A wonderful little restaurant for steak and pasta. Enjoyed a great meal this All Saints evening with my family. Possibly the best steak I've ever had. Compliments to the chef. The staff were so welcoming despite our complete inability to speak German. The venue itself is also lovely. Thoroughly recommended.

This is where you can find the best Wiener Schnitzel outside of Vienna. The drinks are also quite good.

Since the change of ownership, the restaurant has been declining rapidly. The regular clientele that the previous owner painstakingly built up through good service, good food, and reasonable prices no longer goes there. Prices are skyrocketing, and service is only good when Dirk, the soul of the place, is there. Otherwise, you have to fight for the waiter's attention to reorder drinks. And if there are no customers after 10:00 PM, you'll be rudely ushered out of the restaurant, despite the 11:00 PM opening hours. Because of the prices, and we've been regulars for a good 15 years, we'd been going there less often anyway, but since today, never again. Such a shame. Alternative: Go to Schmitze Lang on Severinstraße.

We ate at Rheinau for the first time in a while. It was fantastic again! We'll definitely be back soon.

The waiter was very friendly, and the food was really good. The fried potatoes were delicious and crispy, just as they should be. Unfortunately, we found it too late, as we were only there on vacation.

A great restaurant in the heart of Cologne's Südstadt district. The food was excellent, and the service was also enjoyable – the good mood immediately rubbed off on you. We sat outside and loved the ambiance with the many plants. Anyone looking for a successful evening with excellent food will definitely find what they're looking for here :)

Delicious food, at reasonable prices. Fairly small restaurant, reservations are probably recommended if you want to be sure of your place. Friendly service. Correct settlement. It is not really located in a tourist area, which is an advantage for me.

Our first evening in Cologne and... a direct hit 😃. The food was great and the service was really nice and uncomplicated. The menu was surprisingly extensive for the size of the restaurant. Since almost all the tables were occupied (even with a large group), it was a little louder, but cheerful and still cozy. We'd love to come back!!

Overall, the Rheinau is a restaurant with delicious food, great service and a rustic ambience. Pasta in different versions, with meat, fish but also vegetarian dishes. Very tasty sauces and everything beautifully presented. I hope that the concept will remain in place after the change of ownership. Nice outdoor area to sit outside in the summer.

I am completely satisfied. It was tasty, people were friendly and it was clean. That's more than enough for me in a relaxed, cozy restaurant in Cologne's old town. However, if you expect the edge between medium/through to be hit 100% every time, you should go somewhere else from the start.

Richtig lecker war's. Wir hatten Hot Chili Garnelen und das Kalbshüftsteak mit Rösti. Auch der Wein war gut. Freundlicher Service. Unbedingte Empfehlung.

Very nice restaurant, excellent service. Unfortunately disappointed that the fried potatoes came out of the package. Think about it, you go to a restaurant to have a special experience, the potatoes in the package don't fit, I don't eat them at home either. Everything else was perfect.

A very nice restaurant in Cologne. Waitress 2 was very friendly and polite. The food was there within 15 minutes and tasted fantastic (kudos to the chef). The piece of meat was grilled perfectly and was adapted to my request. In summary, this restaurant is worth a visit and the food is fabulous. The waitress was very helpful took care of our needs, that's why 5 stars in my opinion.

With 414 previous reviews, it's certainly not an insider tip - but still a very good choice. The menu is not huge, but it is absolutely sufficient and very well pre-selected, so that the decision in the end takes longer... Afterwards there is a good meal in a pleasant environment, served by very friendly and attentive staff.

Ob zu zweit oder in einer größeren Gruppe, im Rheinau fühle ich mich immer sehr wohl! Der Service ist nett und zuvorkommend, das Essen sehr lecker und liebevoll angerichtet. Das Bier schmeckt, der Wein auch! ...und man kann bei Wind und Wetter draußen sitzen, da der Aussenbereich gut organisiert und auch geschützt ist! Absolut empfehlenswert!

Nettes kleines Restaurant mit leckeren frischen Speisen. Hier dreht sich alles um Nudeln mit guter Ergänzung durch Gemüse, Fleisch, Fisch und Käse. Auch der Salat schmeckt sehr lecker. Der Service ist unaufgeregt aufmerksam. Der Aussenbereich ist jetzt nicht unbedingt gemütlich, aber okay.

Ich komme hier sehr oft, aber meine Erfahrungen sind sehr gemischt. Das Essen ist köstlich, das Personal ist bemüht und die Getränke kommen auch schnell, aber wenn man Pech hat, muss man für das Essen echt lange warten. Ich verstehe, dass alles frisch zubereitet wird, aber ich habe durchschnittlich mindestens eine halbe Stunde auf das Essen warten müssen, und gestern (10.08.2023) waren sogar 40 Minuten. Ich finde, es wäre halb so schlimm, wenn der Kellner schon bei der Bestellannahme 'vorwarnen' und nach der Rechnung vielleicht einen Schnaps aufs Haus anbieten würde - das wäre echt eine nette Geste. Aber während der gesamten Wartezeit nichts zu sagen, nicht mal, wenn die Speisen endlich fertig sind und serviert werden, das finde ich nicht in Ordnung. Außerdem tun mir die €7,50 für eine Flasche Sprudelwasser immer noch im Herzen weh.

Lecker war früher! Lange Zeit eines unserer Lieblingsrestaurants. Leider hat der Koch gewechselt. Wir sind mit dem Essen nicht mehr zufrieden.

Dies war sicherlich mein letzter Besuch..Ich hatte heute das Steak mit Champion und Weißwein Soße...Medium gewünscht...Leider wurde der Gargrad verfehlt..Ich bekam ein neues Stück Fleisch...Gargrad medium könnte man so grade durch gehen lassen...leider hat das Stück Fleisch geschmacklich den frische Grad ganz weit verfehlt , um es noch nett auszudrücken...Das teilte ich dem Kellner mit. Er entschuldigte sich und sagte das er das Essen von der Rechnung nehmen würde...soweit so gut..später beim Bezahlen ,der"Chef",wollte uns nicht abkassieren,sagte der Kellner ,er dürfte das Essen nicht von der Rechnung nehmen. Anweisung vom Chef...Angeblich hat das Fleisch nicht schlecht gerochen..probiert hat es nur keiner....so behandelt man kein Gast ...

Gemütliches Ambiente, auch gut zum draußen Sitzen (zu jeder Jahreszeit). Essen ist köstlich, Preis-Leistungsverhältnis auf jeden Fall angemessen (Man wird gut satt von den Portionen). Service ist super freundlich und unkompliziert. Es kommen viele Stammgäste, auch wir bestellen hier regelmäßig unser Lieblingsgericht (Schweinefilet mit Pflaumenrotweinsoße).

The restaurant is five minutes walking from Novotel Hotel on Byenstrasse. We went for dinner and ordered spaghetti with vegetables and Steak toped with parmesan cheese. The Steak was excellent, juicy and perfectly cooked accompanied with mashed potatoes and veggies. The spaghetti was little dry but nicely cooked. The service is bit slow and we had to wait about half hour to get the food even though the restaurant was not full. The price of each dish is very reasonable.

Super Essen, super Personal und super Preis- Leistungsverhältnis!

Ich war heute Mal wieder im Rheinau und habe fantastisch gegessen. Leber "Berliner Art" leckeres Kartoffelpüree dazu. Perfekt gebraten, sehr zart. Also ich komme bald wieder. Dankeschön :-) Ein extrem charmanter Laden mit freundlichen Personal kleine Fehler mit einem Lächeln alles verzeihen lassen, Essen auf Kneipenniveau, Salate könnten schöner sein, aber der Laden war gerammelt voll und das sagt genug. Weiter so, lecker war's auf jeden Fall und der Wein ist auch nicht null8/15. Toll!!!

Alles in allem sehr angenehmes Restaurant. Ambiente, Speisen Angebot und Bedingung gibt ein rundes Bild ab. Preislich eher im gehobenen mittleren Bereich angesiedelt, aber aus meiner Sicht gerechtfertigt. Für einen Besuch auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.

The atmosphere war really nice, but the service was superb. They were children friendly and the food was really really good. We ordered the tiger shrimps als vorspeise, that was really tasty. We ordered some pasta dishes, pork, and chicken. Everything very delicious. We felt relaxed and happy. After a whole day walking around, visiting places... we needed a place with delicious food to recover. Thanks for the very nice time.

Wieder sehr gut gegessen im Rheinau: Hatten Hähnchenstreifen mit Gemüse auf Gnocchi mit Balsamicosauce (sehr würzig) und von der Tageskarte Pfifferlinge auf Linguini (auch lecker)! Service sehr aufmerksam (bot uns noch an, den Tisch zu wechseln, als draußen etwas frei wurde) und flott. Ein schöner Abend!

Super nett und super schnell. Kleine Eckgaststätte/ Kneipe. Essen und Getränke kamen super schnell und haben sehr gut geschmeckt. (Gegessen würde 1x Steak und 1x Spagetti Carbonara) auch das Personal erkundigte sich mehrmals ob alles in Ordnung sei. Allgemein in einer scheinbar sehr ruhigen Ecke gelegen dadurch kann man auch sehr entspannt draußen sitzen. Das Ambiente ist zwanglos und eignet sich super für ein spontanes Essen.
