Ambrosia in Hannover

We made a last-minute reservation for 10 people by phone, which was no problem at all. The welcome was very warm and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant, cozy, and rustic. We weren't seated long before the menu was handed out, and our drink order was taken promptly. Excellent service! After we had placed our order (some with special requests, which were handled without any issues), the drinks arrived quickly. The food was delicious. I would have liked some tzatziki included with the meal—at least a small dollop. It had to be ordered separately. The amount of gyros meat 🥩 could have been a tad ⏰ more to my liking. After all, it was a gyros plate. I'm also used to getting a free ouzo 🥃 with a meal 🍮🌮🍟, especially since the prices 💸💸💸 are a bit higher 📈 in comparison. However, the service 💁‍♂️ was excellent at all times 🙂. Always friendly 😊 and attentive. Overall, it was a really lovely evening 🍴🌆

Waiter John is one of the most passionate restaurant staff I have ever met in Germany! I feel really warm and respected as a first time customer of this restaurant. We visited Ambrosia in Groß Buchholz for the first time on Sunday. Great atmosphere, very attentive and friendly staff. The food was simply fantastic! Great salad buffet, tender, perfectly seasoned meat, and delicious jacket potatoes with sour cream. The tzatziki is divine. The terrace is lovely, shaded by a huge oak tree. We've found our new favorite Greek restaurant and would love to come back! 😀

Bam, and I was really blown away! I spontaneously reserved a table the night before, which is absolutely necessary if you want a table. The ambiance is fantastic; the restaurant is located in a former barn with a cozy terrace. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic with a certain chic. The service, from the moment we greeted you to the moment we left, is very friendly, attentive, and courteous. But much more important is the food. As a chef, I tend to like to rate dishes. At Ambrosia, a crew rocks the kitchen. They're skilled and enthusiastic, and this also comes across to the guests in the form of really good food. Salad is served buffet-style, so everyone can help themselves to what they want. We had various grilled dishes, with baked potatoes and tomato rice as side dishes. Gyros, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, deliciously seasoned. Bifteki, with and without cheese, perfectly cooked, deliciously seasoned. Souvlaki, very tender, very juicy, and also deliciously seasoned. For dessert, we had the house recommendation, a semifreddo. Not too sweet, not too rich. We haven't eaten this well in a long time and have been looked after this well. We say a huge thank you, and we will definitely be back!

We were very disappointed with the food! At 8 p.m., there were no jacket potatoes, which are available as a side dish with most main courses on the menu, nor were there any bifteki. Roast lamb was the last portion we could order. The small appetizer platter had very little to do with Greece: prawn cocktail, sun-dried tomatoes, tomatoes with mozzarella, tuna cream, salmon... The only thing that reminded me of Greece was the tzatziki. The worst part, though, was that the food upset our stomachs so much that my wife and I felt nauseous until this morning, and we both had to rush to the bathroom! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the ambiance is great. Unfortunately, I don't recommend the food!

Warm welcome, great ambience, the food ok. However, this was probably the first Greek place where we didn't get ouzo with our meal - which seems to be normal there. Maybe it also fits with the portions, which we also found a bit calculating. This breaks the tradition of Greek dining a bit. Ok, a bit of a shame 🙏

We had dinner at Ambrosia for the first time this weekend and were absolutely thrilled 🤩 What a wonderful atmosphere in an old barn. Amazing. Our waiter, Johannes, was amazing 😄 The salad buffet and the gyro plate were truly amazing. If we come back to Hanover, we'll definitely eat there again 🥘. We highly recommend this Greek restaurant 🤩🫶

Highly recommended; it couldn't be better. From the cloth napkins to the service to the food, everything is top-notch. I've practically become a regular, and I'm always pleasantly surprised with every visit. The only tiny negative is the acoustics; there's room for improvement here.

My steak plate was perfectly grilled...something I've rarely experienced...except at Ambrosia! Went to Ambrosia for the first time today but definitely not the last time. Great service, our waiter was very accommodating and very personable. The food was great, we have rarely eaten such tender meat. The ambience is beautifully decorated and invites you to spend a pleasant few hours. Price performance top we will definitely come back.

A charming place. With a very professional and friendly service. The very burnt atmosphere. And the food is delicious. You can serve your salad however you want. I ordered Moussaka, and it was very well cooked.

We'll be back! We went to the Greek restaurant for the first time today. The service was friendly and quick, the salad buffet was clear and wonderfully fresh, as main courses we had the steak plate and the fillet plate, both of which were freshly prepared and served hot on the table and tasted very tasty, with a pleasantly restrained seasoning. A big compliment to the kitchen and the waiter Johannes!

Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal in dem griechischen Restaurant. Der Service war freundlich und zügig, das Salatbuffet zeigte sich übersichtlich und herrlich frisch, als Hauptgerichte hatte wir den Steak-Teller und den Filet-Teller, beides kam frisch zubereitet und heiß serviert auf den Tisch und schmeckte sehr lecker, angenehm zurückhaltend gewürzt. Ein großes Lob an die Küche und den Kellner Johannes!

Nice service, super nice atmosphere. The food (meat plate with lamb, minced meat and pork) was good. The salad from the salad buffet was ok. No ouzo or olive oil on the table.

Since we ate there with my daughter and son-in-law shortly before Christmas, all the tables were occupied and it was very loud. The food suflaki, sole and pork fillet were very well prepared and tasty. What surprised us was that there was no guest at this Greek restaurant - ouzo before or after the meal. The We don't know any other Greek restaurants. The menu is also not typically Greek, i.e. there were no dishes with Metaxa sauce and the selection of starters was rather small. Despite everything, it was a lovely evening

We were there for a family birthday party and were very pleased. All the employees were super nice, we were able to modify the dishes a bit for the kids, and it was tasty. I love Metaxasauce and would like to eat there too, but the alternatives are all very tasty, so that's completely okay.

Probably the best Greek in East Hannover, also very nice in the half-timbered house in this very idyllic area. Extremely nice and funny service.

A nice Greek restaurant where you can eat good Greek food. It's very comfortable, but a little tight in terms of space. The background noise is also very high. The waitresses are very nice and attentive and take good care of the guests. I had the gyros plate with gyros, souflaki and was very satisfied. Definitely worth a visit.

Authentic Greek dishes in a typical northern German half-timbered house atmosphere, a successful German-Greek combination. The service is attentive and humorous, and the price-performance ratio is good.

Unfortunately, I wanted to go out for something to eat alone, but that didn't happen, but I wasn't exactly politely asked to leave the restaurant because it was Mesa and they needed everyone at a table and not just one person at the table. That's not how you treat your guests

What a wonderful restaurant in the outskirts of Hannover, DE. The server was very kind and made excellent recommendations. Outside seating was peaceful and pretty. Food was excellent.

We made a reservation online a few days before our visit with the request to sit outside. The reservation was confirmed without comment and when we were there they said that everything outside was reserved and was being prepared for us inside. We were already disappointed. The service was very good. Fast, attentive and kind. The food was ok for the price. A little carelessly done. The salad buffet is very small. It is also suitable for wheelchairs. While we were eating we noticed that the guests came in from outside because there were a lot of wasps and flies. The restaurant is very child-friendly. Overall it was ok.

For me it's definitely the best Greek - I'm a regular customer there. No matter whether you sit inside or outside (under a huge tree - awesome!), the ambience is great. The waiters are polite and attentive, the food is delicious (many other Greeks can enjoy the salad buffet!). Ok - I usually always order the same thing, but even smaller extra requests are always implemented. Maybe one day my long-awaited pepperoni skewer in garlic will end up on the menu after all ;-) . In any case, I'm happy to leave my money with these warm people!

Very good menu with absolutely sufficient selection. Broad spectrum, but not too extensive. Special requests are happy to be fulfilled and the slightly higher prices are therefore absolutely justified. Very friendly staff who still know what makes a personal approach. All in all a place to spend a cozy evening with good food and good drinks.

We have enjoyed coming here for years. Consistently good quality, a sufficiently extensive salad buffet, from which the olives stand out, very fond of the roast lamb, the tender calamaretti or of course the sea bream. Simply good, plus very friendly, attentive service. If it's often full here, it shows that others think the same way!

For me the restaurant is a little too dark and too crowded. Therefore the appropriate volume... it is really well attended. Food OK, but not particularly Greek and the prices are really high. Starts with the simple tzatziki for €6.50...

In our opinion the best Greek in Hanover. Salad buffet with fresh salads, there were three of us there and we were all very happy with the food. Everything was very tasty, Giros crispy without fat, fish platter beautifully prepared and really tasty, dessert is awesome and with Johannes as the waiter the meal is even more fun. Great advice, super nice and friendly service. We will definitely remain regular customers at this restaurant.

Farmhouse with a nice atmosphere, unfortunately not very Greek. Price/performance of the dishes is good. There is enough on offer so that you won't be overwhelmed. You have to like the type of service, it's just a matter of opinion. Will definitely go out to eat during the week as it is very crowded and loud on Saturday

Otherwise more often if you have enough time and money. Partially suitable for wheelchair users. Entrance only one step. Rooms tight. Unfortunately there is no disabled toilet. True! Not to mention very nice staff!

Today for Christmas, we reserved a table for 2 hours. One of the waiters seemed very stressed right from the start. This was followed by an overzealous order acceptance on his part. Although we had reserved for 2 hours, we were asked to pay 1/2 hour earlier, also with the information that ordering dessert was no longer possible. I have never felt so “thrown out” in a restaurant before.

We always liked going to Ambrosia, so we ordered for 12pm on Christmas Day and were there on time. Our table was reserved again for another time at 1:30 p.m. After over an hour!!! When we had to wait for our food, we were rudely asked to hurry up, pay and give up the table at 12.20 p.m. Some of us were still busy eating. There was no time for dessert or a digestif. The food was ok, but the waiter's behavior was just outrageous. Christmas Day was spoiled. Never again!

Wir haben am 1. Weihnachtstag mittags um 12.00 Uhr reserviert. Um 13.30 Uhr gab es eine weitere Reservierung für unseren Tisch. Nachdem wir über eine Stunde!!! auf das Essen gewartet haben, wurden wir um 12.20 eindringlich gebeten uns zu beeilen, zu zahlen und den Tisch freizugeben. Meine Schwester hatte zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht aufgegessen. Für ein Dessert oder einen Digestif war keine Zeit. Das Essen war ok, aber das Essen/ der Eindruck wurde am Ende durch das Verhalten des Kellners verdorben. Einfach nur unverschämt! Nie wieder!

Wir waren an einem Freitag abends mit fünf Personen hier und hatten vorab reserviert. Zum Glück, den es war sehr voll. Trotzdem war das Personal sehr höflich und aufmerksam. Das Essen. Hauptgerichte und Dessert, war sehr gut. Mein Filet-Teller mit Rinder- und Schweinefilet sowie Gyros war ausgezeichnet. Fleisch medium und Gyros kross. Und das "Geburtstagskind" wurde extra überrascht. Ein schöner Abend und sicherlich nicht der letzte Besuch.

Einfach wow, bester Grieche bei dem ich gewesen bin. Super nette Bedienung und das Essen einfach von der Größe und Geschmack nicht vergleichbar mit anderen in Hannover
