Have to say, the service people are really friendly and take good care of each customer in a nice way. Atmosphere is quite good, not so noisy, you can still talk when you eat or drink.

The Augustiner am Platzl offers good Bavarian cuisine and a cozy atmosphere. Wait times can be a bit longer when it's busy, but overall, it's a solid Munich restaurant.

Finally, I got to eat the delicious pork knuckle as I wished. The skin was crispy and the meat was just right. The roast chicken was unexpectedly delicious. The gravy was fragrant when I took a bite. It was the best German restaurant I had in Munich.

For a true taste of Munich in a lively, traditional setting, Augustiner am Platzl is highly recommended. Prost!

I understand that it's Oktoberfest time and you're under a lot of stress, but politeness comes first. The waiter was extremely rude!

Despite having made a reservation and stating that we only wanted a drink, we were unfortunately constantly pressured to order something to eat. Our waiter kept making strange comments, which made our visit somewhat unpleasant. The furnishings and restrooms were ancient, and everything was unfortunately very worn. Bavarian and traditional charm can be found better elsewhere in Munich. So: a typical tourist trap and not for Munich residents. It ended for us when, without comment, a sign was placed on the table stating that the next reservation was for a short time later. Apparently, they wanted to get rid of us quickly. But we had already noticed that. We would have preferred them to have declined the reservation upfront, as they knew we only wanted a drink.

Anyone who comes here knows what they're getting, but today it's a no-brainer! Saving on the cheapest option: draft beer! Get a grip on this, it wasn't always like this!!!!

Great beer fun place and good service

Beautiful, excellent service, excellent dishes, even those enormous potato balls, which are beautiful to look at but are sticky, resulting in an incredible cork that falls down your esophagus, but you can definitely wash it down with a liter of beer. ;) The pork shank was excellent, and the pork ribs were wonderful, the best I've ever tasted. The fries were of excellent quality. Highly recommended.

Only tried the apple strudel here. Not a big fan of sausages so no clue about that here. Apple strudel was good, served with sauce and well layered. Service was great, but preferably call ahead to reserve a table if planning on going on a busy day.

We reserved a table well in advance and were really looking forward to it. The food and drinks were delicious. Then we were told that we would have to vacate the table after about two hours. Apparently, this was automatically communicated to us when we made the reservation, which is demonstrably not the case. The service was extremely rude and had no understanding of our displeasure. We had no reason to complain. A truly sad evening – never again at Augustiner am Platzl – I promise.

The three of us spontaneously got a seat around lunchtime. The menu features all sorts of typical Bavarian dishes. We opted for knuckle of pork and cheese spaetzle. The food was definitely decent and tasty. Since it's very centrally located, there are also a lot of tourists here.

We dropped in spontaneously without a reservation (during Oktoberfest season) and immediately got a table for four. The food and drinks were excellent and arrived very quickly! Every employee was friendly and accommodating. We would come back anytime!

This is a restaurant not a hotel. Convenient location slightly off the beaten path, just across the street from a famous beer hall. Friendly staff, good food. We ordered the curry wurst and the crispy pork. Careful with the crispy pork as the crispy bacon on top is crispy enough to break a tooth.

The waiter told us to leave the place because we wanted only beer without food. Extremely rude… Not to mention that we were ignored multiple times while waiting for the table and other people from the queue got the table immidiately. The place looked very nice and had a vibe. Very disappointing.

Here for Oktoberfest so take it from a yankee who is a bit tipsy. Food was good and service was superb. Cant give it the full 5 star but worth a meal!

I cannot recommend this restaurant. We experienced clear discrimination there – the waiter asked us to leave the table simply because we didn't order food immediately. We waited 40 minutes while other guests (without reservations) were admitted and served, but we were ignored the entire time. It was a very unpleasant and humiliating experience. Definitely not a place I would ever return to.

The alcohol-free Augustiner is incredible!

It's okay to linger and have a beer. The beer tastes good. The food is okay, the pork knuckle is okay for tourists, but my taste buds were on strike 😂 The roulade, honestly, you can forget about the cabbage 🤔 It wasn't Bavarian cuisine, more like mass-produced cabbage, something 😂 I miss the dumplings. Every comment is important, it's edible! Despite everything, full marks because it was fun and the service was top-top-top.

I was very disappointed with this restaurant. The server was unfriendly and even rude, which made the whole visit unpleasant. We also had to wait an extremely long time for our food, much longer than was acceptable. Unfortunately, it was a very bad experience – I certainly won't be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant.

First, we had to wait 30 minutes before an employee could/wanted to take our order. Sure, the beer was amazing, but you don't need to come here for the food. The Wiener schnitzel was a complete disappointment. It was completely greasy, and the breading was practically dripping with fat on top of the extremely tough veal. The whole thing was completely unloved and of inferior quality. A true tourist stop. The location, however, is, of course, centrally located next to the Hofbräuhaus. We won't be coming back.

The turnover is high, so you'll have to eat quickly. It's a pressure-packed restaurant. The food isn't anything special.

We are east asian. I went to this restaurant. I was asked if we have reservation and I said i didn’t have reservation. Then the waiter said “no”. Behind me, there were also two white people and they also said that they did not have reservation but the waiter let them go in. I think it is definitely racism and this kind of racism restaurants should not exist.

I'm rating the restaurant here, in fact: rooms = food; location = atmosphere. A typical German brasserie. We were seated quickly, despite not having a reservation (but at a table right in the middle of a walk-through...). The service, contrary to what some other reviews might suggest, was fast and efficient. As for the atmosphere, it's quite typical (both in terms of decor and the waiters' attire), but it's very noisy. On the other hand, the food was a big disappointment. The escalope munichoise (a Viennese pork schnitzel) was plain and greasy, with fries that were probably frozen. The rostbratwurstl were a real disappointment, tasteless and certainly not grilled. Real supermarket sausages thrown into a pan. The cabbage was far too seasoned and mustardy to be enjoyable. The beer was good, but it's never the quantity expected, always below... long live the foam! The glass of wine isn't accompanied by the expected glass of water. But no tip is expected.

Oh, I ordered tap water, and the guy brought me 0.25 liter of still water for €4. Absolutely insane.

I came last saturday and we tried the meatballs, which were very good. Our waiter (the one upstairs with the long beard) was very nice, he offered me a coffee even though the machine was already cleaned and he went out of his way to bring it to me. I hope we get in touch. Grazie

We were only there for dinner with colleagues, so I can't comment on the rooms. I wouldn't have chosen German cuisine myself, but I was definitely proven wrong – incredibly delicious food in generous portions, and plenty of vegan/vegetarian options too. The service was incredibly friendly and there was time for a chat and a joke, even though the place was full. Truly fantastic!

The food was mediocre at best. The service wasn’t bad, and the waiter was friendly. I suppose it’s a German tradition to let customers find their own tables, but they provide a piece of paper indicating a “reserved table at a specific time.” So, if you’re considering trying this place, be sure to check the time and give yourself enough time to order and eat.

We had a wonderful person serving us named Tom who readily gave us a table inside changed from outside due to cigarette smoke….he was easy to accommodate our requests of the food served and unexpectedly served us a complimentary dessert…Tom really made our evening dining here such a pleasant and memorable experience….he really delighted us with his excellent service and kindness and smile …pls ask for him to serve you on your visit …

I was able to enjoy a wonderful Augustiner Helles beer during my visit to the Augustiner am Platzl – fresh, slightly hoppy, and simply comforting. This was accompanied by a very tasty Obatzda (spicy, cheesy, and just as it should be). All together, it made for a wonderful snack in Munich that I thoroughly enjoyed. Next time, I'll definitely try the meatballs – I'm already looking forward to it.

Delicious beer. From 6 p.m. from wooden kegs.

The food and beer were truly excellent. However, sadly, we experienced discrimination. We arrived at the table first, and even though the waiter made eye contact with me and came to our table, he took the order from another group of a different ethnicity first (they themselves pointed out that we should be asked before them). When I asked for cutlery, he handed the container to the other group first rather than to us, and he never asked us about our food or gave us any explanation. Having lived abroad, I know that discrimination happens in perhaps 3 or 4 places out of 100, but it is deeply disappointing that such a famous establishment was one of them.

ordered Augutiner-Teller which contains of Schweinshaxe and Ente but instead got chicken and duck. Explained the waiter that we got chicken instead of pork leg, he said NO ITS PORK AND DUCK. i mean chicken leg and pork are VERY different in size!!! paid full prize. not very good experience

Very rustic, cozy food and of course the beer is great

Despite the restaurant being full, we were quickly seated at a large table. Considering that there were two of us. The menu, beer and payment were brought quickly. The girl who served us was polite and smiling. When passing by, she always asked if we needed anything. The only thing we didn't notice on the menu was that the portion was for two, and the price was per person. But it was delicious. The impressions were good. I recommend.

In our case, we had reserved a table for dinner at 8:30 p.m. The restaurant, a typical German restaurant, definitely lived up to our expectations. We ordered the cheesesteak and the wiener schnitzel, and we highly recommend it. As for the service from the waiters, it was unbeatable, which I'd like to emphasize doubly since the restaurant was packed and serving so many people can't be easy.

Worst experience in München. We were looking for a restaurant for have dinner and we found this place. At the beginning everything was normal, we were asigned on a table and ordered the drinks. The problem came when we ordered the main dishes, for starter we ordered the münchen sausages and it came without and problem. At the same time, we ask for the chicken and they take our order. We have been waiting for it around an hour, and when we asked what happened they said that there’s not more chicken, they didn’t tell us that before. So, we ordered another dish, and it finnished like the chicken, didn’t see it. In conclussion, we felt forgotten at this place. This restaurant is not like the others of the zone.

We were visiting Munich and had a very good meal at this restaurant. The service was extremely friendly and attentive; our waitress even gave us tips on which dishes to try. The knuckle of pork was beautifully crispy with a rich sauce, the roast beef with onions was tender and perfectly paired with spaetzle and red wine sauce. The meal was accompanied by an Augustiner Helles beer, simply a success all around. Highly recommended.

After a fantastic tour of the Kunsthalle, we rounded off the evening at the beautiful and cozy Augustiner am Platzl. The service from "Mo" was very, very good; it only took a few minutes from taking our order to the delivery of our delicious food and drinks. Keep it up 😃...

Right in the heart of the city, we enjoyed delicious Maßkrüge Augustiner, which are surprisingly affordable for such a central location. There was just one spot left on the terrace, right next to our friends at Augustiner, so we shared a table with a local in traditional costume—an unexpected, cozy experience that made the evening even more special. The atmosphere was truly unparalleled. While we sipped our beers, a group of men in traditional costume played live traditional Bavarian music. The cheerful melodies filled the room and made us feel like we were stepping back in time, to a Munich steeped in tradition and hospitality. The staff was friendly, the service prompt, and the combination of good beer, warm atmosphere, and music made this evening unforgettable. In short: if you're in Munich and want to enjoy quality beer, live music and pure Bavarian coziness, then Augustiner am Platzl should definitely be on your list.

Such a disgrace, you can't get in if you just want a drink. You HAVE to order something to eat to even get in...just a disgrace.

Today, we stopped by Platzl for an evening meal without a reservation, accompanied by four people. Nevertheless, we got a good table, the lightning-fast and friendly waiter took our order (only three dishes for four people), and what can I say... first-class knuckle of pork, sauerkraut, and of course, the beer – fantastic! We've tried many specialties on our tour through Bavaria, and this was the best! A definite recommendation!!! (and reasonable prices)

The lady at the entrance was very nice, as was our server. Unfortunately, our food didn't come together, but it tasted very good. The restaurant was very loud. Unfortunately, there's no special menu for children. The value for money is okay.

We went there for dinner as a family: two children and two adults. It took about seven minutes from the reception at the entrance to the first drink. We ordered the food along with the drinks, and it arrived shortly after. The service was friendly and checked several times that we weren't lacking anything. Simply fantastic! I don’t know why the Augustiner am Platzl is listed as a hotel here, when most people (like us) refer to the restaurant in their reviews. Anyways, my rating for “Rooms” actually refers to the quality of the food. Overall, we really enjoyed our recent lunch here and were positively surprised, as the meal was better than some restaurants in the surroundings (e.g., Hofbräuhaus). I went for the oven-fresh roast pork with crispy crust, which is served with Augustiner dark beer sauce, two potato dumplings and cabbage salad. My lunch companion had the Brathendl mit Pommes (1/2 Augustiner grilled chicken with French fries). Both dishes were delicious but the roast was the highlight, with the pork being very tender and cooked to perfection, and the dumplings and sauce complementing the meat beautifully. The portion sizes are very generous, so that we struggled - but succeeded - to finish our meals. It goes without saying that the beer is top notch too, with fresh Augustiner being served here, very close to the source. The service was friendly and the food arrived quickly. Compared to the Augustinerkeller, which we had visited the evening before, the Augustiner am Platzl was definitely better.
