Altes Gasthaus Leve in Münster

Wir (zwei Pärchen) waren an einem Samstag am späten Nachmittag/frühen Abend da. Es war nicht nur sehr gemütlich und schön urig (mit der Tendenz zu „versacken“), sondern auch ausgesprochen lecker! Die Speisekarte hat eine große Auswahl geboten und jedes unserer Gerichte war sehr geschmackvoll. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Nice traditional food and old school Germsn style decor. Very quirky and friendly waiter. Good value for money and meat eaters heaven.

The food was very very good but the restaurant was very full and the service was not the best, I would still repeat!☺️

Great food, great rooms. Addendum: Went to Münster again today and had lunch at Leve. Simply great food (bratwurst, pointed cabbage, puree). The next time we visit the cathedral we will eat it again, it was like 50 years ago at grandma's, where else can you find something like that? Only at Leve!!

Super rustikales Restaurant mit vielen Spezialitäten Nette aufmerksame Bedienung. Danke Essen klasse Ich habe knusprige Haxe gegessen. Klasse solche Haxe bekommt man nicht überall. Meine Frau hat Schweinefilet mit Pfifferlinge gegessen auch klasse

The very friendly lady at reception gets the 5th star. The waitresses try hard but don't really care about the guests. The food is good so far and the Caesar salad has room for improvement. We were in transit.

Wir hatten einen Tisch reserviert, weil wir über 10 Personen waren. Die Bedienung war super flink und wir bekamen nahezu gleichzeitig das Essen. Die Preise waren sehr intensiv. Rosmarin-Kartoffeln mit Dip für 14 Euro ... Bandnudeln mit Sahne und Pfifferlingen 16,80 (wäre ok, wenn sie nicht nach "Nix" geschmeckt hätten. Also wer nette Atmosphäre und guten Service sucht, hier absolut richtig. Mir ist der Geschmack wichtiger;

We had dinner here last night. The restaurant was wonderful. The decor was amazing. There are lots of food choices on the menu and they do offer the menu in English as well. Food was excellent and our waitress was attentive, friendly and fun to chat with. The restaurant was busy for a Wednesday night. We would definitely eat here again.

Schöne traditionelle Lokalität in der Münsteraner Altstadt mit klassischer gutbürgerlicher Küche und sehr gutem Essen und einem sehr aufmerksamen Service. Wir haben den letzten Platz draußen ergattert und waren insgesamt sehr zufrieden. Fazit: Lohnt!

Rustic historical location with excellent regional cuisine.

Beautiful old inn whose history can literally be felt in the guest room. There is also a nice selection of beers on tap. We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel from veal and the game ragout. Both dishes were very good. The prices are a little higher, yes, but definitely justified.

Super tasty food, priced between €20 and €30. Friendly staff, fast service, which is not a given at this size. It's not for nothing that it's the local with the most reviews. Gladly again!

We spent a really nice and enjoyable evening in the Altes Gasthaus Leve: the ambience was unique, the service, food and the beer from Pinkus were excellent.

Great place! The ambience is really worth seeing. All rooms lovingly furnished. There were five of us, three times the food was great, twice not so good. The Mettendchen was very dry and the schnitzel was fried for too long and was tough. Pork knuckle, lamb shank and game ragout were very tasty. The service was very friendly, but was responsible for too many tables

Although we had a great meal outside and left a good tip, the service inside at Altes Gasthaus Leve was downright disappointing. The sour headed waitress was rude and not hospitable at all. When it started to rain, we were put away in a musty dark hallway to finish our beer. What's wrong with German ministry? This was a very unpleasant experience and certainly not worth repeating.

For the 2nd time there...A catastrophe, so unfriendly everything was just put there and let us distribute it...Prices really expensive

Traditional inn centrally in Münster. Still run by the family. Outstanding cuisine with a wide selection of dishes. Altmünster and Westphalian specialties, mostly made from regional ingredients. Rustic brewery interior. If the weather is good, there is also outdoor dining. The offer changes with a daily lunch menu as well as an afternoon and evening menu. There is the large Alter Steinweg parking garage directly opposite.

On Tuesday shortly before 3 p.m. I was there with a friend. We were greeted very nicely by the friendly and neat waitress. She pointed out to us that lunch was served until 3 p.m. and handed us the separate menu. The food was really very good, made with love, just like grandma used to make. Very well-kept drinks were served there, including a very interesting beer punch. The interior is beautifully designed. The toilets are really very clean. Compared to many restaurants at the market or at the cathedral, for example, the prices really weren't high! All in all, all I can say is that when I visit the cathedral, I only go to the Leve inn This is set as a highlight!

Traditionelles gutbürgerliches Essen aus frischen Zutaten. Der Kellner war eine type für sich, mit dessen Art man umgehen muß, aber er war aufmerksam und freundlich.

Een restaurant met typische Duitse gerechten. Ook voldoende vegetarisch aanbod dat bovendien net wat 'anders dan standaard' is. De schnitzel van knolselderij met puree is verrukkelijk! Mijn partner kom als vleeseter ook heel goed terecht (keuzestress, vanwege te veel lekkere opties). Het interieur maakt een bezoek aan dit restaurant ook de moeite waard. Reserveren is meestal nodig, maar je kunt op de bonnefooi geluk hebben. Ik ben er nu tweemaal geweest.

If you're in the city center, you have to go there. If you are not in the city center, you should go to the city center of Münster and stop off there. ‼️‼️‼️‼️

Went there on a Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. and it was packed. When the weather was nice, we only waited 20 minutes outside with a beer for two free seats. The staff is very nice and attentive. The food is good, but also a bit more expensive, as LEVE is a traditional establishment and tourists go there in large numbers every day. Staff really quick and attentive. A dignified atmosphere peppered with hunting rooms and numerous antiques. We found it rustic and homely. The food was good and the price was a little higher.

Rustic atmosphere, perfect for tourists who like things traditional and home-style. The service is fast, attentive, friendly and (which is rare these days): quick-witted. There are no students employed here for the service, just people from the field and you can tell.

If you want to feel real german vibes, this is the perfect place. Good food, we tried the menu with 4 types of wursts, and it was awesome.

We were a couple that went out for dinner a Saturday evening. We wanted some authentic German food and ended up with Schweinhaxe and Sauerkraut. Very tasty and friendly and expedient waiter.

You go in with a lot of expectations, the natural atmosphere is beautiful but this beauty is masked by the food. From 1 to 10 I would only give 3 for food. Salad was just a few leaves of head of lettuce fried potatoes were squashed into a small bowl. Food very bad.

The pork knuckle was very, very tasty! I believe that Altes Gasthaus Leve is the best restaurant in Münster!

The worst thing I've had so far

If you want to lose yourself in the past and fall in love, then this is the place for you... Elegant but warm atmosphere. Waiters are really happy to help and advise you without rushing you. You can also find space for a couple of people without making a reservation. Everything was great, highly recommended!!

A beautiful inn with very attentive and friendly service. A large selection of beers and a very quaint decor. Many Westphalian specialties are offered. The starters are particularly interesting. However, there is certainly still room for improvement when it comes to food, which is probably due to the high number of visitors. Sauce, hollandaise, I don't think was homemade, but convenience products were used here.

I was there this weekend again. I haven't been back in a year, the prices have gone up a lot. To get away from the Schnitzel with Pommes that I always order, this time I chose fish. It had too many thorns. We have been going there to eat for ten years. The salad was tasteless. The potato salad was very watery. In my opinion, the quality of the food is low. The wonderful attention, and the very happy and festive atmosphere. I hope it's just an impression. Next time I will go back to the Schnitzel with Pommes.

Ate outside. Not seen inside. So can't say anything about the ambience. The food was good, home-style and very tasty. Schnitzel (very large) with paprika sauce and salad. The pepper sauce was very tasty, but unfortunately not much. Crispy fries, mmh. Salad dressing great. Would eat there again. Service nice and very friendly.

A few days ago I had the pleasure of visiting the Alte Gasthaus Leve in Münster. The rustic ambience in the style of a brewery from 1607 promised authentic Westphalian hospitality. Here are my impressions: Atmosphere and beer selection: The inn exudes cosiness and the large selection of beer specialties is impressive. Perfect for beer lovers! Vegetarian Options: Unfortunately the selection of vegetarian dishes was limited. I chose the asparagus which was well prepared. But the homemade hollandaise was disappointing. Service: The staff seemed stressed and inattentive, but when they had time they were friendly and accommodating. Volume: The inn is definitely not for quiet meetings. It was pretty loud. Invoicing: There is room for improvement here. The on-site bill was not itemized properly. Overall, the Altes Gasthaus Leve is a place for lively people who like the hustle and bustle.

We were there today and the food was very, very tasty 😊 If we are in this beautiful area again, we will stop by again. Since Preussen Münster was promoted to the second league today (congratulations), it was in front of the door of the inn a lot going on. We had our dog with us and we were then escorted to the back door so that we didn't have to go through the celebrating crowds again. This gesture left a lasting impression on us. Thank you very much again for that. We'll be happy to come back.

Quaint restaurant - also good with children. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm. There is a children's card, which is also a coloring page, and pens. The food is delicious and plentiful - and there is also a small vegetarian menu.

We were on holiday in Münster and wanted typical regional food. The Gasthaus Leve is perfect for this. The food is a delight and the service is very friendly. The ambience is perfect. We'd love to come back. Highly recommended!

Geweldige atmosfeer en beleving. Het heeft een menukaart met typisch lokale gerechten die allemaal heel amakelijk zijn. Het was er wel heel erg druk en daar moet je van houden. Aardige medewerkers die aandacht voor de gasten hebben.

Heerlijk gegeten. Duitse keuken, met zorg klaargemaakt. Inrichting met delfstblauwe tegeltjes en antiek. Laat je niet afleiden hierdoor. Het eten en de gezelligheid zijn prima. Grote menukaart. Het was heel druk, maar ondanks dat bleven de medewerkers heel vriendelijk en attent.

You get exactly what you expect. Good home-style food in a corresponding brewery/inn atmosphere. Our food was very tasty, the portions were generous and the service was very nice. If you go to Münster again, then come back here.

When you close your eyes and picture a German restaurant this is it. The decor was amazing. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered the sauerbraten it was fantastic and authentic German fare. This restaurant is not to be missed while in Munster.

Delicious Pilsner and very friendly service

Nach Langem haben wir wiedermal Münster besucht, mit einem Pflichtbesuch des Leve. Wir lieben die traditionellen Gerichte, die in anderen Orten, wo es nur "Drehspieß" gibt, ausgestorben sind. Hertvorstechend ist die freundliche, hilfsbereite Bediennung, angefangen beim freundlichen Empfang und Begleitung zum Wunschtisch, aufmerksamer, schneller Service und Flexibilität.

Very unfriendly service. Although there were still enough tables available, we were told with two people that we could only sit somewhere else.

I haven't seen such a child-friendly restaurant in a long time. The word inn says it all. Here the customer and their children are truly guests and not a nuisance. Great food at fairer prices. We will be back.
