Nürnberger Bratwürste & Käsespätzle are a musst here. Definitely both the best we had in Nürnberg. Friendly waiters that also speak English and know how to joke with the guests even if the place is crowded. We enjoyed the time spent here & also had a delicious meal. Thank you!

Roast pork is highly recommended

We spontaneously ate 4 in the W outdoor area and were served very friendly. The 4 in the W were attractively served in a basket. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped again the next day.

The lady at the cashier was rude, the restaurant was empty and she was giving us a very small table that was just for one person. We tried to ask for another one but then she was rude... The restaurant was EMPTY. I dont recommend

Regular care. They don't make any effort with foreigners. Don't order cordon bleu, it was terrible, it just tasted like smoke. We also ordered apple fritters and it had so much sugar that you couldn't notice the apple. They only had espresso coffee, there was no option for coffee with milk or infusions. I must not have been lucky when selecting the dishes. I don't recommend it.

From the daily menu we had roast venison and goose breast, as well as duck from the regular menu. Poultry could have been fried crispier. The roast venison consisted of 3 slices with spaetzle and creamed savoy cabbage. It was tasty, but it wasn't a taste revelation. Service friendly and quick. Ambience quaint and relatively comfortable. Augustiner Hell flows from the tap of a wooden barrel.

Food was good, beer is of course good too, service was friendly, we were allowed to move around because at first we could only find space on uncomfortable bar stools with a high table.

Had something to eat there yesterday with work colleagues at the end of the year. The waitress told us that an appetizer had been ordered for us when we made the reservation for 13 people and that we now had to take it too. We then had to pay for the meal for 13 people, even though there were only 9 of us. We paid around 110 euros for two appetizer plates that weren't particularly large and were served with manageable amounts of bread. Our colleague who had made a reservation there and had to cancel due to illness told us afterwards that he had not ordered the starter and the statement was that we only had to take the starter if there were 10 people or more. Nice approach to boost sales for locally based companies. Unfortunately, the service wasn't particularly friendly after we initially complained about the appetizer platters and the food was... well, let's say satisfactory. Only the freshly tapped beer kept the mood high. In any case, we will avoid eating here with colleagues in the future

I don't see all the fuzz about the place. I've had dinner there, food was OK, staff was sufficiently helpful, ambiance was OK. But nothing was too extraordinary. All was just as it should be. And prices are of course touristic, let me add.

Splendid local food and atmosphere - located at the top of the road where the castle is. Spaetzel, Cordon Bleu, and Pork Shoulder were all to die for. 5/5. We personally dislike any potato dumpling in general and unfortunately there was not option to swap it for something else. Serves decent beer too.

Typical German tavern, or at least it's how I imagine it: rustic, small and charming, mugs of beer coming and going. The waiters very friendly. The menu is quite simple, and almost all the options are some form of German sausage (grilled, boiled, roasted...) They also have 3 or 4 other dishes, meat and soup. We ordered the pork shoulder, which was delicious. It had a crispy pork rind type crust that was a 10. It was a large portion perfect for sharing. It came with potato salad, which was rather regulinchi, but it is typical of the area, because we saw it in several places and it was the same. Eating in these typical places is in general a very interesting cultural experience.

Great location in Nuremberg. Great Schäufele and a perfect Kaiserschmarrn. Great service.

We were there as a larger group (table was reserved). The menu is available in German and English and is not the most extensive. But there is something for everyone. Usually there are Franconian dishes and dishes there. The food was very tasty, portions (for men) just enough (if you were very hungry ;)). Augustiner beer is available in all types. The other guests were quite international, which wasn't a problem for the service staff. I also have to give them special praise - everyone was very nice and helpful. That was a positive thing :) Prices are not the cheapest but are appropriate for the location (right next to the castle!) and are affordable. Toilet is on the first floor! People with walking difficulties probably have a problem here. I would visit the Augsburger Schänke again if I was in Nuremberg (again)!

Zu 4 Erwachsenen und 2 Kindern mit gesundem Appetit haben wir sehr gut gegessen. Es war kein Problem, eine Beilage auszutauschen. Der Service war extrem aufmerksam und freundlich.

Tourist hotspot and rightly so. 150 m below the Imperial Castle, on the city wall with many historical buildings all around. There are good restaurants in some of them. Because of the shade at lunchtime, we took a seat on the barrier's terrace. Fast, friendly service. We really liked the service man with his obligation to place the 3 menus under the cutlery jug several times. Augustiner is definitely one of the best. We really didn't expect that the 1/2 farmer's duck with sauce, dumpling and red cabbage was so tasty beyond the border. The husband was happy about the fried chicken with cranberries and potato and cucumber salad. Finally, we tried the Burggeist for €3.50. Snappy herbal liqueur, sweet, surprisingly tasty.

For a tourist hotspot, it's still pleasantly relaxed, the food is pretty average, Augustiner noble stuff on tap, a real "Nuremberg atmosphere" at Tiergärtnertorplatz. Recommended for the end of a castle confirmation.

schlimmste Erfahrung aller Zeiten. Ich war hier in Deutschland noch nie in einem Restaurant, in dem ein Kellner ein Trinkgeld verlangte. Der Kellner weigerte sich, mich ohne Trinkgeld bezahlen zu lassen. Er setzte das Kartenlesegerät immer wieder zurück und sagte, ich müsse Trinkgeld geben. Es ist illegal, dass er mir die Zahlung verweigert, ohne Trinkgeld zu geben. Es geht nicht um das Trinkgeld, sondern ums Prinzip. Sie verlangen von mir kein Trinkgeld, egal unter welchen Umständen.

Nice place for beers and German fare while watching the people go by.

Zuerst wurden die blaue Zippferl ohne Brot serviert, dann kam eine alte, trockene Scheibe wo von lauter Elend ein Loch war. Als ich mich mit der Antwort, es sei das letzte Brot, nicht zufrieden stellen wollte, wurden zwei Scheiben serviert, die wohl an einem anderen Tisch übergeblieben sein müssten. Um dann bei der Kartenzahlung 10%, 15% oder 20% Trinkgeld als Option vorzuschlagen, grenzt an einem gestörten Selbstbild.

I was here today with a group of friends as we decided to take a trip to Nuremberg. A friend already knew the restaurant and remembered it well. Since we reserved in advance, we were able to sit directly at the table. It took at least 30 minutes from the time we ordered to ordering, only to then have to wait another 30 minutes for the food. When the food arrived we discovered that the food had been written down incorrectly and something else had been brought. We took that because otherwise we would have had to wait at least another 20 minutes. A short time (~10 minutes) later I ordered Käsespätzle, for which I had to wait over 40 minutes. It was brought just as we were about to leave because we found the wait awful. The food was delicious, but the service and the waiting time were rather poor.

Unfortunately the staff doesn't make you feel welcome at all. There were two of us and after we weren't given a particularly friendly place in the beer garden and I had a question about a dish, I was rudely approached. In the end we just had a drink and left the restaurant. Once and never again. Down the street towards Albrecht Dürer Platz there are super nice restaurants with very tasty food.

Picturesquely located in one of the most beautiful places in Nuremberg right next to the Dürerhaus. There are Bavarian/Franconian dishes. The price is slightly above the Nuremberg average, which is probably due to the location. You don't have to understand why people are now serving Munich beer in the beer country of Franconia. The tourist doesn't care, the Franconian's heart bleeds. The toilet on the 1st floor can only be reached via a narrow staircase, so it is probably not suitable for wheelchair users.

On May 20, 2024 we and our family were faced with a not very pleasant situation. Let me say right away that we love your Augustiner restaurant chain and whenever we visit a new city in Germany, we immediately check to see if your restaurant is there. Then we took a trip to Nuremberg and were very happy that your restaurant was there. But unfortunately we were only left with a bad impression, namely when it came to the service. When we arrived at the restaurant, I asked an employee the usual question: “Do you have a free table for four people?” They turned away from me and continued talking to their colleague. We stood at the entrance for about a minute until the worker's colleague came back to us and asked us to find a place OURSELVES. Okay, we went there, found a free table where people had recently sat, and left their beer glasses behind - they weren't cleaned (and they weren't cleaned until the end of our stay). We asked a waitress if we could sit here, she said of course and had to clear up the previous guests' dirty cups. We sat down, started choosing the dishes and let me tell you, we were waiting for someone to come to us, my sister even called the waiters but we sat there for almost half an hour and were honestly - ignored. My little siblings were already sitting there hungry and the most unpleasant thing was that the guests who came after us were already enjoying their food. It is very unfortunate that such a situation happened, unfortunately we left after half an hour. We showed in every way what we already wanted to order, but no one came and no one cleared the dirty dishes😔

The Schäufele is amazing and on Thursdays there is beer from a wooden barrel. Excellent

It is a pity that the waitresses in the city of Nuremberg are not so friendly. My children and I sat at a dirty table for 30 minutes. No one came to clean and order, although they saw us. Customers at nearby tables who arrived later received their orders before us. We tried to call the waiters, but they ignored us. I hope this is not related to the fact that we are Ukrainians. This opinion was formed because I heard that at least one waitress spoke Russian. In other cities, this chain of restaurants is very tasty and the service is high-quality. Please pay attention to the personnel of the city of Nuremberg. They do not behave correctly.

Hello, I was with you in 2022 as part of a business lunch (InterZoo). There was a lot going on back then, trade fair + peak season, I assume, so the service was a bit overwhelmed (hence only 4 stars). We were a group of 6 people at the time and everyone was very happy with the food. Great praise!! In January 2024 I was in Nuremberg with my wife. It took a while until I found you again, but I really wanted to come to you with my wife. What can I say, we were both thrilled. The food was sensational. The service was super fast, courteous and always with a quick saying on their lips. Ambience super cozy. Without seeming cheesy. We'll definitely be back!!! Best regards from Vienna

The restaurant is located right near the Tor. Good place to get food and drinks. The service was pretty good.

It falls within the typically tourist places. The dishes are identical to all the other places in the center of Nuremberg, except that this one is extremely expensive.
