Azteca Mexicana in Mannheim

We had severe stomach problems after eating and had to cut short our journey home. The staff were very sleepy.

Located in Mannheim. You can eat inside and outside. The food was okay, but I expected more. The service staff were a bit overwhelmed because there were too many customers. I'd like to go back and try something different. My college food tasted much better.

Great portions. We were so full after the appetizer that we almost ate the entire main course. Very tasty. We'd love to go back.

I really liked the Azteca Mexicana in Mannheim. As soon as you enter, you feel the warm and lively atmosphere with its colorful ambiance, which is perfect for a Mexican restaurant. The selection of dishes is extensive, ranging from classics like tacos, fajitas, and enchiladas to varied combinations. Everything is freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The spicy sauces and the well-seasoned meat dishes, which are authentic and robust in flavor, are particularly noteworthy. The drinks also complement the meal perfectly. Whether margarita, tequila, or non-alcoholic versions, the drinks are delicious and complement the meal. The service was friendly, quick, and attentive without ever being intrusive. Even during peak times, I felt well looked after. The restaurant's prices are fair, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. For me, the Azteca Mexicana is a great place for a relaxed evening with friends or family. If you love Mexican food, this is the place for you.

The Mexican food was delicious. The portions are generous, fresh, and flavorful. The selection is enormous. Definitely recommended for Mexican food lovers.

The restaurant is located in the heart of Paradeplatz. The service is very slow; the food took almost an hour to arrive. You often had to ask for drinks. So if you just have plenty of time and want to go out for Mexican food, this is fine. But if you're looking for good service and fast service, this isn't the place for you.

We were here on a Sunday around 6 p.m. We first sat on the terrace, but there were so many wasps around that it was almost unbearable, even without drinks or food. It's a shame, because the terrace is actually very nice despite its location right on the street. Unfortunately, the service during our visit wasn't particularly attentive or quick. Except for one very dedicated waitress, the other employees seemed to be avoiding their jobs. It took almost 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken – even though the restaurant was only about a third full and there seemed to be plenty of staff. It also took some time for the drinks to arrive. At least we were offered some tortilla chips with salsa beforehand, which made the long wait for the food (again over 30 minutes) a little more bearable. Unfortunately, the dishes didn't arrive at the same time, but rather staggered. However, the food made up for the lackluster service in terms of taste: The Aztec Plates, with individually combinable dishes like burritos, tacos, and enchiladas, are particularly recommended. There's also a special service for birthday children—prepare to be surprised! All in all, the good food more than made up for the lackluster service. The restaurant's prices are reasonable considering the ambiance and portions.

I went to this restaurant for lunch. I hadn't eaten anything all morning and was really looking forward to a good meal. I ordered a drink and quesadillas. At first, I thought, "This doesn't taste bad at all." But barely an hour later, I felt terrible—nauseous, cold, and shaking all over. It was clearly food poisoning. The service was awful. The server didn't repeat my order, so I got significantly more quesadillas than I wanted. Instead of correcting it, I ended up having to pay for everything. This is unprofessional and disrespectful to the guests. Yes, the restaurant seems cozy at first glance. But what good is that if you get sick afterward? It's clear to me: I'll never go to this restaurant again. Anyone who eats here is risking their health—and that's simply unforgivable.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated, but our server must have been having a bad day. The food is unfortunately Tex-Mex, or rather, geared toward non-Mexicans. Authentic Mexican cuisine looks different.

We called specifically to reserve a table and were told we could just turn up because it wasn't busy today. It's usually a nightmare there. When we arrived we got a table straight away but sat there for 20 minutes without a menu or service. Afterwards we ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail with a burrito. The food came after 40 minutes and the cocktail still wasn't there. After asking the waiter twice we got a normal cocktail with alcohol, which we complained about and as we were fed up we ordered homemade iced tea. We didn't get the homemade one but just one in a glass. Then we didn't feel like saying anything again, to be honest the place used to be so good and now it's going to go to the wall. After eating we went in to pay and had to tell the waitress several times where we were sitting and then had to go outside to show her. We were so dissatisfied that we won't be coming again.

If you don't want to be ignored by unfriendly waiters, wait a long time for your food (which only tastes mediocre), and waste your money, then you're welcome to eat here.

We waited over an hour for our food (wrap and taquitos) yesterday. After asking four different waiters, it finally arrived. The place wasn't even full. The food was good, but not so good that I would wait that long again. It was very loud inside.

I was there with my husband and we were craving something Mexican. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks and appetizer, and an hour for the main course. We ordered nachos without spicy sauce for the starter, and they made them extra spicy. The entire dish was unseasoned and tasteless. What was really bad was that we were there at 7 p.m., and another couple 10 minutes later got their appetizer and main course before us. So, we don't give this place a star.

We actually ended up there by chance and don't regret it at all. In my opinion, the food they offer is pure food crap! EVERYTHING was simply amazing! Starters, various main courses, and dessert. The service was also great. Very friendly, young girls (presumably students) who were very helpful with any questions. A couple at the next table didn't speak German very well and asked for help with their dishes in English, which was no problem for the service staff. An all-round successful afternoon at Azteca Mexicana... We'll definitely be regulars there!

I was there with friends, waited an hour for three burritos, my friend's drink was forgotten three times, and the table we were sitting at was broken and wobbled when we cut the food. 2 stars instead of 1 star is only because the food was quite good. Otherwise, I will most likely never go back and wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Even though the place was half full, it took 40 minutes for the food to arrive. We ordered fajitas. The vegetables consisted almost entirely of onions. The side dishes were missing. Of the five dishes we ordered, one didn't arrive at all. Just go somewhere else.

Large terrace and quite a few tables inside. Service isn't always fast, but it's excellent. Drinks are delicious. The house lemonade is excellent. The food is really good. We shared a main course. We saw some people leave with a dog-eating bag. The price is reasonable.

We were there last night and wanted something to eat. After a long wait, the menus were laid on our table without any enthusiasm, and we weren't given time to order a drink. After another 20 minutes of no service, we left the restaurant because we were simply ignored. The food looked good at the other tables, but we can't judge the taste, but the service was extremely poor, which is why we can only give the overall experience one star.

The three of us went out to eat, including an appetizer. Everything was very good; they really didn't skimp on anything. We'd love to come back.

I often eat at this restaurant because the Hernandez Bowl is already very tasty. I often order takeout. However, the server has managed to get my order wrong so many times. I once wanted the sauce separately but didn't get it. Then once instead of beef I got a different meat, I think chicken. The bowl is too expensive for just rice with chicken. Then once I paid a completely different price than usual. Today I was there, and the conditions seemed like it was their first day here. I usually have to wait about 15 minutes, but today after asking several times I waited over an hour for the food. Because this bowl is so good, I was willing to overlook the mistakes. But this is too much. The service is so bad I will not go to the restaurant again.

Terrible food, even worse service. 1. It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive, while our companion's came half an hour later. 2. The food was completely unseasoned and cold; we had to have it reheated, and then the dishes from other tables were swapped. 3. The waiters did everything except bring our food. The female waitresses flirted with men instead of doing their jobs and talked among themselves while we waited for our food. The blonde waitress, in particular, was very uncomprehending and didn't communicate. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience, which was very sad because it ruined our evening! I work in the restaurant industry myself, and you can see how disorganized and unplanned the place is. The waitresses didn't know what to do and often wandered around the restaurant with the same drinks on their trays. We will definitely NOT be back!

The staff is very friendly, and the food arrives fairly quickly at lunchtime. We've always been satisfied.

The food was truly delicious, but a 2.5-hour wait is simply too long. I've never experienced such slow service. It's a shame, because the food deserved better service.

The complimentary salsa was a harbinger of good food—homemade and deliciously seasoned. The main course consisted of burgers and burritos, all of which were delicious and filling. Since I was worried the sauce might be too spicy, I was served it separately in a small bowl. The wait was also perfectly acceptable. Conclusion: Good service and delicious food, definitely recommend it :)

Service ist incredible bad,never been able to taste the food cause the waiter just ignored me..Even after asking again for my food and a drink I would love to order which unfortunately never happened I waited another 15 min without feedback and this on a Tuesday! I left hungry and totally unsatisfied, will never go back and can not recommend it...

Stay well away, there are much better Mexican restaurants in Mannheim. I thought I'd give it another chance, but yeah: I've been there four times now, and three of those times the food arrived after a 45-minute wait. Other tables were served faster. The staff were consistently stressed and rude. I've seen other restaurants where they offer free water bottles or something else as compensation, but there's no service or goodwill at all.

We arrived as a family with a confirmed reservation (for a birthday) and had to wait almost two hours. The service staff certainly tried their best, but despite a full house, the kitchen was understaffed and completely overwhelmed. After announcing twice that we would like to pay and leave, we were kept waiting for another 15 minutes until finally all but one main course arrived. The Taco Shell salad arrived when half the group had finished their meals. To make matters worse, the food was drowned in cheese and salsa. Too bad, I'll try a different restaurant next time.

We had the Mexican rice bowl and unfortunately it was a very large portion, but the meat was very dry and the quality of the food wasn't that great.

The food was great, and the daiquiri was delicious. Unfortunately, everything took a little long to arrive (but it was also busy). However, there was a small compensation on the house.

The place was very run down and the service was a bit overwhelmed, but the Mexican schnitzel with chili and mushroom sauce was all the better for it.

The food tastes delicious. You do have to wait, though, a very long time. You should be aware of that... so don't come hungry. Especially in the evenings or when there are other events downtown. The service does its best. Despite many customers complaining, they remain friendly. However, the staffing levels are always very tight and quite poorly structured (personal experience)... And it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Dear boss, pay people a little more. They'll be more loyal if they're paid fairly. Especially the employees who have stayed despite all the difficulties.

We were only here briefly to have a drink in the extreme temperatures (28 degrees Celsius). To our surprise, we were served nachos along with the drinks. 🤗

Hearty Mexican food haha, it's good!

A very authentic Mexican restaurant. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. You'll definitely feel full. They offer free nachos as a small appetizer. They even brought an extra portion for our children. The non-alcoholic coladas are definitely recommended. We had mango and strawberry flavors. The decor makes you feel like you're in Mexico.

We sat in a windowless room, which unfortunately wasn't very pleasant. The food was great as always, and the service was good too.

The food was okay, not particularly tasty, but the service was friendly. It just took a bit of time to pay.

Unfortunately, the quality has declined. The beef from the fajitas did not taste good and the barbecue sauce tasted like ketchup. The sparribs were good.

The ambiance seems noticeably dated and exudes neither charm nor coziness. The food is neither visually nor tastefully appealing either—it's presented in a way that's as bland and unloving as it tastes. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

To start off we had a great server (Ely), friendly and welcoming. Food around more or less in a decent time was pleased with it ❤️👌. The food itself felt like a flavour explosion in your mouth which can be only described truly by trying it (I ordered the fish tacos I don’t know the exact name 😭). The mojitos and drinks we got were good, they definelty had a refreshing taste and it felt even better being summer so they hit the spot 😄. Overall great experience would come again ✌🏻

We ate and drank, it wasn't even that good, but after eating, we saw a mouse running around on the floor 😀😀 Our appetite disappeared immediately. We'll never eat there again. Who knows if those mice are in the kitchen too? We found it so disgusting and unhygienic.

The restaurant has put its good times behind it! I've been coming to Azteca for over 10 years, but unfortunately the last few visits haven't been so good. Today's visit was truly a disaster. The terrace was totally dirty (napkins were everywhere on the floor, the tables and chairs were full of dust), the waitress simply couldn't serve well, the waiter wasn't critical when it came to feedback on the food, the food was anything but good. My friend's vegetarian tacos were 100% unseasoned (just avocado and tomato pieces, no salt, oil or anything else) and therefore inedible. It's a disgrace that something like this is even served. Even a normal salad is dressed up with dressing, but the tacos honestly had nothing to it. My fries were cold and looked like they had been kept warm for a long time, the burger was lukewarm. So, I'd rather leave my money at another restaurant.

The food is delicious and the cocktails are great. However, in 9/10 cases the service staff are very unmotivated and inattentive. So if you come with a lot of patience and little expectation from the waitresses, you will have a lovely evening here. The atmosphere is very nice, at least in the main room. However, a reservation is mandatory in the evenings on weekends.

Were there for the first time. The welcome was very nice and friendly. We could choose whether we wanted to eat inside or outside. We stayed outside.

Margarita delicious, service really not good. In the end, payment is only possible directly at the checkout. We had to wait in line🤦🏽‍♀️ When paying by card you are also asked (forced) to pay a tip. I like to pay tips for good service, but here it was really undeserved.

Disappointing. Dirty tables, orders incorrect or forgotten several times. The crispy fried chimmichanga with a mountain of sauce was made limp. Salad and tomato garnish unseasoned. A shame.

We waited 2 hours for the food. We wanted to leave and were told it would be there in 3 minutes. Rice was cold, quessedilla were ok. Add salt to the quakanole. Homemade lemonade was so sweet you couldn't drink it. I asked twice to throw half away and simply fill it up with water. We're not coming anymore.

A real pleasure – always happy! The Azteca Mexicana restaurant is always a highlight for us. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the kitchen works quickly so we never have to wait long. The food is simply fantastic – authentic, delicious and full of flavour. The ambience is beautifully designed. We particularly like the great promotions, such as on Valentine's Day, which make the experience even more special. We have been here several times and always enjoy coming back. Highly recommended!

The food is great. Sitting outside or in the restaurant is recommended. If you sit in the mall you are watched from above. We came in the evening and it was correspondingly full. However, 2 main courses were forgotten. However, we quickly got a replacement.

I walk past this restaurant very often and can confirm that the bucket/vase on the street has been broken for at least 6 months and has not been disposed of or replaced!!!! Today I walked past there again with my toddler and it's breaking down more and more. PLEASE eliminate this risk of cutting!! Children are curious and do NOT see this danger!!! Then I will delete my comment too.

We actually often come here from further away after a day of shopping. The food always tastes good, but unfortunately what doesn't work at all is the service. As soon as the boss is not there, nothing happens in the store. We have already left the restaurant twice after not even receiving the tickets after waiting around 20-30 minutes. Staff walked around haphazardly and didn't pay any attention to us, on a Thursday evening when there wasn't really much going on. We look forward to the food every time, but it's just not possible that we get served one time and then not at all the next. We won't be coming back anytime soon because we were really disappointed. It's a real shame, we should slowly get this under control

Authentic Mexican cuisine. Largest tequila map in Germany. Friendly staff Very good daily specials for every taste. Every dish (quesadillas, burrito, ...) is also available as a vegetarian version and of course with different meat versions. New Mexican street food: Tortillas like in Mexico, small and made from corn.

Good selection of food, taste very tailored to the European palate, nice service. Ambience resembles a Mexican cantina. Price/performance is ok. Be sure to reserve in the evening.

We recently went to this restaurant and ordered burritos and tacos. Overall, it was tasty, but there was too much cabbage in it, and the structure of the tortilla wasn't ideal. However, as a chef, I am happy with the flavor balance.

Friday evening the store was completely full. That actually only speaks for the store, that the store is good. The food was great. I loved it and the waiter was also very friendly in all other waiters too

Food is mega tasty, it's just too sad that it's the only good thing about this place. The service is just lame. So lame that I lost my appetite. I hope the restaurant owner invest more in staff training or maybe find better talent and pay them more. I don't mind paying more, bcs honestly the food is good that it's worth it to pay more.

I have been at Azteca Mexicana multiple times. I have even recommended it to many friends as the only place in region to go for something close to real mexican food. After my last 2 visits, I have to sadly change my mind. Even though the ambient, drinks and service are still good, the food does not have much to do with real Mexican taste. My meat and rice taste like ketchup, cold tortillas, dry and tasteless refried beans. I can only recommend this place to get some drinks and appetizers.

Unfortunately, absolutely not recommended. Despite the efforts of the staff, food is often forgotten. The tables stick and are not wiped clean. The increase in prices also shows a deterioration in quality, which is a shame.

The dishes came super quickly - a great plus point when you're really hungry. The Virgin Caipis were delicious and refreshing. We were served by three ladies. That was a bit confusing, even though all three were friendly. The first wrote her name on a piece of paper with the table number (payment is not made at the table, but at the exit), the second brought our drinks, the third the food we ordered. The taco in the children's meal was a bit dry with the two ingredients of minced meat and cheese (that's what it said on the menu, so of course it's up to the customer to say something). Otherwise, the dishes were filling, but unfortunately nothing “special” for us. When paying we had to point out the Family Day discount promised in the menu. All in all, not necessarily worth a second try, but "never say never" ;)

I've eaten here several times over the last few years and have always been very satisfied. Since I was a vegetarian and have been vegan for some time, I was always very grateful for the large selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. When I ordered the same thing in January this year that I have been eating there for years (a rice bowl that is marked as vegetarian/vegan available upon request), I was told by the waitress that this dish was not available as vegan. When I asked, she explained to me that they cook their rice in chicken broth. She further explained to me that they prepare EVERY rice this way and there is no other way. So almost all the dishes that are marked as vegetarian or even vegan on the menu are actually neither vegan nor vegetarian. So in the last few years I have consumed chicken broth several times without knowing it and have therefore lost all trust in Azteca. So to all vegetarians/vegans who eat here: The rice dishes are not vegetarian! And to the Azteca: Please adjust your menu IMMEDIATELY!
