The food is excellent. Every dish looks like it came straight from a good old family kitchen – fresh, high-quality, and prepared with palpable passion. The service also deserves high praise: attentive, warm, and pleasantly unobtrusive. You truly feel valued as a guest. This is a restaurant I can wholeheartedly recommend. Anyone who loves good food and appreciates an authentic, cozy atmosphere is guaranteed to be happy here.

It was like a bad dream. The staff was poorly organized and confused. The food was okay. The ambiance lived up to its name.

We were a large group on a company outing and had made a reservation at this restaurant, and unfortunately, we can only describe our visit as a complete disaster. We ordered around 7:15 p.m., but the food didn't arrive until 9:00 p.m. – a wait of almost two hours. The appetizers took over an hour to arrive, and one was completely forgotten. The main courses were then served haphazardly: almost 30 minutes passed between the first and last main course at our table. One main course never arrived at all, forcing two people to share a single dish. A promised delivery of the missing main course also failed to materialize. The quality of the food was mostly abysmal. Much of it was cold and tasted bad, while other dishes were, at best, average. A particularly bad example was the Brizza (a pizza made with pretzel dough, B-R-I-Z-Z-A), which was so rock hard that it resembled dry, mini pretzels and was barely edible. Several ingredients were missing from the salads, ingredients that, according to the menu, should have been included – clearly, chaos reigned supreme. Furthermore, plastic tables from the outdoor seating area were brought into the restaurant for our group, which was neither comfortable nor acceptable. As a "solution," we were told we could pre-order our meals by phone – an absolute outrage. That's not how you go to a restaurant. The final straw was our drink order: six Cokes Zero, which had obviously been diluted with regular Coke, apparently because they were out of Coke Zero – without any prior consultation or explanation. This could, in the most serious terms, be considered assault. The entire evening was chaotic, unprofessional, and poorly organized. Orders were misunderstood, dishes were forgotten, and the staff seemed completely overwhelmed. Particularly disappointing: no apology whatsoever for this fiasco. Regardless of whether it was an exceptional evening, this visit was a complete disaster from start to finish. Absolutely not recommended.

We went to the Alte Scheune restaurant in Heusenstamm this week for our Christmas party. Unfortunately, the visit was rather disappointing. We waited over two hours for our food. When it finally arrived, it wasn't served all at once, and one dish was missing entirely. While the food itself tasted okay, my salad, for example, was missing several items listed on the menu. This in no way compensated for the long wait and the organizational problems. Furthermore, we were sometimes seated at plastic tables that had been brought in from the outdoor seating area. Especially for a reserved Christmas party, one expects better planning and a smoother process. Therefore, we unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant.

We were here on December 19th, 2025, with a group of 10 people and had made a reservation in advance. Despite this, we waited almost two hours for our food, which was then thoroughly disappointing. The food wasn't served at the same time. One dish was incorrect, three others arrived late, and the third would have taken so long that they decided to forgo it altogether. We even witnessed them refilling our Coke Zero with regular Coke. There was no apology for any of this, and no offer of compensation such as a discount, free drinks, or anything similar. The staff wasn't particularly friendly either. Disappointing and not recommended.

Rating: 5 stars I had the pleasure of dining in the Old Barn recently and all I can say is that it was a fantastic experience! Food: The food was simply delicious. Every dish was freshly prepared, perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. The salad in particular was an absolute culinary delight. You can tell that the cooking here is done with love and care. Atmosphere: The atmosphere in the restaurant is just great. The stylish and cozy atmosphere invites you to linger. Whether for a romantic dinner for two or a relaxed meal with friends – you will immediately feel at home here. Hospitality: The service was excellent. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive and always tried to ensure that the guests didn't miss anything. You really feel welcome and well looked after here. All in all, I can highly recommend the old barn. Everything is just right here: the delicious food, the great atmosphere and the friendly hospitality. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Oasis of well-being. Not an everyday menu. The cook cooks great. The host couple has enough humor to serve us from the Lower Rhine in a smiling and friendly manner. Thank you for an unforgettable evening.

A special restaurant that resembles a cozy village pub, where many (older) local Germans from Heusenstamm (town near Frankfurt) go to eat. We had a delicious and affordable meal there and the Schnitzel with green sauce (Frankfurt specialty, recommended by local Germans) in particular was a surprise. Also very friendly and attentive service by the owner, like in a village pub. Despite the crowds in the shop (from 5 p.m.).

Wanted to eat here today because according to Google it is open. But stood in front of a locked door because of vacation. Too bad

Quaint restaurant with delicious food. Unfortunately our two dishes didn't arrive at the same time. I was almost finished with my meal when the other food came. But still highly recommended 👍 To compensate for the waiting time, we received a delicious apricot

So stellt man sich eine gemütliche Gaststätte mit herzlichen, freundlichen Wirtsleuten vor! Die Speiskarte ist "übersichtlich" mit großen und kleinen bürgerlichen Gerichten zusammengestellt; uns hat es geschmeckt und das Salatdressing ist ein Knaller!

Were there for the first time today and were very satisfied. The food and the owner were great and very friendly. Casual, relaxed atmosphere in a rustic ambience. Pretzel pizza was very tasty and the side salad had a very tasty dressing. On our next visit we will try the schnitzel variations. At least they looked very tasty at the next table!! We'd love to come back ;-).

Ich war heute sehr Spontan in der Alten Scheune Abendessen. Ich bin hin und Weg. Superliebes Personen. Ich persönlich lege viel Wert auf Blickkontakt und hier bekommt man es. Ich habe bei der Alten Scheune das beste Schnitzel gegessen was ich gegessen habe. Und der Preis ist mehr als Fair. Wen ich könnte würde ich 6Sterne oder mehr geben.

Absolut empfehlenswert. Super leckeres Essen mit viel Liebe zubereitet und das für wenig Geld. Der Wirt immer freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Bürgerliches sehr leckeres Essen. Unbedingt den beilagen Salat probieren! Der Wirt ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Preise sind gerade heute sehr sehr Fair (schnitzel 11 Euro, Bier 3 Euro) klar ist das keine 5 Sterne gasto wo man aber 40 pP bezahlt. Es ist genau das was man unter Bürgerlich versteht. Nicht abgehoben, kein schickimicki. Fair! Anständig. Bodenständig. War jetzt 5 mal da. Kein Grund zu meckern. Immer wieder gerne!

Schöne Atmosphäre in einer urigen Gaststube. Der Chef bedient selbst und ist nicht nur freundlich sonder aich auf Zack. Das Essen war sehr sehr lecker. Angefangen mit einem gut gewürzten Salat zur Vorspeise war der Hauptgang einfach nur gut.

Wir haben ein bisschen lange aufs Essen gewartet aber es hat sich gelohnt. Sehr gemütlich und wirklich gutes Essen zum kleinen Preis. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder

Wir Wohnen seit ersten Dezember 21 hier in Heusenstamm eigentlich geneu gegenüber von der Alten Scheune. Da das Lokal in einem Hinterhof liegt und von außen sehr unscheinbar wirkt haben wir es trotz Umzugs Stress irgendwie einmal Probieren wollen. Sehr überrascht von dem Service und der Küche sind wir dann mehrmals als Gäste dort gewesen und wurden immer wieder davon überzeugt das unsere erste Entscheidung dort einzukehren noch nie Enttäuscht worden ist. Hier kann man sich Sicher und Wohlfühlen ( Angebehnmes Publikum ) der Wirt sehr Freundlich und Aufmerksam ( geht auf dir Wünsche des Gastes ein ) die Küche ist gut Bürgerlich und zu einem Angenehmen Preis erschwinglich. Oftmals Wünscht man sich solche Lokalitäten öfters zu finden. Zufriedenheit sollte man nicht verwechseln mit einem Vier Sterne Lokal, dann wäre man hier nicht richtig am Platz. Aber Geselligkeit Geborgenheit, Sicherheit , sind hier auf jeden Fall gegeben. MfG H. Volk ein neuer Stammgast von gegenüber.

In der Corona Zeit sucht man natürlich des öfteren Mal Wege um das Kochen zu sparen. Da helfen mir die Beiden von der Alten Scheune gerne aus. Vor allem das Tiroler Schnitzel ist ein Hochgenuss. Auch die selbstgemachten Hamburger. Nur wird es Zeit, dass mal endlich wieder die Lokale normal aufmachen können. Ich würde gerne mal wieder mein Baccardi Cola direkt bei Manfred trinken. Wie in der "guten alten Zeit".

Good German fare. The waitress doesn't speak English, so I can practice my German. I like that.

Wirklich sehr empfehlenswert! Preis Leistung ist einfach Top! Die Qualität des Schnitzels und der Beilage war hervorragend. Das Salatdressing fand ich ebenfalls sehr sehr gut.
