Aurora Hotel & Restaurant in Kappeln

We were just in the restaurant. Service very friendly and attentive. We were a group and the food came very quickly for everyone. Portions good, prices still in the normal range. I missed the usual side salad in some dishes. But everything tasted very tasty. Card payment is accepted. Definitely worth coming back for us.

Neighboring house very noisy. Cleaning of the rooms at 7.30 a.m. was unfortunately extremely loud. I thought they were remodeling the room. At first there were no curtains, so the curtain had to be almost closed all the time... Food in the restaurant was great. Had reserved a table in the restaurant two weeks in advance, but were moved to the breakfast room. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish the drinks in peace because the tables for breakfast were arranged quite loudly. Like getting kicked out. Worth mentioning is the lady who managed breakfast almost alone. Super nice and hardworking...

Location right in the city center - it couldn't be more central. I stayed in the hotel's guest house opposite the restaurant, right next to the church: simple furnishings, but everything you need was there. Marked parking space directly at the house. The menu in the restaurant is varied, the portions are large, and meat dishes dominate. Depending on the crowds, there may be waiting times in high season, but that's understandable. The staff is occasionally a little out of breath, but always nice and attentive - unfortunately some tourists are not.

Very good cuisine. I had very good meals there 3 times. Everything was very tasty and freshly prepared. The dishes are appetizingly prepared. The grilled liver was great. “Extra requests” were responded to in a friendly manner without hesitation. I would be happy to come back and recommend the restaurant, also because the prices quoted were completely acceptable. I can't say anything about the hotel because we didn't stay there.

Only restaurant to rate, first of all the food was delicious but that was it. Unfortunately we waited a very long time (about 1 hour) for the food, then unfortunately it was lukewarm to cold and the food didn't come at the same time. It's a shame they expected more from the Aurora's "reputation".

We didn't stay there so of course I can't rate the rooms. However, we did eat there, which I can rate. I had nothing to complain about about the food itself, although it was a bit cool in the part of the dining room where we were sitting. The table was reserved for 6 p.m. and around 6:10 p.m. we ordered food for 5 people. This didn't come until around 7:10 p.m., which meant a good 1 hour wait. Unfortunately, we didn't ask during the meal if anyone else would like to drink something, which unfortunately wasn't so good. Unfortunately, the fact that one drink too many was booked resulted in only a 2-star rating. But as I said, the food was nothing to complain about.

We go to Aurora to eat every time we are in Kappeln. My husband swears they have the best beef liver there. My favorite is the Caucasian shashöik. We have been to Kappeln 10 times now and have always had a fantastic meal there 10 times. We can't say anything about the hotel. We are accommodated in a single apartment.

Begonnen hat alles mit einer sehr unfreundlichen Bedienung. Weiter ging es mit Pommes, die nach altem Fett gestunken und geschmeckt haben. Leider wurden auch die Bratkartoffeln in Fett schwimmend serviert. Nach dem Besuch haben alle unsere Klamotten nach altem Bratfett gestunken, als hätten wir in der Fritöse gebadet. Geschmacklich und qualitativ ein absoluter Reinfall!

Everything just fits here. Beautiful large and spacious rooms, modernly furnished and a truly huge bathroom with rain shower. Everything is very centrally located. in the middle of the city and still with its own free parking spaces. From here you can reach everything in just a few minutes on foot. Very good breakfast! And the restaurant also makes a very good impression. We didn't eat there, just drank something, but the portions that left the kitchen were large and looked very tasty. Overall, highly recommended for a short vacation! We'll be back! By the way: if you belong to the older generation who still know the series “The Country Doctor”; The bar scenes were filmed here. You can recognize it inside...

On the one hand, because we finally managed to get a table and on the other hand, we were very impressed by the warmth and service! The food was a pleasure - everything was excellently prepared, the meat was served perfectly - and the side dishes were a delight :-) But it wasn't just the food that was a dream - also the warmth and the service in general - even if our place was a bit hidden. Hervorragendes Restaurant mit toller Balkanküche. Service ist freundlich und sehr zuvorkommend. Das Essen war fantastisch. Fleisch auf den Punkt gebraten. Beilagen waren sehr heiß. Sehr zu empfehlen.

One of the few sunny terrace spots in downtown Kappeln. Good food, great lunch specials. Steak and meat are prepared there on a lava grill and taste really particularly good.

Ins Aurora gehen wir immer wieder gerne. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und schnell. Die Steaks sind wirklich empfehlenswert aber auch die anderen Angebote haben uns immer gut geschmeckt. Ein weiterer positiver Punkt ist, dass das Restaurant länger geöffnet als die meisten anderen in Kappeln.

Your own salad is definitely delicious, service is quick and friendly. Preparing the main course takes some time but it's worth it.

Unbeatable lunchtime dishes at very reasonable prices. It makes sense to reserve in the evening. The regulars' table met here in the "Country Doctor". Table still available.

Vegetarians beware: I ordered the vegetarian pan with fried potatoes. After about an hour of waiting, the fried potatoes with bacon arrived. Not a word of regret from the stroppy waitress. I should have ordered vegetarian fried potatoes. So “vegetarian pan with vegetarian fried potatoes”. The location is quite nice. The pan that I then had to eat without any side dish was very oily, but otherwise okay.

Unfortunately the steak missed the desired cooking point. For miles. Forgot part of the drink requests. At least not on the bill.

Auf einen Grillteller musste ich 75 Minuten warten, auf ein Bier 30 Minuten. Die Cevapcici waren innen halb roh, der Rest okay. Der dazugehörige Salat bestand aus einem Teelöffel geraspelter Möhre, einer halben Tomate, zwei Scheibchen Gurke und zwei Blättchen Salat. Die Salatsosse kam aus dem Eimer. Eine Entschuldigung für die lange Wartezeit gab es nicht. Leider haben Freundlichkeit des Personals und Qualität der Speisen im Vergleich zum letzten Jahr enorm nachgelassen. Schade. Da geht man dann künftig eben woanders hin

Unfortunately, compared to the last visit in 2022, the quality has generally deteriorated. The pork steak was gnarly, the portion size was reduced (you can actually ignore that since everything became more expensive), the French fries were more like steakhouse fries, the meat was very well done and the Cordeoun Bleu was lukewarm inside. A service worker was probably previously in the Bundeswehr, which is what the sound of the barracks yard suggests. I'm not the type to complain, but I also voiced this criticism. Since I spend my vacation here every 2 years, I will most likely give the Aurora a second chance in terms of quality. The menu on the website is still a very small minus. It is outdated and the food is on average 2 euros more expensive. I also mentioned that the map should be updated. All in all: disappointing this time

We ate outside on the terrace in June. I can't say anything about the hotel. From the lunch menu we had a grill plate with two types of dips and an Aurora salad, which is normally served with baked potatoes. It was over and I had toasted bread, which was also very tasty. The prices of grill plates for 11.90 euros and salad with turkey for 10.90 at lunchtime are unbeatable these days. The staff seemed very distant, but we were served politely. We would go back for dinner

The lunch menu also impresses with its price-performance ratio. Plus the location in the center of town and with a very pleasant outdoor area that can also be used when the weather is a little worse. Wir sind eher zufällig hier gelandet, nach den Heringstagen war in Kappeln "die Luft raus". Gut, es hat etwas gedauert und es war nicht "haute cuisine", aber wir haben sehr solide zu vernünftigen Preisen gegessen. Die Bedienung war freundlich und die Atmosphäre gemütlich. Ein netter letzter Abend in Kappeln.

Wirklich sehr leckeres griechisches (balkanesisches?) Essen, aufmerksamer und sehr freundlicher Service und anheimelndes Ambiente (fast wie damals). Wir haben einen sehr gemütlichen Abend bei leckerem Essen, aufmerksamem Service und in Erinnerung an den Landarzt verbracht. Uns hat das sehr gefallen!

We weren't in the hotel but visited the restaurant. Delicious Balkan and other specialties. Generous portions, good price/performance ratio. Nice service and parking nearby. If you are ever near Kappeln, this restaurant is worth a visit.

We ate the Aurora Platter 1 for 2 people in the restaurant and were very satisfied. The food was varied, rich and very tasty. The staff is also attentive and very friendly.

We ate there today and were very dissatisfied! We had the country doctor's plate and the spaegel with ham etc. The country doctor's plate didn't have enough croquettes and the spagel was woody and had five small thin sticks. Really cool for the price! The dessert wasn't as described on the menu either! The service was sometimes unfriendly. We told the service in a friendly manner, but there was no apology or anything like that! The waiter was apparently looking for a tip, which we hadn't given there this time, and left angrily without a nice evening or anything else and talked to his colleagues about it when we noticed it! We took a short vacation for 4 days and ate there twice. It was delicious both times. The service was very nice and friendly. The food was extremely tasty and plentiful. If we're in the area again, we'll be happy to come back.

The hotel/restaurant is located in the middle of Kappeln, not far from the harbor. There is parking space, but not enough. However, you can park in a public parking lot in front of the hotel, day ticket €9, if you are lucky enough to get a parking space. The room was small, but completely sufficient for us. The bed was too soft for my standards, but that's a matter of taste. The bathroom is getting a bit old and the joints are partly sparkling. But it served its purpose, and as we all know, that's all it's supposed to do. The breakfast was ok. But I've had a better breakfast... the staff leaves a lot to be desired. When checking in you were greeted half-heartedly and then quickly checked in. I can understand everything about time pressure and a lack of staff, but a hotel depends on its welcome. The restaurant was really busy and we had to make a reservation. But even there we were greeted half-heartedly and had to wait a long time until we were shown to the table. The staff wasn't that friendly, probably because we weren't regular customers (as in, we were just guests). Regular customers were warmly welcomed... All in all a nice hotel in the middle of Kappeln, but for us it was the last time 🤷‍♀️.

We were here for dinner. The restaurant is located absolutely centrally in Kappeln. Parking spaces are available nearby. Unfortunately we actually had to wait an hour for our food. Hence the missing star. Even though the store was busy, we found the waiting time to be quite long. But the quality of the food was convincing. The portions are large and really tasty. All in all, the repetition factor is 80%.

We only visited the restaurant. The map doesn't reveal any special features, but is generally well put together. Above all, the service impresses with its speed and friendliness. The central location is of course also a plus. However, parking space is limited, at least in the immediate vicinity.

Waited over an hour for the food we ordered! The duck breast no longer really tasted like duck because the sauce didn't go well with it. No further requests were asked. Never eat here again at Christmas!

We were there for lunch. The number of guests was manageable. Nevertheless, it took 45 minutes for the first food to arrive. Not only us, but everyone has waited a long time! The turkey breast was burnt and was taken back. When I finished my meal, my wife got her meal but without fries. They came after half the meat had been eaten. An apology from the waitress? None! It remains to be added that a guest who arrived last, but was probably an acquaintance of the waitress, received his food after just a few minutes.

We always enjoy going to the restaurant to eat. We book a table in advance. The food was always very good, the portions were generous. The selection of dishes is wide, there should be something for everyone. The service has always been friendly and quick. If it is very busy, you have to expect a waiting time, but this is reasonable. We can absolutely recommend it.

Reserved a table for the evening at lunchtime, got there early, took the order quickly and competently and provided the drinks and food very quickly, the taste was on point, the steak was great, the sauces were delicious and spicy. We enjoyed lunch once again. We once again had an excellent lunch for less than 15 euros per person. The grill plate tasted great with the matching dips and was hardly manageable in terms of quantity. The liver with sautéed onions couldn't be beaten and was packed up and taken home. The service was fresh, funny and competent. For a total of 45 euros including drinks, this visit was also great. We will come back in any case.
