Grüne Gurke in Wernigerode

Weihnachtsmarkt geschlossen wegen Gefahrenlage. Auf unsere Suche nach einem Ersatz fürs Mittagessen fanden wir am Rande der Stadt diese Lokal. Ohne Reservierung eingetreten wurden wir herzlich willkommen geheißen. Urig im inneren , die Decke im Gastraum ist zb mit Notenblättern beklebt. Das Essen. Schnitzel des Hauses und Berliner Leber. Portionen unfassbar groß. Und dabei lecker und günstig. Hätte ich sechs Sterne gäbe ich sieben davon. Tolles authentisches Personal.

Tja, was soll ich sagen, wo soll ich anfangen.... die Freundlichkeit lässt stark zu wünschen übrig. Ruppiger Ton seitens der Bedienungen geht mal gar nicht! Die Portionen sind groß, aber Geschmack und Qualität sind leider fehl am Platz. Zugegeben, es wurde gut angerichetet, aber das war es allerdings auch. Schnitzel war groß und dünn, viel Panade, Gemüse aus der Dose und Soße aus dem Tetrapack. Da muss man kein Koch sein um das so abzuliefern. Das Servicepersonal sollte vielleicht mal ein wenig "Nachhilfe" bekommen, wie man einen vernünftigen Service leistet. Wenn man benutze Gläser ohne Tablett abräumt, also in die Gläser greift, dann sollte man sich auch die Hände waschen, bevor man das Essen zum Gast bringt!!! Soetwas geht gar nicht. Schade, es war mal besser!

So the best restaurant far and wide. I'm a repeat offender and it was a pleasure again. We were there with a larger group for a birthday and the service worked like an anthill, really great. The food is really good, very tasty and very filling. Great portions and really well done. As promised, we will come *even* more often.

Even though we made reservations and the house was full, I have to say the two service guys were very nice, friendly and attentive. The food was really tasty and the portions were enough to fill you up. Would go to Grüne Gurke again at any time.

Today I ordered a farmer's breakfast, my friend also looked very nice and very large. Unfortunately the dish was hardly edible and we had to return over half of it. The potato slices were so hard that I couldn't pierce them with a fork. They must have lain outside for a day or two. I can't explain it any other way. The food was very dry. It's a shame, I love eating farmer's breakfasts and have eaten many, but at the age of 60 I have never experienced anything like this.

Incredibly good and delicious food 👍. And the portion size is gigantic. We hadn't made a reservation and thought there wouldn't be that much going on on a Wednesday evening - but that wasn't true. Nevertheless, we got a seat and were served nicely and courteously. The food was excellent and really a lot. We will definitely go here again when we are in the area 👍👍

I was looking for a place to have lunch on Sunday, I searched online. Harz or Thuringia, but I came to Wernigerode. Food was great, huge portions and tasty. Can only be recommended. Service class.

Hello, I've been coming here for over 40 years. Yesterday we had roulade and wild ragou. We were disappointed in the taste and had the feeling that it was frozen and thawed, which was confirmed to us. We had already noticed it on the last few visits, but with three chefs it's not always the same. My stomach had thanked me and the evening didn't sound fulfilling without tea. Too bad. It's better to have a smaller menu that's fresh and tasty.

There were three of us eating. Not the first time and definitely not the last time. The food is consistently good and the portions are generous. Nobody has to leave here hungry again. Sometimes it could be a little spicier. The furnishings range from rustic to cozy and the service is polite and courteous. In summer you can also sit outside. A reservation is very advantageous as it is often well attended.

The atmosphere is like a journey back in time to the GDR. The portions are very large and very tasty. The people are really nice and helpful. Unfortunately there is a lack of staff and it is unclear whether it can continue. An experience for all the senses and somehow difficult to compare. I look forward to another visit.

Wow, that was a cabbage roll. Huge, great value for money and best of all, it tasted like grandma made. Delicious...The "DDR Jägerschnitzel" was very tasty. You don't need an appetizer unless you're really hungry. There is also a delicious mixed salad. Conclusion: 10 points. Definitely come here. Thanks also to the nice waitress who had exactly my sense of humor.

The two of us just had dinner here. We actually wanted to go somewhere else but then I discovered this menu while searching and I'm so glad we went here. We haven't eaten so well for a long time, very plentiful, tasty, excellent home cooking. If I could I would give 10 stars. We'll definitely come back when we're there again. Afordable doesn't mean cheap or boring. Traditional German food, Tasty and you leave some for later, cuz the portions are big.

If you drive from Leipzig to Gurke on Sunday to have lunch, that says it all. A table was ordered and that was a good thing. The food was tasty. We were served friendly and quickly even though the dining room was full. Would love to come back.

Telefonische Bestellung zum angegebenen Zeitpunkt abholbereit, auch nach längerer Fahrt war das Essen noch schön warm. Große Auswahl an Speisen, für jeden Geschmack ist etwas dabei. Qualität und Preise einwandfrei, kleines Manko: Leider keine Kartenzahlung möglich. Jederzeit wieder.

The food and service were simply great

This has been our regular restaurant for dining for years. Even when visitors come, everything goes wrong.

When you walk in front of the restaurant, you can't tell at first glance what's hidden inside. It's a small restaurant with lots of food. For me, I chose one of the many variations of the schnitzel. But it should be mentioned here that the schnitzels are really huge. The schnitzel itself and the side dishes are very tasty, fresh. The other food at our table was also very good. The waitress was always at the tables with a keen eye and pleasantly provided supplies. In general, if you're in the area, you should definitely go to Grüne Gurke if you're a little hungry. I can at least highly recommend it.

The concept is simple, the owner remains true to himself, German traditional home cooking 🍺🍗🥩🍖, is offered here in a large selection, super tasty 😋😋 and something for every man! Pork knuckle with sauerkraut and pea puree or the fine cabbage roulade, salad variations🥒🥬🫑🌶️🌽🥕 and the light cuisine is also presented. The restaurant is very busy, so a reservation is recommended📓🖊️. Here you experience tradition🏰, spiced up by very nice staff🙂☺️ in an old-fashioned atmosphere♥️! The chef 🧑‍🍳 who wields the spoon here does so with passion and successfully🏆! We sat comfortably outside🌞⛱️, with a fine Berliner Weisse🥛, and were allowed to relax and enjoy! Eigendlich nur ein Vereinsheim, aber eine große Speisekarte mit über 100 Gerichten. Die Einrichtung ist etwas rustikal, aber die Speisen sind super lecker und die Portionen riesig.Wir waren 2x dort und immer war es voll.

The only negative point: it took a long time for drinks and food to arrive. But the restaurant is extremely well attended and the food was simply delicious (mushroom schnitzel, braised knuckle and farmer's breakfast). Price/performance is great. You could redo the bathrooms.

The very last thing. 3rd attempt this summer and disappointed again. Sent away once. We were forgotten on the second visit. First we were put in the blazing sun and no one was interested in us. After half an hour we were allowed to move to the shade and drinks could be ordered. We then had to wait another hour for our food. It wasn't full that day, mind you, otherwise we would have understood. Now was the peak. We were immediately sent away without being greeted and told that there would be no food here until 5:30 p.m. When I asked why, only evening preparation came. It wasn't even full. There was only one table occupied outside. Apparently this seems to be common on Saturday afternoons. The service staff was having a lot of fun at the counter. Guests just don't fit in there. There are plenty of other places that are happy to welcome guests. Never again!!

You are simply turned away by the staff on a Saturday afternoon because the kitchen is overwhelmed. We were supposed to come two hours later. I don't think we'll come back at all.

Yes, it's a bit difficult until you find the green cucumber, but once you're there it's highly recommended! The price/performance ratio is perfectly fine and the food is just great! The dishes are tailored to the point and prepared to perfection! The staff is very friendly and completely completes the positive overall impression. Any time!!!

The restaurant is rustically furnished, but I attach more importance to the food... and there's nothing to complain about. The menu is enormous. The dishes are really big and super tasty. So far veal liver, schnitzel, cabbage roulade, fire meat, everything, highly recommended. The service was nice and also in the mood to have a joke. Prices, for 4 people with drinks just over €20/person are great. You can pack the leftover food yourself and take it with you 👍. In the middle of the commercial area, plenty of parking spaces. We'll be back

If you want to shorten the waiting time for your food, you have the opportunity to look at old newspapers and sheet music on the ceiling. A very great idea, and I've never seen anything like it. Pre-ordering is an advantage, but there are also places available at short notice. The price-performance ratio is appropriate for the size of the food and not overpriced☝️. Good portions for price, good service.

The food is really great and plentiful... But the service is the last thing... The waitress has absolutely no interest in serving a guest properly and walks around with an expression on her face as if she doesn't feel like working, it will half forgotten, drinks take forever... if at all. So professional is something different. There is no hospitality here...

We really enjoyed our Christmas dinner there. As always, everything was very tasty and beautifully presented on the plate. I like it when there's actual cooking going on. Thanks also to the nice waitress for her really quick service despite the full restaurant.

Sind wegen der umfangreichen Karte hier gelandet Ambiente interessant, Bedienung freundlich. Das Essen war leider sehr mittelmäßig. Portionen gut, aber vom Geschmack wirklich nichts besonderes. Von siebenerlei Fleisch auf dem Grillteller stach leider kein einziges positiv hervor. Einiges wirkte eher gedünstet als gegrillt . Was die Erbsenbeilage angeht muss ich mich anderen anschließen, diese kamen wohl aus der Dose. Fazit: wer satt werden möchte ohne das besondere zu suchen ist hier richtig, auch wenn es auf privaten Grillparties vermutlich das bessere Fleisch gibt. Ach ja, die Altbierbowle war leider warm und gut zwei Zentimeter unter dem Eichstrich eingeschenkt, aber ich diskutiere nicht im Restaurant. Zu guter Letzt sollten dringend die Preise auf der Internetseite ausgetauscht werden, diese haben sich bei unseren Speisen um bis zu 30% erhöht. Aber dieser Fehler besteht bei vielen Internetauftritten.

Everything is dusty and the chairs are dirty. Last but not least, the toilets are the biggest hit. I've rarely seen anything so run down. I don't have the feel-good factor.

It was my first time here. I'm totally thrilled. The food - a very large selection. Super tasty and portions that you can manage. A big compliment to the chef. He seems to cook with a lot of heart.
