We discovered this hidden gem by chance, and we were pleasantly surprised! It's a place steeped in history and personality, with an open and very friendly atmosphere. The staff is top-notch, unpretentious, and everything is very well-organized. The signature dish is the chicken. They also have several types of German sausage, and a fresh and truly spectacular potato salad. Everything there is spectacular yet simple at the same time. It was a pleasure to be there!

Tiny but mighty menu - they have few items on the menu but they do them really well. Their chicken is their "brand" item, try it!

The chicken is great. You should just leave out the coleslaw or potato salad. It's also extra expensive and costs extra. 😎

Yesterday I was there with my dad, and as always, we had a fantastic experience. The service was truly top-notch. The chicken was so delicious. It was super quick. Prices have obviously gone up a bit, but in 2025, everyone has to worry about continuing to exist. It's great that you've been around for so long, and the value for money is truly top-notch. Anyone who thinks around €20 for half a chicken with coleslaw and €6.20 for a half liter of Schultheiß mixed with plenty of tourists is okay with this quaint pub that seems unchanged for 50 years. Lives off history and the guidebook. To each his own.

Of the four 1/2 chickens, two were very dry. The coleslaw was from a can. It's too expensive for that. The service was very friendly and quick.

Nothing has changed in the old inn over the years. The service is friendly and fast. The chicken is legendary! A reservation is definitely recommended. The ambiance and atmosphere are rustic. The food and drink selection is focused on good German fare. That's perfectly fine! People only go there for the chicken anyway. Still an insider tip for decades.

THE place for fried chicken in Berlin.The young birds are crispy and juicy, accompanied by a potato (mayonnaise) or Kraut (vinegar) salad. Prices are moderate despite the continued popularity of the restaurant. Great German beers on tap, including Jever, and a friendly and efficient service crew. A stop here is a tradition for us when visiting Berlin since 1985!

A lovely old Berlin pub with lots of charm, but unfortunately far too expensive. Almost €7 for a flat beer (Andechs) on tap, or a large Schultheiss (Schultheiss!!!) for almost €6 on tap. It's more for the upper middle class… a real shame.

I seated myself underneath the tree outside.. the chicken was baked hot and toasty! What could you ask for more than the delicious chicken, draft beer, sunny terrace seat, and such a helpful and kind staff! I wish I had more time to spare on the chicken and it was actually a big portion for one person! Next time, I shall eat them all!!!

€14.90 for half a deep-fried chicken? €5.30 for a factory-made potato salad. You wait 50 minutes for that, sitting on a dirty tablecloth in deafening noise. There's nothing for children. The service is very friendly. We don't see any reason to come back.

So for food, yes, if you know what you're after. The waitress could have explained calmly that you have to order side dishes for some dishes, for example. The menu isn't very extensive either. You can make reservations online for a fee, but it doesn't say on the website that you can also make reservations by phone.

Back at the Henne after 30 years – and it was as if I'd never left. The chicken? Still legendary: crispy, juicy, simply perfect. The beer, as always, goes perfectly with it. The setting? A Berlin dream, brimming with patina, history, and genuine hospitality. Berlin, pure and simple. And the service? Incredibly friendly – ​​attentive, warm, with Berlin charm. It was a real treat. I love this place.

Die jetzige Henne hat nichts mehr mit der Henne, wie sie über viele Jahre kannte und liebte, zu tun: frittiertes trockenes und zähes Hähnchen statt saftiges Milchhähnchen - wenig mittelmäßiges Brot (früher fantastisch und großzügig). Besonders für jeden, der die Henne von früher kannte, eine große Enttäuschung. Für alle anderen: geht woanders hin!!!

We've been visiting the Henne for over 35 years. The food there is always cozy and delicious.

The chicken is good, but I'd like to point out that you have to eat it with a fork; there are no knives for your hands. The potato salad is very meager and poor; the menu only includes chicken and three or four types of sausage. The beer is very expensive. I won't be back.

INFANT NOT RECOMMENDED!!! I wanted to make a reservation for two people today (Sunday) for next week (Saturday) and was asked to pay €50.00 in advance. How sick is that? Hospitality is something else entirely! Wirtshaus Henne, NO THANKS!

Honest opinion: We were there a few days ago. The wait was quite long, even though it wasn't that busy. The salad with the chicken came first, then the currywurst, and then, after what felt like 40 minutes, the chicken, which tasted very good, though! The price for the chicken with potato salad, which I don't think was made in-house, is €18.40! The atmosphere is nice, but the waiter should be seen more often. Sometimes, for long stretches, he wasn't to be found on the mezzanine floor. Then he complained that someone wanted to use a credit card, which he didn't approve of. There was no thank you for the 10% tip either.

We made a reservation for 8 p.m. in the morning, and there was no confirmation until 6 p.m. (how long should you wait?) so we canceled and 50 euros were still charged. This is fraud.

Old Berlin tavern with a strong beer selection and particularly good chicken – crispy skin, cooked juicy. Side dishes rather simple, service a bit strange. A musical band occasionally collects donations, which doesn't suit everyone's taste. Overall, a place with history and its own charm.

I came here in 2019 and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. I long for the day I can return and eat here again.

Simply wonderful, one of the best chicken I've ever eaten. Great, great, great! The potato salad and pudding are also highly recommended. There is also wonderful Andechser beer. A very, very clear recommendation! Ideally you should make a reservation. Incredibly friendly staff and the ambience is very rustic.

Wu eats Berlin roasted half chicken. Only forks and napkins are given. Beer is refreshing and relieves greasiness. The old-fashioned food is salty. But it also has a strong historical flavor.

We have known about the inn since the end of the 80s and have often eaten and drank there. We hadn't been there in the last 20 years when we visited again at the end of April. The friendly service and the ambience had not changed, nor had the quality of the chicken, crispy on the outside but rather dry and tough on the inside.

After two and a half decades of “hen” abstinence, it was finally time again! I was able to enjoy an absolutely wonderful evening with a friend. My good memories were refreshed. At that time I was part of a group that was perhaps not so quiet, but it didn't stand out in the loud noise of voices in the bar. This time it was good that my friend had reserved the upstairs room, a better place to chat in peace. I wasn't able to make a reservation by phone or digitally. With that, everything critical has already been communicated. Otherwise: Nothing has changed (luckily!)! The crispy chicken is second to none. Cabbage and potato salad hab and half was a wonderful side option! The service is great, friendly, flexible and fast! Caution! Descending the steep stairs with the narrow steps and the difficult-to-understand railing is a challenge for unsteady people who are afraid of heights... You can survive it and look forward to a quicker return this time. Hopefully nothing has changed in this special place by then! Thank you very much, keep it up! Strong recommendation! The draft beer was excellent, but the boulette was unfortunately oversalted, too greasy and burnt black on the outside... Yes, I know what you're thinking: why does the old man even go to a store like that and then not eat chicken? More on that in a moment. So: you pay here above all for what is probably delicious chicken, the ambience and the tradition. And this is interesting, but worth considering: a simple menu with a few dishes and the clear core competence “chicken” is fundamentally a good thing. However, when I hear three out of five groups of guests (including myself) ask when ordering whether there would be fries with the chicken, which unfortunately is not possible, I really have to ask myself whether this concept is still up to date. Not for me. If you can do delicious chicken, you can certainly also do delicious fries. But unfortunately I was unlucky with my alternative (see above). I really feel sorry for the staff, who are always friendly, helpful and quick to act, because they probably have to hear that about the fries several times a day. By the way, the staff was a real bright spot, along with the beer, that keeps this place going. What's more, they managed to seat us at a table in the evening without a reservation, even though everything was already fully booked online.

A typical place for 100 years now, people come for the chicken and that old Berlin. Costs, as with everything in Berlin, have increased over the years but once in Berlin, Henne chicken is a must-try.

Berlin has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine, but sometimes it's exactly these places that stay in your memory. The fried chicken with coleslaw was simply outstanding - as was the ambience and service. I couldn't imagine it better. Such inns should be protected! THANKS

Restaurant qui a fêté ses cents ans, qui était à quelques mètres du mur de Berlin. Accueil très banal, mais il faut réserver de préférence en soirée Vieille demeure ancienne sa spécialité c'est un demi poulet rôti bien agréable servi avec une tranche de pain et sans couteau ou fourchette ! Il a fallu demander des serviettes en papier. il est proposé également des saucisses au curry et des salades de chou ou de pommes de terres, avec couteau et fourchette, sans intérêt. En desserts deux crèmes assez quelconques. Bonnes bières et choix de vins allemands.

There were 7 of us and we had a nice table in the upper room. The service was quick and friendly. After a reasonable amount of time, the delicious, crispy chicken was brought to us. We were very disappointed with the tiny bowls of potatoes or coleslaw, just the bottom was covered, for €4.90. We wouldn't order again

It's all about the chicken. I don't even like chicken that much and it was DELICIOUS. Cole slaw and potato salad (creamy style) were great accompaniments.

The "Henne" is an old Berlin restaurant with furniture and equipment from the beginning of the last century. Traditionally, the standard dish is half grilled chicken, which is one of the best in Berlin. You only have the choice between tasty potato or coleslaw. If you don't want chicken you can also get currywurst. The service is super friendly and fast. We were here with 12 members of our sports club and were very satisfied. Unfortunately the opening times are not long enough for Berlin standards. But otherwise definitely recommended.

Typical Berlin pub with the unbeatable grilled chicken. You don't need anything other than grilled chicken. The ambience, with the framed photo of J.F. Kennedy above the counter, is reminiscent of my first visits there almost 50 years ago. A MUST on every one of my unfortunately rare visits to Berlin.
