Altstadt Restaurant in Düsseldorf

After more than 15 minutes waiting to be served, we left the restaurant. The waiter, quite unfriendly, didn't care about losing customers (we weren't the only ones to get up and leave) And the restaurant was empty... We have not been able to try the food or drink, but we have seen a napkin tucked into the salad plate to be able to absorb all the extra sauce that was on it.

Dined there at the end of March on the "old town trip", everything was great. Nice and friendly service. Delicious salad and fine medallions. Gladly again.

Old and tired restaurant and the food is likewise. Don’t even think about going.

Outside the restaurant was a chalkboard with a special price for the Wiener schnitzel. When it was time to pay we had to pay the full price because they gave us a salad and on the chalkboard was without salad… The salad was horrible it was soaked in mayonnaise…. My schnitzel was the halve of the schnitzels of my friends.

The salad was floating in the cocktail sauce, the price was to much for the food, not going back here

Beautifully rustic on the inside ala cellar vaults but could be expanded. Room temperature currently too low. Waiter funny Recommended more often

Redelijk eten, maar als bij ren van ons waren de aardappeltjes koud, er werd gezegd dat er nieuwe gebracht werd, helaas is dat niet gebeurd Er werd wel wat geld van de rekening gehaald, maar dat is dan toch net niet hetgene je verwacht in een restaurant. De kelner die de bestelling opnam is erg vriendelijk, de rest is niet erg gastvrij! Jammer, ik zou het niet aanraden Alcoholvrije rader besteld, waren met alcohol Ik zou er niet nogmaals gaan eten

Food was good, service mediocre. Ordered food and drinks, wrong drinks were brought, something said, but still put on the table, no salad with the dish, no sauce with the fries. Management is really bad. Better find another restaurant.

I thought this restaurant looked a bit tired and the seats were not too comfortable. Did have an old German pub vibe. Service was swift and efficient. The food itself was ok I thought that the schweinehaxe was a bit dry and not the best that I had. The sauerkraut was also ok but also nothing special. Overall ok nothing bad to complaints however nothing great. Beer selection was also limited. There was a party of 5 guests and the general consensus was the same

Wij lunchte in dit restaurant tijdens een bezoek aan de kerstmarkt. De chanpignonschnitzel met friet smaakte prima. Friet was vrij zout maar daar hou ik wel van. Personeel deed erg hun best om in de drukke zaak iedereen te bedienen en deed dit met vriendelijkheid. De eerdere recenties die ik lees verbazen me obv onze ervaring die goed was. Het eten was geen culinair hoogstandje maar smaakte prima.

Pleasant atmosphere, excellent food, fast service, the owners work and approach so that the guest feels at home. All praise, my recommendation.

Food was delicious. Unfortunately, some pieces of meat were dry (grilled plates) and two Cevapici were not completely cooked through. The waitress' reaction was just, "I'm sorry." Not more. Too bad. But otherwise we liked it there.

Had dinner on Saturday around 5pm. Very busy, but delicious food. Service was attentive. When we walked out, people were waiting outside, luckily we were on time.

Good food in a nice atmosphere with the best service, so basically 15 stars, what more could you want?

It took a long time for the waitress to take out order and then we waited for 45 minutes and didn’t received our drinks. We then decided to leave the place telling it to them and they almost didn’t apologise. It felt like it was normal to them. The table next to us did it as well right before us.

Tuvimos una comida fabulosa esta noche, el personal tan amable, vino muy agradable también. Ambos comimos schnitzel con salsa de hongos, gran porción, papas fritas perfectamente cocidas. Sin duda recomiendo

Very tasty food for a good price

The six of us ordered six sets I really recommend it if you don’t have a big appetite. You can share a meal with two people, plus order a salad, and a friend ordered a Coke. The waiter said very humorously that you need to drink beer when you come here😆

Este es mi lugar favorito en Dusseldorf! No puedes conseguir un schnitzel en los Estados Unidos como en Alemania, ¡y este lugar lo hace bien! Lo primero que hago cada vez que voy a Alemania es tomar un schnitzel, y voy aquí cuando estoy en Dusseldorf. Me encanta su schnitzel, y tiene un precio bastante razonable. Siempre como fuera, una necesidad para cenar en el casco antiguo. Bastante buena cebolla francesa también, le recomiendo encarecidamente que se detenga cuando visite Dusseldorf.

Wrong sauce was served on schnitzel, sauce was scraped off after complaint, schnitzel was turned over and new sauce was put on it. The taste was a disaster, both sauces were ready and unseasoned, and on top of that there was unfriendly service…

I've been here several times and it's always been delicious, the waiters are very attentive and the atmosphere is really quaint. Thanks, I'll come back soon.

Went there for the first time yesterday with a friend. Really nicely done inside. Friendly and relaxed staff. We both had the grill plate. Very tasty 🤤

I give 5 stars 🌟 because me and my colleagues were very satisfied. I ate the medallions with pepper sauce. Meat was very soft and the sauce was very tasty. Come back next year. 👍👍👍

Altstadt tenía buena comida tradicional alemana y cerveza con un amable camarero. El camarero era fluido en inglés, lo que nos ayudó a entender la cocina. Nos gustó tanto que fuimos dos veces durante nuestro viaje!

Just. Good. Food. Almost impossible not to come away feeling satiated and happy.

Avoid – we were recommended this restaurant when checking in but wish we hadn’t bothered. Service is friendly but with only 2 waiters for the whole restaurant and terrace, it was understaffed, as was the kitchen as food took 30 mins to come out. The food was underwhelming - a rosti was in fact frozen hash browns that you can buy from a local supermarket, peppercorn sauce was clearly some orange stuff out of a jar sprinkled with raw peppercorns, and carrots in the vegetable side dish still raw. With so many options in the city, do yourself a favour and avoid eating here.

Order the Dusseldorf meat and honestly was one of the best meats I have ever tasted.

I rather liked the interior, and the seating as well. The service was friendly, good, and fast, and the food that I ordered was really nice.

Nice location in the old town. Unfortunately the food was subpar. Wiener schnitzel from the deep fryer and fried potatoes were soggy. Unfortunately, the Vienna-style turkey schnitzel was laced with tendons.

The meat was very tasty (schnitzel and roast beef), fried potatoes were good average, unfortunately there was no small salad or vegetables. Not a dish for vegetarians either, a shame. Prices are completely okay for the location. 1a the service, with the throughput starting from guests on Saturday evening, friendly and courteous.

Four of us ordered salads. 45 minutes had passed until the salads were ready... Others ordered, ate and paid in that time... The salads were very bland, better packaged at Lidl. Unfortunately, dividing the bill by two was quite difficult... The schnitzels at the neighboring table actually looked good...

Had dinner there with my wife. We came in there, none of the waiters greeted us or said where we could sit, they just walked past us several times. Then we chose a table ourselves, sat down and sat there for 5 minutes as if we were invisible, even though I drew attention to us several times. I-when did the menu come. Food was served relatively quickly (10 minutes), cutlery was also forgotten. Unfortunately the food was NOT edible at all, schnitzel, well, fries were still partly raw. Grilled chicken was ok, potato rosti only tasted like fat. Mushroom sauce inedible! The meal was worth a maximum of €10 with water and beer and not €41! Sorry, but I've never experienced something like that in a restaurant, especially in the old town of Düsseldorf.

Came here to have a beer. Very good, good service. When it's time to pay, we go inside and another waitress makes us pay. 8 euros while the beers were 3 euros each. In German (which we speak a little) we point out to him that we only had 2 beers and therefore that it must be 6 euros. She doesn't even let us finish our sentence, tells us that yes it's 2 beers. We pay thinking that perhaps we had read the menu wrong. Later looking at the receipt we were charged for the wrong beers. Bad experience for us, too bad the place seemed nice.

Very beautiful restaurant in the city centre of Dusseldorf. We ordered mixed grilled meat plate for two person. Everything, especially steak was very delicious.

Ordered salad with salmon. I couldn't eat the salmon. Was in the frying pan or under the heat lamp for far too long. Too bad for the place. Service was 1a

We were there 4 people 2 days ago The service was very friendly and the food came relatively quickly but.....the food didn't taste good at all, the fish plate cost around €27, the fish wasn't fresh and the fried potatoes were actually fried potatoes, no onions, no bacon, no spices. The Düsseldorf Steik had cartilage. Schnitzel sauce not fresh but from a package. Atlstadt's plate wasn't any better either, no taste, no spices, like cooked meat We complained. It would have tasted better at home, even though we aren't chefs. It's a shame because it's a cozy restaurant.

The food here is fresh and delicious, service is quick and the staff is very friendly. A diverse menu offers something for every taste, plus there are various dishes on the table. We'd love to come back!

Wir waren vor 2 Tag dort 4 Personen Bedienung war sehr freundlich und das essen kommt relativ schnell aber .....essen hat überhaupt nicht geschmeckt, Fischteller hat um 27€ gekostet, Fisch war nicht frisch und Bratkartoffeln war in Wirklichkeit frittiert Kartoffeln, keine Zwiebeln, kein Speck, keine Gewürze. Das Düsseldorfer Steik hatte Knorpel. Bei Atlstadt Teller war auch nicht besser, keine Geschmack, Wir haben uns beschwert. Zuhause hätte es besser geschmeckt.Obwohl wir keine Köche sind. Schade weil ist eine gemütliche Restaurant .

Das Essen war okay, aber es ist nichts Besonderes ...eben nichts, was man unbedingt nochmal essen will. Die Bedienung war freundlich. Die Ausstattung ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen.Die Preise sind für Düsseldorf okay. Wir würden uns beim nächsten Mal ein anderes Restaurant suchen.

LET OP!! Ten eerste had de ober een bepaalde arrogantie. Nam mij in de maling waar andere mensen bijzaten om mijn Duits. Zo kreeg hij lachers op zijn hand. Mijn gezin zat inmiddels al aan tafel dus ik dacht laat maar. Vervolgens kregen we een salade met flink wat zand er in. Tandenknarsen dus…. Bij afrekenen betaalden we 24,50 voor een matige wienerschnitzel met friet. Er stond duidelijk op een bord 19,50 maar wij mochten 24,50 afrekenen. Vervolgens nog 24 euro voor 2 frisdrank en 1 fles plat water. Was een foutje ….ze hadden een fles water voor 8 euro teveel berekend. Gewoon pure toeristenoplichters! Wij gaan hier nooit meer heen!!!!!!

Sand in (all 4) salads. Furthermore, the bill was incorrect (“accidentally” charged for an additional bottle of water for €7.50). Really nothing special.

Cozy, tasty and centrally located

The aparagus and potatoes tasted exactly the same. And it was very salty.

As someone who is allergic to dairy, I could not find suitable options and hence, after being seated and scanning through the menu, decided to leave. The ambience was quite dark and dimly lit too which is not my preference. Therefore, since I did not eat here, I cannot really comment on the quality of the food but only that there are almost no nice vegan options.

Cosy, old German restaurant. Nice atmosphere and friendly, pleasant service with whom we had a chat and joked a bit. The schnitzels, gulash soup, mushrooms and fish were very tasty. Price-quality ratio in order! Highly recommended.

The dishes were succulent (especially the meats!) and the service efficient. The toilets are clean. The terrace is nice.😎

Good beer choice, delicious on tap. Location is beautiful, right in the center. No parking options in the vicinity.

Very nice and quiet restaurant. They treated us very well and helped us with the dishes to choose. They have a menu in English. Spectacular meat. And the apple dessert....homemade and delicious 😋

Great food, but service could have been a little friendlier.

The food was ok. Convenience food. For 16.50 (schnitzel with mushroom sauce) it was okay but not outstanding. The waiter was quick and friendly. The staff constantly speaks in Russian? You never really know who or what it's about...

Was very comfortable. I liked it. My friend was disappointed because her pork tenderloin was completely dry. I said it three times, but there was no response. It would be better if the staff would say something about it. Compensation would have been absolutely necessary.

They have a wide choice of food on the menu here. For me is the schnitzel are really the highlight here and also because it can be ordered with different options. This restaurant is highly recommended!

Es gab eine wirkliche Mini-Portion (Zanderfilet) lieblos angerichtet, sehr salzig; Weinschorle war eher Wasser mit nem Schuss Wein. (Ging zwar aufs Haus, daher will ich mal nicht so sein ...) Auf Reklamation wurde nicht wirklich eingegangen. Ich fühlte mich ein bisschen "abgefertigt".
