The food was amazingly delicious and the price was absolutely reasonable. Even without a reservation, we were quickly seated despite the packed restaurant. The service was very friendly and fully accommodating to our every need. Unfortunately, you don't experience that everywhere!

To explain, we are from the catering industry ourselves... so any phrases are completely out of place...! We came in and followed another couple. They were greeted in a friendly manner and we were completely insulted... that the reservation list was somewhere else and this "service person" would have to look first... in response to our objection that we had no clairvoyant abilities, this "service person" became a little friendlier... if you can call it that...! Ordered food: Dirt carts and a Greek potato pan…All side dishes for both dishes were cold! Mushrooms, beans, onions, peppers…everything. Instead of redoing it or at least warming it up, we were played for fools (stupid guests with no idea...) and fobbed off with empty phrases... after 45 minutes we were out of there! And look, there was suddenly a sign where you should wait... The bad thing is that they don't pay any attention to it anyway, because they don't give a damn about individual opinions! The main thing is mass production and that's it... a waste of money and never again!

And unfortunately it didn't taste good at all. The potatoes with the asparagus didn't taste like potatoes at all!!! The salad was carelessly prepared and bland. Very rustic atmosphere and staff. We had the impression that a lot of people could quickly get through the restaurant, but there wasn't any quality to offer.

Everything was great. Food was super tasty 😋, staff was on top of their game and very friendly. We were literally in seventh heaven.

Today we were out and about in the old town of Wernigerode...Hunger took us straight to the potato house...and we have to say...Hunger took us to the right restaurant...Service = Top...Food = Top...Price = Top...if we are in Wernigerode again...we will definitely come back...👍👍👍

We ordered the potato platter for 2 people. So neither of them can be good eaters. Meat was ordered medium and came on the plate as a shoe sole. Croquettes were only enough for one person, vegetables were out of the bag and tasted like nothing, the fries I ordered were without salt and completely soggy, meat was very dry... Were very disappointed. You expect something different, something special from a potato house. Above all, we relied on the reviews and were very disappointed - but the service is great. Unfortunately we cannot recommend it. Too bad 😔

We made a reservation today for our vacation in Wernigerode. Everything went great. The table was very nicely located. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating. They left nothing to be desired. The menu offers a wide selection. All dishes are freshly prepared and very tasty. There was nothing to complain about. Highly recommended!

02/24/2025 -Very expandable- - The food was okay and tasted good, good home cooking. - The clientele around us was rather simple, loud video calls while eating at the neighboring table, loud discussions. - The staff was rather overwhelmed. We had to wait a good half hour for our food and then another 15 minutes for the bill. The slim, short-haired lady should learn a little politeness. She barked very rudely at the guest at the next table when he asked for the bill. - We wanted to celebrate there with a group, but now we'd rather look for something else.

Highly recommended! Great food, really great service, child-friendly, just perfect all around! We got a table for Saturday lunch without any problems. If we go on vacation to the Harz again, we will definitely visit this restaurant again. :)

The map is small but sufficient. It tastes great and there is something for everyone. The decor is nice and rustic and cozy. Parking spaces are available but are rare during the day so come early. I would always make a reservation because it is very busy. A big plus point is the staff, they were very friendly and always tried to make sure everything was OK. That made our stay even better

Classic tourist shop, very large and rustically furnished. Menu equally rustic. Table reservation required, time slot of 2 hours is specified. We then waited 45 minutes for the food. Then the dumplings were half raw and cold. Another person chose the cream instead of the potato cream because of lactose intolerance and asked for a little more tomato sauce. Cream was still on it and the little tomato sauce was ordered later and was actually included on the bill! Zero service, long wait for second round of drinks. Conclusion, it doesn't have to be, classic tourist trap, mass instead of class! There are better ones. Price performance acceptable.

Zero stars for a reserved place for 2 people who arrived 10 minutes late and was then given away to 2 other people. You are only allowed to eat there for 1 hour with a choice of food. Absolute impudence!

The potato house is beautifully decorated. That fits. I don't really like the cards as table mats, but full points for the ambience. The service is friendly. One star deducted because after the food was on the table, the service was no longer there. Shortly after you started eating, asking if everything was ok would have given the kitchen a chance to fix its mistake (the egg in the farmer's breakfast wasn't cooked). A mistake in the kitchen can happen, but the service has to fix it. Overall we didn't like the food. These weren't fried potatoes, but rather fried potato-style pieces of potato. That doesn't suit a restaurant that calls itself a potato house. The side salad was inconsistent; Apparently everything that was there was put in and then some dressing was added over it. The leaves would have been better soaked in a dressing and not everything there should have been in the salad. Potato cream for a farmer's breakfast? Then please put it on the side and not on top. Overall, I won't go back and can't recommend the restaurant.

We had booked a table for Christmas. the restaurant was completely booked. We were warmly welcomed and taken straight to our table. After a short while the waitress asked for drinks and made recommendations. She pointed out to us that it would take a little longer, but that wasn't a problem for us. Drinks came immediately, food and a reasonable time. There was nothing wrong with it visually or taste-wise. We will definitely eat there again.

The food tasted good, but given that the restaurant is called “Kartoffelhaus”, the portions of fried potatoes included in the menu were very, very small, at least for us. We were guests at a small family celebration on a Saturday evening in a rustic atmosphere. The restaurant was very busy, but the service was very hardworking and attentive. But unfortunately good service cannot be everything. It's okay that food is no longer available. But the fact that they are no longer serving Hasseröder beer due to the upcoming company holidays because tapping a new barrel isn't worth it left us a little speechless. The selection of food is okay, but there is no wow factor. The use of frozen croquettes in a potato house is also incomprehensible. I then decided on a dirt cart and was disappointed. Both my meat and my son's trout were completely overcooked (very dry!). The other side dishes were also just average. The other guests thought their food was okay. In response to the criticism, the waitress offered a free dessert and was otherwise very nice. But unfortunately that's not enough to justify another visit.

Based on the ambience and the reviews, we went to the potato house without a reservation. When we asked if we had reserved, we said no. The only response was a snippy “we don’t have room”, good luck finding it. We were lucky, but we'll never enter this store again. There should be a certain level of friendliness in the service. Accordingly, the lady should reconsider her area of ​​responsibility.

All in all, an unfortunately mixed evening today. Service sometimes takes a long time to arrive and speaks in a very loud and imperious tone, so that you can hear it across several tables. Disturbs a nice evening for two. Some of the potatoes were as hard on the inside as a carrot (not fully cooked) and the roulade had a lot of tendons and a thick artery. Of course, it shouldn't be the case that the potatoes in a potato house aren't cooked through. There was nothing wrong with the Greek potato pan. To make matters worse, they also forgot to bring us a drink. All in all, unfortunately not a successful evening.

Unfortunately the food was very bad. The steak was well done, the duck was wobbly and the chicken had a crazy texture. The fried potatoes were well fried. But unfortunately everything wasn't seasoned or was seasoned far too little and was swimming in fat. The fish also swam on the plate. The service was great. They were quick and friendly. I forgot to tip because I was so upset about the food. I am very sorry about that.

We had dinner there yesterday on Christmas Day. So we wanted it. Unfortunately we didn't receive any food. It has to be said that it was very, very busy and the waiters were really busy. But after 1 1/2 sitting just getting drinks (the order for food has been taken), especially with a small child (and children are usually very impatient) is really hard. We were really looking forward to the food, but unfortunately we were completely disappointed. I hope you are working on training your employees (even the older ones) to pay a little more attention to their surroundings. Because especially on days like this, it just has to sit right.

Despite the Christmas market, we still got a place without a reservation. Even if only for 1 hour, but the service was so fast... it couldn't be better

Our group traveled over 400 kilometers for a diamond wedding. We reserved a table for 6 p.m. (although there are only time slots from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.). However, we had the booking confirmed the day before for 6:00 p.m. Sitting down took a good 15 minutes. We were a group of 10 people - how are we supposed to manage everything with ordering, eating, etc. in just under an hour? The communication is pure disgrace, as we were also greeted with the words: “Well, get ready Lost at the Christmas market?”. Dealing with guests like this is disastrous. This should be deepened again in a training course. We only had an appetizer and a drink, although the seasoned meat was tasty - but a "slice" of baguette wasn't enough.

Pork medallions from the "dirty cart" are more than dead. (You have to do that first 😡). Half the duck without any spices, wobbly skin, sauce from the box and the dumplings half raw and sticky. Mind you: potato dumplings in the potato house!!! There has to be more, but if one tourist doesn't come, the next one will come. Not nice. The service was very friendly, but that alone isn't enough. NEVER AGAIN!

I haven't eaten so badly in a long time! I am a big potato fan and enjoy eating them in all variations. So, off to the potato house. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy. The waitresses were also very nice. Aaaabut the food was subpar. You can tell that it's convenience and mass production. There were five of us. The venison goulash was completely full of fat and tendons. My baked potato was disgusting to look at, completely glassy and didn't taste good at all. The crowning glory were the soups. Anyone who knows what solyanka is supposed to taste like would have thought it was bad. It was a tomato paste soup and the potato soup, can't be called potato soup, but water soup. The worst potato soup ever! This potato house doesn't live up to its name!

Conclusion of the evening: The cow died a second time. We booked a table with 9 people. After taking the drinks we had to wait almost 30 minutes. Now we were - it has to be said - in a completely full restaurant. However, the white wine was very stale and the beer no longer had any head. So it must have been ready for some time before it was served to us. My husband and I's food was initially forgotten. When the first people at our table had already finished eating, our dish arrived (potato house plate for 2 people). Unfortunately this wasn't worth the money. Although we asked beforehand how we like to eat the beef, it was completely cooked (see photo). My mother's dumplings also seem to have been ready-made. The sauce was definitely a finished product too. It's a shame, you actually expect more from a potato house. At least the waitress was very friendly and gave us a schnapps on the house. But the second star in terms of service.

Unfortunately the potato house was a disappointment. The ambience was very promising. Rustically furnished, with little niches, it promised to be a great evening. But the service was very fake. The food came far too quickly, so that one could not avoid the impression that everything had already been pre-cooked and was waiting to be eaten. This was confirmed when the potato house plate arrived. Different types of meat fried completely dead. The fried potatoes appeared to have been fried in old fat. The most disappointing thing, however, was that half the duck with red cabbage, which actually tasted good, came with dumplings out of the package. For me, potato house means homemade dumplings are a must.
