Ali Baba Restaurant in Lübeck

We went to Ali Baba for our wedding anniversary. Luckily, we had a reservation, as it was completely full. It was very noisy, but that's to be expected. Despite the crowds, our order arrived promptly, and the server was professional, friendly, and competent. The food was of the usual excellent quality and, as always, tasted delicious. Thank you also for the delightful amuse-bouche, which made the wait more pleasant. All in all, a wonderful evening with great Turkish cuisine. Please keep up the great work!

I went there with my friends for dinner because we were starving. The great thing was how quickly the food arrived. The service was fantastic and friendly. They were always smiling and created a positive atmosphere. The food was so delicious and the portions were huge; you definitely left feeling full. The atmosphere was pleasant and very comfortable. Excellent food; the lamb chops and liver were very tender and subtly seasoned. Beforehand, we enjoyed a delicious mint yogurt with homemade bread as a complimentary amuse-bouche. The staff was very friendly and attentive; a glass of water arrived immediately when I had a slight cough.

Absolutely fantastic place located on a side street. Don't be fooled by the unassuming appearance from the outside. When you walk in you are immediately greeted with a friendly welcome. The food is well prepared and well priced. We have eaten here several times over the years and keep coming back.

I ordered a grilled platter today, but unfortunately, the meat was completely raw inside. While it was seared on the outside, it was still pink and doughy on the inside – that's not how minced meat should be served. This is not only unappetizing, but also a health risk. Furthermore, the side dishes, such as fries and vegetables, were unfortunately cold, which further spoiled the overall impression. It's a shame, because I was actually looking forward to the meal, but this result is disappointing. I had to throw the dish away.

Three of us spontaneously popped in one Sunday afternoon and were greeted very quickly and warmly. We shared two starters and then each had a main course. Everything was very fresh and delicious; generous portions at a good price. Definitely recommended.

There were three of us and we had decided to take a day trip to Lübeck. Before we headed back, we stumbled upon this restaurant and went in. We got a table right away (or right by the window if we wanted). The service was incredibly polite and accommodating. A special request was accommodated. At first glance, I almost thought the portion was too small, but that was definitely wrong. I was perfectly full—not too little, not too much. So I didn't feel sick, nor did I waste anything. The black tea at the end was the perfect end to a truly lovely and worthwhile restaurant visit. We've already decided that the next time we end up in Lübeck, we'll definitely stop here again. P.S. I recommend everyone try the Alster Rot, 10/10

Very tasty and great service! We ordered Adana kebab, among other dishes, and were asked how spicy we'd like it. We also received a welcome drink from the kitchen (very tasty!). We're not from Lübeck, but we would definitely recommend it and come back again and again.

My wife and I visited for the first time, and we were very satisfied. The service was friendly and quick, and the food was delicious. The portions were generously sized. We'll definitely be back.

We visited Alibaba with colleagues; the food was quite tasty, but modest. The prices are quite steep: the Adana kebab was €20 and the half-liter of house wine was €18. Okay, that's a gift, but then I ordered a raki each for our group, which I was charged €8.50 per glass, or €68, which borders on a rip-off. I'm in Lübeck often and won't be coming back.

Very good food and friendly service. The lentil soup and sarma as starters were truly delicious. For main courses, we had manti, lamb steak (cooked to perfection), and mini kofte. Everything was fresh and very well prepared. The pleasant atmosphere makes you feel at home right away. I can definitely recommend it, and we'll stop by again on our next visit to Lübeck.

We stopped here for coffee. My wife ordered a mocha and received an authentic Turkish mocha, along with a water glass. Unfortunately, we can't comment on the food (yet), but we'll definitely try it the next time we're in Lübeck.

Top service, delicious food! Always happy to come back.

From the moment you enter, you experience a welcoming feeling. It doesn't immediately feel like a restaurant, but rather like an invitation to a very good meal. This is also reflected in the service. I had a lamb steak. It was spot-on. It was neither overdone nor underdone. It melted in your mouth as you chewed, and the juices washed down the sides. Simply perfect. The side dishes complemented the steak perfectly, as did the sauces. I decided to use less of the sauces because I didn't want to alter the flavor of the steak. Before the main course arrived, there was a special treat from the kitchen, which is how it was presented to us. It consisted of a bread and two dips: one with a tomato and one with fresh quark. Fresh, juicy, and perfectly balanced. There's nothing more to say. A clear recommendation from me :)

More than just a restaurant, a place with heart 💖 I was under a lot of stress that day and was quite exhausted. In the restaurant, the waitress asked me very kindly several times if I was okay. I briefly explained that it was busy. Shortly after, I received my drink, and next to it was a small, handwritten note. This small gesture really did me good. You can tell that they're not just doing their job here, but that the employees are doing it with their hearts. Maheen S., in particular, brought a genuine smile to my day with her loving manner and attentiveness. You rarely experience something like that. I took the note with me, and if I'm not feeling well in the future, I'll definitely look at it again. It reminds me that there are always people who empathize. I'd love to come back, not just for the food, but also for the people here.

What's happening here? Whatever is going on, it is NOT the Ali Baba of 1986 anymore. I can say that much. And you notice that too. Really, really unfortunate.

We really enjoyed staying at Ali Baba a while ago. The last visit, however, was, how shall I put it, "different". However, not necessarily different good. There seems to be a change taking place and it really shows. The family atmosphere is missing, the food didn't taste bad, but it was clearly not what it tasted like six months ago. The plates look prepared differently, the kofta have a different consistency?? It doesn't seem to be a Turkish restaurant anymore either?! The loving, familiar faces are no longer there, the head chef doesn't seem to be there either? It's really a shame because under these circumstances we won't be coming to dinner anymore.

Place is changing. Quality has decreased massively. It's a shame really, whatever is happening, it's not a family run business anymore.

OK. The food really isn't very good. Simple Turkish cuisine at exorbitant prices. It's a shame that there are no better alternatives in Lübeck. That's why it's 3 stars. This restaurant would not be able to exist in Hamburg. Update today 4 years later: We gave the store a new chance. It was really just bad, the toilet didn't work, the food was completely fatty. Stomach pain afterwards. Service disinterested in the customer, only busy with their cell phones, even though only 3 tables were occupied at the best dinner time. Card payment was declined. Unfortunately we won't be coming back. Actually 0 stars, a shame.

Not a franchise block, not a convenience store, not a snack bar but an honest, lovingly run family business. Where you will always be warmly and professionally welcomed. The ambience upon entering is unparalleled in Lübeck; we were greeted with eye contact and calmly. Cozy is what I thought at first. A little unsure where we should sit, they immediately took care of us and seated us. It doesn't really matter where because it's nice to sit anywhere. The value of the interior also reflects the demands of the cook. Our special requests were met very well and everything was fresh and excellent. You can tell that mom is cooking. We have discovered an insider tip (since 1986, by the way) and would like to say thank you to all the employees who gave us such a lovely evening.

Highly recommended restaurant! The friendly recommendations met current needs. It was very delicious: The individual side dishes on the starter plate had their original aroma at the exact cooking level. The dips taste extremely different. The homemade manti (No. 100 similar to tortellini with meat filling) offers an alternative to the usual dishes. Chai is exciting - both with food and as a dessert alternative.

A fixture in Lübeck since 1986. Authentic Turkish slow food. My recommendation is the mixed grill plate or the chicken grill plate. Delicious. Schönes türkisches Restaurant mit leckeren Speisen und wohlfühl Ambiente! Die Inhaber und Kellnerin sind sehr nett. Es war ein rundum schöner Abend!

Wir waren gestern und vorgestern im AliBaba (türkisches Restaurant) - immer mit mehreren Personen. Offensichtlich wird das Restaurant von einem jungen Paar bewirtschaftet. Er macht einen überforderten Eindruck, besteht darauf pünktlich Feierabend zu machen. Menschlich verständlich, für den Gast nicht soo schön. Die Atmosphäre ist nett, leicht orientalisch (wie der Name schon vermuten lässt) erinnert aber ein wenig an eine Gaststätte. Dass die Teelichter in den wunderschönen Haltern ausgebrannt sind fällt dem Personal nicht auf, werden daher nicht nachgelegt. Wir wollten auch nicht darauf hinweisen, denn die Getränke 🍷 lieferung und auch die Reichung des Essens waren schleppend. Wer da welches Getränk und welches Essen genau bestellt hatte konnte die zauberhaft aussehende, nette Bedienung nicht so richtig erinnern. Es gibt auf der Karte das vegetarische Gericht „Zucchini in Ohnmacht“ (so heißt es wirklich!). Schmeckt sehr gut. 👍 Die Preise sind sehr human, für jeden etwas dabei.

Wir haben dort einen schönen Abend verbracht mit vier Personen das Essen war sehr lecker wir haben Vorspeisen genommen Hauptgang Dessert auch Getränke dazu Bier und Schnaps uns hat sehr gut gefallen

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant mit gemütlichem, persönlichem Ambiente. Das Personal ist herzlich und zuvorkommend und man fühlt sich direkt wohl. Die Krönung war jedoch das Essen - man schmeckt, dass es mit viel Hingabe und Liebe zubereitet wurde. Hier werde ich definitiv noch öfter vorbeischauen!

Schön eingerichtetes Lokal mit einigen Tischen im Freien an der ruhigen Nebenstrasse, freundliche Bedienung und ausgezeichnetes Essen. Wir haben mit unserer sechsköpfigen Familie hier einen schönen Abend verbracht und kommen sicher wieder, wenn wir das nächste Mal in der Region sind! 1000 Dank an die Gastgeber!

Leckeres Essen in gemütlicher Atmosphäre. Gute Parkmöglichkeiten im Parkhaus nebenan. Wir aßen dort vor der Veranstaltung in der MUK. Ich fand gut, dass es auch kleine Portionen zum Bestellen gab. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Einfach gute Türkische Küche und Top Personal.

Leider kann ich mich nicht den positiven Bewertungen anschließen. Wir waren letzte Woche dort und wurden enttäuscht. Ein Grillteller für 23,50€ und noch einmal 2,50€ Aufpreis für Pommes statt Reis. Das Essen kam auf einem großen weißen Teller und war leider lieblos angerichtet. Das Lammkotelett war sehr dünn, das Hähnchenfleisch, was auch kein Filet war, sehr klein, genauso wie die Portion Pommes. Unsere Tochter hatte das Lammsteak, das eher von der Dicke an ein Wiener-Schnitzel erinnerte. Wenn ich 220g Steak im Steakhaus bestelle, dann hat es schon eine vernünftige Dicke. ( Falls jetzt jemand meckert: Ja, ich weiß das es kein Steakhaus ist, aber darum geht es auch nicht) Im großen und ganzen kann man sagen, das das Essen sein Geld nicht Wert war. Für uns wird es dort keinen weiteren Besuch geben. Schade, aber vielleicht hatten wir auch einfach nur Pech.

Ein gemütliches Restaurant. Der Service war sehr freundlich und schnell. Abends gegen 20 Uhr war es immer noch gut besucht. Einen Tisch haben wir auch gefunden. Die Speicherkarte ist übersichtlich. Was aber total okay ist. Jeder hat etwas gefunden. Das Essen kam auch schnell an den Tisch. Das Essen war sehr reichlich und schmeckte sehr gut. Das Fleisch steht in der Türkei sehr im Vordergrund. Ich mochte den äußerst leckeren 😋 Krautsalat. Mhhh...passte sehr gut zum den Hähnchenrouladen mit dem Bulgur. Was ich unglücklich empfand. Auf der Karte steht, jedes Gericht wird mit Brot und Dip serviert....Es kam ein Brotkorb mit einer winzigen Schüssel mit Tomaten- und JoghurtDip. Für 3 Mann 5 Stück kleines Fladenbrot...Why???? Der TomatenDip war so lecker und das Brot dazu, mmmmhhh

Ali Baba ist schon seit 1986 in Lübeck und das nicht von ungefähr. Wirklich leckeres Essen, sehr freundliche Bedienung und eine angenehme, nicht aufdringliche Atmosphäre. Alle Zutaten sind wirklich frisch und man gewinnt schnell den Eindruck, dass der Gast hier wirklich König ist.

...wir kommen gern wieder, weil das Essen und der Service echt gut sind.
