Bachstüb'l in Leipzig

Unfortunately, a complete disappointment… we had a small team Christmas party there last week. The restaurant used to have tradition and ambiance, but little of that remains. While it's always nice to have dedicated staff in the restaurant industry, things aren't running smoothly there: some of the food was served cold, and the taste left a lot to be desired. The staff started making a fuss at 9 pm, telling us to leave. So, I definitely wouldn't recommend it, sadly!

Well, it was okay. The fries were oversalted and the schnitzel wasn't seasoned. You had to check the bill when paying, otherwise you would have paid for something you hadn't ordered.

A very pleasant atmosphere in baroque style; both the tomato soup and the selection of freshly baked cakes daily are highly recommended. I would gladly return.

A historic coffee house in a nice location, stylishly decorated – it could have flair. A waiter (perhaps the owner?), not unfriendly, took our order and collected the money in a distant manner. Unfortunately, the waitress was rather uncertain, and it took quite a while for the drinks to arrive. A second waiter was apparently in charge of the guests outside. The spiced meat was okay, but nothing more. There was a large selection at the cake counter, but we wanted something savory. If the location and history were taken into account, for example, with attractive uniforms and a more cozy dining area, a lot would have been achieved.

Was there today. Veal schnitzel cost 26 euros, but the side dishes were the size of a child's portion. A ton of salad that looked like it came from a packet, with dressing that tasted like it came from a packet. The schnitzel was okay. My companion had quiche, which wasn't really a quiche at all, but a casserole with salad that looked rotten in places. When I pointed it out to the waitress, the plate was removed, and she had to wait almost 15 minutes before the same plate with a new salad was brought. No compensation or anything similar was offered by the waitress. The price-performance ratio was poor.

When ordering and paying, the waiters skillfully ignored us. Since other guests felt the same way, we didn't take it personally. We only had coffee in various varieties, but it was nothing special, and the price was okay.

A Culinary Nightmare at the Bachstübl Leipzig The Bachstübl Leipzig serves what you wouldn't serve even your worst enemy: leathery, tough schnitzels that would dull any saw, and pasta that's probably been waiting for guests longer than you've been waiting for a waiter. Everything is cold, unloving, and completely inedible. They don't serve dishes here, but insults on plates. A disgrace to any restaurant—and definitely a last visit.

The regional beer is very disappointing 🤭 The drinks are decent.

Unfortunately, this is another business that only survives because of its prime location, and tourists tend to wander there. The food is inedible, and complaints are ignored, not even an apology. Absolutely not recommended; the owners have no idea about the restaurant industry, let alone cooking.

Nice atmosphere, but the food is almost inedible. When I pay €23 for a schnitzel and then get cheap, frozen food, it's beyond disappointing. The kids' fries were so oversalted that no one wanted to eat them, I ordered potatoes with gravy for the littlest one, and then they served me dry potatoes. My wife ordered parsley potatoes and got potato salad (store-bought), just to give you a few impressions. The atmosphere and service alone can compensate for this disappointing experience.

We popped in for lunch and enjoyed our pasta and schnitzel. The food was freshly prepared, and the salad with the schnitzel was crisp. Service was good and the location excellent.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS are deceiving! Absolutely not recommended as the food was inedible. Foreign service doesn't know much about wine either (even though it's designated as a wine bar). Hygiene leaves a lot to be desired (cook served in completely dirty work clothes). It's a shame that a traditional name is treated like this in Leipzig.

The pasta we ordered was cold and unimaginative, the “mixed salad” could only be used as rabbit food. Despite the name and the actually beautiful location, you shouldn't eat here in Leipzig.

Es stimmt, in einem Gastraum roch es auffällig. Dieser Geruch hängt offensichtlich mit einem Abwassersystem im Keller zusammen. Wir aßen in historischer Umgebung im zweiten Gastraum frisch zubereitetes Kalbsschnitzel und Lachs mit schmackhaftem Grillgemüse, Kartoffeln und knackigem Salat.

We ordered the knuckle and the starter plate, the knuckle was delicious and hot, the starter plate fresh from the fridge and therefore way too cold. The aroma could hardly be tasted. It's a shame about the good quality. The waiters all seemed very stressed. No wonder, as we sometimes walked through the restaurant at a run. Overall, it gave the impression of processing as many people as possible in as short a time as possible. We won't come again.

I was there last week (Saturday) and saw people outside smoking. I had to wait 30 minutes before they saw me... Three employees were outside during that time, and no one responded or asked if I wanted to order something... So after the fourth employee saw us and took our order (coffee and cocoa), I immediately told the waitress who brought us our drinks after a 15-minute wait that I wanted to pay before we had to wait again... The woman said she'd forward it... And of course, that didn't happen... after another 15 minutes, I went in and paid. I find it really impossible, you wave and so on, and yet I get no response!

Unfortunately, there was a very unpleasant smell of a mixture between toilet cleaner and incense and we didn't like the cakes/tarts.

Unfortunately, the Bachstüb’l can only score points with its friendly service. The cake selection was very limited and the quality seemed anything but homemade. In terms of taste, it fell well short of expectations. In addition, the open doors offered a glimpse into a more than shabby kitchen - a box marked “Back & Frost” was visible. The wobbly table and the unpleasant smell, which was strongly reminiscent of toilet spray, didn't make the stay any more pleasant. Given its central location right next to the Bach monument and not far from St. Thomas Church, the café does no justice to its location. Unfortunately, style, atmosphere and quality are completely lacking here. No recommendation.

Es hat nichts mehr mit dem ursprünglichen Bachstüb'l zu tun. Essen ist nicht frisch zubereitet, alles Tiefkühlkost o. Ä. Geschmeckt hat es auch nicht und es war auch nicht warm genug. Ich kann keine Empfehlung geben und werde dort auch nicht wieder hin gehen.

Unfortunately quite disappointing. Maybe we had too high expectations because of the name and location. The almost empty guest rooms could have been a warning. Coffee and cake were good to very good. The service had more of a snack bar feel. Very friendly but not really accommodating. (Order and pay by going to the counter. Unfortunately no one came by in between and asked if you would like anything else.) Sanitary facilities rather shabby, although clean. Door to the men's toilet kept open permanently by a piece of furniture. This results in unpleasant smells in the area. Loveless decorations and pseudo-intelligent banners spread throughout the rooms. Tables partly damaged and wobbly. Too bad! The place certainly has more potential.

Coffee and cake were good. Unfortunately, there is a bad smell throughout the cafe. It smells like a drain/toilet. That doesn't work at all.

We have been regular guests at the Bachstübl for many years and really enjoy eating spicy meat there. Always tasty and a good portion, but what we were offered today is a disgrace for the price. A tiny bowl that was otherwise served in a large bowl. Disappointing... And the toilets would have to be taken care of professionally.

Visually, the Bachstüb'l makes a very nice impression, but we were quickly disappointed. The iced coffee doesn't contain coffee but ready-made powder, the 'Baked Camembert' is a breaded frozen cheese from the supermarket and the cake on offer wasn't exactly very good either. Unfortunately that doesn't work at all. The ambience also leaves a lot to be desired: no music, the tables shake and the candles are all just LED lamps, even though the place actually looks so attractive. The service at the table was friendly, but unfortunately we were greeted in a very unmotivated manner by the employee at the entrance. Too bad.

When you come in everything actually looks very nice at first, but when you are greeted unmotivated and then sit at the table, you notice more and more negative points. The tables are wobbly, the candles are just cheap plastic LED lamps, the iced coffee for €7 doesn't contain real coffee but is made from a powder and the Camembert is cheaply frozen. The service at the table was nice but that was actually the only positive thing.

Went to the Bachstübe'l today and when we entered the restaurant we almost turned back if we hadn't reserved a table. There was a foul smell like sewage. The door to the men's toilet was broken so it was open and wouldn't close. The ambience on the side where we sat seemed very run down and unkempt. You should definitely do something about that. The coffee actually has a nice location opposite the Thomaskirche. The coffee and cake was fine. But if the ambience doesn't get any better, I can't recommend the Bachstübe'l. Actually, it's a shame.

Slechte bediening, geen aandacht aan klanten. Je voelt als je in de weg zit. Koffie is niet warm genoeg, de ratten niet zacht genoeg.

Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. I expected more style in such an institution. I received my Sachertorte on a lunch plate with a coffee spoon instead of a cake fork without the drink I ordered at the same time. The cake was too cold and absolutely too dry. The late Bach coffee came with cheap biscuit on an untidy saucer with a very strange spoon. The table itself was extremely wobbly - the heavy, stone table top was loose and I had to put the LED candle and dried flower on the table myself. The entire time you could clearly hear and smell the scullery. Unfortunately not recommended under these owners. The banners placed everywhere are absolutely out of place and make the Stübl look shabby. The beautiful ambience hardly helps.

The food was not edible. I assume it was unpacked ready-made food. Schnitzel had such a strange aftertaste that I couldn't eat it. I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. I can only recommend going 50m further down the street. Unfortunately we saw it too late. But at the last restaurant in the row it looked very tasty. Service was OK. To be on the safe side, he didn't ask if everything was okay or if we didn't like it when we had the rather full plates cleared away when we paid the bill.

Great place to eat German food in Leipzig. The portion size, the taste 😋 and the presentation is super. Will be coming back soon for the food, ambience and service.

Disappointing visit. The waiter played on his cell phone half the time and watched videos relatively loudly. We had to speak to him as we entered so that he would notice us. The food was OK. No sauces, mayonnaise or ketchup were offered which made the food quite dry. Basically it was edible, but the price of around €20 is not justified. It's a shame for the great location. I wouldn't come back for dinner again.

Drinks were 50% wrong, food 25%. As an apology there was a nice shake of the head and a “next time”. Separate invoice didn't work either.

You feel kind of ripped off when the waiter constantly addresses you as Chefe. .... the cake arrives 10 minutes before the cappuccino... everyone is bustling, but nothing is moving forward... guests disappointed by the wait leave the restaurant early... tables are very close together... overall not recommended

Wunderbare Lage an der Thomas-Kirche mit wenig Empathie für Gäste. Es roch unangenehm nach Toilette, was nicht dazu einlädt dort zu essen. Service leider sehr lieblos.

Location: very okay, in the city center with a view of St. Thomas Church. Service: Very poor. Ordered a drink (10 people), which came in 10 minutes. Then we waited probably 1/2-3/4 hours until the cake and apple strudel came. Since the service didn't come for ages, we went to the counter ourselves to order the food. The cake came relatively quickly, the “freshly prepared” apple strudel took at least 30 minutes to arrive. So bring plenty of time, because the waiters don't know you quickly. Food: The drinks were fairly standard and the coffees were relatively tasty. What's not possible is that there was a fingernail in the hot chocolate we ordered. 🤢 You lose your appetite a little. Unfortunately, there was only one of the egg tarts we ordered (2) on the plate. The apple strudel was nicely prepared, but tasted mediocre to standard. It wasn't hot, just lukewarm and the puff pastry wasn't crispy at all. The prices were all overpriced for what you get. Ambience: The restaurant is decorated in a boring way, there was a bit of a smell of smoke from the next room and in general I didn't find the shop lovingly furnished, but rather practical, like a run-of-the-mill kebab shop. All in all, the experience was rather poor and certainly not worth 3 stars. I wouldn't recommend the store at all. And the restaurant no longer has anything to do with Bach.

The restaurant has most likely changed ownership and can no longer be compared to the previous restaurant! A table was reserved for a family dinner for the Easter weekend, which was put together in the next room upon arrival - no problem, because almost no one else was sitting there. The tone in the Bachstüb'l is imperious and harsh, and you won't find any skilled or trained staff there - you don't even know your own dishes or drinks there. When I ordered the drinks, several drinks arrived different than what I had ordered. When I asked if that was normal, I was given my Moscow Mule again, which had been made with ginger ale and without ice - this time with tequila instead of vodka, but with ice and ginger beer - catastrophic and inedible... Unfortunately, the dishes that are brought do not always correspond to the description on the menu, a Caesar salad is unfortunately just a mixed salad with yogurt dressing and a few slices of bread. After all, the salad was taken off the bill after a conversation with the waiter - the blame was placed on the chef. Plates and glasses are passed over the guests' heads and the service was completely impersonal and unfriendly. To top it off, half of the toilets are broken and have no light, and toilet paper is given generously upon request. Very disappointing, no longer recommended - the restaurant was almost empty!

Seriously awful. “Caesar salad” consisting of lettuce, no croutons, no chicken, no garlic, no bacon. Sets a new standard in rip-offs. Waiter apologised and quite understood. Owner is taking the p***

The toilet is terrible. Got something to drink and only had something to eat 1 hour later, outrageous. There is no soap in the women's toilet. Service 0 stars because you only get the food after 1 hour. Really bad restaurant.

The breakfast is nothing extraordinary, but it is tasty and attractively presented. The price is also okay. The ambience is very nice. You have a direct view of the Thomaskirche. The spoons in the shape of a musical note were funny.

The Russian plucked cake was very tasty and I can also recommend the espresso. The service was friendly. What I can't understand is the somewhat higher prices for Leipzig conditions.

Okay in terms of price and taste... but nothing more. Food is not really lovingly prepared... the ambience and location are quite nice, but it definitely has more potential! The service isn't really good... you can't exactly say it was unfriendly, but it was just a hassle and not particularly friendly... which cakes or tarts there were couldn't be answered, every single guest had to get up and look at the entrance area to the counter go. You can do that... but there are certainly nice cafes.

I was in Leipzig for my birthday, I enjoyed one of their desserts. Impeccable service and taste and a lovely venue. Friendly staff.

Such a bad behavior. Unfriendly. Clearly the touristic hotspot of the Thomaskirche is enough to make the buisness running.

Flabby greeting, service in a similar manner. Hearing the loud antics of the employees from the next room. Smell of cold smoke. Negated by the employee. There is a full ashtray with butts on the radiator - certainly not from the guests on a cold November evening! Bach would probably have been annoyed if his name had been misused.

Here, as a pregnant woman, you are not allowed to use the toilet for a fee and are rudely turned away from the store. We'll probably drink our coffee somewhere else later.

Unser Besuch im Bachstübl war unterirdisch: Es fing beim Service an: bis auf einen jüngeren Herren waren alle ständig in Hektik, liefen ununterbrochen herum, wussten nicht, was der Kollege macht oder vertrösteten uns - freundlich. Kinderportionen konnten sie nicht machen, aber immerhin einen "Räuberteller" bringen. Das Essen kam nach ca. 50 Minuten, obwohl es nicht sonderlich voll war. Mein Gemüse war lauwarm und mäßig gut gewürzt. Insgesamt war das Essen sehr mittelmäßig. Um zur Toilette zu kommen, musste man an der Spülküche vorbei, die verdreckt und chaotisch aussah. Die Damentoilette muss als ruinös bezeichnet werden. Mein Hinweis, dass die Seife leer ist, wurde sehr höflich aufgenommen, aber in den kommenden 1,5 Stunden nicht verändert. Insgesamt wirkte das Personal leider so, als wenn sie eher in einer Imbissbude gut aufgehoben wären. Die Einrichtung ist sicherlich Geschmacksache, war aber früher bestimmt mal "stimmig" und passend zur nahen Thomaskirche. Nun standen auf den Tischen billigste Teelichter aus dem 1€ Shop und 3 zerknitterte bordeauxfarbene Papierservietten. An den Wänden standen Tafeln mit klugen Kalendersprüchen. Die bestätigte online Reservierung war dem Lokal nicht bekannt. Wir konnten aber dennoch an einem Samstagabend einen Tisch für 8 Leute bekommen.

Der Service war eine Katastrophe. Einen solch unfreundlichen und überheblichen Kellner habe ich selten gesehen. Hatte das würzfleisch – ungenießbar! Der Teller welcher zu 20 Prozent gegessen wurde, wurde vom Kellner gekonnt übersehen. Selbst beim zahlen keine Rückfrage. Nie wieder!!

Sehr schöner Platz im Freien neben dem Bach-Denkmal. Hervorragendes Essen mit sehr gutem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Freundlicher Service. Perfekt fand ich die "Gerichte für den kleinen Hunger" von denen wir sehr satt geworden sind. Im Bild das Gemüseomelette.

Якщо ви бажаєте зазирнути в одне з візиток Лейпцигу , церква св. Томаса пам'ятник І.С. Баху маленька вуличка Томаскирхерхов, то ресторанчик Bachstüb'l навпроти це ідеальне місце де можливо відчути це місце. Музики біля будуть грати класику, гіди підводити групи зевак, а ви скуштуєте блюда які куштував сам Бах після праці в цій церкві. Тільки обережно, Бах став тім Бахом після, а коли він грав то міг дозволити лише картоплю капусту та кров'янку... так Tiegelwurst це просто кров'яна ковбаса))) Але я також люблю цю страву) чому ні... Місто дуже популярне по причині розташування тому треба почекати 10-15 хвилин. А так все добре, кава смачна... і музика це за щось ..

Schöne Lage direkt am Kirchplatz. Wir hatten jeweils Salat, einmal mit Pute, einmal mit Ziegenkäse. Das war qualitativ okay, aber die Soße etwas fad und wässrig und die Portionen klein, daher nur vier Punkte. Service war einwandfrei und der Cocktail lecker.

Heute sollte es nur ein Kaffee mit einem schönen Stück Torte sein. Das Wetter passte und so bekamen wir auch im Aussenbereich einen Platz. Beides schmeckte sehr gut. Der Service war flink unterwegs und freundlich.

Das Essen ist gut, jedoch auf Grund der Lage nicht grad preiswert. Das Ambiente ist ziemlich altbacken, also wirklich aus Bach Zeiten. Service war gut aber ausbaufähig.

Der Salat mit Ziegenkäse war ein Träumchen. Trotz dem gestrigen Chaos in der Stadt, war es schön gemütlich/ruhig mit einem schönen Ausblick auf die Thomaskirche. Auf bald... Lg

Was charming restaurant. They offered us great dining experience. Friendly staff as well. Would recommend to anyone visiting Leiopzug in future.

Wir waren am Samstag hier Essen und sind eher durch Zufall drauf gestoßen, da in der City durch WGT alle Kneipen gefüllt waren. Hier gab es noch freie Plätze und wir wollten eh bürgerlich essen. Ich habe Sülze gegessen, Portionsgröße und Geschmack sehr lecker. Vor allem die Bratkartoffeln waren toll. Preis-Leistung-Top. Mein Mann hat Hühnchen mit Pommes gegessen, sehr zartes Fleisch, wahrscheinlich im Kontaktgrill gebraten, war wirklich lecker. Man sitzt bis zum frühen Nachmittag im Schatten, wahrscheinlich für heißere Tage als wir es hatten, nicht ganz schlecht. Personal war freundlich, können wir nicht klagen. Kaffee und Kuchen gab es später auch noch, der war auch zu empfehlen. Einzig die Getränkepreise lassen einem bei einem Restaurantbesuch immer mehr erstarren. Für einen großen Saft zahlt man fast mehr als für ein Bier, da verstehe ich die Welt nicht mehr. Hier stimmen die Relationen nicht. Ich habe eine selbst gemachte Limo getrunken als Durstlöscher die lecker war, aber teurer als das Bier meines Mannes. Wenn man weiß was die Dinge im Einkauf kosten, merkt man, dass damit das Geld verdient wird, ich frage mich nur, wo das hinführt, kostet ein Saft irgendwann 10 EUR? Hier muss in der Gastronomie mal eine Bremse rein, wenn es günstiger wäre, würde ich auch mehr trinken, aber bei den Preisen. Alles in allem aber zu empfehlen da die Speisen wirklich lecker und auch toll angerichtet waren.

An einem stressreichhen Pfingstsonntag alles perfekt zu machen ist fast unmöglich. Aber hier war man nahe dran. Einen Stern muss ich abziehen, da die Leber teilweise hart war, aber Service, Wartezeiten und Sauberkeit waren top.
