Despite the Christmas market, we still got a place without a reservation. Even if only for 1 hour, but the service was so fast... it couldn't be better

Our group traveled over 400 kilometers for a diamond wedding. We reserved a table for 6 p.m. (although there are only time slots from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.). However, we had the booking confirmed the day before for 6:00 p.m. Sitting down took a good 15 minutes. We were a group of 10 people - how are we supposed to manage everything with ordering, eating, etc. in just under an hour? The communication is pure disgrace, as we were also greeted with the words: “Well, get ready Lost at the Christmas market?”. Dealing with guests like this is disastrous. This should be deepened again in a training course. We only had an appetizer and a drink, although the seasoned meat was tasty - but a "slice" of baguette wasn't enough.

Pork medallions from the "dirty cart" are more than dead. (You have to do that first 😡). Half the duck without any spices, wobbly skin, sauce from the box and the dumplings half raw and sticky. Mind you: potato dumplings in the potato house!!! There has to be more, but if one tourist doesn't come, the next one will come. Not nice. The service was very friendly, but that alone isn't enough. NEVER AGAIN!

Ate there again for the first time since Corona. Very disappointed. Lots of ready-made and frozen goods. The schnitzel has nothing to do with a schnitzel. The vegetables were a ready-made frozen mixture. The turkey came from the salt crust. All in all, the price-performance ratio is not right. The service was very irritable at times. The ambience remains rustic, but simply overcrowded.

I haven't eaten so badly in a long time! I am a big potato fan and enjoy eating them in all variations. So, off to the potato house. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy. The waitresses were also very nice. Aaaabut the food was subpar. You can tell that it's convenience and mass production. There were five of us. The venison goulash was completely full of fat and tendons. My baked potato was disgusting to look at, completely glassy and didn't taste good at all. The crowning glory were the soups. Anyone who knows what solyanka is supposed to taste like would have thought it was bad. It was a tomato paste soup and the potato soup, can't be called potato soup, but water soup. The worst potato soup ever! This potato house doesn't live up to its name!

We were guests for the third time today and were again very satisfied. The waiters, the food, the ambience, just great.

After Corona we had a slightly weaker visit, but this year there was a second chance. It has been completely rehabilitated. Yummy. Nice, warm, atmospheric. Schnitzel the potato house style: unreservedly recommended

Overall a nice restaurant, friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. The food was also good except for the potato soup, which was anything but potato soup (dumpling water with mini carrots. A disgrace for a potato house.

Conclusion of the evening: The cow died a second time. We booked a table with 9 people. After taking the drinks we had to wait almost 30 minutes. Now we were - it has to be said - in a completely full restaurant. However, the white wine was very stale and the beer no longer had any head. So it must have been ready for some time before it was served to us. My husband and I's food was initially forgotten. When the first people at our table had already finished eating, our dish arrived (potato house plate for 2 people). Unfortunately this wasn't worth the money. Although we asked beforehand how we like to eat the beef, it was completely cooked (see photo). My mother's dumplings also seem to have been ready-made. The sauce was definitely a finished product too. It's a shame, you actually expect more from a potato house. At least the waitress was very friendly and gave us a schnapps on the house. But the second star in terms of service.

Is a quaint, iconic restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was super nice. We would love to visit again when we are back in Wernigerode.

Unfortunately the potato house was a disappointment. The ambience was very promising. Rustically furnished, with little niches, it promised to be a great evening. But the service was very fake. The food came far too quickly, so that one could not avoid the impression that everything had already been pre-cooked and was waiting to be eaten. This was confirmed when the potato house plate arrived. Different types of meat fried completely dead. The fried potatoes appeared to have been fried in old fat. The most disappointing thing, however, was that half the duck with red cabbage, which actually tasted good, came with dumplings out of the package. For me, potato house means homemade dumplings are a must.

A very nice and quaint place to have a relaxed meal. The reservation went smoothly on the same day. Despite the high occupancy, the service was excellent, as was the price/performance ratio. I can only recommend everyone who visits the city of Wernigerode to eat there.

Unfortunately, the daily specials were not presented to us, but they felt like they were at every neighboring table. Otherwise we would probably have chosen one of the unfortunately very few vegetarian dishes (pumpkin soup). Food was still very good. Feel free to stop by again.

A great house and good home cooking. The restaurant has a front and a back part. The front one is new and rustic with wooden falcons. Unfortunately, due to the high number of visitors, we were in the back area, another room that reminded us very much of a hotel breakfast room. That took a lot out of our good mood. Very inconspicuous from the outside but very nicely and comfortably furnished from the inside. The service is super nice and helpful and the food tastes great. Adjustments to the food were well addressed. Overall, highly recommended!

Ok, there was a lot going on, it was just lunchtime, but - although friendly when the staff was at the table - it was strange to see that the Asian staff was only responsible for the delivery and clearing away service. Table placement, orders, checkouts, etc. were only carried out by European staff. The food was okay, came relatively quickly, could have used a little more seasoning. The shop is rustic and furnished with good ideas, but there was a lack of cleanliness in some places (e.g. there was a fat layer of dust on the roof tiles on the inside, the placemats - which also served as a card - were partly dirty and looked shabby... Maybe laminate them?). ..

We went there for dinner yesterday without a reservation. We were lucky that we were there just after 5 p.m., otherwise we wouldn't have had a chance. The staff was super nice, both to us and to the children. They even arrived immediately with a bowl of water for our dog. In my opinion, the menu offers something for every taste. Our food was very tasty and my wine was also excellent. I can only recommend the restaurant and even the children asked if we would eat there again today. Full 🌟 for it!

The potato house was recommended to us. What a failure. The waiter told me personally, "Take off your shoes and come all the way in!" We didn't reserve a table and were seated on a siding. My food was lukewarm, the medallions were far dry. Catastrophic. We haven't eaten or sat so poorly in a long time. The place wasn't exactly clean. My husband was on the toilet. 4 urinals broken. No paper towels to dry hands. So we were very disappointed. Never again potato house in Wernigerode. 😡

Ich kann mich vielen Bewertungen nur anschließen. Wer in einem Kartoffelhaus nicht in der Lage ist, zumindest Kartoffelpuffer selbst frisch herzustellen, sollte sich überlegen, welche Intention er oder sie mit einem Namen verbinden möchte. Der Besuch dort hat uns wirklich sehr enttäuscht und man kann dieses Restaurant nicht mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen: viele Fertigprodukte und kleine Portionen zu hohen Preisen.

We came without a reservation, only had to wait a few minutes and were given a table where we were served quickly and friendly. All of the dishes we chose were tasty and appetizingly prepared.

Unfortunately we were a bit unlucky and had to eat in a breakfast room due to total overcrowding. Unfortunately, by the time the food found its way from the kitchen to us, some of it had already gotten a bit cold. Due to its popularity, it is advisable to reserve in advance. Creative, varied menu with a wide variety of potato dishes. Price-performance was okay so far. The overall impression, however, was that large masses of tourists were being processed here.

- Very rude and disrespectful service - We had to wait over an hour for the food and the spiced meat + baked potato is not recommended - We asked if we could order food and we got a clear “NO!” and then she walked away…

We went there spontaneously, although the house was full we were still invited in to wait at the counter. We were immediately served a delicious cold drink and after a short wait we were invited to the table. The wait was worth it. Very friendly and incredibly tasty 😋 We would love to come back.

It was a nice lunch there. I was given good and friendly advice about which dishes I could order given my gluten and lactose intolerance. Afterwards, it is rare for a meal to be as tasty as a resin goulash. Otherwise we had brawn with fried potatoes and a children's dish. Our daughter also received art supplies. The atmosphere was very nice, rustic. Price-wise it was just okay.

We were there for the first time today. We ordered an Indian potato casserole and the dish of the day, which today was veal schnitzel with porcini mushrooms and fried potatoes. Both are highly recommended. The waiters are very friendly to the guests and the food came very quickly. It was a very nice experience.

It was just brilliant. Despite reservations, entry was a bit slow and annoying at first. But that shouldn't detract from the entire evening. Super nice and funny service and advice. We were thrilled. Even in between, an employee always came and checked whether everything was OK. We liked the food very much. We were full and didn't feel stuffed. Thank you very much for this really lovely evening.

Wow, what an experience! Everything is just right here. The food is absolutely amazing! The grilled dishes with Bratis were cooked to perfection, juicy and incredibly aromatic. You immediately notice the high quality of the products and the passion with which they cook here. The side dish was also delicious and perfectly balanced. The daily menu was a culinary revelation! Every dish was a poem, creative, sophisticated and simply delicious. And then I think his name was Ole! What a waiter! I have rarely seen anyone so attentive, friendly and competent. He gave us fantastic advice, was very knowledgeable about the menu and always had a smile on his face. His charming and funny manner rounded off the evening perfectly. You can tell that he loves his job and wants to ensure his guests have an unforgettable stay. Conclusion: Absolutely recommended! Everything is just right here: food, service, ambience. We were here 2 evenings in a row. The operation and service are second to none. Attentive, approachable and absolutely professional. The food was absolutely perfect, meat on point, well seasoned and portioned just right. We asked for dessert from the lunch menu and this request was granted with a smile on our faces. A big compliment to all the employees!

Unfortunately no food. I ordered dish 31. Four types of meat, croquettes and vegetables. Actually a safe bet for every chef. However, croquettes and vegetables were frozen goods. In a potato house where the tuber is the main attraction, croquettes should not be left out of the refrigerator. For just over 25 euros, I found that to be a disgrace. But there were also satisfied colleagues. There is definitely room for improvement here. But a lack of staff is probably responsible for the lack of taste here too.

Thank you for the great evening. We hadn't made a reservation and the boss, Mr. Karsten, seated us directly at a free table with a short waiting time. We had a lovely evening with really good service, nice and accommodating. We were having a b-day in the group and had mentioned something internally about it just before we went to the table. The boss noticed this and made a really great gesture to surprise the birthday child. All in all, we can recommend this restaurant and would repeat this great service/evening at any time. Delicious and very friendly staff

The service was very friendly and attentive. Since we sat outside, we can only rate the ambience outside, and we liked this one. Now for food: Unfortunately we weren't at all impressed with the food. As a starter we had the breaded mushrooms. And for the price of 8 euros, the portion was really a disgrace. There were 7 mushrooms rolling around wildly on the plate, a bouquet of salad and a dollop of “tzatziki”. I haven't seen anything done so carelessly in a long time. With 7 mushrooms you would think that they were giant mushrooms... Unfortunately not. They were normal sized to small mushrooms. Here you can get better and more mushrooms at every fair. The tzatziki was also more of a garlic cream and had little in common with a real tzatziki. For the main course we had the potato house plate for two people. The meat was overcooked and therefore very dry and the vegetables were overcooked. There were also a handful of croquettes that were fried so crispy that you could hardly cut them. Considering it's a "potato house" and all the dishes have corresponding names, the croquettes were a real disappointment, especially since they weren't even home-made. At least there was a gravy to go with the dry meat and the crispy croquettes. The plate of the main course was also not convincing. There is definitely room for improvement here. Overall the food was a disappointment and definitely not worth the money!!!

It was our best meal on vacation in Wernigerode! Super nice waiter! In my opinion, eating there is an absolute must! We had the potato house plate Pork, chicken fillet and turkey medallions with vegetables and croquettes It was very tasty and we would love to come back when we are in the area!

The lunch menu featuring noodles is fairly standard in taste. The Tagliatelle, made with local meat, is quite generous in portion. It is possibly too much for one person. While the dish is filling, it could be easily shared between two for a lighter meal.

The potato pancakes with smoked salmon and salad were a bit disappointing. The buffers, finished product, the salad with 80% white cabbage, there's something else going on. The service was nice and quick.
