Urgemütliches Ambiente, kinderfreundlich, motiviertes Personal, tolles Essen zu fairen Preisen - jederzeit gerne wieder!!

Ich kann mich vielen Bewertungen nur anschließen. Wer in einem Kartoffelhaus nicht in der Lage ist, zumindest Kartoffelpuffer selbst frisch herzustellen, sollte sich überlegen, welche Intention er oder sie mit einem Namen verbinden möchte. Der Besuch dort hat uns wirklich sehr enttäuscht und man kann dieses Restaurant nicht mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen: viele Fertigprodukte und kleine Portionen zu hohen Preisen.

Das Lokal liegt in der Altstadt von Wernigerode. Die Speisekarte dreht sich hauptsächlich um die Kartoffel. Die Speisen sind gut zubereitet und waren sehr schmackhaft, das Personal zuvorkommend.

Wir haben heute Abend zu zweit spontan einen Tisch bekommen. Bestellt haben wir Schnitzel. Diese waren wirklich lecker. Leider bestand die Salatbeilage nur aus etwas Dosenmais und etwas Kraut. Die Kartoffelecken waren leider TK Ware. Für ein Kartoffelhaus hätten wir uns sämtliche Kartoffelvariationen selbstgemacht gewünscht. Das Servicepersonal war super.

Når en restaurant der kalder sig “Kartoffelhaus” serverer industrielt fremstillede “paprika kartofler” med den universelle smag af brændt smagsforstærker, så står det klart, at man er havnet i en turistfælde. I dette tilfælde var skaden dog begrænset; maden var sådan set OK, og med et par remindere undervejs blev både den og øllet serveret indenfor rimelig tid. Mørbraden kom med kantereller, og så kan (næsten) alt tilgives.

Easy, personally staff, good food we loved this restaurant. We ordered 3 different dishes and shared for wider range of tastes. Enjoy..

Kocken kan inte steka fisk. Dagens fisk, Kummel var hemsk. Mycket hård stekyta och torr inuti. Fisken var mycket het, som den blir när den värms upp i en mikrovågsugn. Fick som kompensation en bit lax filé. Lika illa igen. Kocken verkar inte känna till hur man steker lax. För fisk som har skinn steker man den mest på skinnsidan och mindre på köttsidan. Den stekta potatisen som serverades till var svart inuti. Däremot var salladen god.

Die Location war ganz nett, die Bedienung sehr freundlich und die Weine gut. Aber wir hätten erwartet, dass zumindest die Kartoffelgerichte etwas mehr selbstgemachten Charakter haben. Leider gab es Matschklöße aus der Tüte und schlabberige Wasserbratkartoffeln. Schade.

Wir waren zu viert, wollten zuerst im Garten sitzen, gut, dass wir uns anders entschieden! Wir hätten sonst ein liebevoll eingerichtetes Restaurant verpasst! Schöne Deko, schön umgesetzte Themen! Der Service sehr gut, zuvorkommend und freundlich! Das Essen war ausgezeichnet! Hausmannskost mit Kartoffelthema :)

A beautiful restaurant in Wernigerode, a little away from the tourist crowds. The food is very good and the portions are very large, absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is quaint and rustic, an absolute recommendation. The ladies and gentlemen from the service are very attentive and quick. A recommendation in this beautiful town in the Harz. Dogs are welcome and are cared for very attentively and at a physical distance. The water bowl for the dog came immediately after the pilsner.

We ate there and were so impressed that we went back the next evening. The food looks very good and is super tasty. The two meat dishes were great. The meat was tender and very well seasoned. The dishes with mushrooms are also just delicious. The service is very polite, attentive and accommodating. If we are in the region again, we will go to the potato house again. We recommend.

Es war das beste Restaurant während unseres Aufenthalts in Wernigerode. Man hat nicht das Gefühl wie auf dem Marktplat einem Touristennepp zu erliegen. Netter Service, Essen lecker.

The food was delicious and the portion was really huge. Unfortunately, the German-speaking waitress was rather unfriendly and snippy. Too bad.

Wir haben hier mit 6 Personen zu Abend gegessen. Das Brauhaus ist ein wirklich hübsch gestaltetes Restaurant, das in verschiedene "Zimmer" (nicht unbedingt geschlossene Wände) unterteilt ist und hat einen gewissen Charm. Uns hat allein das Lokal sehr gut gefallen. Das Essen war sehr lecker, es gibt natürlich viele Kartoffelgerichte, die Bedienung sehr zuvorkommend und auch unsere Hündin war kein Problem und wurde mit Wasser versorgt. Den Biergarten haben wir aufgrund des Wetters leider nicht weiter beachtet. Empfehlenswertes Restaurant mit guten Speisen, allerdings nicht ganz günstig ...

Really very nice atmosphere. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The selection of food is great and it tasted great. The price is also okay for what you can get.

Due to the high temperatures, I sat down outside of the restaurant and was served immediately and courteously. In addition to the reference to the menu, the daily specials were also referred to, and after a short time for consideration, the desired drink was asked and served quickly. In the meantime, I was able to observe perfect drinks service at the next table. When a wine recommendation was asked, preferences were asked and then two alternatives were listed and their characteristics were perfectly described. When ordering the food (fire meat), we were assured whether you could really tolerate the spiciness, so I felt well looked after. The food, which was served after a short wait, was really very tasty, the meat was tender, the sauce was spicy as expected, all in all a very nice dinner, so I am sure that I will definitely visit again on my next stay in Wernigerode.

Nice service, at least one waitress also knew the dish of the day, out of 3 waitresses. As a potato house, when the potatoes aren't ready, you start to ask yourself questions. Food cold, fillet an impertinence, tough small portion, not good meat quality!!!!!!! There is culinary delights here in town but not in the potato house!!!! No thanks for the money.

This is the top of what you can experience. Food, service and atmosphere perfect. We had 2 snack plates that were put together on a board, it was awesome. Finally a restaurant where you don't have to ask for bread or butter because it was very sufficient. When we're back on site we'll come by again. Tip: To be on the safe side, order a table because what was going on on Sunday would be something that many restaurants would like to see. Stay healthy and thank you very much.

It's an absolutely great restaurant and the food is really good. I ate Greek potato pancakes and it was really tasty 😋 I can only recommend everyone to eat there! You will not regret it

We went to the potato house based on the recommendation and the reviews, but unfortunately we were disappointed. The restaurant's atmosphere is great and the service staff are also very attentive and polite. Unfortunately we had a letdown with the food, when we got it it was only lukewarm, the meat was dead, the fried potatoes were soft and limp and there was no seasoning anywhere, even the gravy was completely bland. Of course there was salt and pepper on the table, but the food should have a basic seasoning and the portions were also very small.

We are more than thrilled. We went to the potato house for the first time today and were impressed by the atmosphere as soon as we walked in. The waitresses were all very friendly and accommodating. The food not only looked good but also tasted delicious

We had dinner there as a family of five, the taste of the food was okay, but it is a great shame that in a potato house, with the exception of the fried potatoes, only convenience foods (finished industrial products) are served as a filling side dish. For us, croquettes, potato wedges and even the potato pancakes for our little one were frozen products. I also complained about this when paying, and the waitress only gave me a shrug of her shoulder. We found that very unfortunate. We wouldn't eat there again. We have different expectations of a potato house.

A very, very nice restaurant, with a great ambience. The selection of dishes is also great. Our choice was potato pancakes with salmon and a schnitzel gratinated with spiced meat and potato wedges. The food was first class and I can only recommend everyone who visits Wernigerode to eat there.

From the starter to the main course to the dessert, it is a culinary delight. The two of us ate very well and were very satisfied with our dishes (vegetarian). The price-performance ratio is absolutely right here and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our recommendation!

It was without a doubt one of the biggest disappointments of my life. You would expect to find in a restaurant with this name an endless choice of how to eat a potato. It was really difficult to find a dish where the potato is the star. We ordered the following dishes Folienkartoffel and Kartoffelpuffer mit Räucherlachs. The potato came in the aluminium foil literally, the cut left traces of aluminium on the potato. The potato cream has been less than a spoonful. The potato was literally put in the foil and baked, without any seasoning, butter or oil. The presentation was very tasteless. The salmon is the same as you can get in the supermarket, it was opened and put on the plate directly from the fridge. This restaurant has to improve a lot to carry such an important name.

We were here recently with the family and I would go here again on my next visit to Wernigerode: lots of seating outside, friendly waiters and a nice selection of potato dishes to match the rustic ambience. The Greek potato pan is particularly recommended

Wernigerode is almost like my second home. Of course the potato house shouldn't be missing. I've eaten here many times and it's tasted very good so far. Today I decided on the gnocchi pan with turkey strips. Unfortunately, this wasn't my case at all. There was too much sauce and too much cream. The turkey strips were too dry and firm. I had to look for the mushrooms. Dear potato house. Even though tastes are always individual; That could certainly be better. Don't worry, I'll be back 😉😁

The reservation online worked without any problems. You should definitely make a reservation for dinner. Unless the reviews advise against it. There was a nice seat in the very full guest room. The times from ordering to serving the food and drinks were also reasonable given the full store. The waitress was relaxed and friendly. So far so good. But compared to other potato houses, something is somehow missing. The cook, at least the one who roasts pork fillet, should read again how this noble meat is not roasted dead and dry. Addition a year later: was there today with my grandchildren. Luckily they are well behaved. Because a child has to cope with an hour of waiting for food. They were only given 1 star in the rating, I'll stick with 3 stars, food was good, plentiful and reasonably priced.

20240321 During our week-long stay in Wernigerode, our seminar leader invited us to dinner at the Altwerigeröder potato house. As soon as you entered, the potato house made an excellent impression - both the entrance area and the interior were attractively designed and cozy. The staff welcomed us extremely friendly and didn't seem annoyed at all; we were promptly shown to our table. The waiting time to order drinks and food was very short, which surprised us positively. The waiting times for drinks and food were also acceptable. My beer, a Hasseröder Pilsner, corresponded to local customs; Although tastes vary, it was easy to drink. The food was attractively served and the portions were generous - there was definitely no need to go hungry. The schnitzel was one of the best I've had in a long time, and the fried potatoes were both interesting and delicious. I can highly recommend my dish. The staff was not only friendly, but also humorous. Since we were invited, I can't comment on the prices, but I would definitely have been willing to pay for this meal. In summary, it was a very successful evening.

We ate there two days in a row. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. We had a comfortable place and were well looked after. Special requests for the children, even the baby porridge was warmed up and beautifully presented - almost without being asked😉 The food was very good, it was tasty on both days😋 We would love to come back on our next holiday!

Just great. We received a super friendly welcome. The waitress immediately gave us the daily recommendations when we were seated. Our grandchild received a large sheet of paper to color in and do puzzles with and of course pens. The food came quickly and was very tasty. We give it a full recommendation.

We were on holiday in Wernigerode and had already found out about the restaurant beforehand. The service was absolutely top, our dog was given a bowl of water straight away, the children were given something to paint with, the atmosphere is very nice, we enjoyed ourselves there Felt very comfortable and the food was absolutely amazing. It was very tasty. We will definitely be back next year

Very tasty food, would love to come again

We were there for lunch last Sunday with a larger group (12 people). Personally, I was disappointed. Considering it's a potato house, the potatoes were whitish and watery - not nice for a potato eater: they have to be yellow and tasty, NOT from a jar! The rest (schnitzel, knuckle, etc.) was ok. My salad was for the bunnies. The pieces of cucumber, who cuts vegetables so roughly???? Not tasty for the money. No special grains, no addition to bread, the salad is the simplest thing. Then the service: Corona for too long, right? Partly nice, partly well, new order for drinks: but then you have to wait...?!?!? I think: What can I think of ordering anything else? In addition, the drinks were too warm - ever heard of ice (who likes it)?!? And it was only cleared after repeated hints. As a guest you should point this out more and not accept everything. The food is too expensive for that. The ambience: very nice :-) homely and cozy - great!

Super FAST service Big praise for that!!! It was clearly too fast for us (and also for the table next door). From reception to drinks/food ordering + delivery it was just 20 minutes. The food was ok, unfortunately lukewarm and the vegetables were frozen. We also addressed it, unfortunately without much reaction, we pass it on... The atmosphere is really nice, cozy and invites you to linger, if it weren't for the "clearance", the service was always attentive and definitely sees the customer and empty drinks and plates.

Solid restaurant with typical Harz cuisine. But you can also find more special (potato) dishes. We definitely enjoyed it. The type of beer wasn't to my taste, but as written, that's a matter of taste. There are also a few other varieties to try. The ambience also fits into the picture. Half-timbered style furnishings. For me, it's a bit convoluted and maybe a bit old. Nevertheless, you feel comfortable here and we were served nicely.

There were 7 of us there today. As a local, I would like to write because of the professional service, which I myself as a businessman/traveller with the usual upscale (rarely good cuisine, unfortunately for a lot of money) gastronomy, have rarely experienced so well. The food and starters (potato/onion soup, hash browns, etc.) were sufficient and good and you didn't taste the "grained" stuff, as is often the case. Trout, farmer's breakfast, the brewery platter etc. were A1, unfortunately the bread was already pre-sliced ​​and no longer seemed fresh, rather dry, minor detail!!!! Maybe bake it yourself - lots of people do it or have it delivered - Kelber Iburg is awesome! It also stays fresh for longer;) Songs, my "dish of the day - grill plate" was difficult....the choice of meat was A1, the preparation unfortunately failed even on the second attempt....medium/medium rare became "dead" twice.... a third time, I didn't want to do any more harm to the dead animal....instead of "thin and visually big", I preferred "thin and smaller" with the appropriate cooking ridge. But hence the review...the waitress acted very professionally and accordingly. The fried potatoes and the bratwurst on the grill plate were still top notch! My wife's farmer's breakfast was - I'm not like that - the best we had! I don't like it, but then I ate the rest of her. So cool! The trout 1A, which I actually wanted to eat until we were introduced to the grill plate and which my father-in-law had eaten... Everything 1A except for the little mistake ;) We'll still be back! Down to earth and everything is super delicious! Thank you very much for the evening! I have - my wife has now understood it after 14 years - somehow 99.9% really unlucky...;) business/private. Out of 20 meals, the meat is medium/medium rare at 19 and I always manage to get through it somehow......so it's all good! Thank you very much!

Waren mit 10 Personen. Essen hat niemanden geschmeckt. Bauernfrühstück war eine Katastrophe. So schlechte Bratkartoffeln habe ich noch nie gegessen. Das hätte ich in einem Kartoffelhaus nicht erwartet.

Sehr lecker und eine tolle Atmosphäre. Nettes Personal und eine gute Lage in der Stadt. Empfehlenswert!

Wer in Deutschland lebt und arbeitet sollte auch deutsch sprechen und verstehen. Das war bei der Bedienung nicht der Fall. Das Essen war gut aber sehr wenig auf dem Teller. Das bin ich von den Kartoffelhäusern in Waren Müritz und Lutherstadt Wittenberg anders gewöhnt. Getränkepreise wie fast überall in Deutschland ausverschämt hoch und durch nichts zu rechtfertigen. Einfach mal keine Getränke bestellen. Rechnet euch den Literpreis aus und euch fallen die Augen raus vor Schreck. Hier wird wie überall nicht kalkuliert sondern über den Daumen gepeilt oder bei der Konkurrenz abgeschrieben.

Ich hatte das Gericht Dreckskarren. Finde die Portion klein.Wenn man an den Nachbarstischen den Vergleich zu anderen Portionen sieht. Das Essen war aber sehr, sehr lecker! Nur halt wenig. Service auch top 👍🏼

Nettes Personal, leckeres Essen, eigentlich gute Portionen, aber an Hand des Preises und der Beschreibung schwer einzuschätzen ob es eine kleine oder große Portion ist. Getränke gut. Ambiente relativ „hell“ von der Beleuchtung her, nicht so schön gemütlich. Einrichtung aber ok.

Schönes uriges Restaurant. Tolle Auswahl an traditionellen Gerichten rund um die Kartoffel. Für die Kinder gibt es Malzeug incl. Kinderkarte. Service sehr nett und die Wartezeit trotz gut gefüllter Tische kurz. Auf alle Fälle weiter zu empfehlen.

Das Essen war ganz ok aber es gab schon ein paar Sachen zu bemängeln. Das Gemüse war recht farblos und ich hatte den Eindruck, es kam aus einem der typischen gefrorenen Beutel, die man vom Supermarkt kennt. Die Kroketten waren sehr fein paniert, wie man es in Handarbeit eigentlich nicht hat. Zudem waren diese nicht mehr ganz warm. Das Fleisch war sehr gut. Für knapp 24 Eur den Teller im Dezember 2023 na ja grenzwertig. Die übrigen Essen der Familie sahen aber recht lecker aus. Das Ambiente ist nett. Wir saßen direkt neben der Küche, in welcher der Koch sein Personal sehr oft und lauthals "angeleitet" hat.

Gutes Essen - Guter Preis Am 31.12. ist die Gästeversorgung sicher eine Herausforderung aber wir hatten weder den Eindruck, das die Angestellten sich nicht stressen lassen. Freundlich und auf Zack. 17.00Uhr geöffnet und 17.07Uhr waren die ersten Speisen und unterwegs! Top organisiert. Lecker und reichhaltig war definitiv. Hausmannskost und lecker. Portionsgröße ist mehr als ausreichend.

Waren heute angereist und sind spontan ins kartoffelhaus gegangen. Empfang war freundlich, die Bedienung war auch freundlich. Essen und Getränke wurden gleichzeitig aufgenommen. Komischerweise kam das Essen vor den Getränken. Mein Essen war leider nur lauwarm, ansonsten hat es geschmeckt. Leider kam niemand mehr vorbei, außer zum abräumen und kassieren. Auf die Kritik des lauwarmen Essens wurde nicht weiter eingegangen, schade! Dann sollte man auch nicht fragen. Alles in allem Mittelmaß ***
