Mem U Zin in Lübeck

We had the chicken skewer and the grill for one person. We were absolutely thrilled; I've rarely eaten so well. We'll be back 👍👍👍

Lahmacun is crispy, but the meat isn't very good. If you like crispy, go for it. The mixed kebab plate wasn't bad. The pork chops were good. The Adana was okay. The skewered meat and uncooked chicken weren't great either. The appetizers were a bit of a "May God make more of it." The bread was stale. They warmed it up before bringing it back. The spicy turnip juice was good. The light ayran was also good. The tea was stale, but it came in a small glass, so it was drinkable. If you drink it quickly, you don't notice the staleness. However, the tea plate was a typical coffee plate. It wasn't meant for that place. The glasses were old, too. They ruined the beauty of the place. The decor is nice. If you bring a German friend, they might. If you offer them pork chops, they'd enjoy them. I wouldn't bring my friend. It's not a place I'd bring friends to. I wouldn't go back myself. If my friends asked me to eat there, I wouldn't spoil the atmosphere. I'd come. It's that level of place.

Unfortunately, it's not what it used to be. The food is rather mediocre. The service is friendly and attentive. However, the prices are quite expensive by Lübeck standards. I paid just under €20 for a lamb skewer.

I was full of anticipation when I discovered that there was finally a Kurdish restaurant near me. In a city where you can find restaurants from all over the world, the prospect of experiencing a piece of Kurdistan here was something very special for me. First, the positive: The food was truly delicious, fresh, and authentic. The service was also friendly, attentive, and professional—a huge compliment for that. I was all the more disappointed that the restaurant didn't live up to its name and focus. I had hoped to experience a little piece of Kurdistan not only in terms of cuisine, but also in terms of atmosphere—with music, decor, and details that reflected this rich culture. Instead, Turkish songs played, and the decor was also more reminiscent of a Turkish restaurant, and so the special character that would make a Kurdish restaurant distinctive was unfortunately missing. Of course, the food comes first, but precisely because the restaurant's name is clearly Kurdish, one also expects Kurdistan to be reflected in the overall atmosphere. An Indian wouldn't play Georgian music, and an Italian wouldn't decorate their restaurant with Spanish decor. It's precisely this authenticity that guests appreciate in international restaurants – because for a moment, you feel as if you were actually there. My wish and suggestion: Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to introduce guests to Kurdistan not only through taste, but also through culture. Many visitors – not just Kurds – would certainly appreciate being able to experience a piece of home with all their senses here, instead of encountering a rather generic ambiance. Conclusion: The food and service are top-notch, but the atmosphere and authenticity fall well short of expectations. With a few changes, this restaurant could truly be unique and stand out from all the others.

Good and tasty food, especially the dish to share

I'm truly disappointed with this place. We waited over 40 minutes for just two dishes. During that time, customers even got up and left. I should have done that too, completely understandable given the wait times. The lamb chops were inedible, tough as rubber. When I mentioned it, I was told that was "normal." I've never experienced anything like it. Drinks were forgotten and only brought after the meal, despite us asking several times. The staff were completely overwhelmed. Perhaps hiring two or three more employees would help, then things would run more smoothly. For me, one thing is clear: never again. I'd rather take a detour and eat in Hamburg.

Great food, a great atmosphere, and a very friendly staff. Amazing dishes at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it; it's very well located in the center of Lübeck.

I've been there several times, as I often take day trips to Lübeck. Service is excellent, the food tastes delicious and is beautifully presented. It's a feast for the eyes. We ordered a platter for four. I've also ordered the platter for two. It tastes just as good. The food is always well-prepared, and everything is freshly prepared.

There were six of us there. The service was very friendly and quick, despite our many questions and requests. We ordered appetizers and a meat platter for seven people as a main course. It tasted really good and was prepared very satisfactorily. Due to all the fresh food and the weather, it was unfortunately quite warm throughout the place at times. The atmosphere is otherwise really cozy and not too loud; I can highly recommend going here.

The KURDISH cuisine (not TURKISH) is a true delight for the palate. You can tell how much love goes into the food, which perfectly fits the name of the restaurant, the Kurdish love story Mem u Zin. Highly recommended. I always enjoy eating here.

In a time when you can delete bad reviews, it's hard to find truly good restaurants. But this is the place to be! Everything tasted incredibly good!

Adana was really delicious but what was really missing was the treats. We ordered 2 Adana portions and one lahmacun. The treat came in a small plate with 2 pieces of product and the tea that came was so cold that it was as if I had drunk cold tea but let me emphasize that the staff was very friendly. Adana was really delicious and the baklava was awful. It was the worst baklava of my life, as if green peas were used instead of pistachios.

Unfortunately, a disappointing experience. Initially, the welcome was friendly, but then a lot of things went wrong: long waits (over 40 minutes for food), lukewarm, still drinks, and cold bread. The food finally arrived without cutlery, new drinks were forgotten, and the food ended up being cold. I had expected more based on positive reviews.

This is really, really delicious. It’s so beautiful here. And the music is great! The service was absolutely top-notch, and the food was simply outstanding! I’ve never had anything this delicious and beautifully presented in my life. The atmosphere was incredible — everything felt magical. A pure disaster, we waited over an hour for a grill plate for 4 people where there were only 2 Adana skewers on it and we got 3 lamb chops. Meat was dry. NOT RECOMMENDED.

You have to expect a 1-hour waiting time, I don't think we were an exception. The food was ok but it wasn't over the top. Maybe you can think about how many tables to fill because the food you're serving takes time to prepare. Not recommended.

Turkish cuisine is also one of my favorites and this time in Lubeck I visited Mem U Zin. Very friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. I had my main course on the table quite quickly, but the bread with spread was on the table very quickly. Of course I also drank a real Turkish Raki to whet my appetite 😃

The Turkish cuisine here is simply fantastic! The spices and the way they are prepared really make an impression. The portions are huge and the staff is incredibly friendly. The grilled meat is particularly juicy. I will definitely come back! I can only recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience.

Rating for Mem u Zin: Unfortunately I have to rate the Mem u Zin restaurant with disappointment. There were five of us and we were provided with far too little bread - an absolute no-go for a Turkish restaurant. The grill plate was good, but it was missing many of the components that were included at the neighboring tables and are usually included, such as chili peppers or tomatoes. One particularly unpleasant incident was having tea spilled on my leg - and it was really hot! There was no apology or new tea, which is simply unprofessional and made the incident even worse. The meal also took 60 minutes and the pieces of meat on the grill were unfortunately very tough. The bulgur was good, as were the Adana and the chicken, but that couldn't make up for the overall disappointing impression. To make matters worse, the soft drinks were not chilled, which is incomprehensible in a restaurant of this type. Some of the staff were unfriendly and incompetent, which further worsened the overall experience. The whole thing was also really expensive for what we received, which made the experience even more frustrating. Overall, a disappointing visit that I unfortunately cannot recommend.

The service was tried hard, but overwhelmed. The food came in stages: while some at the table were already finished, for others the main course came 30 minutes later. In general, you need a lot of patience and time: for the order, until the drinks arrive... and eventually the food. There is no coffee at all, not even Turkish mocha. Ambiance: The Christmas tree should be removed by mid-January.

We had a great time at Mem U Zin thanks to Eşref ve Şevket. They were very welcoming and friendly. We went there twice during our vacation and had the pide, kuzu şiş, and the mangal (their famous meat grill). All were delicious. My boyfriend is Turkish and I am learning so it was a great opportunity to speak a bit with Eşref ve Şevket in Turkish. Great restaurants are made of quality service and food, and thats what we experience. Çok teşekkürler.

A kebab restaurant with high quality not only in German standards but also in Turkish standards. Lamb shish, Adana, lahmacun, pitas, snacks, tea were all good. We were also pleased with the service. It has warm and helpful staff.

Best kebab shop Wow. There at least once every week and every time it's a pleasure. The music selection is brilliant and the staff are very correct. Everything is perfect in this store 10/10.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at the restaurant, I came here by chance. I'm totally surprised at how original and delicious the food is. The chefs here do a much better job than the stars I can give. The dishes that we tested on the menu are generally made according to original recipes. We allow this and make judgments because I work with guests from Turkey (Gaziantep - Turkish cuisine) who attach great importance to the cooking skills. I would also like to mention the employees in the service area who do their job very courteously and professionally and leave a friendly and familiar feeling. The best I could find in Lübeck. Thank you and we will definitely see each other more often now.

We saw a very great Tiktok about this restaurant and came from Kiel especially for this. We had to wait a short time (15-20 minutes) until we got a table, which was acceptable and understandable since the restaurant was really well occupied. After we finally sat down, we ordered a grill platter (around €50) for 2 p. and 2 ayrans (around €10). It took a while before we could even order, but we were able to understand that and didn't think it was that bad. The ayrans came quite quickly and were tasty, but neither the bread with the ezmes nor our actual order came to the table quickly. The Ezmes arrived after 45 minutes and the actual order only came after over 60 (!!) minutes. Also, after about 50 minutes, the waitress asked if we would like something else instead of the lamb chop, as this meat was out. According to the reviews, this is probably their scam... The entire team seemed chaotic and overwhelmed. In the kitchen, their grill was filmed several times with flashlight. Instead of making so much of a show, it would be better to take care of the guests. :( If we had known that the meal would take sooo long & the lamb couldn't be served, we wouldn't have taken more than an hour's drive. Unfortunately, the meal itself wasn't recommended either. But I can say one positive thing, it can prepare the food really well, see video.

We were guests at Mem U Zin this evening as part of our Christmas market weekend in Lübeck. Luckily we had reserved in advance. The food and service were absolutely top notch. You feel welcome here. We had the grill plate which was absolutely amazing. So if you're looking for a good restaurant in Lübeck, you can't miss Mem U Zin. A big fat thumbs up.👍👍👍

I was at this Turkish restaurant recently and I'm sorry to say my visit was a disappointment. We waited over an hour for our food – almost 1.5 hours in total! There was no apology or explanation for the long wait. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed and didn't take our orders properly. We had to keep asking whether our order had even been recorded. In addition, the tables were not cleaned properly. The table we sat at was still dirty from the guests in front of us. When we pointed this out, nothing happened for a long time and the table remained untidy. This made the entire experience even more unpleasant. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. The service was poor, the wait was far too long, and basic cleanliness was lacking. I probably won't eat here again

For me only 3 stars. I visited twice and both times I ordered the grill plate, both times the meat from the menu/description was NOT on it. I also think that people are being ripped off a bit, especially given the high prices. During the first visit it was pointed out that the lamb chop was sold out and whether they should give us a little more of other meat. In principle, good from the staff, but they only tell you that after you have ordered the plate and the plate is already being served/prepared. The second time the chop wasn't on it either. Arranging it is great, but I think this method is often used because there is no overview of how much of which meat is on it. To me the platter for 2 looked exactly the same as the platter for 3, except there was a little more garnish 🤔🤔 If the grill plate is ordered for 3, then I expect EVERY type of meat to be on it 3x, including the lamb chop. I would recommend that you take a closer look and perhaps order the plate individually, for each person individually. I think you pay 1 or 2 euros more, but no one can deduct you and you have an overview of the dish and whether everything is on it.

It's not what you think! In the advertising, the pictures supposedly had almost five stars! The food was really bad Lentil soup only tasted like salt and fat! The meat was so hard you couldn't eat it! The rice that came out of the bag was Chinese rice! We didn't get any cutlery until we asked for it several times! There was only a single paper towel for 2 people The waiter sat us down at a table where the ceiling dripped onto the table! We weren't finished with our food yet, A man went on the table to fix something on the ceiling! He tore open a lid from the ceiling and blew a lot of dust onto our food! The waiters are running around like crazy, but no one is able to look properly! I don't recommend it to anyone! It's inedible! The waiters were also very unfriendly! Even didn't want to give up the rest of the money!

We were in the Memuzin restaurant with a group of 8 and had a wonderful evening! The atmosphere was authentic and took us culturally straight to Turkey, perfect for a special experience. I had the chicken skewers which were excellently seasoned and juicy. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive and quick, both in taking the order and serving it. The food came quickly and was of the best quality. All in all a great restaurant that I can only recommend to everyone. We'd love to come back!

We had a perfect evening Mem U Zin. Even though we didn't make a reservation, we got a great seat without a long wait. The team was super friendly and had top recommendations for us. And now about the food: it was incredibly delicious! Künefe with Maras ice cream at the end - it couldn't be better! We felt completely comfortable and had a really nice evening! When we are back in Lübeck, Mem U Zin will be at the top of our list! Thank you!

Delicious Turkish restaurant Good service

Delicious inexpensive food, very friendly and nice atmosphere. There were three of us and we were warmly welcomed without an appointment. Our table was inside, with an open window. First of all there was bread on the house with delicious dips. For starters we ordered Ayran, Lahmachun and Pide. This was followed by kofte and a beyti kebab. The food was beautifully prepared, perfectly balanced and very tasty. We'll be back!

We discovered this restaurant late in the evening after some of the more traditional places had already closed (9 o’clock!). The waiters were very helpful and friendly. The Kebab was fantastic and the lamp was delicious too! The balloon bread was super, too. We enjoyed it very much.
