Alte Tankstelle in Waren (Müritz)

After our visit to the Müritzeum, we stopped by the "Alte Tankstelle" restaurant and were thoroughly satisfied. The menu was varied, with many appealing dishes – from regional to contemporary – there was something for everyone. The quality of the food was very good; everything was freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The ambiance was cozy, and the service was friendly. We'd be happy to come back!

We spontaneously stopped by this restaurant for some delicious fish. And we were not disappointed. The service was very friendly, and the food arrived relatively quickly. I had plaice, which was incredibly tasty and crispy, and my partner had various fish fillets, which he also thoroughly enjoyed. The price/performance ratio is excellent. I would deduct one star because the kitchen staff walk through the dining room and then smoke in the entrance area, which doesn't make a good impression. Otherwise, I can easily recommend this restaurant.

We were recently in Waren and stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. It had a very nice atmosphere, and the food was extremely delicious and plentiful. Excellent value for money! 👍😊 The service staff and the kitchen staff were extremely friendly. A highlight for us was the white-crested cockatoo that visited our table on the first evening 😊 But it didn't bother us. When we're back in Waren, this will be the first reservation we'll make.

Had bad luck with the food, the turkey steak was hard and dry, the pasta was the same and when reheated it looked like it was fried.

We made a reservation and enjoyed a delicious rump steak. It was cooked to perfection, seared on the outside, and beautifully juicy on the inside. The service was very friendly. The ambiance is rustic.

During our daytime visit to Waren on July 6th, we stumbled upon the quaint restaurant "Alte Tankstelle" quite by chance due to a deteriorating weather and a quick review search. The restaurant was busy on a Sunday evening, and normally, it's impossible to get a seat without a reservation, but we were lucky in every way! The entire ambiance in the maritime-style restaurant, the extremely friendly and efficient service staff, the food and drinks on offer, and, to top it all off, the secret boss of the place, the live white cockatoo on its "throne" in the middle of the room, made us feel like we had truly struck lucky. In addition to two large Alster fish, we opted for the Sauerfleisch (sauerfleisch) with fried potatoes, remoulade, and a side salad – although the Sauerfleisch was more like brawn in consistency and appearance, but that didn't detract from the taste. I also ordered a rump steak with onion variations, herb butter, and stuffed potato dumplings. When my order arrived, I was overwhelmed by the size, preparation (medium rare), and quality. I estimated the steak to have had a raw weight of around 350-380g... and it hadn't lost much of that during the cooking process! The taste was a dream, but despite all my efforts and taking my time eating, I couldn't finish it. The guests at the next table, as well as the waiter, kept looking over at me as I labored over it with relish. I can't remember ever having eaten such a good steak (butter-tender) at such a reasonable price in recent years. Plus, the service, ambiance, and feel-good atmosphere were first-class. The only drawback is that the "Alte Tankstelle" is located in Waren and not up here on the Flensburg Fjord! Absolutely recommended!

A lovely restaurant with delicious food. The waitresses were very friendly, and the wait times were short. Reservations are recommended. What bothered us most was the table, which was right outside the entrance, where people were smoking heavily the whole time. The smoke wafted directly into the entire restaurant. Very unpleasant.

I highly recommend it, an unassuming restaurant not far from Waren harbor. I ate there twice 👌 first the fish platter 👌 and the next day the spicy fish, which was very tasty 👌. A must for guests on Lake Müritz.

Von der Tomatensuppe ist generell abzuraten. Sie schmeckt wie eine Ketchup - Barbecue - Soße. Es hat nichts mit Restaurant zu tun. Schweinefilet ist viel zu lange gebraten, trockenes Fleischfilet. Nachbargäste mit ihrem sehr großen Hund innerhalb des Restaurants, lassen dieses Tier seine Ausdünstungen während der Mahlzeit, zu. Nie wieder dieses "Restaurant"!!!!

We've eaten at the Old Gas Station twice now and were very impressed. The restaurant is very cozy and attractively decorated. The parrot Carlos is right in the middle and is a great attraction in the restaurant. The service is very friendly, nice and attentive and the chefs conjure up a meal on the table that is simply fantastic. A big thank you for that. Please keep it up, we'll definitely come back again.

Food is very good. The parrot bothered us something (hygiene), but dogs in the restaurant also bother us a bit. Even though we are dog owners ourselves. It always depends on how you deal with the dog.

Were there for dinner. Get a table without a reservation. Very friendly welcome, things brought straight for the child. In general, the service was the highlight of the evening and was really great! The ambience is rather rustic, with a tendency to be too neglected and nothing has been done to it for a long time. In the guest room it might still pass as charm, but in the toilet it was no longer and was rather borderline. Unfortunately, the food was standard in the friendliest sense. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't restaurant quality or restaurant standards, it was more like something you'd quickly made at home. The wild garlic pasta was simply a simple cream sauce with a hint of wild garlic that you couldn't really taste; generally the taste was rather bland. The “spicy fish” was fried too well and then simply had chili flakes on top (according to the menu it was “refined”). The pasta with the fish was probably the same cream sauce base as the wild garlic pasta, then just peppers and cashews were thrown in (the ones in the sauce had no flavor) and then chili powder on top again... The pile of salad on both plates could have been saved, and why they thought fried onions (not homemade) as a topping on the salad was a good idea remains another mystery. So if you have a bit of a claim to restaurant food, you're unfortunately wrong here (at least in our case). But the service at least kept the disappointment somewhat limited. For us it was the first and last time.

We spent our wedding anniversary in Waren at the end of January and became aware of the old gas station in advance. I'll be honest, it was already clear to me before our trip that we would eat there because there was a cockatoo entertaining the guests 😊 When we were there for the first time on Friday evening, we were absolutely NOT disappointed. Gastronomy is still run here with absolute dedication. The guest is absolutely in the foreground. And the entire staff would have 10 stars if it were possible here Deserved.And of course not to forget, Carlo the cockatoo was the absolute highlight for me 😄 I also have to say that I have never seen such a friendly team with whom we sat at the table and had fun conversations. Time was taken here, it felt very familiar, as if we had been coming here every weekend for 10 years. The food was simply delicious and the work here is also done with love. We liked it so much that we reserved a table again for the following evening 😊 Conclusion: we spent 2 fun and cozy evenings there, and will definitely come back... in our opinion, it is a must for every visitor to this town to get to know this restaurant, the absolutely lovely team, and of course also Carlo and the delicious food. We are grateful that we were allowed to be guests here. And we're already looking forward to the next time... Kind regards from Berlin...

Yes, you can recommend it, the food was very good

The service and ambience are really good. Waitresses are nice and attentive. The parrot is funny and something different...unfortunately the food wasn't good - we didn't dare tell the waitress because everyone at the neighboring table had complained - that's probably enough once in the evening. The children's meal with schnitzel and mixed vegetables was the best. The pasta with turkey was bland and the schnitzel aufour was over-seasoned…what a shame! We wouldn't come again...

If you like good food, excellent service and a great ambience, you will love this restaurant. As spontaneous guests we even got a place, even though the restaurant was very full. Long waiting times - none! We'd love to come back. 😃

The food has deteriorated a lot. The meat is extremely dry, the vegetables are burnt and the cheese on the ossi steak is too thick and not baked enough. The service is so far good and friendly. However, as a guest you are lied to about the draft behavior at the windows. They leak and it's far too cold to eat there.

If you like something hearty, this is the place for you. It was cozy and great service there. The food was more than plentiful, unfortunately I didn't manage to eat everything. The price is right too. The parrot is so cute. But it's better to reserve a table in advance, as it gets very crowded. Parking spaces in front of the gas station ⛽️ 😋

I would like to recommend this restaurant. The catfish was very tasty and my wife also liked the trout. The food was beautifully prepared and the serving staff were very attentive, friendly and personable. We would be happy to come over for dinner again. We felt very comfortable here. By chance we found a free parking space right in front of the restaurant and that's how we became aware of this restaurant.

We stopped by spontaneously and were lucky enough to get a seat in this great restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and the food was great. All employees were very attentive without seeming intrusive. Here you can get good German cuisine and the portions and the prices are great. A great extra is the parrot that belongs to the restaurant, which here and there puts a smile on the guests' faces.

The food was delicious and the amount on the plate was above average so that everyone was full. Definitely a 10/10 experience and worth a visit.

I would very much like to describe this place as outstanding. The food is of very tasty quality and the prices are very reasonable these days. A place where you feel comfortable and it's not just the cockatoo that contributes to this, but also the very courteous and friendly staff. The right choice would be happy again

Unfortunately we are absolutely dissatisfied. It was very cold and drafty in the seating area. Tomato soup first appeared to be a slightly different Bautzener from a jar. The turkey meat with tagliatelle was far too dry and completely salty. Then there was a smoked pork sauce with the turkey schnitzel and the steak with seasoned meat was also very tough. Finally, the fries, some of which were very soggy. Sorry, but not recommended. We won't eat there again.

A top location can only be recommended. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, open and very welcoming. Price performance top. I have never eaten such a delicious steak as I did there. Now a must for us when we are in Waren. We've been there for the 6th time today and we always try a different dish and are thrilled with the great taste and the super generous portions. Simply delicious!!!!!! The owner and her team are such warm people that we feel very comfortable there.

We have been here quite often and when we are in Waren it is currently our first address. It's always delicious and the prices are right. However, it is advisable to make a reservation, otherwise it might be impossible to get a table, especially in the evening.

The pork tenderloin was very dry and the turkey steak was the same. The store wasn't very busy, so you'd expect a little more in terms of quality. Any third-year apprentice can cook the food, speaking from experience after 15 years as a chef. I expected more. Service was good.

Very good home cooking and there is warm food until 9 p.m. which is a rarity in Waren

The restaurant was recommended to us by the Tschu Tschu train driver and we were very enthusiastic. Prices were between 15-20€ and the plates were well filled so that you were well full. Each of the 4 of us had a different dish and there was nothing to complain about at all. A small highlight was the cockatoo Carlo, who moves around freely there. Gladly again, on your next vacation. ☺️

It was just bad.....the pike perch and shrimp were fried to death and the metitare vegetables were overcooked and greasy. The ambience is zero. We had to wait far too long for the drinks, not to mention the food. This restaurant was always recommended to us but we were just disappointed 😞 and it was so loud and uncomfortable. Reservation seems required. The smoked pork pan was very good, but the turkey steak with tagliatelle was unfortunately a bit too dry. Otherwise a nice evening. The stay time was limited in advance to 1.5 hours. Unfortunately I can't say whether it was just day tickets.

Price/performance is okay, no profit. There is a children's menu and even the possibility of having a normal meal as a children's menu. The restaurant has a large white parrot that you can even pet. Personal note: Matjes fillet is outstanding!

Great food, inexpensive, cozy restaurant

We found the restaurant through Trip Advisor. There wasn't too much promised, the service was super friendly and, above all, the food was simply great. The children's menus are small so that they can be managed and the portions are sufficient for adults. My recommendation is the fish platter, which is also something for people who are reluctant to eat fish, like me :) You won't regret a visit here.
