The brewery is officially open until midnight on Thursday. We arrived around 10 p.m. and were only allowed to order a final drink... There wasn't even a pretzel... The service and friendliness?

Great value beer, amazing atmosphere. Great for large groups. Service was lovely. Food is mostly non vegetarian or vegan and a bit pricey. Would definitely recommend!

Cool location, nice service but the selection of dishes is very limited. In my opinion, the buffet food was kept warm for a long time and the food was said to be homemade, “Never.”

My first and last time there. I order Juice, the waiter joked that it was a drink for children. A bit a bad joke, because I had alcoholic problem… Toilet inside need to be paid for, service often ignored us, because we were talking in English language, for German customers they cared a lot. I don’t recommend. I think it is better go to another place pay a bit more, and have respectful service and toilet for free…

Very quaint restaurant with a great ambience. The menu is simple, but there is something for every taste. The only criticism is perhaps that a few more vegetarian options would be great. But you could also argue that there are better places to go for vegetarian options. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. You just immediately felt comfortable.

We really liked the food (hock, roast sausages with cabbage, burger) and ambience. The service was fine due to the rush hour. With a lot of goodwill, this fact is worth 3 stars to me. Why? Now that the location is a brewery, I expect a lively brewery culture in all aspects. In my opinion, this requirement was unfortunately not the case for the core competency – beer. We tried the in-house Pils, which was brewed based on the beer style in question. In any case, this beer was not lean, fresh and appropriately hopped. Also cloudy-copper colored and with a roasted malt note that is not typical of the style. Independence or not, we were more than happy that we didn't order a 10 liter barrel of it. However, a look at the menu, which was quite poorly presented, made my beer drinker's heart beat faster. Namely because there was a Helles on the menu. This was ordered straight away and the next disappointment followed in the form of bottled beer. As already mentioned, we are in a brewery. Is it asking too much to offer 3-4 beers on tap under these circumstances? Precisely because the light beer from the bottle tasted pretty average and the cask factor would definitely have enhanced this product. How can I let a beer style, which has been gaining more and more market share in Germany in recent years, disappear from my menu and maintain it so inappropriately? So I'm not surprised that no other guest had a light beer on the table. But maybe that's just irrelevant to the average beer-is-beer drinker. The Gröninger couldn't meet my expectations of a brewery with its beer portfolio.

Beer is excellent. Having tried it we made a point of returning, as my husband said it "went down easily"! Someone said lack of choice, well when you have beer as good as this and you brew it why sell anything else? Best beer we found in Hamburg and Berlin, only wished they sold it at home! Food good too and great atmosphere. Perfect! Food looks excellent, I was just sad we weren't in a group and couldn't have the 10L of beer served in a keg at the table and the special platter they offer for four. It's huge and has a fabulous atmosphere, the staff were attentive and friendly without being pushy.

Fried potatoes are only available from the kitchen, even though it's listed under "buffet" on the menu. So you go back to the table with the food from the buffet to order fried potatoes separately. These came 15 minutes later, basically for dessert. This is poorly organized for such a large store. Toilets apparently clean, but it smelled in there the whole evening! At least the beer there is delicious, but that's about it. Maybe nice for tourists, but there are much better shops in Hamburg

quite a deception this restaurant. Went there last night. It is located in the cellar with is quite unique. But the place is extremely noisy, difficult to have conversations in there. The menu offers typical german meat based meals . There the confusion starts. You have a part of it that is by the Kg other for the entire table. I had to go at the bar to order and get the meat (leberkäse) than order fried potatoes (Bratkartoffeln) at the waiter at my table. So i had just my pice of meat without sides .. than later the fried potatoes came when the meat were already kind of cold. The meat is of good quality but with little taste, the potatoes, baked with bacon also were missing salt… Only thing that was great was the waiter and the bier.. than for the quality of food the price was quite high

I want to go back. A place where you can drink real beer. It's very sad that all the beers in the world are factory beers after drinking beer here.

We had a nice experience there. The food was good, the pork knuckle was not dry, and even though our German is poor, all of them communicated with us in English with no problem. Staff very nice towards us, even if the house was very full. Please do reserve a seat. This place is highly recommended!

Quite a good pub, a large amount of available beer, various snacks, a unique atmosphere with halls in which there are barrels for distilling beer, a cabinet in the form of beer barrels, super atmospheric. The interior is quite spacious, with an underground cave-like atmosphere. The beer was delicious, but the food was very salty and greasy, so it wasn't easy to eat. The staff is not friendly. I think you can visit just to have a light beer.

As non-German speakers we struggled. Eventually found an English menu. Wasn’t entirely clear how the buffet worked. Staff not particularly forthcoming in telling us how to order. Ended up with two massive slabs of meatloaf (German meatloaf is different from what I’m used to) and little room for anything else on the plates. The guy carving the meatloaf was not the friendliest of souls as I bumbled through trying to order. So - a lot to do with us not speaking German. Next time I’d order a burger. Disappointing, but definitely an experience!

Went here after a Google search for microbreweries in Hamburg. They had two beers on tap which were both great and they had excellent food. They are focused on meat based dishes but they had excellent offerings for plant based eaters as well. The service was excellent and I would definitely come back.

It looks nice but beware the schedule, contrarily to what they write they don’t open until midnight in summer.

Rustic cellar restaurant with hearty food. All very tasty. Half a knuckle is highly recommended as it is huge and fried super crispy. Hamburger is also really good.

The Gröninger Braukeller has a rustic atmosphere, the food was very good and tasty, the beer was excellent and the prices are completely okay. The service was friendly and very quick.

After three unsuccessful years, you can finally reserve a table in 2024. Really quaint, you have to see it.

A typical beer hall with large vats full of this golden drink. The relaxed atmosphere favors social gatherings in larger groups. An interesting fact is that you can order a private barrel of beer, which is placed at the table and you can fill the mugs yourself - since the barrel is 10 liters, this entertainment is rather aimed at larger groups.

Quite an average experience, would definitely stay away from the pork knuckle as it was very dry. The burger and bratwurst were good however. It took very long to get our first drink. The beer was good and the atmosphere was nice. We were also slightly confused about how the buffet worked.

Gröninger was one of my most favourite places in Hamburg. Even my first time in Germany in 2011 I went here. But after my recent visit today I will remove this place from my list. They served bottled beer and not even mentioning it on the menu, moreover smth happened with atmosphere and stuff which is not pleasant and even rude. Very sad and disappointed about what has happened with Gröninger

It is particularly suitable for international visitors to learn about German cuisine, which is unfortunately somewhat neglected in Hamburg.

Despite running around like crazy (it was pretty full) girl serving the table was very polite and friendly. But didn’t understand why 1 l from tap is more expensive than the bottle.

This place might Look tiny, but its huge. You can enter from two Sides, and its quite a Walk from one entrance too the second. The Beer was good and the ambience very nice (you can also sit in Barrels). I recommend going Here (food also looked good).

Rustic vaulted inn. Eat well and you'll be full. The beer is very tasty. Why only 4 stars? The acoustics are so bad that conversation is almost impossible.

Nice interior but sub standard beer

Great location, the beer is delicious. Clean. Only the service wasn't what I imagined. The service staff preferred to talk to each other instead of serving the guests...I had to make myself known several times to place another order. And there were hardly any guests there (4:30 p.m.)...a shame actually.

Super nice place, with what we think is real German food. Down in a basement. Slightly high noise level. Definitely worth a visit.

Per: Service (also got a five euro tip) Beer (Alsterwasser orange and the draft beer both very good) The atmosphere is very good, including the cellar furnishings. You can buy a ten liter barrel that sits on a stool at the table. Cons: Prices from 1/2024. Sorry, you're pricing yourself out of the market. 10 euros for 200 grams of Leberkäse. 22 euros for a burger with eight potato wedges - hunger is inevitable. 0.4 liters of beer at 5.60 euros. Not everyone in Hamburg earns 60,000 euros gross per year. Also offers something for the small budget. No cell phone reception, no WiFi, no power plugs to charge cell phones. Hands are held out again when using the toilet (even for paying guests).

Been back here for ages, we went to Gröninger for dinner and drinks with several people. The beer from the 10l barrel was delicious and for dinner we had pork knuckle and currywurst. Both were more than good portions and they were definitely tasty. The service was also great. Everything happened very quickly. Unfortunately it's always a bit loud but there's nothing you can do about it. We will be back definitely

We had the Gröninger Bräuschmaus plate for two people. The food was ok, but for the price it wasn't worth it. I fry it just as well at home. The Kassler was quite dry. The rest was ok. The fried potatoes were an absolute disgrace. These were soggy and lukewarm. They were definitely not freshly prepared, but were probably picked up from the half-warm buffet. They tasted like they had been there for a long time. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff is friendly. The beer was ok, but a small selection for a brewery. We won't be coming back.

There's nothing wrong with the service or the drinks. The knuckle, on the other hand, was miserable. Probably from the day before or in the oven completely too long. Since we ordered when the restaurant opened, I assume it was a knuckle from the day before. Approximately 1cm thick layer of dried meat. Neither the knife nor the teeth can get through. Beef jerky is juicier. Despite complaining to the waiter, the only response was "I forwarded it to the kitchen"... Overall conclusion... More quantity than quality.

By a lucky coincidence we found the private brewery. The food is very good and plentiful. The beer is tasty. The best thing was the staff. They were in a very good mood and had lots of fun. Absolutely recommended for a group of men.

A culinary filling for my bourgeois delicatessen vault, a golden dream for my taste buds.

How unfortunate and pathetic. I was hoping for a great, authentic experience. I actually wanted to get a beer and, to bridge the waiting time for my train, order a few drinks to take away. I sat down and no one came for five minutes. The waitress seemed friendly as she was helping a couple pack up leftover food. I asked if I could order a beer and was told to sit down. I would be served at the table. Another ten minutes passed. Nothing. The manager stood there and watched what was happening, but it didn't occur to him to serve me. I packed my things and left. For me this is a 1/100 experience that makes me never want to come here again. The staff seemed friendly to guests who were eating, but everyone else was simply ignored. I think it might be more of a tourist trap than an authentic eatery.

Very cozy brewery. The service team is very friendly and helpful. The beer tastes very good and if you want you can take a few bottles home. Unfortunately, the buffet is not entirely recommended as the food loses a lot of moisture when kept warm. But if you order something from the menu, it looks completely different. The food from the kitchen is great. It's worth planning a visit to the brewery when you're in Hamburg.

Knuckle for 28 EUR… I haven't had such a bad meal in a long time. Grilled because of it! Boiled and then fried. Hard burnt on the outside and greasy pulp on the inside. Supplement missing. Surroundings so loud that you can hear your own words... a classic tourist number.

Great atmosphere in the restaurant. A small, barely noticeable door and a huge medieval-style restaurant behind it. The restaurant and brewery is completely underground and gives every event that is celebrated here a special atmosphere. The food is super delicious. Only hearty German cuisine. Pricing is reasonable, they have their own brewery and taste incredible! It's a place that you can sit down and enjoy without being too busy. You can grab a pint with your mate and enjoy the environment. Service is fast and friendly, they even accept card!

Echtes deutsche Restaurant mit eigenem Bier. Extrem leckeres Bier! Das Essen hat hohe Qualität und es ist nicht echt teuer. Deko und Lokation sind perfekt.

I know it's probably a bit tacky to eat at this sort of establishment. The locals I went with were trying to give me an 'authentic German experience' by eating here, even though they suggested it was more a tourist trap, but it was absolutely enjoyable. It's the sort of environment where having a great dinner spread with a big group of people makes it all the more fun. The food quality was excellent, and we all had a great time.

Sehr gute Küche - handfeste Mahlzeiten - lecker (!) und eine gute Grundlage, für das auch leckere und leichte - frisch gezapfte Blonde - direkt vom Faß - am Tisch. Wenn es voll ist, macht es Sinn - mit der Bedienung frühzeitig und zugewandt - im Dialog zu bleiben - damit der Aufenthalt für die Gruppe ein vollständiger Genuss wird.

Sehr schön dort. Haben dort unsere Weihnachtsfeier gemacht. Super Personal und mega Essen. Diese Platte für 4 Personen fand ich bissl wenig, für 3 wäre das besser . Sonst echt lecker.

Nice Bavarian location with nice food and good beer

Sehr freundliches Personal, das Essen durchschnittlich für ordentliche Preise. In größer Runde für ein gemütliches Beisammensein auf jeden Fall gut. Das Essen ist aber nicht mein persönlicher Favorit, vegetarische oder vegane Gerichte gibt es kaum.

Moin Folks, ja Hamburg ist immer in Action, die Stadt lebt und das zu jeder Jahreszeit und es gibt mehr als genug bei Winter und Wetter sich auszutoben. Hier die Trompetengalaktische Fischauktionshalle, hier tobt das Leben, wie zum Oktoberfest u.a., nun auch andere tolle Veranstaltungen finden hier statt. Der frühe Vogel fängt das Frühstück ein, immer wieder Fischmarkt am Sonntag, hier ist es einfach genial.

Lt. Bedienung sind die Burger seit gestern ausverkauft, aber ca. 15 Burger wurden danach an uns vorbei getragen (???)

Great atmosphere, really good food and beer, but pushy servers.

Zum Abschluss eines Firmenevents nahmen wir an vorab reservierten Tischen Platz. Diese Reservierung klappte hervorragend, nur war's das dann leider auch mit der 'Gastronomie zum Wohlfühlen'. Bis der erste Mitarbeiter nach unserem Durst fragte, verging gefühlt eine Ewigkeit. Das vorbestellte Essen kam lauwarm auf den Tisch und wie ein Kollege süffisant bemerkte, sei "...das wohl die Diät-Variante!" Vom Burger ist definitiv abzuraten, das Patty ist ein komprimierter, geschmacklicher Witz und 8 abgezählten Kartoffelspalten sind eher eine "...labbrige Provokation...". Die "Knusprige Gröninger Schweinshaxe E,G,I,L mit frischem Gröninger Bierbrot, Krautsalat und Senf" kam ohne Brot, dafür aber mit gewöhnlicher, dafür spärlicher Bratensauce aus der Tube. Leider scheiterte auch der vegan/vegetarisch (sic!) Versuche kläglich. Das "Erdnußcurry mit Honig-Blüten-Basmatireis H,E,F,G,M Erdnußsauce mit Gemüsestreifen, Sojasauce, Kokosmilch und Chili" darf sich leider ebenfalls auf den hintersten Plätzen einreihen: die Basis des vermeintlichen Currys war eine flüssige Erdnusssauce, die alles andere brutal überlagerte, und besagte Gemüsestreifen waren auf wenige Zucchini- und Möhrenstreifchen reduziert. Somit konnte keiner am Tisch mit seinem Gericht zufrieden sein, die intern vergebene Höchstpunktzahl der Kollegen lag bei 5 von 10 möglichen. Hätten wir für diesen Graus aber die eigenen Taschen aufmachen müssen, die Bewertung wäre schlechter ausgefallen, meinte einer von ihnen! Bedauerlicherweise war der Service an unserem Tisch kaum präsent. Knapp 120 Minuten hielt ich mich an meinem Getränk fest, ein Nachordern war nicht möglich, oder interessierte den potentiellen Adressaten nicht. Die leeren und schmutzigen Teller samt benutzten Bestecken blieben auf den Tischen stehen und standen dort auch noch, als ich das Lokal bereits verliess. Vielleicht ist es ein Fehler, in Hamburg Schweinshaxe zu ordern. Möglicherweise ist es ebenso ein Fehler, in einem Brauhaus ein vegan/vegetarisches Curry zu essen. Definitv ist es aber ein Fehler des Gastronoms, die genannten Gerichte schlecht zubereitet und hoch bepreist zu servieren, als ob ein hoher Preise die Geschmacksenttäuschung der Gäste lindern würde!

Wir waren mit einer sehr großen Gesellschaft Essen und Trinken. Vorab wurde uns mitgeteilt, wir müssen selbst kassieren und es gäbe nur eine Rechnung. Sowas kenne ich nicht. Ganz abgesehen davon, Trinkgeld gibt es dann nicht wirklich. Nötig war es auch nicht, die fünf Kellner in unserer Ecke standen sich regelmäßig die Beine in den Bauch. Das Essen war okay. Der Service war sonst gut.

Urige Kneipe super Bedienung und lecker Essen

Also urig ist das Ambiente unbestritten und allemal einen Besuch wert. In dem uralten Kellergewölbe mitten in der Hamburger Innenstadt kann man die Brauereifässer bestaunen und das leckere Bier trinken. Wirklich ausgezeichnet und nicht überteuert. Leider gab es an dem Samstag um 20 Uhr schon keine Haxe mehr auf die ich mich gefreut hatte und der Ersatz hat mir nicht gefallen. Habe wohl etwas Pech gehabt.

Ziemlich laut. Currywurst ist dort leider keine Currywurst.
