Argentines Restourant GMBH El Gaucho Steak haus Lörrach in Lörrach

Despite many restrictions, still the best steakhouse in the region. However, the service is overwhelmed and not familiar with the menu, the dishes, the wines, etc. The food is 20% too expensive for Lörrach, and the steak doesn't come with a side dish. The side dishes have to be ordered separately and are very expensive. The meat is sometimes very good and sometimes just sufficient. What has always been striking is that no chef has ever managed to achieve the cooking levels as ordered. If you order the steaks "medium", you will receive some of them English. If you order the steaks “well done”, you get them “medium”. We, as well as the guests at the neighboring tables, had their steaks put back on the grill or returned. This shouldn't happen to a steak chef. The ambience of the restaurant is getting old and in need of renovation. The toilet area smells of urine and musty... the atmosphere there is more reminiscent of a train station toilet from the 80s. Please change urgently. Clean and attractive toilets are a flagship for a restaurant. On a positive note, there are 3 generous cups of dips, which come with toasted onion bread as a starter (“free”). There were six of us and we all got our food at the same time. This is already very good. Salad, bread with homemade sauces, grilled steak (all done as ordered) with whole potato fries. Everything was perfect and there was so much that none of us could finish it all. Service very friendly and good. The restaurant has a nice ambience. All in all, a recommendation that there is absolutely no objection to the price-performance ratio. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Very good meat and service - would come back

Fantastic food. The fillet was tender like butter and had a smoky, perfect edge. It was a little bloodier than ordered but not drastically different. The ambience was actually nice but unfortunately a bit run down/unkempt. The service was nice, but we didn't speak perfect German. But we were able to communicate very well.

Wine ok, ice cream ok - too expensive

We ate excellently. Hip steak menu and lamb grill mix including creamed spinach and an excellent Sapnic red wine. The meat was fried exactly as ordered. Plus super nice staff. What more do you want. Happy!

The restaurant wasn't busy at 1 p.m. So we ventured into the restaurant, which looked interesting from the outside. The food was very good - the desired doneness was brought to our table. The decoration of the restaurant was very attractive - a nice, rural atmosphere was created. The menu offers a large selection of different meat dishes - the meat comes from Argentina. We will happily visit the restaurant again. 😉

Very nice staff. Delicious cocktails and appetizers. Ordered pepper steak and lamb steak with potato as a side dish. Just perfect. We'll definitely come back.

The meat is not hot at the beginning for a steak, the waiter has to bring it back to the kitchen and tell the chef to get the steak hot again on the pan. Otherwise the service was good and friendly.

The steak wasn't hot at the beginning and the plate for meat was cold, the waiter has to fry the meat again in the kitchen or microwave it.

These people really do a great job. I have no idea where all the negative reviews come from. The only thing that could be criticized a bit was the salad, not a hit, but tasty. But it was fresh and a huge mountain of a salad. Bread with sauces etc. also comes afterwards, very nice. The meat is awesome. Guys, it's charcoal grilled! Anyone who doesn't value that has no idea. We can't say much about the cooking level. We ordered rare and got it. The waiters work together and serve on a conveyor belt. We weren't the only ones there. I watched it. Every table with at least 4 guests had the food served at the same time. I really liked that. The ambience is right. It has decorations, not too much and they are clean. Price is reasonable. I don't come here from Switzerland to eat as cheaply as possible. I want to eat well. And goodbye: It's a shame when restaurants rate each other poorly in order to scare away customers. Best regards

Unfortunately, the price is strongly geared towards CH customers. Not a problem in itself if the service and the meat were up to par, which unfortunately isn't the case. We have had our experience and will not visit this restaurant again.

Hatten telefonisch für ein Geburtstagsessen für 4 Personen reserviert, 3 davon hatten Geburtstag, und um schön gedeckten Tisch gebeten. Die Vorspeise war gut. Scampi an Pernodsauce entspricht nicht Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Der Service war sehr mangelhaft. In Zukunft verzichten wir auf einen Besuch.

Steaks were served, side dishes came 15 minutes later, steak was then cold. When I asked if the steak could be reheated, I only got a curt answer and with reluctance the steaks were taken back into the kitchen. The taste wasn't good either. The staff was very unfriendly and there was no apology, instead there was a hefty bill. Never again...... And it's not a fake account like the owners would like....

Nach langer Zeit dem guten Ruf gefolgt und wiedermal im El Gaucho essen gewesens. Service war ok bis gut. Teilweise sprachliche Barriere vorhanden und es war nicht klar ob wirklich alles verstanden wurde. Filet „medium“ bestellt und leider gut durch gebraten erhalten. Beim Eintopf war das Fleisch leider gumig. Einzig die Scampis waren toll. Preis/Leistung stimmt für mich leider nicht. Scheint mir eine Abzocke an die Schweizer Kunden zu sein.

Wir sind mit Essen und Service hoch zufrieden. Das Fleisch; Medium, die Bedienung zuvorkommend und höflich. Der Holzgrill ist open on Display. Side Dish, heisse Pommes und leckere Saucen runden das Essen ab. Es bleibt neben dem kulinarischen Highlight, der sehr sympathischer Eindruck der Bedienung.

Erstklassiges Fleisch perfekt zubereitet. Auch Sossen und Beilagen waren richtig gut. Freundlicher Service und nette Ambiance, wir kommen gerne wieder.

Mega fein gewesen, Mit Gutschein bezahlt, Mittags jeweils 20% auf alles.

Essen ok, Preise sehr überteuert

Wir waren als Familie beim Essen. Geschmacklich war das Essen Super. Sicherlich ist der Preis nicht günstig, aber das weiss man bevor man das Lokal betritt. Der Service war freundlich und sehr zuvorkommend.

Ich mache es selten, aber ich muss diese Bewertung schreiben !!! Die Qualität vom essen, ist zum Preis ist in keiner Weise gerechtfertigt. Wir haben Langostinos al Pernod bestellt und Shrimpsmit Reis in einer Soße bekommen, Preis 34,50€. Das Rinderfilet habe ich rare (also blutug) bestellt, bekommen habe ich ein gut abgehangenes Filet. (300g für 51,- €). Die Beilagen waren nicht frisch!!! (2Personen 138,50 €) Sorry, das Personal ist nicht fachkundig. Das kommt raus wenn alle Gastronomie machen wollen und keiner es gelernt hat. Ich gebe diese Bewertung als Koch in der gehobenen Gastronomie ab. Vieleicht sollte man wieder auf Qualität setzen und nicht auf Quantität

Wir wurden herzenswarm empfangen! Keine 5 Minuten und wir wurden bedient! Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und auf extra wünsche wurden mit einem warmen Lächeln eingegangen! Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen und ich kann es mir weiter empfehlen!

Ich war zum ersten mal in diesem Restaurant, komme aus NRW und bin nur ein Tag hier. Mit dem Essen,sowie mit der Bedienung bin ich sehr zufrieden.

Wir als Paar waren zum ersten Mal hier was Essen. Das Steak war unglaublich zart und lecker. Die Kräuterbutter war auch fantastisch 👍 Qualität hat ihren Preis, es ist tatsächlich high end Produkt, das muss man sich bewusst sein! Einziger kleiner Kritik Punkt ist zu dem Steak, das es keine Beilage gibt, wenn man eine möchte muss man die separat bestellen. Ansonsten war alles sehr gut, können uns vorstellen wieder zu kommen 🙂

Wir hätten es nicht für möglich gehalten, dass in den Städtchen Lörrach ein Restaurant zu finden wäre, dass Steaks serviert, als wäre man am Puerto Madero un Buenos Aires!!! Besser geht's nicht. Die Preise sind hoch, aber gerechtfertigt. Top-Empfehlung. Bitte denken Sie jedoch daran: so ein massiver Fleischgenuss sollte vor allem aus Umweltgründen die Ausnahme sein. Dann aber richtig genießen!

Nachdem wir 142 € für zwei Personen ausgegeben haben (ohne Wein), bedauere ich wirklich die überhöhten Preise dieses Ortes. Der geforderte Betrag scheint im Vergleich zum gebotenen Gesamterlebnis unverhältnismäßig. Das Ambiente war zwar angemessen, aber bei einer so hohen Rechnung erwartet man ein unvergessliches kulinarisches Erlebnis. Es ist verständlich, dass in einem Steakhouse besonderer Wert auf die Fleischqualität gelegt wird, aber das sollte die Bedeutung von Beilagen und Service nicht in den Schatten stellen. Leider waren diese im Restaurant nicht auf dem erwarteten Niveau. Abschließend kann ich nur empfehlen, woanders nach einem Ort zu suchen, an dem Qualität und Preis im Einklang stehen.

De passage dans la région, j'ai cherché un restaurant servant de la viande au grill. Restaurant Argentin avec des spécialités. La viande est cuite au grill et exactement à la bonne cuisson cependant, l'assaisonnement est un peu inexistant. Les morceaux de viande sont de bonnes qualités et les accompagnements aussi (des frites, banane, riz, etc) Bien accueilli, servi rapidement et sans réservation. Petit bémol : le prix... 150.- pour 2 adultes et 1 enfant de 4 ans. C'est un peu cher mais la qualité est au rendez-vous. Pour info, les accompagnements comme frites, etc... sont des extras.

Wir sind seit einigen Jahren schon Gäste bei El Gaucho. Heute war es das erste Mal im Jahr 2023. Wir wurden komplett enttäuscht. Das Fleisch war roh / blutig statt medium. Das Fleisch war weder gesalzen noch gepfeffert. Die Preise sind dafür rasant in die Höhe gestiegen. Wir haben zu zweit 100€ bezahlt (kein Wein, kein Dessert, kein Kaffee). Wir werden uns ab jetzt anderweitig umsehen. Schade um das einst leckere Restaurant.

Leider hat das Restaurant enorm abgegeben. Vor zwei Jahren um einges besser. 1. Der Kellner hat die Bestellungen verwechselt. 2. Im Restaurant rennen die Kellner unkordiniert hin und her. Sicher im Stress aber für den Kund am Tisch fühlt es sich an wie am Flughafen. 3. Was mich am meisten gestört hat. Das Personal schreit von einer Ecke zur andere und das merheitlich auf Türkisch. Anstatt hemütliches Ambiente füllt man sich am Bazar. 4. Das Fleisch war nicht medium sonder blutig, für ein 50euro Filet sehr schade, wenn es nicht so ist wie gwünscht. 5. Für die Rechnung 20 min zu warten ist nicht oky. Ich hoffe das Restaurant findet wieder seinen Glanz. So wie es jetzt abgeht, sind es 4 Stammgäste weniger in Zukunft.

Das Gaucho hat seit einem Besitzerwechsel sehr an Qualität eingebüsst. Früher musste man auch an Wochentagen reservieren, heute sitzt man beinahe alleine im Lokal. Die Qualität des Fleisches ist immer noch gut, die Beilagen sowie die Nachspeisen sind eher lieblos zubereitet, die Preise sind jedoch horrend.

Bin früher gerne - als ich noch in der Region gewohnt habe - in dieses Steakhaus zum Essen gegangen. Qualität nicht mehr so gut wie früher, Preise sind exorbitant erhöht. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt überhaupt nicht mehr. Nie wieder…..

Leider ist das el caucho nicht mehr das was es einmal war. Das Essen war sehr schlecht. Von der Vorspeise bis zur Hauptspeise. Dazu sind die Preise extrem gestiegen. Ich bezahle gerne mehr für eine gute Speise. Aber das war mehr als enttäuschend. Ich würde nie wieder ins el caucho gehen. Würde es auch niemandem empfehlen. Ich und meine Familie waren unglaublich enttäuscht. Vor allem haben wir früher das El caucho geliebt! So enttäuschend.

Wir waren extrem enttäuscht. Das Restaurant war auch fast leer, was auch schon einiges aussagt. Das sehr teure Fleisch, wurde auf einem Stück Holzbrett serviert, ohne Garnierung oder sonst was. Ein Beilagensalat (sehr klein) knapp 10 Euro 😳 Zum Schluss haben wir dann ca 15 Minuten damit verbracht, dem schimpfenden Kellner zu zuschauen, wie er sich mit dem Kartenlesegerät abgekämpft hat. Alles in allem sehr fragwürdig. Sehr schade.

Ottima carne, abbiamo preso 3 diversi piatti con cottura al sangue . Buono il connubio carne e pesce. Il prezzo è alto, ma comunque in linea con i prezzi alti che si trovano in zona. Abbiamo speso 200€ in tre ma ne è valsa la pena .

Alors... viande bonne mais ils ne savent pas se servir de leurs assiette en fonte non prechauffees. Une absences totale be conessances des vins qu ils vendent. Et des.prix prohibitifs sur les vins et alcool. 15 € le brandi très bas de gamme . Degeu. Pas content en général

Frührer was dieses Steakhouse fantastisch. Leider ist dem nicht mehr so unfreundliches Personal Preise gestiegen ohne ende und die Qualität ist katastrophe für teures geld schlechtes fleisch gegessen. Kunden wünsche werden nicht respektiert und man gibt sich keine Mühe mehr. Sehr schade

Der Inhaber ist nicht mehr der Gleiche. Früher waren es grösstenteils Argentiner, die dort gearbeitet hatten, auch der Chef war aus Argentinien. Das Essen war immer 1A! Sehr gute Qualität des Fleisches, man konnte alles bestellen, es waren alles Gerichte Spitze. Nun waren wir nach langer Zeit wieder dort und es war eine Katastrophe! Rindsfilet ist einfach nur Gummi gewesen, sehr viel Sehne... Sowohl mein Stück als auch das meines Begleiters waren ungeniessbar... Kochbanane bestellt->eine ganz normale Banane kurz angebraten bekommen... Kann nicht euer Ernst sein. Ich werde nicht mehr kommen, leider.

We didn´t have a table booked and ended up here after couple of full booked places. We got a table and the service was quite fast at first. The food was fine and we got out stomachs full. When we asked for the check apparently out orders had been mixed with another table. I propably had something else that I ordered, but still it tasted good.

I came from Basel to eat good steak and satisfied very much. Maybe they have to extend their wine list for professional gourmets.

We go every month or so to El Gauch. Food is very good, is a bit pricy but still it is great. Normally the waiters are friendly, all food is great and the environment is comfortable and nice.

I was with a party of four who decided spontaneously to at El Gaucho before a concert. It started out OK. The slightly hassled looking waiter took a while to get to us to take our order from their not inexpensive selection of steaks. He wasn’t unfriendly, just rushed. We all ordered sirloins, but I was the only one he asked how it should be cooked. Still, we weren’t worried. It was a steakhouse – a good steak is what they do, right? We were sitting at a table outside, and we could see they were pretty busy, but we had two hours to the start of the concert. We really weren’t worried at all. After a while, we noticed that although the tables were numbered, none of the staff seemed to know the layout. They wandered helplessly in circles with steaks on wooden boards. We wondered if they’d heard about the concept of a table plan… The chaos was amusing at that point. Some fresh bread arrived with some garlic mayonnaise and herb butter. Tasty! The drinks took a lot longer. But we were still relaxed and enjoying ourselves. Then we waited. And waited. We asked our waiter – who was trying his best to avoid us – if he could check on the food. He shrugged his shoulders and said they were very busy. We said we’d been waiting an hour for our meals. He said he would ask in the kitchen, then disappeared again. They were busy, but not that busy. The tables outside the restaurant were not all full. Only around 3 tables were occupied inside. It looked more like an average summer evening, not a tsunami of unexpected customers. After 75 minutes, we were really hungry, and anxious that we wouldn’t be able to finish our meal before the concert. We asked about our food again. One one of our party was clearly getting a bit grumpy, and that seemed to get our waiter moving. After almost 90 minutes, our food finally arrived – almost thrown on the table in front of us. All of our steaks were well done. One, in particular, was like leather. After such a long wait, this was a bitter disappointment. We tried – politely at first – to tell the waiter about our disappointment. He responded that they were very busy, and that we had chosen the sirloin, a “cheap cut” – what did we expect? He asked if we knew where the sirloin came from, then put his hand on his behind to demonstrate the answer. After further discussion, he went to get the cook. They continued to argue (loudly) that they were very busy, and that it was our fault for choosing a “cheap cut” of meat. Then suddenly they announced that they would bring us new steaks. This time, my steak appeared within a few minutes. Instead of a mini-sirloin, I was given a huge piece of filet. Perhaps they assumed this would placate me. But I didn’t want a huge piece of meat. And I didn’t want meat that was virtually raw inside, which was what I got. This time I didn’t ask the waiter. I took my plate inside the restaurant and went to the cook, who was working at a griddle in plain sight. I didn’t want to make a huge fuss – I was just hungry and I figured that was the quickest way to get something I could actually eat. This time, the excuse – spoken in the same grumbling tone, was, “Well you said you needed it quickly because you had to leave!” When I got back out, the others had their steaks too, and they were just as bad. So we complained again. The staff very loudly defended themselves with the same excuses again – it was the customer’s fault. Clearly there were just too many of us, and we kept choosing stuff from their menu. Despite the fact that the enormous piece of fillet I hadn’t ordered finally arrived cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful, I didn’t enjoy my meal. None of us did. On their website, El Gaucho says “Wir freuen uns auf Ihren Besuch” – "We look forward to your visit. Could have fooled me.

Whatever you do, don't visit this restaurant if they're busy - and be prepared to get mobbed by the highly defensive staff if you do and you're not happy with the food. Waiting an hour and a half for our meals, the steaks were over-done when they were thrown in front of us. As we directed the staff's attention to the fact, they quite aggressively told us that we couldn't expect any better with the cheap cut we'd chosen. Responding like moping pre-teens, they then slapped new steaks on the table - this time quite demonstratively hardly cooked (ie bloody), since we'd complained about the original steaks being overcooked. The general impression was that of a chaotic place, where waiters were running around with food, having no clue which table to bring it to - until a small staff meeting had taken place to determine the recipients. And as demonstrated above, rather than adress quiet complaints in a service minded matter they decided to go on the offense and try to mob the customer into submission. Extremely unprofessional and amateurish.

We ordered a few steak dishes they turned out not bad. The place did all the correct things from fresh meat, flavored sauce to an okay service. While there is nothing wrong, we feel there is yet a small gap for it to be called amazing. For example the meat used for steak is not the best portion; and service just alright to pass the benchmark.

Even if we are from out of town, when we visit we always make sure to spend an evening at El Gaucho. It is one of our favourite restaurant for food, service and atmosphere ; we have always been blown away by the quality of the food. Our favorite dishes include the steak, the salmon and the ribs.

We come back to this restaurant again and again, as food quality is very good and constant since years. Friendly personnel, nice atmosphere. Recommended!

Such great steaks here. The bread with dips/spreads provided is amazing also. Seems like prices went up recently so it's not as good value as it used to be but still worth it for a nice steak as a treat. Be aware that they usually cook the steak rare even if you ask for medium so don't ask for rare as it comes out blue.

The wait staff make you feel unwelcome. The food is almost thrown at you. The waiters grunts are about the only sound they make during the evening. The steaks are good.

Went with friends for a steak and was not disappointed. Had the mixed plate and it was cracking. Never got asked for the way we liked it cooled bit it came medium rare which was the way I usually like it. Also the bread that came as an appetizer was pretty tasty and the starter of black pudding and chorizo sausage was also pretty awesome.will definitely b back

A decent steakhouse with a good variety of meats. I'm from a part of the US where steaks are premium, so I'm a bit demanding in my taste. It's a good product and the service is good but it's not a premium place to eat for the money it costs. I would still go there if spending time in the region.

Service was terrible -- waiters were not able to speak neither German nor English properly. Main course was served despite us having not finished starters. And they forgot to bring out an initially ordered dish for main. This one came once we were nearly finished with the main course. Towards the end it got really uncomfortable as the waiters started cleaning up and putting up chairs -- felt like we were pushed out to leave. Meat was terrific though. Yet, I would not visit that soon again.

The place is small and it is good to do a reservation before you go. They have fresh meat imported from Argentina coming every week, so if you want to taste a real Chorizo beef you must go there! Their wine of the house is also tasteful. Not that expensive.

I ordered a filet, medium.when it arrive..it was inside cold and not warm and not medium.2 second round..still not medium.3 round i refuse to it. I should pay for,what i did not eat! Hello! This restaurant became from a good restaurant to a baď restaurant.

Still faraway from a good Argentinian Grill, the place is a good spot if you need to eat meat around Basel area. I went there 2 times, the service was correct but not amazing, we had to wait a little too long and the waiter...

We go here regularly, and the quality of the food is very high, and the atmosphere is pleasant inside and outside which is shady in the summer. Good house red wine.
