From the outside, the restaurant looks very nice. However, the interior is outdated. It was very cold inside; we were completely chilled after our meal. The waitstaff were unprofessional, wearing long jackets (because of the cold) which constantly created a draft at neighboring tables, and they spoke very loudly. The food was very average; the carp was bland and unappetizing. The salad was very cold. Because of the dim lighting, you could barely see the bones. Once and never again!

It was delicious here; we were there with my grandfather's birthday party. I had the beef tenderloin tips, and my husband and son had the venison shoulder. Everything was very good, including the soup beforehand.

Excellent, upscale Franconian cuisine. With a reservation, you're seated in the historic, rustic ground floor; without a reservation, you're seated upstairs, which is also very nicely furnished. The wedding soup as a starter was delicious, I had the venison ragout, which was also a culinary delight, and my companion's pork tenderloin was exceptionally tasty. Everything was beautifully presented.

You might not find cheap food here, but it's delicious. High-quality products and something special. I haven't had such delicious venison in a long time. We'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately, we forgot to take a photo or video. We enjoyed the festive soup, both in small and large portions. Afterwards, we had Franconian bratwurst with sauerkraut. We were passing through on a Friday at lunchtime. We got a table without a reservation, even though it was almost full. We felt very comfortable there and happily continued our journey. We will definitely come back.

While searching for good Franconian cuisine, we found the Alte Post on Google. Shortly before entering the restaurant, we met an elderly gentleman who wished us "bon appetit" with the words, "This is the best restaurant in the area." And we were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, very friendly service, and absolutely fantastic food. We had a soup with semolina, dumplings, liver dumplings, and Fäldlen (a kind of fried dumplings)... An absolute delight! And for the main course, venison shoulder and beef fillet tips with chanterelle mushrooms and homemade spaetzle. It was a taste experience, thank you very much.

Whenever I'm in Nuremberg or the surrounding area, I eat here. Small, fine menu. All dishes are freshly prepared and incredibly delicious, especially the desserts. Lovely terrace in summer, cozy dining rooms in winter. Also highly recommended: the homemade gingerbread – incredibly delicious! And the service is very attentive and friendly. Great Franconian hospitality!

The venison shoulder was again wonderful. Other meals here were also consistently excellent, and the service was very friendly.

We had a reservation for lunch today. We got our drinks and appetizer quickly. We had to wait an hour and a half for our main course, which we only got after asking for, and it was lukewarm. We were promised a coffee as compensation, but we had to pay for it. When we asked, we were told that the manager had requested it. These prices and this service are a disgrace. There was no sign of customer service. We won't be returning to this restaurant, and we won't recommend it to anyone.

Located right next to the magnificent fortified church, this restaurant offers fine Franconian cuisine! A fantastic selection of delicacies, with professional and very friendly service! A wonderful spot for a casual getaway or a large family celebration. In summer, the terrace is lovely and spacious. We'd be happy to return!

We visited this restaurant during a training session in Erlangen. We had a delicious traditional Schaufele meal. It was warm in the sun, but the pints of Hefeweizen made up for it.

The food is always top-notch, just the way you want it. Asparagus in season is excellent. Schäuferl (a kind of pork shoulder) is excellent, moderately large and soft. Käsespätzla (cheese spaetzle) is hot and delicious. As I said, everything is top-notch.

Invited to a confirmation. And there were at least five confirmations taking place simultaneously in various adjoining rooms. And what can I say? Excellent food, excellent cold drinks, fantastic service, just for us, always prompt and attentive. In between, we strolled to the fortified church and sat on a bench in the sun in the church garden. Franconia at its best. High praise.

Well eaten, good prices, friendly staff

The two of us were at the Alte Post on a Monday evening. It was advantageous that we had reservations as it was well attended. The first positive thing was that we were allowed to come with our little dog. :) About the ambience: The old post office is a very beautiful, cozy old sandstone house with beams in the guest room, which has a special charm. The menu is clear, not too full and still a small selection. Unfortunately there are only two vegetarian alternatives (cheese spaetzle and pumpkin ravioli) and nothing vegan. About the food & service: The service is friendly, but you can tell that there aren't enough staff in the house. A good 20 minutes had passed by the time we ordered drinks. Unfortunately there was no carp, which is why we actually came. We actually waited an hour after we ordered and we were very hungry. In the meantime we thought that something had been forgotten because the table next to us ordered much later than us, but received something much quicker. But it turned out for us that that must have been the regulars' table. Even though this has nothing to do with the restaurant, this table did not bring us any joy. There was a strong political discussion, with many right-wing populist, fascist statements. We actually wanted to order a dessert, but after we waited again for over 20 minutes and the ambience became increasingly poor due to the neighboring table, we paid and left. All in all OK: Food - nothing special or the taste didn't blow us away (vegetarian ravioli and schnitzel with potatoes and salad). Service - friendly, couldn't keep up, waiting times were far too long. Ambiance - Restaurant beautifully and rustically maintained.

Franconian upscale inn with a wonderful, cozy atmosphere, small rooms. Reservations are definitely recommended, well attended. Service very pleasant, friendly, fast, very attentive. Short waiting time, food on the table (almost) at the same time. Viennese schnitzel, leg of venison, winter salad with mushrooms and nuts, Franconian baked carp, served with dark beer from Eichstätt. All dishes were very tasty, side salads were fresh and appetizing, and the beer was great. Prices in the upper range, but definitely worth it.

Once again we had reserved a table on Boxing Day. The rooms are beautifully decorated for Christmas and the waiter is friendly and always there when you need him. The menu offers a good selection. Fish, game and vegetarian dishes are also offered. The price level is just as high as the quality offered: excellent. This is rarely found today. And the offers on the Christmas holidays are rather rare anyway. For 4 people we paid around 180€ for the main course, dessert and 1 drink each. That's not a small amount, but it's appropriate.

Yesterday we were able to redeem a voucher from our neighbors. In this way we got to know a restaurant that we otherwise would not have had on our radar due to its distance from our home. Top in every respect!!! Thank you very much for the delicious food and the very friendly service...

Mit 6 Erwachsenen und einem 2 ½-jährigen waren wir zwei Tage vor Weihnachten zum Abendessen in der Alten Post und genossen die fränkische Küche des Hauses (u. a. Karpfen in Bierteig gebacken, Schäuferle, Rehschulter, fränkische Bratwürste, Kartoffelkloß für den Buben) und können das Essen nur loben! Die Bedienung war freundlich und schnell. Die Räume in dem denkmalgeschützten Gebäude sind äußerst gemütlich. In der unmittelbaren Nähe lohnt der Besuch der denkmalgeschützten Wehrkirche St. Georg, ursprünglich aus dem 14. Und 15. Jahrhundert.

The food at the Alte Post in Kraftshof is always very good. I've eaten there several times, especially the Schäufele - extremely tasty and a crust is a crust. But everything else on the menu is also recommended. Be sure to make a reservation as the Alte Post is very popular. Update from December 29, 2024: Today I ate 1x breast of the farmer's goose and 1x fish roulade. This time I thought about the photo! It was very good again, the service is always friendly and attentive. Thank you very much - we look forward to the next time.

The atmosphere for our Christmas party was lovely, the table was set for Christmas. The space was very tight for 9 people, especially when eating when there were drinks and several plates at the table. It wasn't that nice. The service was friendly and fast, sometimes too fast, which sometimes disrupted the conversation. The food was ok. The portions are sufficient. The veal schnitzel for 28 euros was extremely dry. It could have been seasoned better. And charging 1 euro extra for 1 tablespoon of cranberries is ugly! All in all, the Alte Post has declined. There are better places with delicious food and much better value for money.

Geplant war ein Adeventsessen mit der Familie in fränkischem Ambiente mit guter Küche. Hierfür war die Alte Post in Kraftshof immer eine zuverlässige Adresse. Leider hat sich das grundlegend geändert. Unser Tisch im ersten Stock war in einer gemütlichen ruhigen Stube, allerdings war außer einem kleinen Teelicht mit einem mini Tannenzweig keinerlei weihnachtiche Dekoration vorhanden. Die Dame die uns bediente war von Anfang an sehr kurz angebunden und zeigte keine Freundlichkeit, geschweige denn ein Lächeln. Als Vorspeise kamen riesige Salate, matschig, in salziger Soße ertränkt mit einem Berg wässriger Pilze. Noch schlimmer waren die Hauptspeisen, die ausschließlich mit fertiger Soße, Dosenprodukten und Pulver Würzmischungen zubereitet waren und somit ungenießbar. Ich hatte schon deutlich besseres Krankenhausessen. Sehr schade! Hinzu kommen die völlig überzogenen Preise für diese Zumutung, Vorspeisen um 15€ Hauptspeisen 30€.

Drove to see Schloss Neunhof but it was closed. Whilst initially disappointed, we were very glad as we happened upon the nearby lovely picturesque town of Kraftshof and even more delighted that we were allowed to have lunch in Alte Post, despite not having reservations. The lunch was everything we imagined a great Franconian meal to be… we particularly enjoyed the goose liver dishes ie the festive soup and the braised liver were sublime. Dessert was so lovely and generous and their non-alcoholic drinks not to be missed. We loved the food so much, we ordered the baked carp and more braised liver for our takeaway dinner and they did not disappoint. The carp was still crispy and the fish tenderly cooked when we ate it hours later. Thank you to the team at Alte Post for the wonderful food and service set in a quaint, warm and welcoming surrounding. We recommend this to be the go to place if you are in the area.

Wir hatten einen Abend voller skuriller Begegnungen, angefangen von einer Bedienung gänzlich ohne Humor, über einen Salat, der an sich schon versalzen und alt war, dessen Qualität jedoch noch von den im Dampfgarer „gebratenen“ Pilzen vollends zunichte gemacht wurde bis hin zu lieblos auf Krankenhaus Geschirr angerichteten Hauptspeisen, die schlecht herausstaffierte Convenience Gerichte zu sein schienen. Die begleitenden Beilagen, deren Geschmack der Rocky Horror Show zu entstammen schienen waren über gar, getränkt in Fertigsaucen und sind allesamt beinahe unangetastet zurück gegangen. So wartete eine Dschungel Camp Prüfung auf die nächste und wir hatten einen sehr lustigen und sicher unvergesslichen Abend, der jedoch kulinarisch katastrophal war.

Very good Franconian food. Despite the lack of vegan food, the staff was super helpful and quickly conjured up a vegan dish for me, so I didn't have to resort to the salad alternative. The guests' other food also looked perfect! Beautifully colorfully prepared and seems to have tasted good. From the outside, I didn't think that such a beautiful hall of mirrors inside would invite you to eat and linger. Just great!

We made a reservation at the “Alte Post” today for my mother’s birthday. The reception was very nice, we got a very nice place which was also set with a tablecloth. This is not common and there is usually an additional charge if you request this. From the aperitif to the espresso, everything was great. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and very nice. It's always worth coming to the small town of Kraftshof.

Die Festtagssuppe hat nach Instantbrühe (8,00 € ?)geschmeckt völlig fad, der Beilagen Salat war richtig versalzen, ging zurück, die Brezenknödel waren bockelhart, wohl schon etwas „älter“, die Pfifferlinge für 21,00 € waren leider auch nicht mehr die Frischesten, ohne den typischen Pilz-Geschmack. Die Dessertkarte: darin 2/3 Mövenpick-Eis anzubieten, also gefrorenes Zuckerwasser mit Geschmacksverstärker, das gibt's im Supermarkt günstiger. Gerne hätten wir 1 Blick i. d. Weinkarte geworfen u. nicht 6 Weinsorten mündlich v. der Bedienung "runtergerattert" bekommen, war 1 Blindverkostung. P.S. der Salat wurde erst nach Nachfrage fast am Ende des Essens nachgereicht - aber eh egal s.o. Es war eine Geburtstagseinladung und wir waren 4x enttäuscht.😩

The Alte Post is a small restaurant in the middle of Neunhof With its delicious food and beautiful ambience, the restaurant offers a delicious memory. The proximity to the fortified church also makes it ideal to end the day here after church festivals. In my opinion the Alte Post is a very nice place to eat. That's why 5 stars from me

We came here in a larger group after a hike. No reservation but the service made it possible for us. Thank you again for that. But you should definitely make a reservation! The Schäufele is awesome, simply very good. But there were also other great dishes on the menu, both meat and vegetarian. The price is a little higher, but you also get good quality and great service. We'll definitely be back, but make a reservation for outside.
