Badias Schirn Café Bar Restaurant in Frankfurt am Main

Came here by chance on a Friday night when other spots were full, and it turned out to be a pleasant find! The restaurant is right next to the metro station, making it very convenient. Spacious, nice outdoor seating, and a chill vibe. Service was pretty slow, but the staff was genuinely friendly, so we didn’t mind too much. Food was good, though not a lot of meat options for dinner—maybe because of the Middle Eastern influence? What we did try was solid: - Lamb chops – Nicely seasoned, but slightly dry. The polenta was smooth and flavorful. - Octopus – Cooked beautifully, tender with a nice hint of lemon that made it even better. Overall, a nice spot for a laid-back dinner, especially if you enjoy Mediterranean/Middle Eastern flavors.

The ambience and location is great in the old town 👍🏼 The service and the Cafe Crema are unfortunately subpar 😭

Good option for brunch. Their shakshuka with Feta is absolutely amazing. They also have great pita bread.

Can't understand the many positive reviews. In the past the service and food has been solid. Unfortunately, the service is now catastrophic and the price-performance ratio is poor. You wait too long to be served and then you get the wrong drink. There is no apology. Instead of leaving the drink for free because it came wrong before it is thrown away and you bring a new one, no answer. When we pointed this out on the bill at the end we were insulted. And to charge €14.5 for three lukewarm, average pancakes with a little syrup and what feels like ten counted blueberries is simply outrageous. Unfortunately it was our last visit.

We came for the creative menu. And not too much was promised. Great, fresh products, beautifully prepared and it tasted sensational! The service was very good.

Eggs benedict and shakshuka eggs are one of the worst things I eat in Frankfurt, it's impossible to understand why! Also, the service is so slow and arrogant. Please, go and pick something else for brunch!

Wir hatten einen schönen Brunch im Badias. Das Essen war sehr gut. Tolle Auswahl an Gerichten. Ebenfalls bei den Getränken. Gemütliches Ambiente mit den kleinen Sofas. Überaus freundlicher , geduldiger Service. Sehr unaufgeregt und unkompliziert. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

The waiter didn't know the dishes on the menu. The food was too greasy and not tasty. Table dirty and overall it seemed a bit dingy. Far too expensive for that. Can't recommend it.

At the end of April, in the best weather, we celebrated our wedding in the Römer with a little drink with small, delicious treats in the BADIAS! We were completely satisfied! The feedback from our guests was equally positive! Thanks again to the whole BADIAS team for the wonderful event!

The Dijon mustard on the pastrami bagel turned out to be mayonnaise. But it still tasted good

I took avocado bread, the slice of bread was really thick and like dried out,not like a normal slice of bread. The avocado cream, I don’t want to call it guacamole, because it was really tasteless and more like the ready to go chemical ones out of supermarket. Service was ok, no more, no less. I know this place for 20 years now, once a great, elegant bar, with awesome cocktails, a perfect service and a fine kitchen, now a tourist trap with tasteless meals in an overstuffed glass cage.

We had a business gathering here and the service was amazing, the food excellent, and the atmosphere perfect!

When I'm in Frankfurt, I like to eat here. There is Moroccan-inspired cuisine. I especially love Shakshuka and green Moroccan tea

This Cafe has many seats but unfortunately too few staff who can take orders and checkouts. We had to wait and struggled for a long time until we finally got some notice. Food was good, I especially liked the bagel I ordered in addition. It was served warm and had slightly crunchy surface.

Very nice setting to go for brunch, with a nice selection of different dishes. The price is affordable and the food is very good. The staff, however, were not very friendly and seemed a little judgmental.

Stylish museum cafe with a great breakfast. Unfortunately it drafts because the door doesn't have an automatic closer and the door is always open (even at 11 degrees). But otherwise everything is perfect

The prices are m.m.n. A good 30% too high for what you get in terms of quantity, quality and location.

Vorspeisenauswahl (4 kleine Tellerchen) schön angerichtet und schmackhaft. Der Kürbis konnte etwas mehr Zimt vertragen, wurde aber nachgereicht. Auberginensalat wurde KOMMENTARLOS durch Mangoldgemüse ersetzt; das hätten wir gerne vorher gewusst, weil entscheidungsrelevant. Meine Portion Mangold war versalzen und ungenießbar. Man ist uns am Ende preislich entgegengekommen und damit waren wir auch zufrieden. Eine ungetrübte Essenseinnahme wäre uns aber lieber gewesen. Für die Küche ist da noch Luft nach oben...

The service was very unfriendly and constantly annoyed. Even though we were very friendly and uncomplicated and it wasn't exactly crowded at the time. Overall, this person had a very neglected appearance and belongs more on the construction site than in the catering industry. For a location in the Schirn/Old Town you can expect a bit of class and sophistication. Another waiter called new guests (older couple) (who wanted to sit a little further behind us) back loudly across the room with “Hello, hello”. The food was brought and placed on the table without comment. No salt shaker, no napkin. Nada Unfortunately, the ambience on site has nothing to do with the appearance that the operators often produce on social media.

Unfortunately the food was cold. But it was kindly redone when I asked. I would come again. Service very friendly.

Went there for lunch with friends yesterday on Saturday. The menu is quite large and has a good selection. Me and my wife had yogurt with fruit and César salad with turkey. The turkey meat was freshly breaded. As for the service, well. As always, unfortunately like so often. At the beginning you order drinks and food. If you have everything you need to look for service. A situation was really not nice. My girlfriend is just talking and the waiter comes over with a wheat glass in front of her face and gives my friend the drink she ordered. This could have been done differently. Otherwise we were happy so far.

Tried it for the first time today. Rather disappointing. Price/performance is not right. It takes a long time for staff to respond. Beef in the tagine was one third fatty gristle. Reaction of the waitress when clearing away: I should have complained earlier. An apology and a drink on the house would have been sovereign. Homemade lemonade and flatbread, as well as the Casablanca tapas were good.

The lady who took our order was neither friendly nor unpleasant but rather cold, the gentleman who brought us our drinks gave us a little judgmental look. I don't know if it's the coffees in Germany that aren't good (that would surprise me) or just in this bar (I clearly don't think so because otherwise the other customers wouldn't order it) but it was clearly bitter hot water and not coffee! I absolutely do not recommend for tourists.

Didn't think there was also Arabic cuisine(unsure?) in the city center - a very interesting experience. The prices for wine and drinks are reasonable.

Price-performance ratio is not right at all. Food overly seasoned and extremely expensive! Forgot the supplement even though it was on the menu! Just keep your distance from the “restaurant”.

Ideally located in the heart of old Frankfurt. Very pleasant terrace. Very simple, professionally reasonable dishes. However, the service is extremely slow and taking orders (even in German) is laborious. For us, two hours to get two basic dishes and two espressos. Up to you...

The Schirn Café Bar Restaurant in Frankfurt offers a pleasant combination of good cuisine and an appealing atmosphere. Here are my impressions of our visit: We tried the dish "Yalla Yalla" which features an interesting mix of hummus, minced meat, fried egg, labneh and fresh herbs. The ingredients were fresh and harmonized well with each other. The creamy hummus and the spicy minced meat were particularly delicious. The eggs benedict without bacon were also well prepared. The poached eggs had a perfect consistency and the hollandaise sauce was nice and creamy. Overall the dish was simple but tasty. The restaurant is modernly furnished and offers a relaxed atmosphere. The interiors are stylish and the terrace invites you to linger when the weather is good. The location in the Schirn Kunsthalle gives the place a special charm, ideal for a visit before or after an exhibition. The Schirn Café Bar Restaurant impresses with good food and a pleasant environment. It's a nice place to take a break and enjoy delicious food in Frankfurt. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

This place is very well decorated with details of fresh flowers at every table on beautiful terrace and inside seating. I got the marrakech breakfast which was cold when it got to my table, probably because the service was SLOW and unprofessional (while I was there servers dropped trays of drinks/food twice). The carrot cake was the best part but I paired it with an espresso that lacking in size. You can pay by card but they like many places in Frankfurt don’t have wifi. They are connected to the museum.

I really enjoyed my dinner at this place. The atmosphere on the terrace outside is very nice on a sunny evening. Also the food and service is good! I recommend.

Very fine Moroccan restaurant in a cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service employee was very annoyed and reacted to customers in a stressed manner. Not just for us but also for surrounding guests. Nevertheless, a recommendable restaurant in a central location.

Die eher schlechten Bewertungen sind für mich nicht so ganz nachvollziehbar. Essen war sehr lecker (Vorspeisenteller+Ravoli und Calamari) und preislich u.E. auch völlig ok. Die Lage des Badias direkt an der Schirn ist sowieso super, insofern waren wir über die Leere des Restaurants am Samstagabend schon sehr überrascht. Laut der sehr aufmerksamen Servicekraft ist die Auslastung stark von den Öffnungszeiten der Schirn abhängig. Schade eigentlich, das Restaurant verdient sein eigenes Publikum.

Very solid and fresh brunch options with a great outdoor space to enjoy yourself before conquering Frankfurt’s old town and River Main walk. The bagel was fairly priced and was largely portioned, though it will not leave you bloated.

Great location where you can sit in a pleasant atmosphere. Attentive and friendly waitresses. However, the prices for food are far too high and the portions don't even come close to filling you up. €11 for a small slice of sourdough bread loaded with avocado cream and a poached egg. Unfortunately, this is hardly justified. Very unfortunate.

Had a lovely time with family with great service and an exceptional serving sizes! Unfortunately, like many cafes and restaurants, their matcha latte was not made properly (I would recommend to do some research!), as I could taste the raw powder.

Yes, you can do it. I was invited to a birthday party and there was prepared food. The food was ok, but I wasn't impressed. I was definitely still hungry. But it was fresh and nicely presented. I would come back again to see if it was just the birthday menu.

People was very nice but the cafe is itself nothing special. They had very few options for cake, but the coffee was good.

We celebrated our wedding in the next room of the Badia in October (almost 30 people). After a few teething problems when it came to planning, we were able to finalize everything about a month in advance - we had a really nice day, the food was very tasty (even though I could hardly eat myself because of all the excitement 😄), the service was perfect, Our wishes on the day itself were responded to very flexibly. We considered Badias, among other things, because of the beautiful location and the proximity to the Römer - we would do it again at any time. Thank you again!

Das Essen ist sehr lecker….aber: wenn man keine vier Gänge essen möchte, muss man zu allem Brot bestellen, da man sonst nicht satt wird. Es sind quasi keine Kohlenhydrate vorhanden. Der Service passt nicht zu den ambitionierten Preisen, da man sich alles aktiv einfordern muss.

It's a real shame... A nice location, but the rest still needs work. The rösti with salmon for 17€ is unfortunately a joke in terms of portion size: the salmon was delicious, but unfortunately the rösti was anything but fresh - sticky and not baked through. The hummus for 18€ is served with pita bread (2 slices), which is charged an extra 4€. Unfortunately, the service doesn't point this out: you get it without asking, you actually assume that hummus is part of it and then you find it on the bill. A hint or inquiry would have been nice here. The service is friendly but overall we were disappointed. Unfortunately we won't be coming back again.

Unfortunately service was completely overwhelmed. Everything takes forever. Nobody looks, nobody comes, not to order, not to pay. The chairs are incredibly uncomfortable, whoever designed them has obviously never sat on them themselves. Coffee, however, is pretty good if you can get hold of one…

Laut, ungepflegt, keine Sets geschweige denn Tischdecken wie auf der Website abgebildet, 10 Minuten und mehrere verzweifelte Versuche eine servicekraft für eine Speisekarte an den Tisch zu bekommen. Gewähltes Essen war “aus”. Meine Freundin bestellte 5 Minuten nach mir, da sie sich schwertat eine Alternative zu finden. Es wurde ein Caesar salad, so wie ich ihn auch bestellt hatte. Mein Salat kam relativ zügig. Das bestellte Wasser nicht, Besteck musste auch verlangt werden. Der zweite Salat war auch nach rd 4o Minuten nicht verfügbar, ich war mit meinem fertig. Die servicekraft, die von meiner Freundin mit verständlicher Ungeduld nach ihrem Essen gefragt wurde, gab zur Antwort, sie habe keinen Einfluss auf die Küche und bei solchem Ton auch nicht darauf Kunden wie meine Freundin zu bedienen. Da ich Einladende war, war mir dies alles sehr unangenehm und ich stornierte das Essen meiner Freundin und führte sie in ein anderes Restaurant. Unfassbar schlechtes Service Niveau.

More modest offerings for dinner. 3 starters, 5 main courses, 2 desserts. But if at least 2 of them were not available on a weekday, that does not indicate good planning. What was particularly annoying, however, was that three starters were served and only now did the fourth person find out that their order was out. The portions are manageable, the quality of the main courses varied. There is a loud atmosphere due to spatial reasons.

Snack after visiting an exhibition. The food was good. As drinks we had non-carbonated water and beer - unfortunately also non-carbonated. The service was tried, but a bit overloaded; probably also because a larger group joined us in the next room.

Einmal und nie wieder! Lediglich die Nähe zur Ausstellung und die freundliche, fleißige Bedienung sind positiv zu erwähnen. Speisen sind überteuert und "besonders", dabei jedoch nicht besonders lecker. Atmosphäre laut und ungemütlich, manche Dinge (z.B.Speisekarte) angeschmuddelt und ungepflegt.

Auswahl an Speisen ist übersichtlich. Personal extrem unfreundlich und wenig kompetent

Nach unserem Ausstellungsbesuch brauchten wir dringend eine Stärkung. Es war schon später Nachmittag und wohl deshalb war das Kuchenangebot sehr reduziert. Schade. Da die Feininger Ausstellung sehr stark frequentiert wird, hätte man besser planen können. Kaffee und Eclair waren aber von guter Qualität. Die Wartezeit auf die Bedienung war zu lang, obwohl wir die einzigen neu angekommenen Gäste waren. Vom Ambiente her ist es ein typisches Museumscafe - passt also.

Insgesamt war alles ok; wenn man an der Tür sitzt, zieht es ungemein. Ein Vorhang o ä wäre angebracht bei extremen Temperaturen wie in der letzten Woche. Das Ambiente ist mäßig, leider. Die direkte Nähe zur Schirn ein unschlagbarer Vorteil bei schlechtem Wetter

Wir hatten Glasnudelsalat mit ausgebackenem knusprigen Räuchertofu. Ein sehr sehr leckeres Essen, absolut freundliche Bedienung. Gerne jederzeit wieder!

Wegen des sehr hohen Lärmpegels sind die Führung von sehr persönlichen Gesprächen - Kommunikation soll verbinden- nicht möglich- schade/ sehr schade/ sehr sehr schade!

Obwohl wir früher kamen als geplant, fand sich ein Plätzchen für uns (es war voll, und wir zu sechst), Service war freundlich und superschnell, das Essen & die Getränke lecker. Gerne wieder!

Der Kellner, der uns empfangen hat, müsste das Lächeln noch erlernen und die Geduld, bis Gäste ihren Platz gewählt haben. Die Kellnerin, die uns danach bedient hat, war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam!

Best to send a fax, courier on horseback or carrier pigeon if you are looking to book a table. We reserved online for a table for four at 10am on Open Table, had a confirmed booking. Our group was met at the closed door by staff, “oh no, we only open at 11am did you book online? Yes well that’s not up to date.” Had to wait for an hour, no manager showed up, no formal apology or gesture of goodwill was offered. Rubbish. Food was ok though. Could be a nice place if it weren’t for the management.

Wir hatten wochenlang zuvor reserviert und bei Ankunft in dem vollen Restaurant dann den unattraktivsten Tisch im dunklen Durchgang zugewiesen bekommen. Das war wirklich schlechter Service!

They took our reservation for 10am but the restaurant was not even open until 11am. The service staff were apologetic but no manager showed up and no formal apology was offered. Poorly managed, no regard for the customer. Food was ok.

Good quality of food and drinks. Good service in English. Seating and table space can be better. It is too squeezed between tables and they are all close together. There's no space to breathe.

Essen überteuert und sehr kleine Portionen. Außerdem unser Essen war zu salzig und es gab Haar im Essen. Bedienung war sehr unfreundlich. Tische unsauber.

War hier zum Brunch. Die Servicekraft war etwas verwirrt und hatte nicht den Eindruck, ich bräuchte eine Speisekarte. Der Bagel war gut belegt, aber leider eher brötchen-kuchen artig, was leider nicht meine persönliche Vorstellung von einem Bagel traf.

Der Laden hat mich sehr beeindruckt. Die Atmosphäre einfach Spitze. Die Kombination aus netten Mitarbeitern, gemütlicher Einrichtung und dem leckern essen ist Optimal. Für uns Genau das richtige um den Tag zu Starten. Hier packt die Chefin auch noch selber an!!!

Wir konnten nicht das bestellen, was wir wollten, weil die Bedienung uns sprachlich nicht verstanden hat. Sehr schade.
