Restaurante bem localizado, o atendimento do garçom foi bem simpático e atencioso, mas nenhum prato estava bom. Pedimos 5 pratos distintos e todos deixaram a desejar, sem gosto, mal apresentado. Até um simples macarrão que pedimos veio ruim, mas cozido, com pouquíssimo molho, apesar da porção ser grande. Uma pena.

All in all, a 10 out of 10! Service was very attentive and courteous. We didn't even have to ask for a high chair for our little one; one was there right away. Art supplies were also brought to our table immediately. The food was delicious, and the wait was very short, despite the restaurant filling up quickly. You often read the phrase "one star because you can't give zero" in negative reviews on Google – here, you should say "five stars because you can't give more." It's rare that you're truly as completely satisfied with everything as we were tonight. Thank you for that :)

The price/performance ratio wasn't quite right. Overall, though, we enjoyed the food quite a bit. Wait time: about an hour after ordering, it was served. That's borderline. The ambiance is good, rustic, and authentic. Friendly service. Visited the Kartoffelhaus for the second time today. Ordered a Kartoffelhaus plate for two people. The various meats were good, but why are vegetables and croquettes served out of a packet? With so many visitors, it's worth offering at least fresh, seasonal vegetables.

The service was super friendly. We didn't lack anything. The food was incredibly delicious. We had a salad for starters, which was fresh and crisp. The main courses were delicious. Large portions, good meat, and tasty side dishes. The dessert was also delicious. We paid about €45 per person for three courses and two drinks each. We'll definitely be back.

We ordered an appetizer, which was served on two plates so everyone had a small starter. The main course portions were very generous, and the staff were very attentive (see appetizer). We'll definitely be back.

Very fast service. Very dog-friendly. After the third question, whether the dog should also have a bowl of water, I was a bit annoyed. What if dad drinks something and the dog shouldn't? Well, I did find the question a bit intrusive. The food came too quickly. Unfortunately, the food was only lukewarm and definitely not freshly prepared. The meat was good, though. However, I would have preferred proper steak sauce and steak pepper, i.e., unground, at the table for seasoning. Everything looked fine. The plastic tablecloth should be changed more often. You can see the marks from the previous customer. The food looked great, and the price was okay. I wasn't entirely convinced by the food, but I would recommend it. The service was very good, though.

June 12, 2025: I had schnitzel a la Kartoffelhaus. It's a shame, the potato wedges are frozen, the seasoned meat on the schnitzel was very bland, and it felt like 20 minutes before we could order a new beer, then the keg ran out, and it took even longer. The service was friendly. But I won't go there again. I wasn't expecting frozen food at a Kartoffelhaus.

We spontaneously visited on a Saturday evening and managed to get a seat despite the crowds. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside. We did have to wait a while to order because it was extremely busy, but the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful despite their busy schedule. The restaurant is beautifully decorated inside, and the food was delicious. Even as vegetarians, we were very satisfied with the selection. There's one vegan dish and several vegetarian options, plus a (very tasty) salad. We'd love to come back 😊

Unfortunately, my visit to the Kartoffel Haus in Wernigerode was somewhat disappointing. I had the beef goulash, but the dumplings served with it had hardly any flavor; they simply tasted of starch, not potato, which is particularly unfortunate for a restaurant with that name. The fried potatoes were also unfortunately undercooked. The medallions deserve special mention; they were well prepared and delicious. Unfortunately, the place setting at the table was not complete, and some servings were missing. The condition of the restrooms was less pleasing: One of the toilets was broken, but there was no indication of this, which led to a very unpleasant odor, no small feat even in a full restaurant. Overall, unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend the goulash or the restrooms; with a little more care, much more could have been done here.

Everything is fine so far, but if you sit outside the tram stop is annoying because one or two drivers leave the engine running.

The restaurant is in a great location and the interior is also very beautiful. The servers were very friendly, and we didn't have to wait long for the delicious food.

I was quite disappointed that the "potato house plate" for two people consisted primarily of meat and only included a few standard croquettes. I would have preferred more potatoes. For the price (just under €50), the meal wasn't particularly sumptuous, nor was it outstanding.

Ambience: rustic; strongly reminiscent of the medieval, preserved surroundings outside the restaurant Staff: very friendly and accommodating Food selection: an A3 menu and a printed drinks menu on a bottle (brilliant) showcase the best of the region, including potatoes and their many (sometimes unusual) variations. Food quantity/quality: short wait times, likely due to the consistent use of basic ingredients in all dishes. The unusual dishes themselves also taste very good and deliver what they promise. Food value: at around €25 for a drink and (many of the) main courses, it's within the range of typical 2025 prices. Highly recommended!

Good, home-style cooking with great service. Table reservations are required. It's difficult to book spontaneously. We really enjoyed it. The value for money is excellent.

Six of us went out to eat, and we all agreed that the food was okay, but not really worth the price. The breading on the schnitzel dishes was flat and overly greasy, and the schnitzel itself was incredibly dry (this was the case for all of us, so it wasn't an isolated incident). We were expecting variations of potatoes in the Kartoffelhaus (potato house) or just potato dishes. Variations weren't possible. For example, it wasn't possible to get just fried onions with the liver (which is actually the classic dish). The staff were very friendly, but obviously overwhelmed. It was really busy, but if you can't remember something in all the hustle and bustle, you just have to write it down so the customer doesn't have to ask for it every 10 minutes. All in all, it was okay, but we probably wouldn't go there a second time.

I was there alone and after 45 minutes I was completely done. The food came very quickly after ordering, even at neighboring tables. It was very tasty and a decent size. The menu isn't too extensive, but it's varied. I can highly recommend it.

Hello, I ate at the Kartoffelhaus on Saturday. The service was super friendly, the drinks and food were served quickly. I had a farmer's breakfast, which wasn't great. Tasteless, unseasoned, the wrong ham and bacon, the onion was almost raw, the egg was still runny and the preparation was wrong. What a shame! I was really looking forward to a nice farmer's breakfast. Regards

I'm thrilled with the restaurant. It's very tastefully and comfortably decorated. The service was friendly, and there weren't long waits. The food was delicious. I was also amazed at how it was presented. I ordered the "Dreckskarren" (dirty cart). I highly recommend it. 👍

I've visited this place now this year and last year. The food is average but not bad. The interior is very cosy, and they have a nice, quite outdoorseating also in the backyard. We came a bit in the rush after lunch. We told the guys, and they served us both superfast and extremely friendly. I would definitely go again!!

Very small portions, and the food wasn't warm enough. I can't recommend it. The schnitzel, for example, was half what you'd expect. It wasn't good value for money in my opinion.

The queue to get in was unfortunate and folk behind us wanted to push in because they had a reservation. Well, so had we! Would have been useful to have a member of staff managing the queue...but it was Saturday evening peak time. The service for the main course was faultless and the food really good taste and value. Had to wait an age to order dessert but we weren't really in any hurry and it was worth the wait. We only paid about £10 more than we would on a Saturday evening at home. Recommend booking in advance or you might get turned away at the door.

Everything is just perfect here. As hotel guests in the same building, we constantly arrived without a reservation, and they always made every effort to get us a table quickly, even though it was packed. Of course, we would have accepted a turndown. Despite the stress, everyone remains super polite, courteous, and attentive. The food is simply delicious and not as over-the-top as in other restaurants. We actually wouldn't recommend it at all, since we'd soon run out of space. ;-)

The selection is decent, and the atmosphere is OK. Considering it's called a potato house, the potatoes weren't particularly special. They were industrial potatoes peeled with lye. That's fine in itself. But from a potato house, I expected potatoes with heart :(

We had a farmer's breakfast and a potato house schnitzel. The farmer's breakfast was warmed potatoes with lots of onions and little egg. I know a farmer's breakfast differently. The potatoes should be really good in a potato house. Unfortunately they weren't crispy at all. Too bad. The schnitzel was obviously not home-breaded and the seasoned meat was obviously ready-made. That is unworthy of such a house. The service was very good and correspondingly quick for finished goods. We were full and enjoyed the ambience. Cooking is different.

Unfortunately, the portions of the dishes were very small and the taste was very bland. The schnitzel with mushrooms contained only one mushroom and the dessert of the day, “vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberries,” featured a quartered strawberry in the serving vessel. The entire presentation of the dishes was rather careless and not necessarily nice to look at. Our comments were laughed at rather than accepted by the staff. It's a shame, but unfortunately we can't recommend the restaurant.

Was here today and noticed that the potato house has deteriorated a lot. The service is nice and quick, everything is great but the service leaves a lot to be desired. In my opinion, there wasn't much of a selection left and the plate wasn't that surprisingly full either. Instead of the schnitzel with spiced meat, I got a normal schnitzel with fries. The ketchup must be very expensive because it was only spilled on 5 fries. Everything was also very dry, no sauce with it. My partner's dirt cart wasn't great either. The meat is too tough and not enough for him. It's a shame, but we'll cross this place off our list.

Absolute recommendation, perfect organization, perfect service.... Everything timed, but a full restaurant speaks of good quality... almost a miss when visiting... kudos to the concept, someone thought of it

The ambience of the potato house is beautifully decorated and the staff were also very friendly. There is a good vegetarian selection. Unfortunately I found the (vegetarian) food a bit bland. It was okay, had the veg. Farmer's plate and also the veg. casserole. But the friends with the meat plates also thought it was just okay. But as we all know, that is a matter of taste. The dessert was very tasty ;)

We ate at this great location with 9 people as part of a birthday dinner. When we arrived it was still empty, so we were able to enjoy the great, rustic atmosphere in peace. You immediately feel comfortable. The service was really very friendly and was approachable at all times. At no time did you have the feeling of being left alone. The drinks came quickly. What surprised me very positively was how quickly the dishes were prepared, even though we all had different wishes. The food was absolutely delicious and no one had the feeling that they had chosen the wrong thing. One or two portions were a little big, but here too the service asked immediately and gave the tip that we should take the food with us for later. All in all, this was a very nice visit and I'm sure we'll be back. Thank you. 😊

Min mand fik en udemærket og velstegt bøf. Kartoflerne virkede til at være posekartofler og salaten kedelig. Jeg valgte en asiatisk kyllingeret som var virkelig dårlig. Smagte af ingenting/dårligt krydret. Virkede til at være pose krydderi. Spiste kun lidt. Her vil vi ikke spise igen.

After we were guests at the potato house during our vacation 2 years ago and were actually very impressed at the time, we decided to visit again. Despite the well-filled dining room, we were seated quickly. The drink order went very quickly and was served to us in a friendly manner shortly afterwards. However, we were probably forgotten afterwards. After I brought this to the attention of the service team, they immediately apologized. So far so good. Meanwhile, an Aperol Spritz was also being served at the next table, although I only now noticed the different sizes of the glasses. The Aperol, which was shown on the drinks menu as 0.3 l, was served to us in a 0.2 l glass!! I then asked the waitress about it and was told that yes, that was because there were fewer ice cubes in our glass than in a 0.3l glass. Okay, I thought about my part and the issue was settled for me. Shortly afterwards, however, we were handed a smaller glass of Aperol with the words "on the house". So they had probably thought about the question again. Now to the dishes we ordered: brawn with salad and fried potatoes and a Greek potato pan, also with fried potatoes. We had the latter two years ago and it was really tasty back then. Unfortunately the quality couldn't be maintained. Fried potatoes should be the showpiece in a potato house, unfortunately they are totally under-seasoned, no bacon bits and just a few burnt onions in them. Feta and vegetables without any spices that might remind you of a Greek pan. The fried potatoes with the brawn are of course identical and clearly not enough. The taste of the brawn is okay, but the aspic content is too high for me. Conclusion: Service was very attentive and polite despite small deficiencies, unfortunately the kitchen didn't score points for us. Portions have also become smaller. Step on the gas again and talk through the review with the staff, then we'll be happy to come back to you!!!

Unfortunately we didn't like the food. Mashed potatoes with lumps and very watery, liver too hard, aspic sauce too old. These 2 meals were not eaten at all. They offered us free liquor. That's simply not enough. In order to avoid an argument, we didn't react properly and were content with the schnapps that was offered. We will refrain from visiting again and will not recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately we waited a long time for the food, which was certainly because the shop was quite full. The food itself was super tasty and the price-performance ratio is definitely right in this store. The service was okay but wasn't very well maintained, extremely greasy hands and very dirty fingernails, for me an absolute no go in the catering industry. The plates were beautifully arranged, but the remains of the previous dish were still stuck underneath. Unfortunately, this results in a point deduction in the overall ranking.

Of course, the food is great, the prices are ok. Staff very friendly, even with a very high number of guests.

To explain, we are from the catering industry ourselves... so any phrases are completely out of place...! We came in and followed another couple. They were greeted in a friendly manner and we were completely insulted... that the reservation list was somewhere else and this "service person" would have to look first... in response to our objection that we had no clairvoyant abilities, this "service person" became a little friendlier... if you can call it that...! Ordered food: Dirt carts and a Greek potato pan…All side dishes for both dishes were cold! Mushrooms, beans, onions, peppers…everything. Instead of redoing it or at least warming it up, we were played for fools (stupid guests with no idea...) and fobbed off with empty phrases... after 45 minutes we were out of there! And look, there was suddenly a sign where you should wait... The bad thing is that they don't pay any attention to it anyway, because they don't give a damn about individual opinions! The main thing is mass production and that's it... a waste of money and never again!

Zur Erklärung, wir sind selber aus der Gastro…also irgendwelche Phrasen sind völlig fehl am Platz…! Wir kamen rein und sind einem anderen Paar hinterher gegangen. Die wurden freundlich begrüßt und wir völlig angepampt…das die Reservierungsliste woanders liegen würde und diese „Servicekraft“ müsste erstmal gucken…auf unseren Einwand, dass wir keine hellseherische Fähigkeiten hätten, wurde diese „Servicekraft“ dann etwas freundlicher…wenn man das so nennen kann…! Essen bestellt: Dreckskarren und eine griechische Kartoffelpfanne…Bei beiden Gerichten alle Beilagen kalt! Pilze, Bohnen, Zwiebeln, Paprika…alles. Anstatt es neu zu machen oder wenigstens warm zu machen, wurden wir noch für dumm verkauft ( blöde Gäste ohne Ahnung…) und mit Phrasen abgespeist…nach 45 Minuten waren wir da raus! Und guck mal einer da, da stand dann plötzlich ein Schild, wo man warten sollte…Das Schlimme ist, dass die sich eh nichts davon annehmen, da denen die Meinung einzelner völlig schnuppe ist! Hauptsache Massenabfertigung und fertig…Schade ums Geld und nie wieder!

And unfortunately it didn't taste good at all. The potatoes with the asparagus didn't taste like potatoes at all!!! The salad was carelessly prepared and bland. Very rustic atmosphere and staff. We had the impression that a lot of people could quickly get through the restaurant, but there wasn't any quality to offer.

Today we were out and about in the old town of Wernigerode...Hunger took us straight to the potato house...and we have to say...Hunger took us to the right restaurant...Service = Top...Food = Top...Price = Top...if we are in Wernigerode again...we will definitely come back...👍👍👍

Das Lokal hat auch mittags geöffnet. Die Einrichtung ist rustikal und schön. Essen und Getränke kommen sehr schnell. Kann man mal machen. Guten Appetit. Gruß Martin.
