This restaurant is highly recommended, firstly for its beautiful, appealing ambiance; you can linger comfortably both inside and outside. In this case, we opted for outside. The seating is very comfortable and offers plenty of space for a truly comfortable meal. It was very pleasing that, despite the good weather, blankets were laid out for those who wanted to keep their feet a little warmer or while sitting. It wasn't long before a very nice young lady came over and asked us what we wanted to drink and presented us with the menus. You could slowly notice the restaurant filling up. The choice was made quickly, and the menu is very well designed. It's designed so that there's something for everyone, including a vegetarian section, and the selection on the menu is also very good. The prices are reasonable and don't differ much from those of other restaurants. There was an elderflower spritzer and an apple spritzer, each 0.4L, which tasted very good, with a very intense elderflower flavor and not too much sparkling water. The apple juice spritzer was also absolutely fine. The dishes: 1 x Wiener Schnitzel and 1 x Jägerschnitzel, both with French fries Both were very nice in terms of presentation and appearance. The Wiener Schnitzel was also an original Wiener Schnitzel (veal), and the French fries were very decoratively arranged in a frying basket on the plate, along with a small bowl of cranberries, very nice. The Jägerschnitzel was more like two pieces with a decent amount of mushrooms (definitely very fresh) and sauce. Here, too, the French fries were in a decorative basket, but on a separate plate. The overall impression was very good! The taste was absolutely outstanding and the preparation very well. The breading was also great, it stuck to the meat (no skimping on the egg, etc.) and had a very good consistency. The French fries were also cooked to perfection, giving it full marks. The Jägerschnitzel was also perfectly cooked, not chewy, but very well seared and nicely juicy inside. The sauce was delicious and, combined with the mushrooms, really excellent! After the meal, I took a look under the fries basket and there was no grease, the fries were nicely drained and very well salted. Then, as the dishes were being cleared away, the young lady first asked us if everything was OK, which we confirmed. Then the chef came over and asked us again, thanking us for coming and being happy to be able to serve us. He also offered us something on the house. During the payment process, they again thanked us very kindly and wished us a "wonderful Sunday and would be delighted to welcome us back." Conclusion: If you're looking for a good, friendly restaurant for a reasonable price but with truly excellent food, you'll be well served here! The price/performance ratio is absolutely reasonable, with very good quality and a very good quantity. They place great importance on good presentation and guest satisfaction, with a very pleasant and friendly approach. We felt very comfortable here; we really enjoyed the food, and every cent we paid was worth it! Many thanks to the excellent staff, including the chef, for this outstanding service, and a huge thank you to the kitchen staff for these first-class dishes. We will definitely be back, and more often.

I walked into the restaurant. I was greeted warmly and asked for a table. Even though I didn't have a reservation, I was offered the best spot by the window. I was very pleased with the lunch. The friendly manager even treated me to an ice cream with hot raspberries after a pleasant chat. This is what modern gastronomy looks like: the customer is king.

A very nice and cozy restaurant in an old half-timbered house. There's a large terrace with parasols in front. The restaurant is located on the edge of the pedestrian zone. Parking is available in the surrounding parking garages. Friendly and attentive service is provided in two dining rooms (Stuben). The entrance area has a bar/counter and a few seats. The food is lovingly and tastefully prepared. The original Wiener Schnitzel is highly recommended. The menu is small but excellent. I highly recommend it.

We happened upon the Alte Post today. We had the daily special: pork loin with fries and salad. Everything was freshly made. The pork loin was grilled and cooked to perfection. The service was very friendly. I highly recommend it. 👍

Das Restaurant liegt am Rande der Altstadt in der Nähe des Vorstadtplatzes. Es verfügt über ca. 40 Innen- und 60 bis 70 Aussenplätze. Die übersichtliche Speisekarte enthält sowohl internationale als auch regionale Gerichte. Die Preise für Speisen und Getränke liegen eher im oberen Teil der Mittelklasse. Bedient wurden wir schnell und freundlich. Wir bestellten ein Jägerschnitzel und ein vegetarisches Gericht (Bandnudeln). Die Gerichte waren ausreichend. Allerdings war m.E. das Fleisch etwas zu lange in der Pfanne und es fehlte auch die gewisse Würze. Daher auch nur die durchschnittliche Bewertung. Positiv dagegen bewerten wir neben der Bedienung auch das Ambiente im Innenraum.

We were here for lunch today. The food was outstandingly good, with a generous amount of fresh mixed salad, as if it had come straight from the garden to the table. The meat was wonderfully flavorful and tender. The fried potatoes and sausage salad with fresh side dishes in enormous quantities were a complete satisfaction. We travel a lot, know exactly what top-notch food is, and this place is a winner in every respect. We'll definitely be back. Oh, and the staff is attentive and very friendly.

I've been visiting the Alte Post for five years now – and I'm impressed every time. The consistently high quality of the food at fair prices makes this restaurant particularly recommendable to me. At lunchtime, it's usually easy to find a table without a reservation. However, if you want to come in the evening, it's best to make a reservation in advance.

Unfortunately, the service was abysmal. It took forever (over 45 minutes) for the food to arrive, even though the restaurant was barely half full, just the terrace. Unfortunately, the meat in the salad was so dry that it was inedible. When we told the waitress, she mockingly said we'd pass it on to the chef... "Yes, definitely." At prices like these, I expect better quality and better service.

We have never eaten so badly, terrible, tough and unseasoned meat, inedible, no concessions on price, unsympathetic service, no insight at all

Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We ordered four dishes in total – three of which were absolutely inedible. The meat was completely unseasoned, the salad had almost no dressing, and the little that was on it was unfortunately not very tasty either. One of the sauces was so unpleasant in taste that it was also inedible. We returned all three dishes – no lie: almost untouched. Nevertheless, we were presented with the full bill at the end, without any consideration or understanding. When we politely approached them, the staff reacted rather unfriendly and unsympathetic. After a lengthy discussion, we were only able to get a voucher (only worth about half the bill) (a voucher is completely pointless; we won't be coming back).

My partner and I have been there several times, and we have always enjoyed the food. On Friday, June 13, 2025, we were disappointed with both the service and the food. We ordered a veal schnitzel and pork fillet with asparagus. The veal schnitzel was blue/gray, and the breading fell off on its own; the pork fillet was gray and dry. We told the waitress that we didn't like the food this time. The waitress told us in a curt tone that "the food isn't always the same." For €33 per person, we expected a delicious meal. We won't be going there again in the future.

March 2025: Since my first visit to the Alte Post restaurant in Nagold, I have been coming back here again and again - and for good reason! Very nice and well-kept restaurant with friendly service. We were there on Wednesday lunchtime and I had the dish of the day with the zander fillet, highly recommended and delicious. The amount of food was also enough. We'll be back 😀 My mother and I were even in this restaurant again 1 year later, on March 18, 25, and it was still very tasty, good service, nice ambience! The food is good. However, I had to complain about my Cola Weizen because first the Cola and then the Weizen came in. Unfortunately, the drink cannot mix and does not taste good. After explaining twice that the wheat had to go in first, the boss came and complained that he had never done it differently in 50 years of catering and what kind of job I had that I was trying to have a say here. All the other guests joined me and all I could hear from the kitchen was complaining. Unfortunately, very unprofessional behavior that simply doesn't work in customer service.

Heute war ich mal wieder in meinem absoluten Lieblingsrestaurant – der Alten Post in Nagold. Ein wunderschönes Fachwerkhaus, das wohl das markanteste Gebäude der Stadt ist. Our second visit, the food is completely fine, unfortunately the service is subpar!! At first we weren't served for ages despite having a reservation, then the neighboring tables were given priority even though they came later. It took about 20 minutes until we could order something to drink, but we weren't allowed to order our food straight away. It took about 1.5 hours after ordering until we received our food. We actually just wanted to go out for a quick bite to eat and were there for several hours for two dishes and two drinks. 👎

This restaurant, with its history of changing ownership over the years, continues to show mixed results. The current owners demonstrate culinary promise with very good food quality, suggesting potential. However, the family-run front of house operations significantly undermine the dining experience through disorganized service - forgotten orders, confusion about dish assignments, and an overall unprofessional and immature approach that detracts from the kitchen's apparent strengths. Train (or replace) the front of house team members and this restaurant might just have a better chance than previous owners.

...simply one of the best restaurants there is... we (three people) had the lunch of the day (schnitzel (Viennese style) with paprika sauce)... and all three of us were absolutely satisfied. Even the mixed salad that you get first is absolutely fresh and "crunchy"... with a dressing that tastes in the "top league"... and then the convincing main meal that is so incredibly good that... who Like us, who often go to very expensive restaurants... are simply speechless (less than €14 per meal!!!). Therefore honest recommendation. Further Visit about 1 year later at the end of October 2024 Pork fillet with spaetzle and sauce. Pork fillet: two very small pork fillet "pieces" Taste OK but clearly not enough. Spaetzle: the consistency is ok. Sauce: Taste of Maggie or Knorr sauce not comparable to before! What's going on there. Preparation: The above-mentioned meal was served in a deep plate, the sauce almost reached the edge of the plate, the spaetzle and the little meat were floating in it. Visually it can no longer be compared with what was previously offered. How is something like that possible? Too bad. In the end we wanted to pay with Visa like before. The waitress then informed us that this was not possible today! As a guest, I expect something like this to be communicated to me BEFORE I order and not after the meal! And she could have avoided telling the waiter that there was an ATM nearby. Assessment New: Only mediocre, poor price/performance ratio, No more recommendation

Although the ambience is promising, the service, especially the boss, was extremely unfriendly and rude. From the beginning we were treated disrespectfully; she reacted irritably and dismissively to inquiries. You also get the impression that the staff also needs to be treated better. The food was okay, but the unprofessional treatment of guests definitely doesn't recommend this restaurant for me. The nice lady with the black hair who gave us top service gets one star. Unfortunately, overall the visit left us very disappointed!

The food was ok but not particularly tasty. Käsespätzle were more like spaetzle in a cheese and cream sauce and were very fatty. Somehow the atmosphere wasn't right for me either. It's nicely furnished, but I missed the feel-good factor. Prices are ok but again not for me.

Ate very well here, onion roasts were really very good, fried to medium medium. I can only recommend it and would love to come here again myself.

Update: We go there every now and then to eat. The food is still very tasty. The Wiener Schnitzel is simply outstanding and better than in some well-known restaurants in Vienna. The two of us had lunch there on the terrace on a Saturday. Both the Käsespätzle and the Wiener Schnitzel were very tasty. To be honest, I haven't had such a good schnitzel in a long time. The potato salad was homemade, which is a very positive thing since it's rare to find that these days. All that was missing was a little salt and pepper, but you can season it yourself if necessary. The waitresses were very friendly.

The food is really recommended, when it came to service we noticed that only the boss took the money. When I praised the chef again and asked politely how the tip was regulated, i.e. whether it was also shared with the kitchen and the waitress, it became borderline . The boss forbids asking such questions and tells me in an inappropriate tone “It’s none of her business.” I could give the chef a tip directly. It's a shame, but I think your nerves are on edge, that's why I still give it 4 stars.

Alte Post Nagold - a truly historic place. Right in the heart of Nagold, right on the suburban square is “the old post office”. Formerly a post station on the Poststrasse from Freudenstadt to Stuttgart - today a cozy restaurant with the Kutscherstube and a beautiful terrace where you can enjoy food outside when the weather is good. The food is good.. the service is friendly and fast and the location is of course an absolute dream - the Hotel Post is probably one of the most sought-after photo motifs in Nagold. Our food was delicious... I was only surprised by the light sauce when it came to the roast... the spaetzle could also have used a bit more salt. Overall, however - food and location - a harmonious package.

Beware of a restaurant that is hostile to children!! We have rarely experienced something like this. When our little Bambini became a little louder and sometimes screamed (normal behavior for a child), we were asked by the managing director, Ms. Juric, if she could help us with the child so that it is quiet! She also recommended that we go outside with the child when it was pouring rain until it was calm. After asking the guests around our table, we were told that they hadn't complained and that they loved children, which was also evident in their behavior towards the little ones. Ms. Juric treated our child like a nuisance and interrupted us several times while we were eating and forced us to leave the restaurant early. It's a shame to treat our future generation like this and to show such child-hostile behavior.

The three of us (family) had dinner there last night. Had a nice large table in the cozy atmosphere. The service was excellent, friendly and committed. We especially found the two young waitresses (one of whom was probably trained) very charming. Great team. The food was outstanding. We had the Müllerin Forelle, the homemade Maultaschen and my wife the Strammen-Max. Very lovingly prepared, perfect craftsmanship and excellent taste. We were all very excited. There are very nice desserts, sorbet and creme brule are absolutely recommended. Service, cuisine and ambience (in that order) make us look forward to the next meal

I found this very inflexible and customer-unfriendly. When the waitress said that she would like to have a private chef at home, the idea that the customer is king was over. I don't like being insulted as a guest. If it had just been the two of us, we would have left. I don't think I will eat there again and the 6 of us were disappointed. Ps. the Wiener Schnitzel and the roast beef were perfect. The potato salad is unimaginative and has a dull taste. The roast beef sauce was too thin and tasteless. Very unfortunate

If you have mixed salad, only get carrot salad 4. When asked whether the Jägerschnitzel can be breaded, the answer is a direct negative. Then the statement “she asks”. The schnitzel delivered was of course unbreaded without further consultation. 5. Onion roast was delivered cold due to the faux pas of the schnitzel. Despite many mistakes, the boss was unable to apologize. I won't be entering the restaurant again.

Wir haben hier als Touristen an drei Abenden gegessen. Also wir wissen nicht, wann wir das letzte Mal so unfassbar lecker gegessen haben…Unglaublich!!! Auch die Bedienung war grandios, diese machen es voller Liebe und engagement, das merkt man auch. Sollten wir wieder einmal hier sein, werden wir Euch 100% wiedet besuchen. Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante tipico di Nagold, con mangiando un piatto unico locale (Schwabenpfännle), ossia medaglioni di filetto di manzo con un sacco di contorni e un Maultäschle, una specie di mega raviolo ripieno. La qualità era decisamente buona, la quantità (vedi foto) anche. Per chi ama la cucina locale, consigliabile.

Mein Zwiebelrostbraten war super, medium wie bestellt. Preis/Leistung in einem Restaurant im Zentrum Nagolds finde ich sehr gut. Isa absolut eine Empfehlung. Komme wieder.

Wir waren in der Kutscherstube. Der Platz den man uns zugewiesen hat, war reichlich ungemütlich. Wir sassen zu zweit direkt an der Laufstrasse vom Service. Ein ruhiges Mittagessen war das nicht, ständig ist die Bedienung an unserem Tisch vorbei gestriffen. Paprikarostbraten medium war ganz ordentlich. Sosse wohl nicht selbst hergestellt. Pommes waren lecker. Der Salat sehr dürftig, nur ein Miniklecks Kartoffelsalt, wenig Karotte, 1 dicke Scheibe Salatgurke in 2 Hälftn geschnitten, obenauf Blattsalat. Könnte etwas vielfältiger gestaltet werden.

Das Essen war eigentlich gut und reichlich, eher zu viel (kleine Portion gab es nicht) aber zu wenig gewürzt.

Klasse Wirt + Bedienung, Top Essen, gute Auswahl, moderate Preise für die Qualität. Waren heute spontan mit einer größeren Gruppe Essen und wurden Top bedient. Gerne wieder und Beste Grüsse an die Küche.

Essen sehr gut und reichlich,freundliches Personal. Was hier super ist man kann mit einem Rollator ebenerdig rein fahren und 2 Stufen hoch das geht und bei Toilette war das auch so.👍
