids €11, vitello €16, osaft over €7. What's that supposed to mean? And that with the “service”? Just to laugh...

Everyone can find something good to eat here. Everything is presented very attractively and you eat and drink in an atmosphere that almost makes you forget that you are sitting in a shopping center.

Since when do you sit down as a waitress (male, strong, black curls and stubble) while guests are waiting to be able to order at peak meal time in the restaurant to eat first...?! When cashing out, he asked for a tip and said when the money was rounded up on the table, “Should I wait until there is more…?) And this basic “dozen” of significantly older guests is also an absolute no-go! I've been a regular here for years, but I've never experienced such brazen behavior!!!

It used to be better... The bread with salmon and avocado was delicious but the avocado cream tasted sour! The selection of cheese was very ordinary. Overall, nothing special. The service not attentive. Balducci has the potential to be as good as he once was if someone really cared. Since many guests still go, the quality no longer seems to be a priority. Thanks anyway for the hospitality.

It's a shame that we can't rate the food this time because we didn't get any. The staff shortage in the catering industry was clearly felt here. The waiter responsible for us really tried hard, was quick and hard-working and very friendly despite the stressful guests. But it couldn't be done. Too many occupied tables, too few staff. So it wasn't any fun.

I tip when I'm happy with the service and not when I'm pressured to do so... After I logically didn't tip, the waitress didn't say another word. No farewell, not even asked if I wanted the receipt. Seriously, I have better service at every bakery where I get a sandwich for 3-4€... In the end I paid 37€ for 2 people and I wasn't really full...

At first glance it seems upscale. We were greeted in a friendly manner, but after we received our order at the table we were ignored, even though it wasn't completely full. After an eternity of waiting, we went to the cashier to pay our bill. We weren't allowed there - they said we would let the colleague in question know and she would come to the table. So we had to wait again. When the blonde young waitress came, she didn't even ask if it was tasty. Before paying, a display appeared on the EC device with various amounts of tips that could have been given or the "No tip" button, which I pressed... There was no receipt and the waitress didn't say anything. Even when I said "bye" nothing came back... no way!! I was glad I didn't tip her, who knows if she would have even thanked me! Our small berry tart (for almost 5 euros) and small cappuccino (also almost 5 euros) were tasty, but for the price it could be even better.. And then this service...! There is real potential in this atmosphere.

ATTENTION, TRICKING: Older women (my mother) were tricked into dishes using leading questions. Listen carefully when ordering! If the waiter asks “and how would you like your egg” the egg is not included. It costs extra. Always ask again. So that no one will fall for it anymore ;)

Actually wanted to come here for breakfast. We took a table directly at the serving counter. Breakfast preparation inevitably observed. Most of the breakfast plates are served without gloves. This means: Cheese, ham, pieces of cream cheese or vegetables/salad are packed onto the tray without gloves. What is particularly noticeable is that the lady who prepares breakfast touches her nose several times during preparation and then puts the breakfast ingredients on the plates without gloves. We then decided on warm food that the lady didn't prepare... But for hygiene reasons it's an absolute NO GO - such behavior actually deserves zero stars. But it's good to see that some of the others in the kitchen are wearing gloves when preparing the food. Since hygiene and hygienic behavior is an absolute minimum standard in the catering industry, I unfortunately cannot give more than one star. The ambience and service are good and were given a better star rating. The behavior urgently needs to be changed.

Nice decor with comfortable seating. The service is also pleasant and the food is beautifully prepared and tastes delicious. Nevertheless, in combination with the price, it is not optimal, so 4 stars are appropriate. Overall, it's definitely worth a visit.

I ate a strawberry tart there. A cheek for 9 strawberries, shortcrust pastry base and such a messy yoghurt. The service was also unfriendly and impolite. It used to be very nice here, but now the restaurant is no longer recommended.

This is the second time I've been here and I have to say I'm disappointed again... I won't come here a third time Waiters all make faces It really takes forever until you finally get served (the store wasn't very busy) Then you get a non-carbonated cola plus a pasta pomodoro with raw noodles and a tomato sauce that is not edible because it is WAY TOO HOT (asked beforehand about spicy or standard without hot) I rarely have moments like this where I'm so upset and wish I hadn't entered that store.

I had dinner there yesterday. I had the chanterelle pasta, which I can definitely recommend to anyone who likes mushrooms :) The menu reads well and there is something for everyone.

In our case there were a maximum of 10 tables occupied. About 2 tables per service. But the focus was elsewhere for the employees. The food is mediocre. The meat was very dry and tasted like it came from the freezer. The children had a children's menu and there was supposed to be ice cream. No, it wasn't a scoop of ice cream but a yoghurt popsicle for 30 cents, which almost everyone knows from their childhood. Overall: good location, nice atmosphere, poor to poor food and poor service. Ticked off under experience.

For 2 people, 2 slices of cheese and a piece of brie is simply not enough, the brie was still dry on the edge, so not freshly cut. A waiter was called and he brought a new piece, but it wasn't any better. Smoked salmon was simply carelessly thrown whole onto the plate. The salami already had a brown edge. The scrambled egg was in the pan for too long because it was already brown in many places. We felt like we had the leftovers from the day before. When the waiter asked when paying if everything was ok, I told him that we had eaten much better here. Then he just turned around and left 🤷🏻 Ps. Since I'm a chef, I think I can rate the food very well. It's a shame that our breakfast was such a failure. Update 5/24/24 If I write curd with mango and nuts, mango should also be visible and not say that the curd is mixed with mango syrup

We've had breakfast there several times now. In our opinion, the food has deteriorated significantly and unfortunately the price and performance are no longer in an appropriate relationship. We also had, among other things: Unfortunately the glasses smell like rags. But the service was friendly.

We had breakfast there and we enjoyed it. The portions are generous. The staff is very friendly and attentive. All in all we really liked it.

Witnessing a very disgusting 'chef' cooking the omelette with such boredom and somehow anger. Trowhing and twisting the plates on top of the counter with such anger to be served. More to that, grapping the cheeses and the coldcuts with his hands and throwing them on the plates like serving dogs. Disgraceful. The waitress noticed and actually were laughing at the chef attitude instead! However, almost 40Euro for trash breakfast! Dry cheeses and old stuffed ham thrown all over the place!

The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Alster shopping center. Always busy but not enough to have a nice dinner. Solid quality Italian cuisine. Recommended for a small snack and an after-work beer after a shopping trip.

The food is really top for an Italian shopping center, but unfortunately the service is not at all.

Update I was now a guest there and had to experience how one employee attacked the other massively. That was almost threatening for the other colleague. When I sat down, my table was only cleared of my predecessor's crumbs after I asked. No, I don't want to go there anymore. I wasn't a guest there, I'm just evaluating the behavior of a waiter. He sat down on the bench outside to smoke, so far so good, but then he just throws his butt on the floor, which is bad enough in itself, but he didn't turn it off either!!! A mother with a stroller wanted to sit on the bench where the cigarette butt continued to smell, she then got up again and continued walking. Totally anti-social, just use an ashtray.

I have never been insulted by a waitress in such subtle racist terms anywhere as in this store. I have eaten in this shop many times, but never again!

We were there during the week, there wasn't much going on and we experienced the following: We ordered a coffee and a cappuccino from the young lady. The young lady then didn't take the cups by the handle, but rather touched the cup with her fingers where our lips would hang on it a moment later. It was particularly spicy because the young lady adjusted and scratched her bra strap under her blouse while waiting for our drinks. It was pretty disgusting and extremely unhygienic!!!! This is exactly how diseases are transmitted! The drinks were good. The SERVICE should definitely be trained, put 6!

Wir waren gestern mit der Familie dort und sind entsetzt über den unfreundlichen und frechen Kellner der im vorderen Bereich bedient hat. Mit dem Ton kann er auf dem Feld arbeiten aber nicht in einem Restaurant. Und dann noch pöbeln und frech werden, weil ihm 27 Euro Trinkgeld nicht reichen. In meiner Firma wäre er geflogen, wenn er so mit Kunden umgeht. Wir sind oft dort mit der Familie aber nun das letzte Mal.

We were there about 2 hours before the restaurant closed. The waiter asked if we still wanted something to eat. I asked him if he was kidding us (could have been). But he was serious and got pissed (we finally got something). Food was okay, but nothing more. The restaurant suffers from the influence of the shopping center. More for lunch than for a cozy evening.
