The three of us and two dogs spontaneously stopped there. We were attracted by the predominantly positive reviews and a desire for fresh fish. We enjoyed the pilot's plate on the beautiful terrace right on the Siel... it was worth it! Super friendly and humorous service, delicious food and great ambience... many thanks to the entire team at "Am Kamin"...

We were there for the first time this evening. Very nice beer garden right on the water. Clean tables and we were served by a young man from whom most waitresses should learn something! I have rarely received such friendly and courteous service! Our son's wish for a children's schnitzel was fulfilled even though it wasn't on the menu. The portion was really decent for 8.50 euros. My husband had the grill plate and I had the mushroom schnitzel. That was the best thing I've ever eaten! Just the right size, lots of fresh mushrooms, and the sauce was perfectly seasoned. Totally recommended!!!

Looking back on yesterday evening: It was cozy and extremely pleasant “Am Kamin” in Dornumersiel. The fresh products, the beautiful ambience and the very friendly service were convincing. We look forward to visiting this restaurant again.

We have now vacationed in Dornumersiel for the third time. This year was the first time we had been to this restaurant. We sat at the back in the beer garden, very comfortable. Friendly staff. We didn't have to wait long for the food. I had the pilot plate with fried potatoes, very tasty. I can recommend. However, my husband wasn't that enthusiastic about the chimney pan; the fried potatoes were too greasy because the oil was floating at the bottom of the pan. The medallions were overcooked. But my son also liked it, he had redfish fillet. Price/performance okay.

I had to give one star but it didn't mean anything. We were there about an hour ago....NEVER AGAIN!! About 50 minutes after we placed our order and I saw that guests who had entered the restaurant after us had long since started eating, I politely asked if we had been forgotten... there was no apology. Afterwards, food came. My wife had just finished the salad for the main course, put the last cable in her mouth and in no time the plate was gone and replaced with the starter... I would say living at the limit :) Main course was more than just disappointing. Fried potatoes were way too greasy, fish wasn't all fresh in my opinion. (TK sends its regards) Our 9 year old son threw up at home after his schnitzel plate with fries... (is there a connection?!) I definitely advise against visiting there! Anyone who says the food is great there also eats small children.

We had dinner in the restaurant “Am Kamin” on the evening of August 4th, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. The reviews were consistently good, and the pictures of the delicious prepared dishes were very appealing. Unfortunately we can't share that. I ordered a fish soup in advance, if you like it - okay, but it wasn't for me. But this is a matter of taste. The Pilot's Plate, the Wiener Schnitzel, the Grilled Plate and the Kutterscholle dish were a complete fat game. The food was an absolute disaster. We would have been better off taking the money to MC Do...ds. We were forgotten at first. My goodness, it can happen. After drawing attention to ourselves, we couldn't swallow as quickly as what was served. I'm not one to complain; something can always go wrong. This is all human. However, apologizing is also human and a matter of respect. But this didn't happen. The young man/Keller with the black hair and the "curls" as bangs had to fix the mess that the other three Kellers messed up. Never, never again.........

Everything was perfect here, great food, great ambience and great service. I found a dish via social media that was probably from 3 years ago and was no longer on the menu. The friendly owners there prepared this dish for me straight away without a word. That's what service is. Children are not left out either. We'll definitely be back!! PS the dish should be back on the menu 😄

Disappointed First of all, the ambience inside, very nice and original, outside it's more of a terrace on the Siel. Service, a young waiter who does a good job and is very professional, with two colleagues who tried to do justice to all guests. Food and drinks, the menu was very simple, unfortunately we had to wait a long time for the drinks. I didn't have to order a salad plate (which is on the menu) because a salad plate was served with all dishes. I had a grill plate, the meat was good, the pork steak was very dry. Unfortunately the fried potatoes are not at all as we know them, dark but not fried. The vegetables too. In addition, everything tastes the same, meat, fried potatoes, vegetables seasoned with the same herb salt. Absolutely not satisfactory for me.

We sat in the beer garden, which I found very nice. But others have already mentioned this positively. The two ladies in service were nice and polite. But there was a young man who served the food... We noticed him very positively. Very nice, polite, thoughtful and accommodating! Now for the rest... We had to wait a long time for the drinks. We were not the exception. It was the same for all the guests. The food... Every first-year chef trainee can do it just as well. The fries weren't completely cooked through, the meat was well seared and juicy, I had chicken, and the grilled vegetables were briefly sautéed. The salad first... coleslaw, carrot salad, red cabbage salad and iceberg lettuce. Why put dressing on everything? Only iceberg lettuce needs it. This isn't decoration either. In general I would say... Well... There were no vegetarian dishes on the menu. On demand. Nowadays I don't think that's up to date anymore. Conclusion. I've had enough.

Sehr schöner Biergarten hinter dem Restaurant, direkt am Siel. Die Speisekarte ist erfreulich Übersichtlich mit Fleisch und Fischgerichten. Das Essen war sehr gut, und wurde mit Friesischen Charme Serviert. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Gemütlich direkt am Wasser gelegen. Nettes Personal und eine übersichtliche Karte. Das Essen hat gut geschmeckt, die Portionen waren gross und eine kleine Aufmerksamkeit gab es auch noch. Preis-Leistung stimmte definitiv. Leider werden auch hier keine Visa-Karten akzeptiert. Sehr schade.

This lovely restaurant right on the water is definitely worth a visit. The food is a real pleasure. The service was very accommodating. The only other thing I would recommend is drinking an honest beer with your meal. The wine is so overpriced that you should leave it alone. We were allowed to photograph the wine bottle. So I know what I'm talking about.

Also, wir waren dieses Jahr schon mehrmals dort, einfach top! Ok, jetzt am Wochenende gab's wohl paar kleine probleme! ABER!!! Das ganze Personal ist so lieb und herzlich, und das Essen ( vor allem das schollenfilet) absolut top zu fairen preisen!! Da wird noch alles frisch zubereitete!!!! Manche Gäste sollten vielleicht auch mal dran denken dass sie im Urlaub da sind und etwas Zeit mitbringen!!! Wir hatten dort echt schöne Abende!!! Wir kommen immer wieder gerne zum kamin!!!!!!!!!

Sehr unflexibel. Hatte reserviert am Mittwoch. War da am Samstag um 17.30 Uhr. Hätte gerne noch einen Platz auf der Terrasse bekommen. Man sagte alle besetzt. Ok. Kurz nach mir kam eine 4 Köpfchen Familie, die nicht reserviert hatte und siehe da : auf einmal war ein Tisch frei. Sehr frustrierend Hab es auch so kommuniziert. Schade So kann einem der Abend auch versaut werden.

Ambience: very rustic and cozy inside. There are also plenty of seats outside. I don't find it very comfortable directly in front of the door. But there are also places behind the house in the countryside. Very pretty. Service: super friendly and attentive, has time for a quick chat. We felt good Food: we had two fish dishes, both of which were delicious. I can recommend the cutter plaice. Overall, not a huge card. Personally, I think that's good. There should be something for every taste here. We'll come back when we vacation there again

Nice restaurant in Dornumersiel. Food is great and the portions are huge. Unfortunately, the waiting times until the meal leaves something to be desired. This is not a problem for an adult but for a child. The staff is friendly but they seem overwhelmed.

Went there for dinner today. At first we were forgotten, the skewer wasn't flambéed, there were several hairs in the food and the herb butter was no longer edible. Everything was only surpassed by the arrogance of the waiter. We couldn't do anything about it, but neither could HE. That's really a pity!!

Last week we sat and ate on the terrace right on the Siel. The plaice with the announced “crab cream sauce” and baked banana was super tasty and something completely different - great! However, I would recommend noting on the menu that the sauce is a curry sauce with pineapple; some people probably understand “crab cream sauce” a little differently. The only thing I didn't need were the squid rings. The service staff were still new and a bit confused at times, but super nice.

Great food, right on the Siel, with attentive service. Gourmet heart, what more do you want?

We came here spontaneously at Easter and were fortunately able to use one of the last tables. The service is friendly and usually quick. But you could definitely tell that it was very full. The food (pilot plate and grill plate) was delicious. Some of the fish still had a lot of bones and had definitely been fried in a lot of fat. It was still delicious - especially the homemade tartar sauce. The restaurant is probably described very well with “rustic”. It feels a bit like a journey into the last millennium. This is also noticeable when paying, because only cash or EC card works as a payment method.

Wir haben das Restaurant an unserem letzten Urlaubstag besucht, weil wir zunächst etwas abgeschreckt waren von den nicht ganz so guten Rezensionen. Am Ende waren wir mehr als begeistert. Unsere Vorspeise mussten wir leider kritisieren. Hausgemachte Fischsuppe mit Baguette. Darunter hatten wir uns etwas anderes vorgestellt. Es gab eine eher triste Fischbrühe mit kleinsten Fischstückchen, das Baguette dazu fehlte komplett. Die Kritik daran wurde anstandslos akzeptiert und mit einem viertel Weißwein auf Kosten des Hauses ohne Diskussionen ausgeglichen. Die darauf folgende Hauptspeise war unglaublich lecker! Scholle Finkenwerder Art und Labskaus. Alles hausgemacht und mit Liebe gekocht und serviert. Toller Service. Nett und schnell. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt. Eher niedrig für die gute Qualität der Speisen. Wir kommen gerne wieder 😊

Quaint restaurant/pub, the food was very good and tasty. Something has stood still in time and that's a good thing... The service is very nice and friendly. We will definitely come back on our next vacation.

Very clean restaurant, food top, overall recommended, price/performance ratio fits

We went to this restaurant twice during our short vacation because we liked it so much the first time. It was opened on Ascension Day "last year" in 2022 (2023?) and has various own creations such as the homemade tartar sauce and the "Opa-Bräsig-Gedächtnis-Schnaps (a herbal liqueur made from our own recipe). In terms of costs, the total bill of around €100 for 4 people including drinks was still within a tolerable range despite the price increases. Despite the lack of skilled workers, the staff took the time to take good care of the guests. Even the chef came to the tables to ask if everything was okay. Even with the currently good range and taste of the dishes on offer, he attaches great importance to feedback from guests in order to further refine the recipes. And shared a few anecdotes about recipe development. However, the recipe for the herbal liqueur is secret. Not even the staff knows it and therefore can't reveal anything. Given the restaurant's short history, it is expected that the quality of the food will continue to improve. From my point of view, I can only recommend a visit to this restaurant

Good food, the plaice were very tasty, nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. We were there on two evenings and were more than satisfied.

Haben ohne Reservierung einen Tisch bekommen, war aber vermutlich eine Ausnahme, da das Lokal recht gut besucht ist. Also sicherheitshalber vorab reservieren. Die Bedienungen sind allesamt freundlich, selbst bei hoher Frequentierung des Lokals. Die Getränke und auch das bestellte Essen wurde ohne große Wartezeit gebracht. Beide Essen waren frisch zubereitet, ansprechend dekoriert und sehr gut abgeschmeckt. Der Apfelstrudel mit Eis und Vanillesauce bestand aus echtem Strudelteig, nicht wie manchenorts aus Blätterteig. Geschmacklich auch nichts zu bemängeln. Die Portionsgröße bei den Speisen sind genau richtig und die Preise gerechtfertigt. Das Ambiente ist natürlich auf die Ostfriesische Nordseeküste abgestimmt, passt somit perfekt zum Konzept des Lokals. Gäste, welche das Speiselokal am Kamin besuchen, werden mit Sicherheit nicht enttäuscht nach Hause gehen. Aber wie gesagt, Reservierung nicht vergessen.

Es paßt alles, trotz krankheitsbedingtem Personalmangel. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ein sehr schönes,uriges Restaurant, sehr gemütlich und kuschelig eingerichtet. Das Essen,ich hatte Lachs mit grünen Nudeln,war sowas von lecker und obwohl ich eine Seniorenportion war war es sehr reichlich. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam, kompetent und flott. Alles in Allem ein sehr schöner und gelungener Abend.

Waren heute zum ersten, aber nicht zum letzten Mal dort essen. Es hat alles gepasst. Preis/Leistung wirklich super, Personal äußerst nett, zuvorkommend, höflich und aufmerksam. Essen war sehr lecker, Portionen waren mehr als ausreichend. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.👍👍 Update: Waren nach 4 Wochen jetzt wieder zweimal dort essen und es war erneut sehr lecker. Unser Kellner Leon war sehr nett und freundlich und hat immer Zeit für einen kleinen Schnack. Trotz der fortgeschrittenen Jahreszeit waren die Gemüsebeilagen frisch und saisonal, Salat frisch und knackig und das Fleisch und der Fisch top gebraten. Wir freuen uns schon aufs nächste Mal. Ich denke das ist eines von den Restaurants, die man lieber geheim hält, eigentlich. Aber das wäre echt nicht fair. Die Karte ist kurz und überschaubar, aber jedes Menü eine wahre Geschmacksexplosion. Mein Freund würde sagen: der Gaumen wird zur Kathedrale. Einfach top. Der Preis ist meiner Meinung mehr als gerechtfertigt d.h. Preis Leistung im Einklang

Wir waren spontan im Restaurant Am Kamin und können uns den vielen positiven Rezensionen nicht anschließen! Beim Ambiente hat man sich bestimmt bemüht aus alt und abgenutzt, schnell etwas annehmbares zu schaffen aber leider hat man dabei viele Stellen übersehen oder notdürftig kaschiert. Der Service… tja was sollen wir sagen… es gab keinen Service! Man hat schnell gemerkt das sich das Personal auf Stammgäste, Einheimische oder Freunde konzentriert und dabei gerne den ein oder anderen Tisch übersieht! …. Und das Essen… tja auch hier gibt es noch viel Luft nach oben! Lieblos! Geschmacklos! Unser Fazit aus diesem Abend: viel zu lange Wartezeiten für schlechtes Essen und nicht vorhandenen Service! Wohl eher ein Geheimtipp der geheim bleiben sollte!

GEHEIMTIPP! BITTE nicht weiterlesen! Wo die Ostfriesen gerne selber hingehen! Nachdem ein anderes Lokal vor Ort überbucht war, sind wir in ein wenig abgelegenes Lokal von der Hauptstraße eingekehrt (30 Sekunden Fußweg von dort entfernt)! Wir kamen gerade gegen 18:00 Uhr zur richtigen Zeit im „Kamin“ an, um noch einen nicht reservierten Tisch zu ergattern…. Doch kaum saßen wir dort, kam es Knall auf Fall und die Bude war voll! Das Interessante daran war, das die meisten Gäste noch richtige Ostfriesen waren und keine versnoppten Ruhrgebietsler! Und das ist ja immer ein gutes Zeichen, wenn Einwohner selber in das Lokal gehen, wo sie auch wohnen. Man hörte durch aus richtiges Platt an den Nebentischen schnacken und die eine oder anderen Person hat man schon mal im Ortskern gesehen. Dann waren mein Onkel, meine Tante und ich richtig gespannt, wie der Abend hier am Kamin so verläuft. Auf jeden Fall wurden wir von einer super netten und fleißigen Bedienung, die sofort unsere Getränke Bestellung aufnahm, freudig empfangen. Die nicht überladene Speisekarte hat tolle Gerichte zur Auswahl, wo für jeden Fleisch- und Fischfreund etwas dabei ist. Kein Schickimicki, keinen unnötigen Zappes, sondern Grund ehrliche Gerichte für jedermann. Wir hatten jeder etwas anderes gewählt: Erstens: Schweinefiletpfanne mit Kroketten. Zweitens: Schnitzel mit frischen Champignons und Pommes. Drittens: Rumpsteak mit gebratenen Zwiebeln und Pommes. Das Fleisch war überall auf den Punkt gebraten, die frischen Pommes waren heiß mit einer leckeren Mayonnaise serviert und sowohl die gebraten Zwiebeln auf dem Rumpsteak als auch die frischen Champignons auf dem Schnitzel waren göttlich. Jedes diese einzelne Gerichte wurde bis auf den Grund des Tellers aufgegessen, weil es sooooo lecker war, und obwohl die Portionen durch aus großzügig bemessen waren. Wir haben nach dem Essen noch mehr „selbst gebrannte“ Schnaps mit dem Namen „OPA Bräsig“ getrunken und sogar noch welche obendrauf vom Hauses ausgegeben bekommen! Die Jever flossen in Strömen, und sobald man Bedarf hatte, waren innerhalb von 3 Minuten ein frisches Glas Jever an den Tisch gebracht worden. Es war ein wirklich perfekter Abend, wo sich der Kellner Matthias sogar noch später an unseren Tisch setzte und uns noch einiges über Historie des Ladens erzählte. Ich kann nur jedem Gast ein Besuch in dem „Kamin“ empfehlen. Sehr gutes Essen, Herzlichkeit und ein tolles Team erwartet Euch da .

In "Am Kamin" ist es sowohl innen als auch aussen sehr gemütlich. Das Essen ist super frisch zubereitet. Man merkt direkt am Geschmack, dass hier frische Produkte aus der Region zubereitet werden. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und immer zu einem netten Gespräch bereit, wenn die Zeit es zulässt. Als Gast fühlt man sich hier wirklich herzlich willkommen.

Wir waren zu zweit am 13.09.'23 im "Am Kamin" zum Essen. Wir hatten den Lotsenteller und das Schollenfilet. Der Lotsenteller wurde mit drei Sorten Fisch und auf eigenen Wunsch mit Salzkartoffeln serviert. Eine Sorte Fisch war so hart daß man ihn nicht essen konnte, insgesamt wurde zu viel Fett verwendet welches auf dem Teller umher schwamm. Das Schollenfilet wurde unter der Krabbensoße und der gebratenen Banane erstickt und war kaum zu sehen. Auf eigenen Wunsch wurde das Schollenfilet mit Bratkartoffeln serviert. Leider waren das keine Bratkartoffeln sonder Brandkartoffeln weil sie zum Teil schwarz und verbrannt waren. Geschmacklich waren beide Fischgerichte gerade noch akzeptabel. Beim Braten der beiden Fischgerichte ist noch jede Menge Luft nach oben. Zum Probieren anderer Speisen wird es unsererseits nicht kommen. Wohlgemerkt wurden hier nur der Lotsenteller und das Schollenfilet bewertet. Das Restaurant ist gemütlich eingerichtet und lädt zum Verweilen ein. Parklätze sind eher Mangelware. Das Personal ist freundlich und aufmerksam.

Wir sind traurig das wir dieses Restaurant nicht eher entdeckt haben. Es ist etwas versteckt! Super leckeres Essen, tolles Personal und super gemütlich ist es da.

Essen war hervorragend, alles frisch zubereitet und sehr lecker. Tolles Ambiente, gemütlich eingerichtet und das Personal sehr freundlich. Alles Top!!!

Wir haben ein Restaurant gesucht, in dem man auch spät abends noch bekocht wird. Zuerst total skeptisch, weil "Am Kamin" eine 3,6er Bewertung hier hatte. Das wird dem Restaurant aber leider überhaupt garnicht gerecht. Ich hatte schon so etwas vermutet, die Kellnerin hat es bestätigt: das Restaurant hatte mal einen anderen Inhaber. Abends um 19Uhr, kaum was los, 3 Bedienungen + 2 hinter der Theke. Auf die Getränke mussten wir 30min warten. 20min später kam der Matjes nach Hausfrauen Art; quasi Kühlschrank auf, Fisch und Remoulade auf den Teller?? Die beiden Salat Vorspeisen sind weitere 5min später gekommen. Ich kann dafür kein Verständnis aufbringen.
