We came to the old brewery by chance because the restaurant across the street wasn't that great... What can I say BEST DECISION! Super nice, rustic atmosphere, super nice and attentive service! The girls are just great. And the food is amazing. I haven't had such good German food in a long time. Everything fresh... The fried potatoes are amazing! And what you rarely get in German restaurants, a schnapps or even a small cocktail on the house after your meal! Thank you. We'll definitely be back!

Found by chance and spontaneously. It was shot in black. Very tasty food. Great service and just the same ambience. I'll stop by there often.

We were there for lunch (Sunday) We reserved a table by phone. The decor of the guest room is rustic with great wooden furniture and decorated with old pictures. The service was friendly and immediately brought a high chair after assigning the table. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. In addition, other dishes were recommended handwritten on a blackboard. Changing the dishes (spätzle instead of fries or dumplings instead of spaetzle with the roulades) was no problem. Everything arrived correctly. The drink order went quickly and the soup arrived just 20 minutes after the food order, followed a short time later by the side salad. Another 10 minutes later the food arrived. The dishes were all delicious and we had and have nothing to complain about. Conclusion: Cozy and rustic restaurant with very tasty food. We'd be happy to do it again at any time, this time in the beer garden.

We wanted to eat home-style and regional food again. Beef roulades were offered on the menu and on the recommendation board, which we ordered. The waitress came back, unfortunately. And that in the early afternoon. So I ordered fried fish, which I also like to eat. He came out of the kitchen suspiciously quickly. Result: hard on the outside and still raw on the inside! It no longer mattered that the side salad was drowned in an indefinable dressing! Conclusion: we won't go there anymore!

The two of us spontaneously went there for dinner on a Sunday evening. In addition to the normal menu, there were seasonal dishes, now in autumn especially with mushrooms. The food was delicious and plentiful, especially there were enough mushrooms! The prices in the restaurant are normal and definitely appropriate for the quality. Unfortunately it was a bit too dark in the beer garden in the courtyard.

My new favorite Biergarten in Durlach. I don't remember what I ordered, but it was recommended. That skewer was doused in booze then lit. Unbelievable!

The food itself wasn't bad, only the doneness of my steak wasn't right at all. I ordered English and received medium. The spaetzle and the sauce were really good and the soup for the starter was also good, but could have been a little hotter. The service was nice and friendly but a little lost. If I hadn't taken the initiative, I would have had to wait even longer for the drinks. Because no one came by themselves and asked if we would like something more to drink. The ambience, on the other hand, is really great and inviting.

Worst cheese spaetzle ever. Who bakes cheese spaetzle with slices of butter cheese?!? Why do you think this is necessary? Both in terms of taste and appearance, it was miserable. And then for €18.90!!! Most expensive cheese spaetzle ever and then with inferior ingredients in terms of taste, not even decent spaetzle flour and then the slices of butter cheese as a horrible highlight. Salad with gratinated goat cheese for also ~19€...ordinary pile of salad, not even that big and then with exactly 3 (!!!) small pieces of minimally warmed goat cheese. Absolute rip-off in terms of price, never to be seen again in terms of taste. Glasses and plates stood on the table for ages and we had to go to the waitress at her table to pay. Furnishings, especially inside, really beautiful. It's a shame that everything else is in stark contrast to this. Unfortunately very disappointed.

The food is absolutely average. Only the fries were good and the roulade too. Schnitzel was OK but not thin enough for Wiener Schnitzel. If you order schnitzel with salad, you get the salad as a starter, so you then have to eat the schnitzel without a side dish. We waited a whole hour on a Thursday evening. I would rather not rate the service. All in all, not mine. Very disappointing.

We came to Durlach from outside and came across the rather inconspicuous location by chance. From the very beginning you feel at home, because both the furnishings and the service are impeccable and invite you to spend many hours there. The selection is extensive and everyone will find something. The food itself is exactly as it says in the textbook, perfectly cooked, beautifully sautéed schnitzel, homemade sauces and leaves nothing to be desired. All in all, I can only warmly recommend everyone to pay a visit to this restaurant and let yourself be pampered. Oh yes, the price-performance ratio is also perfect. We just loved the place. Hadn't been there in years, but glad we gave it a try again. We ordered the Spargel meal for 2 and loved it. The service was great, very friendly. We sat outside, which was lovely. For some good food, good service and a lovely place, go to this restaurant.

Clear recommendation! Best German cuisine. The quality and quantity of the dishes are very good! You definitely get something for your money. Cozy atmosphere in the inn, but the beer garden is also very nice in summer. Friendly service! The only point of criticism: salt and pepper were not available on the table. Quaint restaurant with a beautiful outdoor area in the heart of Durlach. The food was also delicious and the prices are still reasonable. A great place to end the evening.

Super tasty food and nice service.

We visited the brewery on a Thursday evening around 6pm. Despite plenty of space, we were assigned a rather awkward spot in the middle of the room that didn't feel very comfortable. Additionally, our drink order was forgotten so we had to point this out when the food was served. The food itself was good. It is particularly positive to mention that the usual schnitzels are available in three sizes. The side salad was really good with a nice dressing and the fried potato was also delicious. PS: on another visit I tried the beef roulade. It was a bit small, but tasted very good.

Besuch am Pfingstmontag, 20. Mai 2024 Aufgrund einer Empfehlung durch unsere besten Freunde, haben wir uns mit diesen zum Essen getroffen. Das Restaurant -Alte Durlacher Brauerei "Zum Genter"- hat eine lange Tradition im Karlsruher Stadtteil Durlach, seit 1835, damals noch in der Markgrafenstadt Durlach. 4 Generationen der Familie Genter haben das Lokal betrieben, bis dieses 2009 verkauft wurde, welches im Anschluss sehr aufwändig, denkmalgerecht und mit Liebe im Detail saniert wurde. Seit 1. Mai 2012 betreibt nun die neue jetzige Betreiberfamilie die Gaststätte. Mit dem Betreiberwechsel hat sich gegenüber früher auch die Biermarke geändert - früher Dortmunder Bier und seit 2024 wird Waldhaus Premium-Bier ausgeschenkt. Das Restaurant verfügt über 70 Sitzplätze im Restaurant und noch mal so viele 'an schönen Tagen' im Biergarten. Serviert wird neben Schnitzel & Steaks, auch regionale & saisonale Gerichte. Vorab haben unsere Freunde telefonisch einen Tisch reserviert, was grundsätzlich zwar im Vorfeld geklappt hat - leider war durch das Personal vor Ort kein Tisch mit einem 'reserviert-Schild' hinterlegt und wir sollten uns selbst einen Tisch auswählen, aufgrund der niedrigen Besucherauslastung an diesem Tag. Bestellung: - Wildberry, Waldbeeren mit Limettensirup, Sekt und Schweppes aufgegossen 0,5l für 7,40 € > Getränk wurde in einer Flasche serviert, an dieser war kein Eichstrich hinterlegt, aber aufgrund der Flaschengröße, kann ich sagen, dass es 0,5l waren - aber aufgrund rechtlicher Vorgaben, ist es als Fehler zu werten >> in der Onlinekarte ist ein Fehler hinterlegt, dort heisst es "0,25l" - Mezzo Mix 0,33l-Flasche für 3,90 € - Zwiebelsuppe nach französischer Art, mit Baguette und Käse überbacken für 8,70€ > sehr feine leckere Suppe und genauso wie sie sein muss - Schneckenpfännle mit Knoblauchbutter überbacken, dazu Baguette für 9,80 € > es waren insgesamt 12 Schnecken und es war gut - Geschmorte Rinderroulade vom heimischen Rind (aus BW) in Burgundersauce, dazu hausgemachte Spätzle und Marktgemüse für 24,20 € > leider fehlte das Marktgemüse -außer einem Blatt vom Blattsellerie und einer Cherrytomate- war kein Gemüse auf meinem Teller >> hier habe ich eindeutig mehr erwartet > bitte nicht täuschen lassen >> die Angabe "hausgemacht" sagt lediglich aus, dass das Gericht in der Küche des Restaurants selbst hergestellt/verarbeitet wurde. Das Wort "herstellen" besteht dann im erwärmen, formen oder der Weiterverarbeitung mit anderen Produkten. Bei den mir erhaltenen Spätzle handelt es sich um eine bekannte Firmenmarke aus Baden-Württemberg (Münsingen), die ebenfalls damit wirbt "Omas hausgemachte Spätzle". Wenn die Spätzle selbst im Restaurant hergestellt worden wären, müsste es selbst hergestellt bzw. Eigenproduktion heissen. - Pariser Pfefferrahmschnitzel mit Beilage und Salat, normale Portion für 21,00 € - es gibt noch zwei Alternativen > die 'kleine' oder die 'Mega' Portion. > es waren 2 Schnitzel bei der normalen Portion und es hat geschmeckt - Pommes frites für 4,10 € > haben gar nicht bestellt, erst zu Hause gemerkt - diese waren vom Nachbartisch :-( - Espresso für 2,70 € - hausgemachtes Zitronentiramisu im Glas serviert für 9,30 € > persönlich empfand ich dieses sehr süß. - Dreierlei, Nougat Panna cotta mit Mandelkrokant und Schokoeis für 8,20 € > leider nicht so unseren Geschmack getroffen. Zusammenfassung: Leider aufgrund des gesamten Ablaufs, muss ich hier Punkte abziehen, da es doch Mängel sind, über die man nicht hinwegschauen kann. Wünschen der Alten Durlacher Brauerei und trotzdem eine gute Zeit.

The restaurant -Alte Durlacher Brewery "Zum Genter"- has a long tradition in the Karlsruhe district of Durlach, since 1835, back then in the margrave town of Durlach. 4 generations of the Genter family ran the restaurant until it was sold in 2009, which was then renovated very extensively, in keeping with the monument and with loving attention to detail. The current operating family has been running the restaurant since May 1, 2012. With the change of operator, the beer brand has also changed compared to before - formerly Dortmunder beer and since 2024 Waldhaus premium beer has been served. The restaurant has 70 seats in the restaurant and even as many in the beer garden on nice days. In addition to schnitzel and steaks, regional and seasonal dishes are also served. Our friends reserved a table in advance by phone, which basically worked in advance - unfortunately the staff on site didn't have a table with a 'reserved' sign and we had to choose a table ourselves due to the low number of visitors that day . An order: - Wildberry, wild berries infused with lime syrup, sparkling wine and Schweppes 0.5l for €7.40 > Drink was served in a bottle, there was no calibration mark on it, but based on the size of the bottle, I can say that it was 0.5l - but due to legal requirements, this is considered an error >> There is an error in the online map, it says "0.25l" - Mezzo Mix 0.33l bottle for €3.90 - French-style onion soup, baked with baguette and cheese for €8.70 > very fine, delicious soup and exactly how it should be - Snail pancakes gratinated with garlic butter, served with baguette for €9.80 > there were 12 snails in total and it was good - Braised beef roulade made from local beef (from BW) in Burgundy sauce, with homemade spaetzle and market vegetables for €24.20 > unfortunately the market vegetables were missing - apart from a leaf of celery and a cherry tomato - there were no vegetables on my plate >> I clearly expected more here > please don't be fooled >> the statement "homemade" only means that the dish was produced/processed in the restaurant's kitchen. The word “manufacture” then consists of heating, shaping or further processing with other products. The spaetzle I received is a well-known company brand from Baden-Württemberg (Münsingen), which also advertises "Grandma's homemade spaetzle". If the spaetzle had been made in the restaurant itself, it would have to be self-made or called in-house production. - Parisian pepper cream schnitzel with side dish and salad, normal portion for €21.00 - there are two alternatives > the 'small' or the 'mega' portion. > There were 2 schnitzels in the normal portion and it was tasty - French fries for €4.10 > didn't order at all, only noticed when we got home - these were from the neighboring table :-( - Espresso for €2.70 - homemade lemon tiramisu served in a glass for €9.30 > personally I found this very sweet. - Three kinds, nougat panna cotta with almond brittle and chocolate ice cream for €8.20 > unfortunately not to our taste. Summary: Unfortunately, due to the entire process, I have to deduct points here, as there are deficiencies that cannot be ignored. Wishing the Alte Durlacher Brewery all the best and a good time.

Leckeres Essen in dem Ambiente eines urigen aber gepflegten Brauhauses. Mit zwei Abendessen, Getränken einem gemeinsamen Nachtisch landet man allerdings bei über 80€.

Tja, was soll man dazu sagen? Das Essen scheint wohl sehr lecker zu sein, jedenfalls brummt der Laden. Das Ambiente ist urig und man fühlt sich hier wohl. Unser Wohlfühlfaktor wurde jäh unterbrochen, als wir ein Jägerschnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln bestellt haben, was wir uns teilen wollten. Da wir nicht soviel Hunger hatten und die Portionen augenscheinlich riesig waren. Nun sagte uns die nette Bedienung, dass dann 3 Euro extra zu zahlen seien, wenn nur eine Person etwas bestellen würde. Naja, grenzt ja eigentlich an Wucher und so etwas war uns auch nicht geläufig. Vielleicht hatten wir uns verhört? Nun ja, wir beschlossen dann doch von unserer Bestellung Abstand zu nehmen und verabschiedeten uns recht flott. So kann man auch Gäste vergraulen. Schade eigentlich, ist doch sonst wohl ein netter Laden...

gutes Essen, freundliche Mitarbeiter, aufmerksamer Service, optisch tolle Räume leider war richtig voll und sehr laut im Lokal, Unterhaltung war mühsam und nur Kopf an Kopf möglich trotzdem gute Stimmung. Portionen zum Teil sehr groß aber machbar wenn Hunger mitgebracht wird. Gerne mal wieder.

Nice small brewery. They have good beer, the seats outside are cosy and away from the noise of the city. The food was amazing. I was surprised to find 3 vegetarian as well as even one vegan dish. However be aware of the portion sizes. The portions for the schnitzel dishes tend to be pretty large so if you aren't very hungry maybe you want to opt for a smaller option.

Uriges, alteingesessenes Restaurant in der Durlacher Innenstadt. Wir waren als Freunde dort und hatten reserviert. Die Speisekarte bietet leckere badische, gut bürgerliche Küche mit reichlichen Portionen und aufmerksamem Service. Die Einrichtung mag dem ein oder anderen zu bieder sein, uns ging es allerdings ausschließlich um das Essen, was uns auch zuvor empfohlen worden war. Alles in allem ein leckerer, lustiger Abend. Mittlerweile waren auch andere Familienmitglieder da und waren ebenso angetan. Wir kommen sicher auch wieder! Vielen Dank.

This place belongs to the old town of Durlach, now a part of Karlsruhe, but much older than the main town. I came to this place just for a quick lunch, but the service lady was very, very busy with handling all the guests, so - even she did her best - a little patience was needed. Since the weather was excellent, a place in the beautiful beer garden was a perfect choice, like all the many other guest also came outside. I hoped I had a little more time and could have ordered some of the more complicated dishes on the menu list, so I just stood with a sausage salad, a typical German beer garden food in summer.

This was our first dinner at this wonderful restaurant in the Durlach section of Karlsruhe. We had 4 adults and 2 young children. We enjoyed the Jågerschnitzel with mushrooms and Spåtzle. We had a choice of 3 sizes: small, normal and Mega.. we all opted for the small. It was a large portion and was enough for each of us. It also included a salad bar. Charge for this was 10.1€. We thought this was a good value. We also had the beer brewed at the restaurant.. excellant. We had not heard of this restaurant and had stopped in only because we couldn't get a table at some of the other restaurants. We very happy with this restaurant. The service was great also.
