Beautiful restaurant with delicious food, reasonable prices, and a reservation was recommended. We'd be happy to go back.

We spontaneously stopped by Badcafe today. We were completely impressed. We sat on the terrace in beautiful weather and people-watched. The food and drinks aren't exactly cheap, but they're still within reasonable limits. However, it tasted very good and was plentiful. The service was prompt and very friendly. We could certainly imagine coming back at some point.

Really great, can only recommend it to everyone.

We ate at the Badecafe several times during our stay in Bad Elster. The service was always friendly. The food was very good. We admired the waiters—they served the many guests professionally. There were no long waits. We would gladly come back.

Dear Sir or Madam, We would like to express our deep disappointment after our last visit to your restaurant. Since 2022, we have been regular guests – about once a month – to eat cake. Unfortunately, after our last experience, we have to say that we will not be returning in the future. The waitress humiliated us in a condescending manner in front of all the other guests. We were accused of ordering and eating two pieces of eggnog cake, when in fact it was one piece of cherry cake and one piece of eggnog cake. (According to her, this is the deciding factor.) Despite our friendly attempt to explain the mistake to her, she became increasingly rude. Her manner was disrespectful and made it clear to other guests how she treated us. Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable to us. After years of loyalty, we feel insulted and humiliated by this treatment. It's a shame, as the food/coffee here was always really good.... We won't be coming here again.

In the service department, the older staff could definitely learn a thing or two from the younger employees! This Noa simply deserves a special mention. Unfortunately, you often consider leaving this place because you don't feel welcome. It seems as if it's no longer necessary here, which is a shame. Owner/manager Katja Gliem should care about these things, as they are crucial for good sales and satisfied guests.

The food was very good, the service was very friendly, and the ambiance was okay. The restrooms were clean and in good condition.

I was having dinner with colleagues on August 19, 2025, around 8 p.m. The female waitresses were super friendly the day before. On the day in question, we were served by a man. He was very arrogant, for example. When we wanted to order another drink, we quietly and politely called out to the waiter. He approached us and reprimanded us, saying he had a first name, after all, and pointed at his name tag—just one of several rude remarks.

The Badecafé is quietly located in the spa center of Bad Elster. The prices for the ice cream sundaes are rather high. It's a shame, really; other cafés put more effort into this, especially considering the location. The wow factor was simply missing. The staff were friendly, but then seemed disappointed with the tip when collecting the money. Unfortunately, we couldn't give it more than three stars on our visit. A shame.

A very nice 90s-style cafe. The apple strudel is homemade, and so is the cream. Simply amazing.

Yes. We attended a small birthday party with lunch for 8 people. As can easily be seen from my star rating above, I can't fault the food, service, or ambiance. The parks at the Badecafé, and indeed in Bad Elster as a whole, are particularly charming. Always worth a trip and a stroll.

It's a small but fine restaurant with a very elegant interior. The service is good, as is the food. They serve home-style cooking, decently seasoned, and generous portions. Compared to the surrounding area, the Badekaffee is mid-range in price. Parking is generally difficult in Bad Elster, and this is no different here. I recommend using the nearby parking garage.

Yes, it was a very pleasant stay.

The ambiance is really nice, but that's about all the positives. The waiter tried to be friendly, but it didn't really work. Instead, he frightened us with his commanding tone and patronized us. It was more important to him to clear the tables than to serve waiting guests. This way, I don't make any sales and instead scare away customers. If I come again, I will avoid this waiter/employee and order from one of the friendly employees.

The food was very good, even though my mashed potatoes were cold. Everything else was perfect. It was lovely to sit on the terrace and take in the atmosphere of the beach. We'll come back here to eat again.

I went there regularly to eat solyanka. It was a dream...super light. The other dishes were also light (asparagus, spiced meat, pike-perch, schnitzel). I would have given the service 5 stars, but I didn't find one of the staff members particularly friendly. They always seemed stressed, and their tone of voice wasn't that nice either. Otherwise, everything was really great: the location, the selection, and the staff.

This time, our family ordered a finger food buffet. It was simply stunning in appearance and tasted simply perfect. The prior arrangements were carried out competently, quickly, and perfectly. The ingredients were high-quality, and one person's gluten allergy was specifically catered for. We are huge fans of the Badecafe. We thank you, Katja, and your team from the bottom of our hearts.

Starting with the idyllic location right next to the spa park, through the friendly staff to the delicious food - here you will experience a completely successful visit to the restaurant. The ambience of the Badecafé is very inviting and cozy. You can either sit inside in the stylish restaurant area or outside on the beautiful terrace with a view of the spa gardens. The furnishings are modern and tasteful and contribute to a relaxed atmosphere. But the absolute highlight of the Badecafe is undoubtedly the food. The menu offers a variety of delicious dishes, all freshly prepared and of the best quality. The regional specialties in particular are a real treat. I have already tried several dishes and each time I was amazed by the taste and presentation. All in all, I can fully recommend the Badecafe restaurant in Bad Elster. Everything is just right here - from the ambience to the service to the food. Definitely worth a visit!

The Badecafé has a wonderful terrace and you can really enjoy the sun. Unfortunately, that was the only highlight for us today when drinking coffee. Cakes didn't taste that good, a bit sour. A coffee that came early was not hot, other coffee and drinks only came 10 minutes later. Service was difficult and not very friendly. Nevertheless, we paid a lot, it became very expensive and that's a shame.

We ate very well, all dishes were freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The staff is very friendly, attentive and careful. We can definitely recommend it!!!

We went to the Bade Café for lunch today. 3 dishes were quite tasty, but the asparagus with the fish was not well peeled and not soft. We complained about this to the waiter and he politely accepted it. That was all. He wanted to charge the full price on the bill. Only when we asked him about it did he not charge for a small beer, no apology. But a whole portion of asparagus was inedible. Well, it was busy today, but service is something different

During our stay in Bad Elster we were guests here several times. And we were always very satisfied. Despite a high number of guests, the service worked smoothly and courteously. Food tasted very good and we felt very comfortable.

We waited 75 minutes for our food. Extra requests (potatoes instead of mashed potatoes) were not accepted. My pike perch fillet had 6 bones. The waiter was unfriendly. He brought a guest the wrong food and when he complained he simply said "I think it tastes better anyway".

Nice restaurant, food of very different quality. Cake and ice cream are great, the Stramme Max is not recommended.

The Badcafé is recommended. There is good food. The waitresses are friendly. You can eat cake well. In summer you can sit on the large terrace and look out over the spa gardens.

4 days in Bad Elster...ate 3 times in the Badecafe. As an individual, the service was very courteous, friendly and nice. The food is delicious, everything went quickly...the two chefs (I asked who cooks...1 German, 1 Czech) know their craft...never had such a delicious solyanka before. The service is... on point... I was completely satisfied and the prices are completely okay. Worth a recommendation...

Food cooked carelessly, service not the fastest

Usually good portions at normal prices. However, today for €16.90 two small heads of cauliflower with schnitzel! A reprimand to the chef! Back on site after a year. The food became more expensive again and the portion was so-so. Two adults with a drink 50 euros for pensioner portions. Then please also adjust the quantities and not just the price!

The Badecafé is really great, you can sit comfortably on the terrace in the sun with a view of the spa park, the food is great and very cheap for the place, the service is very friendly and grandmother's cuisine is a hit. The fried suckling pig liver was great. I really enjoy going here.

Absolutely disgusting rude staff. An older waiter. He was wooing a few older women and interrupted only to insult us in a snotty tone: it's closed. it's not revealed. You can see that. To immediately focus on the ladies again. Maybe the 5 meters further to the table were too much. Who knows. But we have rarely experienced something so unprofessional. If you don't want guests. Should you say it? A tip, spend your money elsewhere. Actually, the café almost deserves respect. Finding such bad staff and keeping them...

Extraordinary impudence. Waiter refers customers in the harshest way. Statements: - "Kitchen is closed. If the bench is closed, then it's closed. Bye!" and - "I had already chained the tables together, I won't open them again, sit down at a table that is already occupied and there is a place available." The waiter actually places a man who wants to drink his evening beer with a stranger. A few minutes later the man left too. Even we have to order our food standing up. We had a small child with us and couldn't go any further from the hotel. Regarding the food: spaghetti with salmon and wild garlic was delicious. Mixed salad for almost eight euros was extremely small. No comparison to the local Lockals. Kitchen gets 4* Waiter ruined the evening. Therefore the Lockal deserves a maximum of 2*

The location of the café is ideal, right next to the spa gardens. “See and be seen” is the motto here. Unfortunately, waiting times for any order are quite long. The service from some “colleagues” could definitely be friendlier! Sometimes they seem pretty arrogant and cold! Make a little effort guys...;-)

The atmosphere seems quite old-fashioned. It is probably tailored to the clientele, which is on average quite old. The service is good, but the manners are a bit rustic. The portions are large but only of average quality.

The food can also be classified as “they tried hard”. My steak ou four, for example, was about 2mm thick at the thickest point, so it had nothing to do with a steak. The spice on it was dry and indefinable. And the cheese was baked for so long that it was already a cheese chip. All in all I was very disappointed.

After we sat down, the table wasn't even cleared despite ordering. The only fully formed word from a deeply suffering waitress was that you shouldn't put your clothes on another free table next to you. Instead of coming up with the idea of ​​offering help. As soon as they entered the restaurant and were visibly impressed by the ambience and cleanliness, as well as the integrated koi carp pond, the staff, who were protected behind the counter, animated and chatting intensively, noticed with a quick glance that new guests were present , but no validation or greeting was provided. The food was good, but you could tell that it was warmed up and not prepared a la minute after receiving the order. All in all very disappointing. Because warm service in the last bar makes a guest's stay much nicer than a restaurant, no matter how great, if the service gives a visitor the feeling of being unwanted and annoying. They certainly don't get much tips there.

Very nice building and restaurant. The café is a decent size and has a nice outdoor area if the weather permits. There is ice cream, cake, etc., and a fancy dinner is also possible. Most of the service staff seem to be from CZ, but understand German very well 👍. The parking lot is already some distance away, e.g. the parking garage from the bathroom. Otherwise we found the prices to be very high. Sundae almost 10€. :(

We have eaten here several times and it has always been fantastic. The ambience is a matter of taste, but not uncomfortable, but the food is really excellent and the staff are always friendly. The sauerbraten is highly recommended and our little four-legged friend was also welcome.

The ambience of the restaurant is appealing. The staff could be friendlier. The food is rather mediocre, and we especially didn't like the ready-made sauces. Prices were okay.

When entering the Badcafe, the waiter pointedly looked at his watch. With the official opening time until 9 p.m., this really surprised us at 7:35 p.m. The drinks came quite quickly, as did the billing by the waiter. Just like a few minutes later the request to drink up and leave the restaurant because they wanted to close. And this approach, we were told by previous visitors, was not unique. Conclusion: This restaurant doesn't need regular guests, they would be alienated, but apparently lives off the flow of spa guests. If some stop coming, the next ones will come

Während unseres Urlaubs in Bad Elster waren wir insgesamt 3 x im Badecafé und waren jedesmal sehr zufrieden. Obwohl es immer sehr gut besucht ist, wurden wir sehr schnell und äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend bedient. Das Essen (Rostbrätel, Zwiebelkuchen) war sehr gut, der Kuchen super. Das Ambiente gefiel mir gut, durch die Raumteiler mit den Grünpflanzen und das Wasserbecken sehr schön.

Sehr freundliches Personal....tolle Umgebung

Fühlt sich etwas leer an, die Bedienung ist aber sehr freundlich.

Am 17.08.2023 feierten wir unsere Diamantene Hochzeit im Badecafe Bad Elster. Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Die persönliche Terminabsprache mit Frau Gliem wurde sehr professionell durchgeführt. Sie ging auf unser Wünsche und Vorstellungen ein. Und an dem Tag war alles so vorbereitet wie abgesprochen. Sehr schön gedeckte Tafel u.s.w. Die von uns bestellten Speisen wurden von allen Gästen sehr gelobt. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam und Freundlich. Wir möchten uns für den schönen Tag bedanken den sie uns gestaltet haben.
