Altes Reusenhus in Waren (Müritz)

On our little birthday trip to Waren and the surrounding area, a frosty stroll through the town eventually led us to the Alte Reusenhus – and looking back, it was exactly the right decision. The moment we stepped inside, we felt the cozy atmosphere, perfect for a cold winter's day. After a quick chat with the exceptionally friendly waitress, we were even allowed to bring our dog, who received just as warm a welcome as we did. This uncomplicated hospitality immediately put us at ease. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and lovingly designed – a place where you instantly feel at home. The service was attentive, friendly, and pleasantly unobtrusive. The Reusenhus also impressed us with its culinary offerings: - The fish soup was aromatic, hearty, and just what we needed to warm up after the cold. - The beetroot and ginger soup arrived piping hot and was a true flavor highlight – earthy, fresh, and with a subtle ginger spice. ... Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit that perfectly complemented our birthday trip. A restaurant in Waren that we can wholeheartedly recommend – especially on cold days when you're looking for a warm smile, good food, and a cozy spot.

Altes Reusenhus – Waren (Müritz) We visited the Altes Reusenhus restaurant on New Year's Eve and again on January 1st, 2026 – and for good reason. Even on our first visit, we were impressed by the wonderful atmosphere and the very friendly welcome. Then we discovered the menu: very interesting options, generous portions, and more than fair prices. Simply superb! Because we were so delighted, we went back the very next day. In conversation with the waitress, we learned that all the chefs work on-site and that the dishes are their own creations. The menu changes seasonally, which we found particularly appealing. The selection is excellent and of high quality. A small suggestion for improvement: The white wine offered wasn't dry enough for our taste (too sweet) and therefore didn't pair well with the very good dishes. As a possible alternative, we could suggest... For example, we can easily imagine the Göhring Cuvée Rosé dry 2023 pairing very well – it would go perfectly with both fish dishes and pork schnitzel. On our second visit, we therefore ordered beer – which was also very good. Nevertheless: A fantastic restaurant with a lot of heart and skill. We'll gladly come back!

We had a delicious dinner there on Christmas Day. The restaurant is cozy, and the murals, complete with real props like little nets, are a fun touch. There's also a courtyard for when it's warmer. And even a year later, the restaurant is still great! 👍🏻

From the outside, it might seem a bit unassuming, but inside it's a gem. The atmosphere and the historic architecture are a treasure no one should miss. On top of that, the food is excellent. What's listed simply as herb schnitzel or plaice fillet on the menu becomes a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Okay, it's not cheap. But the whole experience is worth it. So, if you want to treat yourself, this is the place to do it. Definitely make a reservation upstairs! 😉

Yesterday, a group of six of us ate here, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. It was a wonderful evening with excellent service. We highly recommend it.

We've been to the old Reusenhaus several times before, but this time we were disappointed. The restaurant was cold, we waited 45 minutes for our food, and the venison goulash had no sauce, just the base of the pan. The meat was also tough in places due to the tendons. Unfortunately, not good.

The restaurant is very rustic overall; we sat in the "new" room (since 2019) – which is somewhat uncomfortable and noisy. The service was attentive but not always fully attentive, for example, with drinks. The table was nicely set for the birthday celebration we had announced. Our table was reserved for 1.5 hours, and we were asked if that was sufficient when we made the reservation. Unfortunately, the kitchen took over 1.25 hours to prepare the food – luckily, we were able to stay seated. For a rustic yet select menu, this wait was too long for us. There are four meat dishes and four to five fish dishes to choose from. The dishes are nicely presented and taste okay. The duck leg was unfortunately rather tough, almost chewy. Furthermore, the red cabbage was lukewarm when the food arrived from the kitchen. With the steak, we weren't asked how we wanted it cooked (well done, medium, rare) – it arrived very crispy and tending towards well done. The side salads looked industrially produced. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio doesn't match up for us. In summary: we've known this restaurant for a long time and usually enjoy going there, partly because of its charming atmosphere. This time, however, we were disappointed.

It would be a dream come true if we were to return to Waren. A must-see. 🥰

We waited an hour for our food, and it was simply forgotten. The server didn't even ask about it. To top it off, we were subjected to mind-numbing German pop music the entire time. A truly dreadful restaurant.

The atmosphere there is really lovely, quite rustic, especially on the upper floor. The food is freshly prepared and absolutely delicious, and the service is fantastic. We're increasingly bothered by the skyrocketing prices everywhere. A starter, salad, or dessert are simply no longer affordable. Especially not if you have your family with you. They shouldn't keep pushing the price spiral so far...

We got a table for two on the first evening of our short break in Waren without a reservation. The food was exceptionally delicious, with refined details. I don't know how many stars to deduct. It was so delicious. Eight of us spontaneously showed up at 12 o'clock. We managed to get a table in the courtyard. That alone was a highlight. It's hard to believe it from the outside, and the menu doesn't reflect how truly good the food is. All the extras were no problem. So, nothing but praise. Thank you so much. The service staff are very attentive and polite, and you feel truly at home. The food was fantastic; I had "Petri Heil" (good fishing) and was extremely satisfied. Anyone looking for good food in Waren won't be disappointed. I've rarely eaten so well. The food was outstanding, the dips world-class. The restaurant itself is worth a look. There's something new to discover everywhere. We will definitely go there again and are happy to make the 1.5-hour drive.

We were in the courtyard and were very satisfied. Great food, friendly service, and a lovely ambiance. Since the courtyard is relatively narrow, smokers are a bit of a problem. Perhaps the owner should enforce a smoking ban in the courtyard. Unfortunately, you can't count on smokers being understanding.

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The menu offers a wide selection. The dishes are freshly prepared and taste delicious. I had the Captain's Feast, which was simply stunning. I couldn't stop eating. Very, very delicious.

A huge compliment to the kitchen and service – we haven't eaten this well in a restaurant in a long time. We had plaice, zander, and catfish – all cooked to perfection, and even the side dishes were amazing. We were here for the first time in 2010, and the quality has been maintained over the years. We ordered two fish dishes. One was excellent all around. The fish in the second was also good, but some of the gnocchi were still raw, and the ratatouille wasn't that good. Nevertheless, I would recommend the restaurant.

When we visited the restaurant yesterday early evening, we were greeted very warmly by a gentleman. After we chose a table, Lara arrived. A friendly, open, and witty young woman who anticipated our every need. After the recommendation of the Andalö Lemon Spritz, the evening began to become perfect. The main course didn't take long to arrive and was fantastically presented and incredibly delicious. The fish had a wonderful tan, was slightly crispy, and was very well seasoned. My husband is a trained chef himself and was very pleased. All in all, a very, very good restaurant with wonderfully friendly people. We wish you continued success and a wonderful summer. M+M

We, a couple, arrived without a reservation. When we were told it was full, we were offered a seat by the entrance door, more like a bar than a table. We gratefully accepted, and what followed resembled a comedy show. The guests who arrived after us without a reservation were randomly either sent home or moved to a higher floor, where there were suddenly more seats available. We felt a bit like we were being made fun of, as we "only" got the table by the entrance door (where it kept getting cold), even though there were seats available. I also felt sorry for those who didn't get a table, because it didn't make sense why one person got a table and another didn't. Mind you, no one had a reservation. There's not much to complain about when it comes to the food, just minor things that could have been quickly fixed. The staff, apart from this odd assignment, were also very friendly.

We went there for the first time on vacation. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food deserves an A+ rating. We immediately reserved another table. Highly recommended!

My wife and I visited the restaurant once. And we won't be returning again. Why? The food was okay, but it wouldn't have encouraged us to return. My "plaice fillets" were each the size of a beer mat, and of the side dishes, the gnocchi were the best. My wife had the perch in batter, which was rather lukewarm. And her salad looked like it came from a bag. That would also explain why the arugula was "yellow." In any case, halfway through, there were more than 10 leaves that could have been sorted out. When the waitress first asked if everything was okay (about 2 minutes after serving), we said "OK." After we were finished, she asked again. My wife then pointed out the lettuce and the yellow leaves. And that they probably wouldn't charge for it. And then came what you hear again and again in less-than-good restaurants: We should have said that right away; she would have asked. At most, an espresso on the house would have been possible. My wife declined. The waitress then asked the kitchen again, but that didn't change anything. We paid and also left a tip. As we were leaving, we regretted it. The waitress then clearly said to someone in the kitchen, "Those are the two smartasses." I recommend eating at the Etna around the corner. Or if you ever make it to the North Sea, the Goldener Anker in Tönning serves really good fish.

This is a lovely, rustic restaurant; the service was friendly and quick. The food, however, wasn't particularly impressive. The portions are modest for the price. The squid rings were like biscuits; you couldn't cut them with a knife. It was like a hard biscuit, in fact. Something salty somehow got into the panna cotta, some crumbs on top. It just didn't fit. We probably won't go there again. It's a shame, really. But if 3 out of 3 dishes aren't impressive 👎

We happened to stop there for dinner during a short vacation, and it was simply fantastic! The staff were consistently friendly and cheerful, and then the food...simply amazing! We had four different dishes: one meat, two fish, and one vegetarian. Each of us thought it was delicious. Beautifully presented and very creative. My personal recommendation: the side salads, also available individually as the "small meadow" salad...a mixture of fresh lettuce and a type of kimchi. It couldn't be better!

We visited you on June 23, 2025. Unfortunately, we didn't know that it was better to make a reservation if you wanted to be seated in the restaurant at 7:00 PM. However, we were immediately offered a seat on the outdoor patio. Since it was quite windy, they also asked if we wanted a blanket. The menu is concise and offers something for every taste. We opted for the schnitzel, which was served with lukewarm cucumber and potato salad. All we can say is, it was absolutely delicious. We'll definitely be back in 2026 :-)

Die schlechte Bewertung find ich eine Frechheit, bei unserem Besuch war das Restaurant ausgebucht, das man da nicht gleich in 5 Minuten mit Getränken bedient wird ist wohl klar. Frisch zubereitetes Essen wird auch nicht 10 Minuten später auf dem Tisch stehen. Die Servicekräfte hatten alle ein Lächeln im Gesicht und waren sehr freundlich, bekommt nicht jeder hin bei so vielen Gästen gleichzeitig. Wenn man im Urlaub ist wird man doch wohl auch etwas Zeit mitbringen und nicht unter Stress essen gehen. Wir waren begeistert. Es war richtig lecker! Ein ganz großes Dankeschön an die Küche und den Service, wir hatten einen schönen Abend.

Having dined at the "Alte Reusenhus" in Waren for the first time, the reporter can say it was perfect. The table reservation, made personally on site the day before, was already a testament to customer-oriented professionalism. On the day of dinner, drinks were chosen during the day in the beer garden in the sweltering temperatures, which were well-tempered and enhanced the anticipation of the evening. That evening, the reporter chose the perch fillet in beer batter with potato and garlic dip. His companion opted for the herring with fried potatoes. The dishes were visually very well presented and tasted 100% convincing. The service staff do an impeccable job, even when the restaurant is at full capacity, and treat guests as equals. Attentive in all matters, guests are still valued here. A positive aspect is that every employee serves every table and that everyone works hand in hand. Thanks to the kitchen crew, who provided a taste experience, and thanks to all the other employees who do their job to perfection and made our stay at the "Alte Reusenhus" a truly memorable experience. Our next stay in Waren will be back at the "Alte Reusenhus."

You just have to have the courage to open the somewhat inconspicuous entrance door. You're greeted by a fisherman's cottage restaurant atmosphere with its half-timbered ambiance. An old fish-fishing house, in fact. The heated and covered courtyard, with its witty murals and decorations, invites you to linger. The selection of regional dishes is simply perfect. The insider tip: the fish soup. It's no longer a secret. We're happy to recommend you and would love to come back.

Very coZy and wonderful place. I ordered a herring fish Which came with potatoes and bacon, this unfortunately wasn't mentioned in the menu, so we explained in English that we don't eat meat, the waitress quickly changed it to potatoes without bacon. Great service and really fresh and fingerlicious food! Also , very reasonable price.

der Aufenthalt in diesem Lokal war insgesamt mehr als enttäuschend, die Getränke wurden erst nach 15Minuten serviert, das Essen wurde aufgenommen, aber wir mussten dann immer noch 60Minuten warten, ein Gericht war lauwarm und die Bratkartoffeln waren „verkokelt“, somit ging es retour und wir hatten leider kein gemeinsames Essen, zu allem Überfluss wurde uns in der Endrechnung eine Flasche Wasser in Rechnung gestellt, die wir nicht bestellt hatten, dieses Loksl ist sicher nicht zu empfehlen, eine Panne kann passieren, aber nicht in diesem Gesamtpaket!
