Augustin Restaurant Cologne in Köln

Das Personal war sehr herzlich und zuvorkommend, der Service war insgesamt top. Das Essen war geschmackvoll und gut gewürzt – ein Nachwürzen war nicht nötig. Das Ambiente ist eine gelungene Mischung aus rustikal und schick. Die Atmosphäre war sehr angenehm. Das Restaurant ist relativ groß, mit etwa 70 Sitzplätzen im Innenbereich und rund 90 Sitzplätzen im Außenbereich. Wir saßen drinnen und das Restaurant war gut besucht bzw. ausgebucht. Die Lautstärke war dementsprechend recht hoch. Ich würde jedem ans Herz legen, früh genug zu reservieren. Wir haben bereits einen Monat im Voraus reserviert und standen zunächst auf der Warteliste, bis schließlich ein Tisch frei wurde. Die Parkmöglichkeiten vor Ort gestalten sich etwas schwierig.

Wir besuchten dieses Restaurant erstmals aufgrund der FineDine Box. Beim Betreten des Innenhofs waren wir positiv überrascht von dem unerwartet ansprechenden Ambiente. Den Innenraum nahm ich erst bei meinem ersten Toilettengang wahr, welcher sich als gelungen erwies. Einen ersten positiven Eindruck hinterließ der Brotkorb. Er war reichlich bestückt und bot eine großzügige Auswahl an Aufstrichen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das Basilikumöl. Wir entschieden uns für das Menü und waren vom ersten und zweiten Gang begeistert. Im ersten Gang nahmen wir eine ungewöhnliche Geschmacksnote wahr, welche das Gericht besonders machte. Auf Nachfrage beim Service konnte dieser diese nicht identifizieren und wollte in der Küche nachfragen. Obwohl er nicht zurückkehrte, bestätigte er später auf Nachfrage, dass es sich um frischen Estragon handelte. Dieser erwies sich als äußerst geschmackvoll. (Leider habe ich vom ersten Gang kein Foto gemacht.) Das zweite Gericht zeichnete sich durch die Besonderheit des (rohen) Fisches und der weiteren Bestandteile aus. Jedoch fehlte hier ein besonderes Element, welches das Gericht abgerundet hätte. Die weiteren Gänge konnten mich persönlich geschmacklich nicht überzeugen. Es fehlte ihnen das gewisse Etwas. Die Portionsgrößen sind im Vergleich zu anderen Restaurants der gleichen Preisklasse größer. Bezüglich des Service bin ich hin und hergerissen. Alle Mitarbeiter waren äußerst freundlich, jedoch wurden wir gelegentlich übersehen und es dauerte einige Zeit, bis jemand an unseren Tisch kam, um beispielsweise nachzufüllen. Dies wirkte etwas unaufmerksam. Die Weinberatung war äußerst kompetent, da versteht jemand etwas von seinem Job. Wir besuchten das Restaurant an einem außergewöhnlich heißen Tag und hätten uns eine kostenlose Bereitstellung von Wasser gewünscht. Diese Praxis ist jedoch in Deutschland leider nicht üblich. Ich bin mir derzeit noch nicht sicher, ob wir das Augustin erneut besuchen werden.

Wir haben unsere Hochzeit Anfang Juni dort gefeiert. Wir blicken immer noch auf den schönsten Tag unseres Lebens zurück, an der ein ganz großer Teil das Augustin-Team mit dazu beigetragen hat das es auch wirklich zu einem perfekten Tag wurde. Das Ambiente, Personal sowie die Menüs waren Spitzenklasse. Das Essen war ein Traum und unsere Gäste waren sehr begeistert. Danke euch für diesen unvergesslichen, tollen Tag! Wir haben jeden einzelnen von euch in unser Herz geschlossen. ❤️ Ich kann euch sehr für Veranstaltungen, Hochzeiten und Geburtstage weiter empfehlen. Wir werden nun jeden Hochzeitstag bei euch verbringen. 🥰

Das ambiente im Kolpinghaus war angenehm, ein bischen zu dunkel und zu laut aber völlig noch im rahmen. Beim Service war es leider manchmal zu laut damit der Service versteht was man bestellen möchte und wir uns oft wiederholen mussten. Zudem wurden verschiedene Personen beim Servieren eingesetzt und dabei wurde nicht immer alles sauber abgeräumt damit man wieder platz hat. Die Zeit zwischen Apero, dem Couvert Brot und der Vorspeise war für uns zu schnell. Plötzich stand alles fast gleichzeitig auf dem Tisch und dann hat man keine Zeit um es so zu geniessen. Dies sollte in dieser Preisklasse bischen besser funktionieren. Die speisen an sich Vorspeisen, Hauptgänge, Käse Dessert waren sehr lecker.

Sehr leckeres Essen, das schmackhaft angerichtet ist. Freundlicher und zuvorkommender Service. Schönes Ambiente. Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Immer ein Besuch wert. Hatte Himmel un Äd als Hauptspeise. Etwas ungewöhnlich zubereitet, mit Pilzen. Hat trotzdem gut geschmeckt. Weinempfehlung sehr gut.

Versteckt in den engen Gassen Kölns, ist dieses Restaurant definitiv einen Besuch wert, wenn Sie ein gehobenes kulinarisches Erlebnis suchen. Sehr freundlicher und persönlicher Service, qualitativ hochwertige Speisen zu fairen Preisen und ein gemütliches Ambiente. Wir saßen drinnen, aber das absolute Highlight ist der charmante Innenhof!

Das Essen war hervorragend, qualitativ und geschmacklich auf sehr hohem Niveau. Leider konnte der Service damit nicht mithalten. Trotz Reservierung bekamen wir einen Tisch in unmittelbarer Nähe der Toiletten. Wir mussten lange auf unser Essen warten, und während des gesamten Abends wurde nicht aktiv nach uns geschaut, leere Getränke wurden nicht bemerkt, wir mussten selbst bestellen. Besonders negativ fiel auf, dass bei einer Getränkebestellung nur meine Begleitung beachtet wurde und ich erst nachträglich selbst darauf hinweisen musste. Insgesamt hatten wir den Eindruck, weniger Aufmerksamkeit zu erhalten als andere Gäste. Das sollte in einem Restaurant dieser Preusklasse keinesfalls passieren. Auch eine Verabschiedung beim Gehen blieb aus.

Ich wurde zwar schnell für meine 18:30-Uhr-Reservierung platziert, aber das Vier-Gänge-Menü und die Rechnung ließen bis 21:15 Uhr auf sich warten. Das Restaurant hat vier Stunden geöffnet; ich war mehr als die Hälfte der Öffnungszeiten dort. Ist das nicht unglaublich?

Light and shadow. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with pleasant lighting and lovely rooms. The food—we had the five-course menu—was well-prepared and would have tasted great. Unfortunately, most of the dishes arrived piping hot, as the service was overwhelmed and somewhat chaotically organized. It's a shame; it could have been a wonderful evening, but unfortunately, the price-performance ratio wasn't right.

Disappointing, even without having any expectation. We left half way through the set menu because it wasn’t worthy of the few hours we had before the New Year. Food was sub par at best. Service friendly. Wine choice decent. Happy to pay up so we could leave early and enjoy somewhere else for the last few hours of 2025.!

In this case – unfortunately, I'm a very good cook… The tartar appetizer was under-seasoned, and the sauce was bitter. The main course, the redfish, was good for a supposedly high-end senior living facility. The service was absolutely top-notch, glitz and glamour. The ambiance was unique!

Als frühere "Astrein-Gäste" haben wir uns auch im Augustin sehr wohl gefühlt.

We went to Augistin for dinner on a recommendation. The food was okay, but not as special or delicious as we had hoped. The service was excellent and attentive. Two things were really bothersome. 1. The restaurant's lighting is cold and uninviting. The otherwise beautiful room is illuminated from above with cold light, making it uncomfortable and tiring. The space offers so much potential, but unfortunately, it's not being utilized. 2. A very high-pitched, loud beeping sound regularly came from the direction of the bar, which was disruptive and annoying. We mentioned it to the staff, and they told us that several other guests had already noticed it, but they themselves couldn't hear it. Nothing further was done about it. We wouldn't eat there again and unfortunately can't recommend it.

We had an exceptional dining experience at Augustin. The atmosphere is beautiful and elegant, especially with the historic building and the greenery outside. The food was outstanding. The beef tartare was one of the best I have ever tried, and the cheese selection was truly special. There is even a dedicated person who guides you through the cheeses, which made the experience feel thoughtful and unique. It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed food of this quality. Service was warm, attentive, and professional, without being overwhelming. This restaurant is a real gem. Highly recommended — we would definitely return.

Sehr schöne Lokation. Wir hatten eine sehr leckeres Abendessen u.a. eine hervorragende Scholle Finkenwerder Art. Da das Restaurant sehr gut besucht war, dauerte die Essenzubereitung etwas länger. Hierfür wurden wir mit einem sehr leckeren Nachtisch „getröstet“. Wir kommen ganz bestimmt wieder.

Excellent service and excellent food of a high standard. Casual and great atmosphere. We've been there twice now, and unfortunately, it was disappointing. We had the 4-course menu, but unfortunately, the main course and dessert weren't particularly good. The pear in the dessert was far too hard, and the vanilla ice cream had no flavor. The venison in the main course was unfortunately a bit tough. A shame.

A wonderful restaurant with great service and fantastic food. We spent the evening here with our trade fair team and are very grateful that the restaurant was open especially for the Anuga trade fair on this Monday. Many thanks to the entire team! It was truly a lovely evening.

We had an entertaining and very pleasant evening yesterday with a small group at Augustin. Overall, the food and service impressed us all. We just see some potential for improvement with the wine list, especially in the mid-price range.

Ein wirklich nettes Restaurant mit sehr guter Küche und ohne Pinzetten Akrobatik auf dem Teller. Mit 8 Personen konnten wir sowohl a la carte als auch Menu an unserem Tisch auswählen. Allen hat es sehr gut geschmeckt. Unsere Bedienung war sehr, sehr nett und immer zur Verfügung. Angenehm ist auch der genügende Platz zwischen den Tischen. Da werden wir sicher gerne wieder hingehen.

I spent a wonderful evening at Augustin! The service was absolutely top-notch!

The price-performance ratio is optimal. The ambience with the chandeliers is worth seeing. The only downside is that the noise level takes some getting used to, as the location is in demand.

One Saturday evening in September 2025, I was at Augustin with friends and was unfortunately extremely disappointed by the service. The lack of a wine list, the long wait times, the poor service, and my requests for minor details, such as not wanting Camembert or any other soft cheese of that kind in the cheese platter for dessert, were ignored. When I asked what was on the plate, the answers left much to be desired. Unfortunately, the restaurant's expectations were not met, even though the food itself was solidly good. Here and there, I felt that special element was missing—the thing that would have made the duck memorable.

Nice ambiance, but the tables were unfortunately far too small. Service was attentive, but a bit uncoordinated. We waited forever for a Kölsch beer. The food tasted good, but my veal liver was very firm... Everything was beautifully presented.

Yesterday, I sat in this vaulted room, richly adorned with chandeliers, for the first time and enjoyed an extraordinary meal. In addition to a variety of dishes, a 3- and 4-course menu is offered, both coherently selected. I opted for four courses and began with homemade bread with spreads and oils. This was followed by a salmon and amberjack fish roll with delicately balanced garnishes in various textures. After that came a piece of Bresse chicken, the preparation of which was so ingenious that not only the quality of the meat but also the chef's knowledge must be exceptional. The main course was an excellently prepared lamb crépinette. Dishes in pork netting aren't really my thing, but here I'll make an exception: Excellent. However, I personally felt that the brunoise that topped this oriental-inspired dish lacked some spice. The dessert, at first, didn't seem to be what the menu suggested. When I asked, I was given a precise explanation of why I was wrong, based on the ingredients brought to the table. I've never experienced anything like this before, and I'd like to highlight this particular step by the kitchen. Overall, I'm more than satisfied. The service is humorous, responsive, and, despite the busy restaurant, always remarkably friendly. Four stars for ambience, as the restaurant is quite noisy, and I noticed several tables in the background with mis en place protected by tablecloths, as well as furniture that had been set aside.

The food was exceptional, but what really stood out was the service. My reservation was for 6pm as they opened, so it was a bit quiet but getting busier as the evening went on.

Das Restaurant war gut besetzt und dann ist es recht laut, was dem hohen Raum und Gebäude geschuldet sein dürfte. Von außen ist es nicht leicht zu erkennen, da dürfte die Beschilderung etwas auffälliger sein. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend und kommen gerne wieder.

Very nice restaurant in the former Hoppers. Unfortunately, you're only allowed to sit outside if you order food. Since we only had drinks, we had to stay inside despite the beautiful summer weather.

All our wishes were fulfilled without question, and our friends from Finland also felt very comfortable there. We made a reservation through OpenTable and got a perfect seat.

Ein wunderbarer Abend. Der Innenhof ist einladend, das Essen großartig und der Service zuvorkommend. Ein perfekter Abend, wenn es mal besonders sein soll.

We visited Augustin for the first time on May 22nd with four people. Everything was perfect: very good and plentiful food (and therefore good value for money, which is rare for a restaurant of this class), excellent drinks, a fantastic atmosphere, and great service, with whom you could even have a casual chat. We'll be back!

Wir waren am Sonntag zu viert im Augustin essen. Haben einen Platz im netten Innenhof bekommen. Service gut und sehr bemüht, aufgrund der Anzahl der Gäste etwas unterbesetzt. Vorspeise war sehr lecker, die Blutwurstpastete ausgefallen. Die Hauptspeisen, sowohl Fisch als auch Fleisch waren sehr gut und schön mit Gemüse abgestimmt. Nachspeise haben wir uns geteilt, auch hier ausgefallene Kombi mit Creme Brulee, selbstgemachtes Eis, und Erdbeeren. Weinauswahl stimmig und auch preislich in Ordnung. Wir haben einen tollen Luganer getrunken. War ein stimmiger Abend, Augustin ist zu empfehlen.

So ein wunderschönes Ambiente, mit aufmerksamem Personal. Man fühlt sich als Gast willkommen und umsorgt, ohne das es aufdringlich wird. Sehr leckeres Essen, tolle Weine. Ungezwungen und doch so gut. Ich komme wieder!!!

Insgesamt ein sehr schöner Abend. Leider ist Akustik noch etwas laut, auch wenn man sich mit Absorbern unter den Tischen schon bemüht hat. Die Architektur ist diesbezüglich ja auch wirklich nicht ganz einfach.. Unsere Empfehlung wären noch zusätzliche Vorhänge. Bei vollem Haus ist die Unterhaltung etwas anstrengend. Ansonsten aber großes Lob an das gesamte Team einschließlich Küche.

Disappointing and totally not recommended - a ruined birthday We chose the Augustin restaurant in Cologne to celebrate my 50th birthday in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately the evening was a bitter disappointment. Despite prior agreement, no menu was possible - something that was promised to us in advance. No solution could be offered for our children either, although we had also addressed this in good time. Unfortunately, the team on site was completely uncooperative. Neither our wishes were taken into account nor an attempt was made to make anything possible on this special day for us. There was no friendliness or flexibility. In the end we left frustrated and without eating - what had been a romantic evening turned into a negative experience that we will unfortunately remember for a long time. What a shame!

I was able to enjoy a beautiful evening in the pretty courtyard with a colleague at the end of April, when it was still a warm evening in Cologne. I found the Augustin on the internet, it was within walking distance of the hotel and the picture of the inner courtyard piqued my interest in being able to sit outside. There was something special about the sturdy seating in the ivy-covered courtyard. Courteous service, not intrusive, but always there when you needed it. The food with seasonal asparagus was very good. My French colleague also really liked it.

First: somehow you have the feeling that the dining room simply cannot score in winter. One side is glazed towards the hotel reception (with an incredibly annoying fireplace running across a screen), the other side is separated by a curtain. And walking through the large entrance door always feels a little like you're sitting in the hallway. Nevertheless, there is a cozy atmosphere, but this is clearly due to the warm and friendly service. He is available to give advice and support, always knowledgeable, always friendly – ​​great! The food can't quite keep up, it's good, but not particularly good and seems to fall a little short of its own standards. You can spend a nice evening at Augustin, but for special occasions I would look for another location despite the good service.

This was quite possibly the worst breakfast brunch i have ever had! Whilst the service was good, and it was a very calm atmosphere, the food was lacking in quantity, and what was there was of very poor quality. The only hot options were bland eggs, with no flavour, and chipolata sausages which were swimming in grease. The cold meats and cheese selection was very poor, and considering it was €22, i think this place needs to up their game considerably if the want to be fine dining contenders.

We went for the champagne brunch, and I have to say, we were pretty disappointed, the price-performance ratio wasn't right for us.

Great evening at Augustin! The food was, as expected, excellent. We were particularly impressed by the great service surrounding the meal, which made the evening perfect and courteous.

We were 5 people, for the first visit to this restaurant. The menu was very interesting. I had sea urchin mouse, with lobster, served in a sea urchin shell. Very different indeed! For my main course, I selected , black pudding, with apple, onions, and mushrooms which was served with creamed potatoes, a classic, which was so good. I wish that I had asked what variety of potato had been used, as they were absolutely delicious. I could have just eaten the creamed potatoes, on there own! One of our party had a question with her dessert. The query, was quickly and very professionally sorted. That's what I call service. The food was excellent, service polite and friendly, all in all a great evening. Looking forward to my next visit.

The food was very tasty and was presented in a very visually appealing way. I found the sea urchin stuffed with lobster particularly exciting. Nevertheless, I had the impression that there was still something missing in terms of taste for all courses, also in view of the price. I liked the location, although that's certainly a matter of taste. Service was very friendly. However, when I ordered, I was promised that the menu price would not change even though I wanted to swap a course for a dish from the menu. Unfortunately, things looked different in the end...

We had a great and delicious evening in the Augustin restaurant. The atmosphere was fantastic, super cozy and, above all, not too loud. We decided against the suggested multi-course menu and chose two dishes from the menu. The bread as a starter and the cremant as an aperitif were very tasty. The sea urchin was an absolutely new taste experience for me, great! The recommended wines for the dishes were very good. Instead of dessert there was a fine, 10 year old port wine. There was nothing wrong with the service either. Quick and very hard working. Thank you for the great evening, which we would like to repeat on the terrace in the summer :).

Very friendly service and very good food. Individual wishes are implemented without any problem. The rooms are high, walls and ceilings painted in anthracite (dark). The chairs are a bit uncomfortable for slightly corpulent guests. The food makes up for the gloomy ambience.

Ideal place to be pampered in a great atmosphere. We enjoyed the 4-course menu without wine because of Dry January. Alternative non-alcoholic aperitifs were very creative and convincing.

Wir waren total begeistert. Wir hatten als Vorspeise die Bouillabaise die perfekte abgeschmeckt war. Die Seeigel mit Hummer ein ausgewöhnlich leckeres Experiment. We celebrated our civil wedding in December at Restaurant Augustin with our family over lunch and were completely thrilled! The food was a real treat for the palate and the eye. The main course and the pistachio mousse were absolute highlights and were praised effusively by our guests. The wine selection also matched the menu perfectly. The atmosphere was very tasteful and cozy, so we immediately felt at home. The service was excellent – ​​attentive and always helpful. A very special thank you goes to Daria, who actively supported us in the planning and worked with us to put together a menu that thrilled us and our guests. We can highly recommend the Augustin Restaurant Cologne for celebrations of all kinds!

Tolles Essen, tolles Service, tolles Weinkarte, tolles alles, you must go!

Als erklärte Fans von Eric Werner waren wir etwas enttäuscht. Die Location ist zwar groß, aber sehr schön und die Crew war unfassbar freundlich und aufmerksam. Da konnte das Essen leider nicht mithalten: wir hatten das Tatar, das aus drei kleinen, in Salat eingewickelten Röllchen bestand, die sich in einem Jus befanden, der eine extreme Säurenote hatte. Die Blutwurst im Himmel und Ääd war sehr schmackhaft, die Waldpilze dazu fand ich jedoch nicht passend- dafür fehlte mir der Apfel, der nur in kleinen rohen Stücken über die Waldpilze gestreut war. Das Tellerbild war überhaupt nicht ansprechend- die Zutaten waren einfach auf einen übervollen Teller „geschaufelt“ worden. Die Bouillabaise hingegen war hervorragend. Alles in allem hatten wir uns eine etwas raffiniertere, feinere Küche vorgestellt.

In fact I have to say the food was just ok. The chestnut soup was extremely tasty, as was the celery, but the other dishes such as the halibut, the gnocchi and the duck were not particularly special. The price-performance ratio wasn't right. The service, however, was extremely friendly.
