It's all about the chicken. I don't even like chicken that much and it was DELICIOUS. Cole slaw and potato salad (creamy style) were great accompaniments.

Typical Berlin pub with the unbeatable grilled chicken. You don't need anything other than grilled chicken. The ambience, with the framed photo of J.F. Kennedy above the counter, is reminiscent of my first visits there almost 50 years ago. A MUST on every one of my unfortunately rare visits to Berlin.

We meet there regularly. Good food and beer. Cloudy pear is recommended as a schnapps. The employees are always up for a joke. Top

The "Henne" is an old Berlin restaurant with furniture and equipment from the beginning of the last century. Traditionally, the standard dish is half grilled chicken, which is one of the best in Berlin. You only have the choice between tasty potato or coleslaw. If you don't want chicken you can also get currywurst. The service is super friendly and fast. We were here with 12 members of our sports club and were very satisfied. Unfortunately the opening times are not long enough for Berlin standards. But otherwise definitely recommended.

Great fried chicken in a cozy place! A great escape from Korean ones.

In practice only one dish on the menu, but what a dish! It was the most tasty chicken I’ve ever had. The atomosphere is very traditional and genuine, and service very friendly.

We love coming here to have a drink. The liqueurs, for example, are incredibly tasty. The food is probably delicious too - the people look like they really enjoy it. With so much chicken sold here I wish it was ORGANIC. The reason we have never eaten here.

We showed up at 9pm on Friday without a reservation and they welcomed us without problems. The environment is rustic and welcoming, plus there was live music. Unfortunately the restaurant menu is quite limited as it only offers one main dish, the half chicken. The half chicken was very well done and good, the only flaw is that it arrived after 40 minutes of waiting, but it is explicitly written in the menu that unfortunately cooking it takes time. Positive experience. I would like to point out another negative thing, €6.70 for a bottle of water seems excessive to me.

We were here with friends on March 7th, 2020. Great atmosphere and nice employees. The chicken is very tasty, but the skin was a bit too salty for me. The cabbage and potato salad was tasty but nothing special. The beers are just about acceptable in price. But we'll be back!

Very tasty, rustic, friendly service, the best liqueurs and brandies

We were here for the second time today, after we became aware of this inn last year through an exhibition in Berlin. Already impressed back then, we deliberately returned to this historic, rustic place today to experience the feeling again. This inn is like a large living room where all of Berlin meets and talks about God and the world... The food, what can we say, is delicious to the point, with your hands in your mouth, everything fresh, with delicious wine, beer, and the Mampe half and half and the naturally cloudy pear schnapps are my favorites Regarding the history of the inn, it should be said: the story makes me shake my head and shows once again how people destroy people. It's easy to read in the book in the inn and also to buy... which I can only recommend. When we are in Berlin, we will always stop here... And if you are in Berlin, you should definitely stop by here if you want to meet people, the country and its people in an environment that has written its own history!

Old Berlin original, with a rustic ambience. In my opinion, this is the best half chicken in town. But it's best to get an impression of it yourself, it's definitely worth a visit.

We were in the beer garden with two large poodles. Because my wife was there 30 years ago. We were welcomed and entertained like good friends. The fried chicken was crispy and very tasty. Unfortunately we are only in Berlin sporadically, but we will definitely be back!

Fabulous chicken. It is fried after being cooked, so the skin is very crispy. You eat strictly with your hands. Historic restaurant in Berlin, which found itself with the wall on its doorstep. Downstairs, near the bathrooms, are all the photos. Beautiful.

A great inn with some Franconian specialties (cellar beer, brandies, ...) and a great ambience. You immediately feel at home in the location and with the great service. The book about the >100 year history of the “Hen” is highly recommended. A great recommendation from a friend from Franconia. Keep it up Team “Hen”!

Really excellent chicken which is the house specialty and almost the only dish on the menu but it's really worth it. The potato and sauerkraut salad are also excellent, all washed down with excellent beers. Furthermore, prices are more than fair for the quality and portion of food.

Excellent all round. The menu consists of chicken and two choices of sides but you won’t be disappointed by the lack of options. The skin is wonderfully crispy and salty on the outside but moist inside. The helles is served in ceramic steins and almost tastes buttery. It’s wonderful. The staff are extremely pleasant. If you can, ask about the pub’s Cold War history and the framed letter from President Kennedy sitting above the bar.

I took my children and grandchildren who were visiting me there for dinner. They were all very impressed with the pub and the food. I recommend it to everyone, again and again 😊

Old Berlin tavern with correspondingly simple furnishings and a very small menu (chicken/sausages/bulettes and salads). Amazing: Very good wine list from well-known German winemakers at very moderate prices. But we had tasty beers that probably went better with the fried chicken. Chicken very tasty with nice crispy skin (can be eaten without a knife, so with hands and fork); Meatball - quite heavily seasoned (salted) - was therefore not charged! Because of the rainy weather we couldn't sit in the cozy beer garden. All the waitresses were extremely friendly and helpful and deserve high praise!

A delight. Only one choice or almost but great quality. The beers are also excellent.

The “menu” is tiny. Better not to be hungry. The currywurst was lukewarm to cold, the sauce was boring and the potato salad was drowning in mayo or yogurt. We didn't have a reservation and just wanted to sit in the beer garden for 30 minutes. 5 tables were free but completely reserved. 3 of them were still empty when we left. We were seated at the shaving table. 0.25l water for €3.90. A single visit is absolutely enough.

It's nice that there are still such authentic places in Berlin. You sometimes feel catapulted back in time by the magical ambience!

A pleasant restaurant where the mainstay of food is roast chicken. And it's worth it, the truth is that it is very juicy. The atmosphere and decoration are super cool and, if it's a nice day, the terrace is super cool. I don't think it's particularly cheap, considering the whole thing, but I come back every time I go to Berlin.

An institution. We had both crackers and half chickens. They were wonderfully crispy. The potato salad was also good. The drinks were delicious and the service was quick and friendly.

An old inn, known for the chicken. These have a good crust, but are otherwise rather dry. Eating is done by hand. So take wet wipes or your own cutlery with you! Small garden with benches. You can go there, but you don't have to.

Very authentic old Berlin restaurant... The name says it all, they mainly serve chicken...boulettes are also recommended as an alternative. Reservation makes sense!

The Henne is one of the most beautiful inns in Berlin. Chicken, coleslaw and potato salad and beer are simply delicious. The service is competent and very nice. I've known them for 40 years and have never been disappointed. Bravo

We were in the small (but nice) beer garden of the Henne Wirt when the weather was great! Service was in a good mood and the half chicken was perfect! There was also delicious potato salad. Unfortunately there are no fries. The selection of beers is also impressive!

The chicken was “meh” at best and they don’t have any knives in the whole restaurant. I saw numerous people around me trying to eat the chicken, as I did, with two forks. Ridiculous.

Well, I haven't been to Berlin for a long time and it was a must to go there! I was served very friendly, the food tasted excellent, and the shop was full when it opened!!!! that shows the quality. I was lucky and got a good seat without a reservation, and the gentleman who served me was very friendly and very professional. Thank you very much.

Authentic, tasty and, when the weather is good, a small but nice beer garden. You definitely have to make a reservation here, but it's definitely worth it. The chicken is worth it. Update: were here again today. Still super tasty and good. Nice service. The deposit as part of the reservation via Paypal is unusual, but everything is processed correctly. The deposit was returned a day later.

What can be written about the hen that hasn't already been written? For over 20 years, the small but lovely garden on Leuschnerdamm has been our go-to place for the crispiest chicken in the city. The country beer is tasty, the potato salad is tasty in a positive sense... even if it comes from the 5kg bucket at Penny, it all just fits together. This has to be at least twice every summer.

Kellerbier and fruit schnapps from the barrel, half a tap from the grill, great service staff, a guest who played the piano brilliantly. A nice evening. Highly recommended.

I've known this place since the 80s and it has never disappointed. The chicken is still delicious, the beers are fresh and served in the “right” glasses and the atmosphere is unique. Reservations are an absolute must!

It is essential to go with a reservation. The terrace is very nice. The food is not spectacular but it is good and in line with the prices. The service could be improved. It is not located in a very touristy area so at least it preserves some tranquility.

As always, perfect in everything. The meat is not dry and the crispy skin is a dream. The service is great and always friendly. Always happy.

Must visit to eat very special chicken

Unfortunately it's a bit old. Expensive and very simple. Lost some of its charm for me. Mainly because of the price-performance ratio. The hen seems to be resting on the past.

Years ago it was an institution, today it's more of a general store. The beer was delicious, and so was the chicken, but somehow it used to be better.

Yesterday, after several years, we went to the Henne with foreign friends to eat chicken. Far away from the hustle and bustle, it is still a beautiful, old Berlin pub in Kreuzberg. The chicken was as good as ever, the beer was freshly tapped and the service was courteous and friendly. We were once again impressed and will definitely come back.

Pure tradition. You can't go wrong with the chicken and the nut spirit packs a punch.

Absolutely brilliant, we loved everything about this restaurant. Service was 5 star, Food 5 stars and the atmosphere and decor, 5 stars. You will need to book if you want to come, but if you want a small taste of an old east Berlin restaurant, this is the place to come. Have the Crispy Chicken it is delicious. Good beer as well

The main course is half a chicken which is very crispy, juicy and just salty. You have to order side dishes separately but they are delicious. The beer nice and cold. Atmosphere suitable for a German pub.

We always love dining at Henne. The food and service is always wonderful and the cozy atmosphere is great any time of year. We also appreciate how dog friendly they are.

I've known the pub for decades. Not much has changed. Everything has remained, which is a special feature these days. What doesn't fit at all is the reservation option with a security deposit of 50 euros. Very complicated, time-consuming. I waited 8 hours for confirmation despite the debit being made. When very few ingredients are kept that are not perishable, one cannot understand this charge in a pub. The money will not be charged, you may get it back. It hasn't been booked back yet. That should be changed.

Nice atmosphere and staff, the chicken was nothing special, neither was the potato salad and the beers were extremely stale and expensive. The live music was also rather tiring and very loud (sorry). If the beer was cheaper and less stale, this would be a nice place for a bit of drinking!!

First of all, it's an "insider tip" If you come here to eat milk broiler chicken, you'll eat it with almost everything the chicken has (skin/bones). Takes a little longer - but it's worth it. Prices ok, reservation is an advantage, staff completely relaxed 🤔😜🤫 Parking shouldn't be a real problem.... anyone who would "post" something else is wrong 😁

The old inn is very narrow and therefore it was a bit uncomfortable, but the food and service is really very good!

Great place! The interior is beautiful and so authentic. A lot of wood, pictures, glass and ceramic tiles. The food is super tasteful. Chicken just melts in mouth. Really recommend this place.

It's just electric grilled chicken. The taste is completely different from the taste of Korean chicken. It's only half, but it's quite a lot. It's good to go just to experience what German chicken is like, but if you go expecting too much taste, you may be disappointed. The atmosphere of the restaurant has a German feel.
