A restaurant with delicious food; they even cook special meals for vegetarians upon request! It's not cheap, but worth every penny!

Restaurant with excellent cuisine and a great atmosphere. Everything is freshly prepared. You don't have to wait too long for your meal. The service is also friendly, attentive, and very courteous. We visited "Am Kamin" with a party of six. Everyone was extremely satisfied.

That was the best meal this year!!! Whether it was fish, meat, vegetables, fried potatoes, herb butter, remoulade, herb quark, or fish soup – everything was freshly prepared and tasted absolutely delicious. Regional and seasonal ingredients! 👍 The cocktails were fantastic too. Add to that the charmingly rustic restaurant and the incredibly friendly, humorous, and attentive service! A truly perfect experience, without a doubt! I highly recommend it to everyone!

A charming and welcoming atmosphere with incredibly friendly service. The food was fantastic: a diverse selection of regional grilled vegetables, deliciously seasoned meat, and a piping hot and flavorful fish soup – just as it should be. The price is justified and perfectly reasonable considering the high quality of the ingredients. Our plates were generously filled, and we were all more than satisfied! The restaurant has a fairly extensive menu with many fish and meat dishes. In addition, there are daily specials, which are displayed on a bewildering number of boards scattered throughout the restaurant. I almost missed the board featuring kale near the entrance. I did indeed order the kale. It was a truly monstrous portion. It came with four (!) large sausages of two different kinds and three slices of smoked pork loin. I ordered fried potatoes instead of the usual boiled potatoes, which wasn't a problem at all. Before that, I had crab soup. It was very good and came with salad and a warm roll. All together, though, it was almost impossible to finish. A flaming schnapps served afterward helped to numb the effects a bit. My wife had the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon and the pumpkin soup, both also very good. Each dish came with a delicious salad that wasn't your usual run-of-the-mill salad. There were two different dressings available. Am Kamin is somewhat hidden away on a side street. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy. We had a reservation, but that wasn't really necessary in the off-season in November. As a grand finale, we were offered a complimentary herbal schnapps. Update: Two days later, we were back again—which speaks volumes for the restaurant, as we rarely eat at the same place twice on vacation. And this time, it was excellent as well. I had the sole, which were two decent-sized fish, with bones that simply came out in one piece. It was served with a generous amount of crab and bacon. As an extra touch, there was also a delicious herring with onions on the plate. Instead of boiled potatoes, I had excellent fried potatoes.

A quaint, cozy restaurant on a side street, with a good, well-balanced menu to suit all tastes. Whether you prefer fish, meat dishes, or vegetarian options, the prices are moderate, the portions are generous, and the service is very pleasant and friendly. Enjoy the lovely beer garden right by the pond or, when it's cooler, the restaurant's interior. To finish, try the "Opa Bräsig," a house-mixed schnapps. We love coming back here and highly recommend the "Kamin."

I was very disappointed. Waiting 45 minutes for drinks was unacceptable. Apologies a million times, but the food wasn't any better. The food was, well, the fries were way too salty. Overall, nothing was satisfactory for us. It's a shame if things continue like this, and I don't see a future for this restaurant.

The food was far too expensive and inedible. The value for money was absolutely not good. The deep-fried schnitzel was terrible, the sauce was from a packet, and the mushrooms were from a can. The mussels were served in a bowl instead of a pot and got cold very quickly. The mussel sauce was poorly seasoned and inedible. The side salad was poorly seasoned. It's hard to believe a chef could have done this, both for around €19 each. We won't be eating there again.

As always on our holidays, it's worth one or more visits. Very nice and friendly staff who always try to please everyone, always a friendly word 😃 The food was delicious and everything freshly prepared, what more could you want?

The service staff doesn't understand you, and the food—we had several dishes—was simply disastrous: tasteless, cold, and the pork steak was bloody, which is completely unacceptable. So, all in all, never again at Am Kamin in Westeraccumersiel.

Due to the predominantly good reviews and the fact that some of the local restaurants were closed, a table was reserved for the evening. The ambiance is quite quaint with appropriate lighting; you have to like that kind of thing. The service seemed overwhelmed throughout; even the reservation was taken incorrectly, so that upon entering, an employee initially reacted dismissively. That's actually a deal breaker for me!!! So, should I drive to Norden or Norddeich again? That would have made sense, because it wasn't meant to be today: The kitchen service also left much to be desired, and the dishes ordered were a disappointment. Neither the enjoyment nor the value for money were right here. The fish soup had more vegetables than fish, and unfortunately, there was no proper basic broth or appropriate spices. The side salad was simply bland and lacked a decent dressing... The pork loin steak was equally tasteless, and the fried potatoes served with it were drowning in oil. The flambéed skewer was overcooked, and, not surprisingly, there was no proper flambéing at the table. The greasy fried potatoes were also served with it, even though French fries had been specifically ordered. These arrived later without comment. The restaurant doesn't deserve a return visit under this kitchen team. The staff should coordinate their workflows, and individual employees should also improve their friendliness towards customers.

A quaint restaurant with very friendly staff. The food was consistently very tasty; all of the dishes we had were impressive. The portion sizes were absolutely fine. The prices are on the higher end, but you also get good quality. A little lower prices would still be desirable. One positive highlight is the salad, which is served undressed. This allows you to add your own dressings, which we found very convenient. It was a bit irritating that the menus weren't complete everywhere. Some pages were missing, which made choosing a bit difficult. Despite a few minor flaws, this is a definite recommendation. Anyone who values ​​good food and a pleasant atmosphere will be in good hands here.

Beautiful, quiet, and cozy beer garden, delicious food. Outstanding customer service! When I was there a few days ago, I was given the daily specials and asked for smaller dishes because I simply can't eat that much. The young waitress immediately said that I could, of course, have any dish from the daily specials as a senior's plate. I chose pork loin with croquettes, which arrived quite quickly. Unfortunately, they weren't cooked all the way through. When I complained, I immediately received an apology and a request for a replacement. I said it would be sufficient if they just threw the meat back in the pan. But the chef didn't want that, so after a short while, as an apology, the kitchen brought me the standard portion plus sauce and mushrooms (at no extra charge), along with the information that any leftovers would be packed up. The ambiance and food were great, and the service from the young waitress was truly outstanding. You feel welcome and would gladly come back :-)

The food was delicious, and the portions were really large. The chef and his staff were friendly and accommodating.

Good portions at a reasonable price. Both fish and meat were very good. There was homemade remoulade, reminiscent of herring stew, which was very tasty. It was very crowded, so reservations are definitely a good idea. Because of this, everything took a while, but the staff made up for it with their friendliness and warmth. All in all, an honest, authentic restaurant with excellent cuisine.

We went there for dinner for my wife's birthday. We had reserved a table in the beer garden the day before, requesting a table in the shade due to the current heat. This was confirmed. When we arrived, we were seated at a small table directly in the sun. After an initial discussion with the waiter, it turned out to be a lovely evening. The food was fresh and extremely delicious. We had absolutely no complaints. The prices are a bit high, but justified. We would recommend the restaurant without reservation. The interior of the restaurant is also quaint and cozy.

We go there often. But unfortunately, we were so disappointed today. The service is great. But the fish soup has more vegetables than fish and no flavor. The same goes for the broccoli soup. Absolutely a minus for the food. The chef should take a cooking class.

We visited the restaurant today and were very satisfied! Our two dogs were accommodated, and we were assigned appropriate seating! We started with a salad plate, and my allergy was immediately taken into account! We opted for the pilot and grill plates! Both arrived without long waiting times and were perfect! The fried potatoes were crispy and nothing was overly greasy, as some reviews complained about! The staff were friendly, and we even got a house drink at the end! The portions were generous and the value for money was good! We'll definitely be back!

A lovely spot by the dam with a cozy outdoor terrace. The service was extremely friendly! My mussels were very good quality, but unfortunately very bland in taste, cooked and served in practically unsalted water with some vegetables. A knob of butter with the baguette would have been nice. My husband's fish dish was good; the fish was beautifully tender and juicy. The fried potatoes were cooked a bit too long or too often in the pan. Despite everything, it was a lovely evening.

We went to this restaurant twice within three days. The first time, we were absolutely thrilled with the quality of the food and the speed of the service, even though it was by two very nice older ladies. Everything was spot on. The onion steak was perfectly medium-rare, the flambéed skewer with various meats was simply amazing; the meat was incredibly tender. The salad was also delicious, as was the Barre beer. So we went back two days later. And this time, everything was anything but thrilling. The young waiter took about 30 minutes to bring us our drinks, and the same steak wasn't as good as the first time – too rare and hard to chew. We didn't understand why. So sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get unlucky. But the seating in the garden by the water is very nice. And dogs are welcome. It's best to make a reservation in advance, as the restaurant gets very busy, especially when the weather is nice outside. The price for two people was perfectly fine: €65-70

The restaurant isn't located on a main road, but is somewhat tucked away in a residential area. We received a very friendly and welcoming welcome and service. The pilot's plate was very generous, with various types of fish and a side of fried potatoes. However, the remoulade sauce advertised on the menu was missing. We only noticed this when we looked at the flyer at home. We started with a small salad plate, which was unusual because it didn't contain the usual standard ingredients – see photo. It was accompanied by two different sauces, each served in a small glass. The restaurant filled up quite quickly, so a reservation is probably recommended. The value for money is good – card payments are easily accepted. All in all: we had a pleasant evening, everything was delicious, and we've already made reservations for the following week. :-)

Not really good. The fish platter and flambéed skewer were okay. However, the baked schnitzel was dry and tasteless, and the bacon-wrapped pork loin was still partly raw and very stringy. We were extremely disappointed. When we paid, the staff were very confused and seemingly overwhelmed. We won't be back.

I found the ambiance very pleasant and the value for money of the food and drinks reasonable. I had a meat dish on two visits to the restaurant and would have appreciated, for example, if the medallions had been seared a bit crispier and seasoned more strongly. Salt and pepper aren't always ideal for seasoning. The bacon-wrapped green beans and the two dips served with the meal were spicier, however. Unfortunately, the vacation wasn't quite long enough; I would have liked to try the fish dishes as well.

We discovered your restaurant while out for a walk and spontaneously decided to make a reservation. When we made our reservation, we pointed out that a woman in a wheelchair and a baby would be part of our group, and therefore requested a seat at the edge of the dining room with the best possible access. Unfortunately, this request was not honored during our visit, which made our stay somewhat more difficult. Although they tried to make the little one comfortable with a chair, which was very kind, We would like to highlight the menu with plaice and asparagus, which tasted excellent. The "pirate skewer" was also very successful and will remain in our fond memories. We were less satisfied, however, with the crab soup, which only contained a few crabs and unfortunately lacked flavor. The combination of onions, flour, and tomatoes seemed unbalanced. When we mentioned this, the server simply suggested we could simply swap plates. When we paid, the employee asked again whether everything was to our satisfaction. Unfortunately, our renewed, honest feedback was not taken seriously – instead, she simply commented that we had swapped the plates back and forth anyway.

The food was really excellent. Unfortunately, that was it. I don't think it's a bad thing when a restaurant is a family business and the staff aren't trained like a hotel. But here it was very uncoordinated. Not only that, and not just ours, orders kept getting forgotten. The server comes over to us to clear away, asks if everything was to our satisfaction and before we can even catch our breath, turns to the next table to ask if the ice cream has arrived. I would have liked to order something to drink, but didn't get the chance. When I tried to pay with my debit card and was told that there was no tip included, I really had to hold myself back.

We were there for the first time recently. We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance! It's quaint and cozy, and you immediately feel at home. We received a warm welcome. The food was prepared quickly. I had the grilled meat, which was beautifully presented on a plate. It was delicious, but I had to leave some left over because the portion was so large. My wife ordered the crab pancake and loved it. We finished off with a Friesengeist (a spirit). The value for money is absolutely fantastic, and we highly recommend this restaurant!

Cozy restaurant with very friendly service. I chose mussels and was not disappointed in the taste or quantity. Very original idea, the mussels were served in a small blue metal bucket, and a small red bucket was used for the empty shells.

In short: very neat and always happy! Food was good - the salmon pan tasted good, the asparagus as well… Only 4 stars because the fish was already a bit overcooked and the hollandaise sauce tasted very much like a ready-made sauce. (Of course, the rating must be considered in combination with the prices quoted!). Very really lovely and really tried hard - it was very full but it was still very civilized, calm and level-headed. And very friendly towards the guest. Very happy again.

Unfortunately a bit hidden, but an absolute insider tip. For us the local restaurant The service was very courteous and polite, the food was excellent and a very good price-performance ratio. As a starter we had fish soup and a small salad. The roll with the soup was even warm and the dressings were homemade. The main course was the cutter's plaice and the pilot's plate, changing things up was no problem at all. The tartar sauce was also made in-house. Everything was very, very tasty. Kudos again to the kitchen.

All in all a great evening, great value for money!

Quaint local. Very friendly service, very good food. We were unlucky that our waiter worked there the first evening and one or two things went wrong. Crab soup and salad were plentiful and tasty as starters. Unfortunately, the salad only came when we asked. The beef steak was great and the cooking was perfect. Unfortunately the fries and salad were forgotten with the steak. The flambéed skewer of pork, chicken and turkey, grilled vegetables and fried potatoes (which were very plentiful!) came with additional beef, so my other half, who doesn't eat beef, had to leave it alone. When we asked, we were told by a very friendly, long-established waitress that the chef had varied. We didn't have to pay for it, but I took it with me and ate it at home the next day. We were also offered a replacement dish and the staff were visibly uncomfortable that something like this had happened. Then we ordered dessert and it was first class! There was also an aquavit as compensation and the forgotten fries and salad were deducted from the bill. Conclusion: A nice evening saved with humor! We're all just people, a waiter who's new and a cook who means well but can't know that someone doesn't eat beef, that can happen, but it's not a reason for devaluation!

Rustic restaurant. To feel good. Nice service and reasonable prices. We will definitely be visiting there regularly. We were very satisfied and can only recommend the visit.

On March 1st, 2025, 35 members of the Nessmersiel Yacht Club were here in the restaurant to eat kale after Bosseln am Deich. An excellent kale buffet with all the trimmings was offered. All participants were enthusiastic about the delicious food, the service and the cozy atmosphere.

We ate there again after years in September 2024. And I have to say it's gotten really bad. It was a really good restaurant about 10 years ago, but apparently they couldn't maintain the standard there. Either the owner has changed or a new chef has been hired. Long waiting times, waited almost an hour for food and got a terrible table. Outside the toilet windows...it's unbelievable to put a table there, it's not possible at all in my opinion. Waiters tried hard but unfortunately they didn't do anything to improve the bad food. It's really a shame what happened to it. I would say living at the limit.

Rustic and cozy - by the fireplace. You can dine well in an East Frisian atmosphere. Nice selection of dishes, tasty and nicely prepared. The service duo (two 'aging' ladies) master the guest room with East Frisian mentality and calm and make the stay "by the fireplace" something special. Thumbs up for a few cozy hours!

When you enter the restaurant you are initially pleasantly surprised by the rustic, cozy atmosphere. The starter salad also leaves you wanting more. It's fresh, crunchy and deliciously prepared. But if you order one of the meat dishes (we had the grill plate and the councilor's pan), you need a sharp knife. The meat is “fried to death”, very dry. The councilor's pan would have needed a lot more sauce, but there was hardly any. But there were even more fried potatoes. Oh yes, I also found two small pieces of meat. It's completely incomprehensible to me why all of this is served in a cold pan. Apparently it was just for decoration. 🤔 Conclusion: you can eat really well in Dornumersiel, but not here. Too bad!

Sitting comfortably, the background noise is important to me, here: very pleasant, friendly service at all times, even when things get busy. And the food: we eat our way through the menu, always very tasty, even to the eye. And our good dog is always welcome.
