Today I want to share a truly annoying experience at a Turkish restaurant here in Germany. My boyfriend and I ordered a total of 40 euros. The restaurant actually offered a small side dish, but only one was brought to our table. When we politely asked for the second one for my boyfriend, they gave us a completely nonsensical explanation: 'Those who eat a doner kebab don't get a side dish; they're only available for those who eat grilled dishes or kebabs.' That was truly absurd. Nevertheless, we asked for the second side dish, which they then brought us. In the end, however, we discovered that this 'side dish' had been cheekily added to the bill. This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable and shows that this restaurant clearly lacks any understanding of customer service. We will definitely highlight this in our Google review.

We ordered two lahmacun. The salad was very bad. We complained and received new ones. The tea wasn't good. The price for two people was €26. Therefore, only two stars. And the wait was very long for two lahmacun.

Most of the waiters seem annoyed, unfriendly, and only provide good service to Turkish guests like themselves. Other nationalities, however, are treated with disapproval, especially Black Muslims. Asil Urfa Essen Altendorf (Aziz Usta) is running an absolute scam. I accidentally entered their parking lot, thinking it was BITS public parking. There were no clear signs indicating it was private or belonged to the restaurant. As soon as I drove in, the gate shut behind me and I was stuck. When I went inside to explain the honest mistake, they refused to open the gate unless I paid €20 — even though I wasn’t a customer and never intended to park there. This is nothing but a money trap. It’s clear they’re using this setup as a shady way to make extra cash by taking advantage of confused drivers. No understanding, no flexibility — just pay or stay locked in. This is not how a legitimate business operates. It’s dishonest, greedy, and deeply unprofessional. Avoid this place entirely — there are plenty of restaurants in Essen that don’t extort people at the gate.

That was my last visit. The kebab was salty, and the waitress was overwhelmed, even handing out the menu. The taste isn't what it used to be. A shame.

We went to your restaurant with our family today – unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. Upon arrival, the surroundings were anything but inviting: garbage bags were lying around everywhere, and rats and mice were roaming between the neighboring restaurants. Our children were terrified to even enter the restaurant. The food was also unacceptable. We had ordered a grilled platter, but some of the meat – especially the chicken – was raw. A soup we would have also liked was unavailable. The waiters seemed overwhelmed and, unfortunately, weren't very friendly in their interactions with us. The service overall left a lot to be desired. In the end, we paid 90 euros even though we could barely eat anything. The plates went back to the kitchen almost untouched – just as full as they had been served. Overall, this visit was a huge disappointment. I hope you take this feedback seriously and work on the issues mentioned so that other guests can have a better experience.

This place has by far the best kebab. Very well seasoned and NO pressed minced meat. If you still have room after your meal, you should definitely try the rice pudding 🥰 The yogurt and ezme are a 10/10. You can really order anything from the menu here, because everything tastes amazing. Parking is available in front of the shop (with a parking disc) or free of charge at the back.

Yesterday (June 22, 2025) late in the evening, the three of us went to Asil Urfa on Altendorfer Straße, and it was another disappointment. Somehow, we haven't learned from this, and one could—no—one should say: it's our own fault! We ordered the following: 1 doner roll with mixed salad, no sauce, no spicy sauce, 2 chicken skewers without grilled pepperoni and grilled tomatoes, with fries, but the meat should be cooked thoroughly. The doner roll arrived within minutes, but the entire roll was so hot that you couldn't even touch the foil-wrapped doner roll, even though aluminum foil is a poor or weak conductor of heat. So, it was pre-sliced ​​doner meat that had been subsequently heated in the contact grill, albeit the entire roll, including the salad. After two bites of the roll, I asked the waiter to take it away because the meat was completely dried out, the salad was warm, and it had yogurt sauce (cacık), which I didn't want. After a while, my companions received their food, but I was already finished. These dishes were also not prepared as ordered, similar to the doner roll: ordered without yogurt sauce, but prepared with it. One chicken skewer was cooked through, but with grilled vegetables; the other was without grilled vegetables and almost raw. Only a piece of the raw chicken skewer was cut and completely untouched. The chicken skewer, which was cooked through, but with grilled vegetables instead of without, was eaten by my companion, laughing, until he noticed a hair in his food. That's human nature and can happen, so he removed the hair. However, he found a second and then a third hair in the plate. That's unacceptable! We called the waiter and confronted him about what had happened, and he said he would call the owner to the table. After waiting for 10 minutes and repeatedly making eye contact with the waiter, the manager came to our table. He said he was sorry and that this shouldn't have happened, but refused to refund the food we had already paid for, which was returned almost untouched. He said we should come back and see him and he would give us a free meal, which we will definitely not do—ever again. Mistakes happen, but bad service is a no-go!

There were no sauces, no spicy sauce, nothing! Despite repeated requests, we ended up only getting "Acı Ezme" instead of sauce. A quick side note: the restaurant wasn't even full. Even the other customers complained loudly about the tall waiter. This restaurant is definitely not worth recommending, and we will definitely not be coming back. 👎

The side dishes – such as the freshly prepared salads, the oven-warm bread and the aromatic sauces – were also a real enrichment to the main course. Everything seemed fresh and prepared with attention to detail. The service was outstanding: friendly, attentive and pleasantly unobtrusive. Questions about the dishes were answered competently, and special requests were also fulfilled without any problems. Overall, we felt like we were in good hands. I am from California and just ate a very delicious meal at this restaurant. The food was truly outstanding, probably the best in its class which I have eaten. I ate a mixed meat grill plate and every flavor was perfect. We also ordered a cheese pide for our kids and they loved it. Only problem was I ate so much I was too full to order the desert I wanted to try. I would absolutely recommend!

Almost 5 months ago I ate an Adana there that was full of cartilage Been there again 1 month later and the same thing again, now recently ordered a Dürüm that wasn't even rolled properly and I could hardly eat it without everything falling on the floor, people who work there and argue in front of the customers when If you want to order something to take away, somehow no one feels responsible for you. I honestly waited almost 25 minutes until I got my Dürüm to take away. It's a shame what happened...

Very good doner meat. Skewer appears to be made in-house. For my taste the meat could be a little spicier. But all in all one of the best kebabs in the Ruhr area.
